Reviews for Hotel Don Diego

Review 1:I really liked how warm and welcoming the staff was. Most of them spoke fluent english and they provided high quality service. Food in the restaurant was excellent both during dinner and breakfast. They also offered me special opportunity to get a junior suite even when I had paid only for a standard room. I loved the suite! I had my own private roof terrace for sunbathing and really nicely decorated room with own terrace as well. And of course the view to the sea and Tavolara island was stunning. Really loved also the opportunity to usethe private beach. The atmosphere of the place was really relaxing and when I went to sleep I could hear how waves splashed and night crickets chirped. 100% relaxed feeling after my day and night at Don Diego. Would defenitely go back there. However, if you want to discover different areas of Sardinia, you should rent a car. It's not easy to go anywhere from Don Diego without a car. For me this wasn't a problem since I just wanted to spent my last night in Sardinia at this luxury place and get relaxed. I liked how close the airport was, so it was easy to go there by taxi in the morning.

Review 2:junior suite bit disappointing although had fantastic view, rather a small space.

Review 3:Perfect peaceful location with fantastic views. wonderful restaurant with excellent food and staff x very romantic hotel for a sunshine break.

Review 4:Pillows were too hard. Some balconies had noise from AC units.

Review 5:Actually on the shore of the Med with unspoilt views. Junior suites had private terraced balconies some with stunning views. Extremely good food.

Review 6:Standard room is nice but a bit dark, could have done with more light. Bit disappointed to learn that there is an extra charge of 140 euros to use the facilities after checking out on departure date, although we were able to take a shower and change before leaving which was really appreciated at no charge.

Review 7:Superb location with amazing views of Tavolara island, which can be enjoyed while having breakfast, or by the pool or from the beach. Customer service provided is great overall, staff is very kind and helpful.

Review 8:No milk supplied for making tea in the room. Bar staff could have been more attentive. More information could have been supplied on arrival relating to local attractions. eg, markets, towns, trips etc

Review 9:We have just returned from a lovely weeks holiday at the Don Diego hotel. We thought the accommodation, facilities, location, food and staff were all first class and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

Review 10:Too much services (like towels, minibar) you need to pay for such expensive hotel. Should have a little bit higher price or all included offer, avoiding thinking about all small things you need to pay after you leave.

Review 11:We liked location, breakfast, private beach, friendly staff, beautiful property of hotel. Also there is private zone near apartment.

Review 12:Room comfort could be improved (safe and water boiler not working)

Review 13:Great location with access to a private beach a beutiful sightseeing. Very friendly staff and good restaurant.

Review 14:There should be a separate concierge desk to assist hotel guests on what to do on the island, the hotel reception staff did try to assist, but they could not do it to the best possible level since they had to meanwhile answer phone calls, and respond to other guests.

Review 15:Large area including private beach, pool, garden and passages. The hotel room has private outside sitting area which is perfect for relaxing after dinner. Hotel restaurant serves great food and excellent service.

Review 16:Key for the safety box in our room was not available ( reportedly it was lost). However a central safety box at the reception was offerred instead.

Review 17:Great location, very nice, friendly staff. Spacious, relaxing resort, plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas available at the private beach and at the pool - no need to rush in the morning :-). Good quality tennis court, nice boats for rent in the harbour.

Review 18:buffet meal went for quantity rather than quality but I could've chosen a la carte, so in the end, the hotel does give a choice!

Review 19:breathtaking view, excellent pool, very relaxing - would be easy to stay a long time here

Review 20:If you are looking for a romantic and relaxing getaway, this is the place to stay! It is very peaceful and relaxing, exactly what we were looking for. We stayed in a Junior Suite and the view was lovely! The room was spotless. The staff was ultra-professional, kind, courteous. They go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and ensure that all your needs are being met during your stay. Excellent location if you walk a lot; it is less than a mile from the town of Porto San Paolo. In the Restaurant, the ambience is beautiful with a great sea view and an excellent choice of Italian dishes. The pool and beach area was perfect with sun beds, lounge chairs, and many places to hang out. We absolutely loved this place because it was built to feel like it part of the island Would highly recommend it and we will hopefully return.

Review 21:shower with hot, cold experience, mouses, birds in the gym, ants sneaking up on you, pool a little worn down, but not too bad

Review 22:staff at reception, rooms very cosy, view from pool, private beach, courtesy room when you stay after check out

Review 23:Beach area is limited and right next to a public beach which can be noisy. Some rooms are only reached by many steps.

