Reviews for Sangallo Palace

Review 1:Breakfast buffet terrific. Close to a main street leading into the center...good restaurants, reasonable prices in this section of town. Made Perugia more accessible and relaxed. Across from bus station which we needed.

Review 2:Make sure that you ask for a quiet room. Otherwise you will be overlooking the street. A lot of people gather on the street at the restaurant until late, so you might find that distracting.

Review 3:For the money, this is a nice place. There are actual frescoes on the ceilings. Staff is very helpful.

Review 4:No elevator, climbing two flights to room. Would like a clock and Kleenex in room.

Review 5:Friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Good views of Voltera's walls.

Review 6:Breakfast was beyond poor. If you were starving it was edible, otherwise best avoided. Parking lot is very hard to find. A staff member came with us the first evening, otherwise we'd still be looking for it.

Review 7:Great location. Large comfortable room.

Review 8:We use Sangallo for our stay in Perugia for years. Very convinient location in heart of the town. Easy access and parking nearby. Clean and comfort facility

Review 9:The fire alarm! O my word that was handled so badly. Surely there should be more than one member of staff on duty in a hotel that size at night. The man on reception did not understand how to handle the guests and we were left for over an hour at 1am not knowing what the problem was! The fact the restaurant is closed on a Monday and that his not notified to guests was also very inconvenient. The set up with the swimming pool and having to have different access cards which no one told us about was irritating. There were no towels available. The hotel was very busy with music students at the time we stayed and the weather was not good so the outside terrace was not set up so perhaps it is not a fair reflection of the property.

Review 10:The location was good and the breakfast was good. The two room set up we were given was very helpful and good value for money.

Review 11:None

Review 12:Very good location near centre of town. Comfortable bed , friendly and efficient staff and good breakfast. Able to park on property ( had to pay). Also had a fridge in room, had good WIFI and air con.

Review 13:The staff at the front desk were incredibly rude. They have very poor customer service skills which put a real damper on my experience in Perugia.

Review 14:Location of the hotel was great.

Review 15:Swimming pool a bit too small No parking in the hotel (though there is one nearby)

Review 16:Good location, just a the entrance of the old city center Very comfortable Very competent staff

Review 17:View of a main road!

Review 18:Location superb for Perugia centre and also for the jazz concert. Efficient staff, wonderful cool and comfy room. Loved the breakfast.

Review 19:Air conditioning in room was not very effective.

Review 20:Ease of finding the hotel. Quiet and just 10 minutes walk from the centre of the town. Good breakfast!

Review 21:Not a bad experience but it was difficult to park the car to register in. We had go round about three times even though we located the hotel very easily once off the motorway.

Review 22:Location and ambiance.

Review 23:Noise, noise, noise. You can close the windows of course - there is air condition and working- but if you do not like to have it on all the time and you are tempted to open the window during sunny Italian day or hot night - it is very disturbing. Very small swimming pool. Breakfast - having canned fruit in summer, in Italy was a bit of a disappointment.

Review 24:Proximity to the bus station and to the old town

Review 25:no kettle in room and noisy revellers in next room,we called down to reception but only one person on so he was unable to leave the desk.

Review 26:Plenty of choice at breakfast and a convenient location.

Review 27:Poor breakfast; bathroom ok, but very dark in the shower; toilet paper could be of better quality

Review 28:Location, comfortable and clean room, good restaurant, helpfull staff

Review 29:The mattress was very hard. Everything else very good.

Review 30:Great location very close to the escalators up to the old town. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 31:There was nothing that we didn't like.

Review 32:Well-located for centro. Staff really helpful and very friendly. The hotel is well looked after and clean. We enjoyed a really nice meal in the restaurant.

Review 33:When we arrived, we were informed of our room number, given the key and told where the elevator was, no assistance with cases. The sheets were linen- like sleep sleeping in sackcloth. The face / hand towels were also linen - no drying properties, fortunately they supplied cotton bath towels. Breakfast- failed to replenish the buffet scrambled eggs when finished, had to ask the waiter, were then given individual plates. Shower leaked over the bathroom floor.

Review 34:Location, ease of getting up to the main town ( escalator). Good restaurant for evening dining. Room adequate size, clean, small balcony.

Review 35:We certainly had no bad experience to report - the service from all staff was excellent and we would certainly return to Hotel SAngello if the opportunity arose

Review 36:Close proximity to old town and also to escalators adjoining old town to hotel location - beautiful room with rural views from balcony whilst being quiet in the evening

Review 37:The hotel looks like it was last made over in the 80's so a bit dated in decor. The beds were not particularly comfortable considering we booked the superior room.no tea or coffee making facilities.

