Reviews for Suite D'Autore Art Design Gallery
Review 1:Unique design for every room. Staff was attentive and helpful - good local recommendations. Positioned in the center of the old city. Great Italian coffee breakfast with a view.
Review 2:Not enough hot water. We get up early and want to shower. Suggest you get a timer if you don't want heater on all night. Hot water should be available by 7 a.m Even later, it was only warm.
Review 3:Location was great; comfy bed and room; staff very helpful and pleasant. Interesting rooms and fun.
Review 4:We had the traditional suite, it was great as it was really large & we had been travelling many weeks & had a lot of luggage so great to spread out. The room has a balcony which overlooks the square to the cathedral, & minutes to main town. Ectore, the owner, is a charming & generous host. He was visiting the roman villa the morning we were going & offered us a lift there & back, which was a real bonus. The roman villa is amazing, don't miss it. The hotel is an eclectic arthouse with many types of rooms. You will not be disappointed. Just make sure you enter the town from the right way, not the the very windy old entrance.
Review 5:Fantastic Art Hotel. The rooms follow a theme and absolutely take your breath away.Ettore the owner went out of his way to help us and was very generous. All the staff were friendly and fun.
Review 6:The town Piazza Armerina is wonderful. It's difficult to drive around and the hotel receptionist came down to our car and guided us to a great free place to park. The hotel is hip and groovy but still quiet and comfortable.
Review 7:Difficult navigating the tiny streets to get there as its an old town on top of a hill. You definitely need GPS to get there as its situated amongst rural farming lands.
Review 8:The art exhibited was very interesting. Breakfast was included and very good and so was the coffee. Very helpful with our laundry. All staff very nice.
Review 9:Difficult to drive to the hotel. Church bells ring on the quarter hour between 6 am and 12 midnight!
Review 10:Beautiful room, welcoming staff and lovely location
Review 11:No coffee making facility in room. Not told about 3rd floor bar on arrival. Only discovered bar at breakfast the next day. Would have been good to have had a drink in bar during the evening of our stay.
Review 12:Our stay at the hotel was perfect in every way. The room was decorated with pop art furniture and pictures and we had a balcony overlooking the cathedral. The owner was very friendly and helpful.
Review 13:Not a thing!
Review 14:Wonderful imaginative hotel in a fantastic location overlooking the square. We had a great friendly welcome which made us feel at home. A great experience all round. Highly recommended.
Review 15:We liked everything about it.
Review 16:The design and art of the rooms. View of cathedral and city. Owner and staff friendly. Two very good restaurants open late within walking distance. Delicious breakfast, many choices.
Review 17:Getting there. It is a great spot on top of the town, next door to the duomo, but i I could have done with clear instructions about how to get to the hotel. I was terrified as my satnav took me up and down alleys that were too narrow for motor traffic. I needed a double gin to recover from the experience
Review 18:I liked the hotel itself and its ambience. Small "art" hotels can provide a terrific alternative experience to the normal hotel, as did this.
Review 19:The chimes from the Duomo start at 6am and go every 15 minutes outside the window! Luckily we had to be up early for the airport.
Review 20:We spent the last night of our honeymoon here. It was amazing. We were shown 3 rooms and given a choice. Each one was so unique and I fell in love with our fluidity room! The view of the Duomo was amazing and the location so convenient. The manager was lovely and so helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Review 21:Shower could have been a bit hotter.
Review 22:This is a fun place. You couldnt be located more centrally with a room with a full view of the Duomo. Free parking on the Piaza Duomo no problem. Great breakfasts in the open air on the roof with a fabulous 3D view.
Review 23:Trying to be arty but fails miserably. Not cool. A bit dirty and not a comfortable place to stay. Wifi doesn't work.
Review 24:Friendly staff. Nice location near the Duomo
Review 25:Our first floor room opened to the piazza which was very noisy until the cathedral lights went out.
Review 26:Outstanding staff! They have a beautiful rooftop terrace for breakfast & cocktails. Also, this was the only small hotel with a lift. Every effort was made for us to be comfortable.
Review 27:Lack of space to unpack and no shelves or storage facility other than a wire with eight hangers.
Review 28:The artistic collection of paintings, statues and installations and the superb breakfast room on the 3rd floor. Great food, great service from the staff and with a fantastic view to start the day.
Review 29:Noisy water pipes disturbed sleep. Shaggy rug needed good hoover/shake out - a bit off putting.
Review 30:Loved the location at the top of the hill by the cathedral. Easy, free parking. Great views from roof terrace where an excellent breakfast was served.Liked the creative decor.
Review 31:The view from our room was about as good as it gets. A full view of the duomo and the square in front of it. You are right at the top of the hill and everything is below. Very good breakfast.