Review 24:The location is beautiful and in easy reach of Olbia. The hotel lives up to its 4 star rating.

Review 25:Food was quite expensive. And because of the relative isolation, one really need a car.

Review 26:Fantastic view of the sea. Wonderful setting of the rooms on a hill. Great saltwater pool. Breakfast was great too.

Review 27:Beautifull hotel, sardinian traditional design theme. Rellaxing atmosphere, inn and outside hotel. Amazing landscape. I fell like i've just turn back to childhood, visiting grandma ( a lot more stylish grandma ;) )....

Review 28:I was delayed by one day for my arrival consequently I paid for all 3 nights as per my reservation. I uppgraded the room and paid for the upgrade for two nights I was there. Considering that the hotel was less than 50% occupied and I paid for the night I was not there it would have been nice if the hotel had not charged me for the upgrade. A 4 star hotel in the USA would have done that without a blink of an eye. It is good marketing and great client relation that would have not cost anything to Don Diego. Marketing costs money and such accomodation would have gone a long way as free advertising. Don Diego has a long way to go in marketing to catch up with the 4 star hotel in the USA.

Review 29:The gym equipment is dated and not really good to use.

Review 30:The views that this hotel offers are stunning. We had a junior suite which was perfect for us, good size and sea view. Staff are fantastic, polite and friendly.

Review 31:A warm welcome as a returning guest. Staff are exceptionally good . Breakfasts and Dinner of a high quality.

Review 32:Nothing really

Review 33:Location, helpful staff

Review 34:Lovely staff, gorgeous place and view was the best I've ever seen!

Review 35:Wish rooms would be bigger

Review 36:Nearly everything

Review 37:Not much selection for breakfast

Review 38:Superb location Very friendly staff

Review 39:Location

Review 40:Rooms were very small and dark. Food very expensive- a 1 litre bottle of water was €3.90!

Review 41:Excellent location. Very friendly staff

Review 42:the room was 5min walk to the main building

Review 43:Excellent breakfast !

Review 44:No fresh orange juicy at breakfast

Review 45:Rooms have been refurbished and are nice & comfy

Review 46:Really beautiful place to relax next to the sea and have nice time!

Review 47:Location was great - away form the road and very quiet. Staff were very good always helpful but not in your face all the time

Review 48:Beautiful location; 20 minutes from Olbia; friendly professional staff; good food at reasonable prices.

Review 49:Stunning grounds and rooms. Delicious regional restaurant and poolside bar options.

Review 50:Great staff, view, location, food, services!

Review 51:Didn't stay long enough

Review 52:Fantastic location,very friendly staff,will be back

Review 53:Some of breakfast staff .

Review 54:Location and style.

Review 55:Beach was very small, but it is easy to go to other beaches, if have a car or a boat

Review 56:Restaurant was very good. Boat rental is recommendable

Review 57:Standard rooms

Review 58:Location,seaside, junior suite

Review 59:The restaurant is rather dated and old fashioned.

Review 60:Location and private beach, and lovely food

Review 61:Standard rooms, are just bare! need urgent renovation.Hard bed Plastic bath cabin Assume the focus of the hotel is beach, food and drink. Since we did not spend much time in the room guess one can survive it. Nevertheless would have been nice to have been able to take a comfortable shower without being enclosed in a half a meter by half plastic shower cabin. Since the rest are fabulous, I give this hotel 9/10 marks.

Review 62:Quality hotel staff Excellent reception staff A Fantastic super beach Excellent food and wine. Super location

Review 63:No wifi even in a 400€ room Forget about 3G as well Remote location no Life at night Unbelievable high prices with absolutly no adequation with service : palace prices in no more than 3stars hôtel. And Sometimes in motel (the 100s an 200s room are that bad) Furnitures stuck in the 80s Bed uncomfortable Restaurant is médium (and Forget to take your coffee a the table ... You ll be prompted to go have it at the bar)

Review 64:Magnificient view over tavolara Island (provided you stay in the priciest rooms)

Review 65:For older people it could be a bit difficult getting up to some of the villas, but there is transport.

Review 66:The hotel is welcoming and is beautifully decorated with care and taste. There are places to lounge around both inside and near the pool. We especially enjoyed sitting at the bar and listening to the live music. The restaurant is in keeping with the decor and the food excellent. The staff was friendly, extremely helpful.