Review 38:Convenient location in Perugia, very friendly staff, spotless room.

Review 39:Air conditioning didn't work well. Espresso/ cappuccino from machine and not good.

Review 40:Kids loved pool. Great location...very close to the scala mobile , the escalators which take you up to historic center.

Review 41:We did not use the restaurant for lunch or dinner but had breakfast. Other reviewers have criticised breakfast which concerned us but though it is certainly not the best we have experienced it was entirely adequate. ..juice, cereal, yoghurt, scrambled egg , bacon, sweet croissants, cakes etc. Good coffee! . Certainly a few additions would make a considerable difference.

Review 42:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room on 3rd floor with small balcony was a good size. The bed was huge and comfortable and the good quality bed linen was changed daily if you wished. The room and bathroom contained everything we needed and was kept spotless . Décor was very Italian. Wi fi was very good. Location was perfect for bus station which had links to rail station. The elevator system outside the hotel took you in 5 minutes to the centre where there were numerous good restaurants.

Review 43:Shuttle bus is waiting for you at the airport, eur8,-- each person. And the shuttle also picks you up from the hotel. About 25 minutes ride. We got a upgrades room with perfect view and a balcony! They change the sheets daily automatically, unless you tell them otherwise.

Review 44:The lack of tea/coffee making facilities, the lack of bedside lights and switches and substantial amount of water spilled in the bathroom due to inadequate non-spill bath partition.

Review 45:A very nice hotel right near the old city with its picture-perfect attractions. The rooms are Art Deco-ish style and very clean. The stuff is fluent in English and admirably efficient.

Review 46:Staff was rude; breakfast was overwhelming with too many people trying to get food and coffee. Need more organization and consider another coffee machine. Room was so hot that we had to have the window open. Parking was available but we were asked to park on a sidewalk and squeeze into a bigger car. My husband refused since we were paying for it.

Review 47:Great location next to the escalators up to the winter markets. We were able to walk around the entire city from our hotel. One staff member gave outstanding restaurant recommendations.

Review 48:Very poor breakfast selection, we were there for 6 days and we had breakfast elsewhere for 5 of those days, even though breakfast was included. Coffee machine breaking down, tea tepid, not much assistance from wait staff. Air conditioning in room not working well, so room too hot, can't imagine what it would be like in August!

Review 49:Very good location, as we had no car it was easy to access train station and Perugia historic centre. Quiet rooms.

Review 50:No complaints, but breakfast could have been better. Very small selection of fresh fruit. Croissants were stale both mornings. Coffee excellent.

Review 51:Desk manager, Umberto, was cordial, welcoming and helpful. We got immediate help with luggage and staff parked our car for us. Umberto gave us excellent dinner recommendations ( one for each night). One was very good; the other was our best dinner of two weeks in Italy.

Review 52:It is hard to get a dissapointing meal in Italy. The hotel restaurante managed to serve both a dinner with tough meat without taste and a really poor breakfast.

Review 53:Breakfast is average and coffee is not the best.

Review 54:Very friendly and helpful staff, clean, quiet, good facilities, short walk to centre of old town, parking available and good service generally. The restaurant is a cut above many in the city.

Review 55:The bed was far too hard for us for a good sleep and woke very sore in morning. Thought the restaurant downstairs let the hotel down even though it is run separately.

Review 56:The room was a good size to accommodate 2 adults with cases each. Service to rooms good. Staff very helpful with Umberto on front desk going beyond call of duty for us. Found bus station being over the road very useful for doing day trips. We used hotel as a base for 11 days and went out to other areas by bus or train. Easy located to upper town via escalator near hotels doorstep.

Review 57:Nothing to dislike!'

Review 58:Excellent, charming helpful staff. Parking very easy. Room was extremely clean and comfortable. Breakfast fine. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to friends. Very, very good value.

Review 59:Bed was a little too firm. You can't charge your phone without being in your room. They should have one electrical outlet you can use without having you card in the system.

Review 60:Location was close bus terminal and city center. Staff was very helpful in suggesting things to do and places to eat. Continental breakfast was very good.

Review 61:We did not like the breakfast buffet as it was very limited for people who like healthy food. There was limited fresh fruit but most of the food was sugary. I know this is what Italians like but it would have been nice to have more choice of healthy fare.

Review 62:The rooms were quite large and were quiet once you closed the windows. Everything was clean and well layed out and the staff were very helpful. We loved being able to take the bus to Assisi across the street and it was easy to reach the old town by walking up the hill.