Review 32:It's not often you stay in a hotel where you desperately want to be shown round every other guest room in the place. We got to see only two. At Suite d'Autore each room is individually themed and decorated with art, all of which is for sale, produced by artists from near and far. The art may not all be of the finest quality, but who cares when it's laid out this thoughtfully, with genuine care and attention to detail. The kaleidoscope of colours, objects and images, not to mention the wonderfully friendly staff, make this the most original, exciting and innovative hotel I've ever stayed in.
Review 33:Drive up there ,narrow streets, one ways.... It's Sicily!
Review 34:Great staff, great breakfast, Amazing rooms each one in a different pop art style, clever funky and stylish. Fantastic views.
Review 35:We enjoyed it, but it did remind us of staying at a friend’s apartment when we were in graduate school. This is a special place, very informal, very casual, but with a unique charm.
Review 36:Quirky hotel in perfect location. Woman on the front desk extremely helpful and her style seemed to blend in perfectly with the hotel theme (quirky, fun, attractive).
Review 37:Some rooms now looking dated
Review 38:Friendly helpful staff lovely breakfast room and terrace
Review 39:Very nice hotel, great location, good breakfast, very friendly, parking no problem
Review 40:The shower could be a bit hotter.
Review 41:It's fun, including the drive up and out of Piazza Amerina.
Review 42:Dodgy wifi
Review 43:Whole experience.
Review 44:The Duomo bell rings a lot.
Review 45:Location. Funky art.
Review 46:location brilliant, querky and fun hotel
Review 47:The location, right in the muddle if the historical center, I would definitely recommend it.
Review 48:Water could have been hotter
Review 49:Breakfast great Staff wonderful
Review 50:We liked the fact that the hotel had character, the room was spacious with a lounge in the loft, and the breakfast was delicious, with a great view.
Review 51:Although the bathroom was clean there was a smell that came from the drains which didn't clear with the window open. Everything else was great.
Review 52:Bed was very hard.
Review 53:Loved the location, staff were great, breakfast excellent, views terrific.
Review 54:Nothing
Review 55:Super friendly and helpful staff Perfect location
Review 56:This hotel is in a beautiful location at the center of town on the top of the hill in the duomo plaza. The rooms are all very imaginatively decorated, while also being very comfortable. The breakfast is good and plentiful, and the staff very attentive. Highly recommended!
Review 57:Ineffective air conditioning. Poor breakfast compared to the 5 other less expensive Sicilian hotels we have stayed in
Review 58:Great round and comfortable bed. Interesting room with excellent view of cathedral. Spacious Free parking
Review 59:This nice small hotel is settled down in the highest point of the city, 20 meters near Cathedral, which you can see from the windows. All the rooms are very original and decorated by different designers. The hotel looks like museum. There are a lot of pictures on the walls of the rooms and coridors, and you can buy everything, what you like. The bar on the 4 floor offers beautiful view on the city. You can reach many good restaurants without 10 minutes walk. We could note no one shortcoming of the hotel because of kindness and responsiveness of all the people who works there.
Review 60:I was sleeping in the mezzanine and did not feel very safe going down to the bathroom at night due to the fact that the railing was not stable.
Review 61:Paulina, David and Ettore (the owner) responded to our queries in a timely manner. They are very good hosts and make you feel at home. The breakfast was great.
Review 62:Great location at the very top of the city, opposite the Duomo. Good for exploring the town. Funky and eclectic rooms, comfortable bed, helpful staff, good breakfast in a great room with views.
Review 63:It is just possible that more traditionally-minded people would find some of the decor odd, but we loved it.
Review 64:Wonderfully whacky hotel and marvellous rooftop breakfast. Enchanting young lady seemed to be operating the hotel single-handed most efficiently.
Review 65:Wonderful location by the duomo. Staff were extremely helpful. Wifi available. We drove to villa casala very quickly from here, but a bus to there also stops outside the hotel.
Review 66:Missing fresh croissants second breakfast.
Review 67:Top location, comfortable bed, room was large, lucky to get a lift from fellow guests! Staff very helpful, helped with some translations day 2 which really helped for rest of trip. Very clean place.
Review 68:a bit old-fasioned (to our taste) interior
Review 69:Staff was extremely helpful and accomodating (e.g., offered us to chose one of two available rooms, ensured we've got good wi-fi coverage, made recommendations for sightseeing etc).
Review 70:Excellent location - overlooking the Cathedral; the rooms were fantastic - individually decorated with original art works; the bed was wonderful and the spa-bath a real treat. Staff were great, and the breakfast was certainly the most impressive we had in our 6 week trip to Sicily.