Review 67:I saw some negative feedback on the prices in the bar / restaurant. They are, compared to the local Sardinian standards, relatively high. However I must admit that the quality is extremely good and at home I would pay these prices for this kind of quality without hesitation.

Review 68:The private beach, the pool, the size of the room, the private terrace belonging to the room, the staff and the relaxing atmosphere. We, young couple with a baby, were treated in a very pleasant way. We would like to come back.

Review 69:- Hotel is for sure 3* and not 4* and is very old needs refurbishment- if you travel with your own car to reach the hotel it is best to have a jeep, the road (last 2km) is completely damaged - I have almost destroyed my new car - the superb pool has salt water ??? - no market/restaurant any near this place (5km minimum) - prices in the hotel are completely crazy: 6 euro for a 0.33 local beer (2,5 euro for 6 bottles in normal shop) - to eat dinner you have to pay 35 euro + drinks = so you fast come up to 100 euro for 2 persons - the rooms do not have to many windows (rather small) - like in a Catacombs - standard rooms are located 800m from the pool/beach - the road is very hard to walk this distance with a Baby transport (buggy) - it is uphill/downhill many times and very stony - the stuff is a bit lazy - the bed lining is made from plastic - it gets wet and hot in the night - first time I see something like this in my life - you can hear other people outside / vice versa - I have found 3 different types of bugs in the room e.g. (earwig, mosquito, etc.) Summarizing the stay was very pleasant and relaxing, I also was the person seeing the photos on the booking.com and going for it without any questions and it is probably one of the best located hotels in Sardinia, but that is it, the rest is poor, we booked for the last minute price and therefore it was ok, but it is 100% not worth the regular price. I liked the place so much, but I would not pay once more not even the last minute price. It is fast at the end of the list of all our 10 Sardinia hotels.

Review 70:We were traveling with newborn thru whole Sardinia 2 weeks September2013 (10 hotels), this one has- great view - super location of beach and pool - super places to relax - silence - very good breakfest - marina - good food - good location to travel to Olbia 10km (Auchan)

Review 71:This hotel is way to expansive for what it offers. The rooms are verydark. The beds are very hard and small for a 4 stars hotel. Thebreakfast is very very poor. When in Italy I expected to have at leastone sort of Parma and Parmesan but all the offered was old bread, 1 sortof salami and 1 sort of cheese. The rest was only sweets ?!! Thebreakfast area had an awful smell. Except for the pool and see viewthere is nothing in this hotel that justifies the overprice.

Review 72:The Hotel has an awesome view. The people are friendly and helpful.

Review 73:The staff were not friendly and didn't make us feel welcome. The food and drink were extremely over priced...6 euro for a 50cl bottle of beer and 7 euro for a small sandwich!!!! We were charged again for the room which we had prepaid. Would not stay there again.

Review 74:Lovely pool and private beach.

Review 75:Loved everything.

Review 76:I would descibe this hotel as a boutique hotel, it was sylish, small and has great facilities and wonderful friendly staff. It was my daughter's birthday and they kindly made a beautiful cake for her.

Review 77:We loved the private beach & the beautiful poolside area. The customerservice from each person we encountered was excellent. Thank youMassimiliano for his help in making our honeymoon even more special :)We will definitely be returning to the idyllic Don Diego!!

Review 78:I would like to see an ala carte menu for in the future. I would come again alone but I do not like to have every night a 5 course dinner.

Review 79:the gardens, the beach, the quiet private harbor, the interior design in the hotel, the breakfast service(good coffee!!!!!!) There is also a library with a nice selection in many languages. And a small gym to work off the tiramasu.

Review 80:Excelent ubication, nice and perfect beach, quite good installations.

Review 81:Nothing

Review 82:Location, Rooms, Cleanliness, Staff.

Review 83:The hotel was very nice and relax but the bed was not comfortable and the room was really big and clean I like it

Review 84:Just a wonderful hotel . We hope to come again next year.

Review 85:Too expensive meals with a quite low quality of staff.

Review 86:Perfect private beach and pool zone, beautiful sea view.

Review 87:The restaurant food is too ordinary for what they charge, it is a ripoff. The window's rooms need mosquito nets.

Review 88:The beach

Review 89:retsaurant- quality of the food- poor, breakfast- every day the same, no variety.

Review 90:authentic sardinian style

Review 91:Excellent unobtrusive service, unique location, cleanliness, quiet