Review 63:Unfortunately I found the staff to be bored and unfriendly. It was difficult to get a smile out of anyone.

Review 64:The hotel is well positioned for walking access to all parts of this wonderful old city. It is well maintained and provides comfortable accommodation.

Review 65:The breakfast was somewhat unimaginative.

Review 66:A modern hotel with an old fashioned approach to service. The desk staff in particular were more than knowledegeable - we lived here 20 yrs ago for 2 yrs so we know Perugia - they were as well polite and very helpful, down to the cheerful cleaning staff.

Review 67:I rarely complain about breakfast in an Italian hotel, since most Italian hotels stick to the very simplest offerings and that's just the way it is. But the breakfast at the Sangallo was really quite terrible, with completely unappealing offerings that were subpar even by the chintziest standards. In addition, the breakfast room had shabby stained tablecloths, and was stuff from lack of air conditioning. Open windows provided some relief, although it made the breakfast room abrasively noisy in the morning with so much traffic outside. (The hotel overlooks the bus depot). Air conditioning inside the rooms is also limited, and cooling down the room on a hot evening was a challenge and ended up interfering with our sleep.

Review 68:The desk staff at the Sangallo are truly lovely and the spaciousness of the rooms is a real plus, considering the generally lower prices for the city. Provided that the escalator to the center of town is working (it was briefly shut for emergency repairs during our stay) it is a fun and convenient location that includes some lovely views. Hotel is clean and double glazing makes the rooms quiet.

Review 69:Grey building, right on a roundabout. Not very attractive at first glance. But in fact a very nice hotel.

Review 70:Close to the city center with parking facilities. Friendly staff. Nice view. Comfortable rooms.

Review 71:Having to take the escalators to/from the old town. (The down escalators were out of order when we were there.) The breakfast was not the greatest and the dinner was quite awful. Having a TV in the restaurant also seemed rather tasteless. Towels and water would have been great in the gym. We were at a music festival and returned home around 11 at which time the bar was already closed. No towel hooks in the bathroom.

Review 72:Helpful staff, a small but convenient parking lot. A basic gym.

Review 73:Breakfast disappointing mainly because of the use of machines for juice and coffee that are tasteless. Good hotel but a bit "commercial" and very impersonal!

Review 74:The hotel is in good location, walking distance to old town.Rooms are nice and comfortable.

Review 75:Parts are looking a littel tired and the breakfast was not as varied as it could be .... unless you like cake

Review 76:Perfect location Very clean Very good staff

Review 77:Nothing.

Review 78:Friendly and helpful receptionists, a handy parking slot nearby, reasonable breakfast, good access to the elevator to the Old Town. http://magnumopus.manifo.com

Review 79:For a 4 star hotel I would expect a bit more quality in the breakfast, but at least it's free and there are a lot of things on the buffet. Oh, free wifi but it is not secured so can't do your banking, etc.

Review 80:Location great---1 block from escalator through the Rocca to Piazza Italia, out from lower level of hotel direct to bus station and to Arena for Jazz Festival. Staff pleasant.

Review 81:The coffee was terrible. It would be even better if they had more spots at the hotel for parking.

Review 82:The staff was very courteous & helpful & friendly. The hotel was very nice & in a good location. Certainly reasonably priced & worth the money.

Review 83:BEDS TOO HARD AND PILLOWS TOO THIN.

Review 84:LOCATION, FRIENDLINSS OF STAFF, BREAKFAST WAS GOOD , NOISE FREE ROOMS

Review 85:the location is great all Rome attractions are within walking distance. the hotel is clean and comfortable and the stuff is very supporting

Review 86:Hotel staff very pleasant and helpful. Although no onsite parking, public pay car park directly across the road. Close to historic centre.

Review 97:Nothing bad but beds very hard.

Review 98:Brilliant location, staff very helpful. Short walk up to historic centre.

Review 99:Great Place. Confortable, nice people.

Review 100:We enjoyed our stay but attention has to be given to the comfort of the beds. A mattress topper needs to be placed, the bed is too hard

Review 101:Staff were helpful and professional, cleaning ladies were lovely.Location was good.Breakfast was varied.

Review 102:Superb scrambled eggs! Best we've ever had!

Review 103:Brakfast could have been better.

Review 105:Very poor breakfast! Not suitable for a 4 star hotel!!!

Review 106:Ok location. Friendly stuff.

Review 107:poor wi-fi, needs better bar, showers were pretty uncomfortable.