Review 71:bedding rather old duomo though beautiful has bells which ring the quarters all night! had a jacuzzi bath but not hot enough water to put in it
Review 72:rooms are decorated with style - a bit dotty! location next to the duomo is very italian , and easy to find! beautiful breakfast views
Review 73:There is a clock on the nearby church which chimes every quarter hour (ie at 24.30 it chimes 14times!)making it difficult to sleep, although this is certainly not the fault of the hotel. There is no kettle in room. The in-room plumbing is noisy and hot water is slow if the weather is bad as it is solar powered. There are no communal areas apart from the breakfast room and although a bar is advertised there was none when we arrived on a Sunday. The main door closes early and with it access to the lift, so you have to be able to walk up stairs.
Review 74:Parking is easy and the decor is quite amusing. Breakfast is reasonable with a selection of sweet and savoury. There was a bath in the room. The lift is good.Everything very clean. It is an easy walk to bars and ristoranti.Staff is helpful.
Review 75:This is the place to stay when you visit Villa Casala. Originaldecorated rooms with view on the piazza and the doumo.Friendly welcomewith all the explanations you ask for. Very elaborated breakfast.
Review 76:The hotel is shabby. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. A big stain on the mattress did not help. Nice towels and robes. Excellent idea to combine an art gallery and a hotel, it has just not come off properly. Strong warning, the Dome bells toll quarterly, night and day.
Review 77:Two pillows per person rather than one would have been good.
Review 78:The hotel was really quirky in a beautiful building and great location across the square from the Duomo. The staff were really friendly and helpful and great fun to chat to. The breakfast was lovely - coming out of the lift and smelling the delicious Sicilian pastries - perfect.
Review 79:The hotel is extremely well located, right by the Duomo, and in spiteof this it's very quiet (room on the inner courtyard). Each room isdifferent, spacious and very well designed. Both girls who work thereare very helpful and forthcoming, and the owner, Ettore, ispassionate about his town and it's many cultural assets. PiazzaArmerina is a beautiful locality, easy going, filled with churchesand history, without even mentioning the roamn Villa del Casale andit's wonderful mosaics.
Review 80:The design shower made a swimming pool of the bathroom, because of a construction failure.
Review 81:Beautiful hotel, in the centre of the ancient city of Piazza Armerina. The rooms were all different, and extraordinarily well designed. The woman at the reception was very nice and showed us several rooms. The breakfast room at the top floor is beautifull and has a great view!
Review 82:Breakfast menu should be definitelly improved, it was quite poor. Fresh bread and some ham and cheese would make a big difference.
Review 83:Very nice and friendly, excellent location, good design.
Review 84:A great place - unique even - and worth paying that little bit extra, Also, and a real plus, in Sicily there is stacks of car parking space outside. You have to choose a mountain view or the duomo square and the bells are loud so if you're a light sleeper the back is better. breakfast was good too.
Review 85:Decoration of rooms a nightmare! Bathroom stinks, most of the rooms have a smell, bed awfull, bed linnen and towels very, very worn and rather unclean or poorly washed, a feeling that everything was bought from a second hand shop, from furniture to bed linnen.Limited and poor quality breakfast, the croissants very half unbaked, for 5 occupied double rooms there were 3 marmelade servings, the worst quality of toast,no cheese/ham/eggs not even to be ordered and paid extra. The young lady who made breakfast, was also at the reception and did her best but it took 15 minutes to a cup of coffee!
Review 86:Location -perfect -in the center of old town, free parking space
Review 87:This is a really special hotel with unusual, modern design in the rooms, and a lovely helpful staff. The location across from the main cathedralis fantastic.
Review 88:This hotel is a special destination of its own, definately has a huge"wow" factor. Each room is different and totally amazing, plus each oneis really just beautiful. Also the room we stayed in had an amazing viewover the Duomo and the Duomo square. And in addition to that every roomhas a jacuzzi. Seriously, the hotel is an experience of its own.
Review 89:Loved it,what a fantastic place to stay. Wonderfully different-funky art all over the hotel;what a great place
Review 90:It doesn't happen so frequently to sleep inside an Art Gallery! And the window of our room was in front of the cathedral!
Review 91:heating
Review 92:Very helpfull staff. Beautyfull and Original rooms Terrific location
Review 93:Funky! And Piazza Armerina is a town worth discovering, not to mentionthe incredible Villa Romana di Casaale
Review 94:Design, location e staff
Review 95:Excellent location staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and each was decorated differently.
Review 96:Warm welcome, quirky imaginative rooms, great baths, great breakfast, top location -- a real winner.
Review 97:Fun, avant-garde decor, friendly helpful staff, great location.
