Reviews for Hotel Alma Domus
Review 1:Breakfast was somewhat limited. Unusual to have to give reception our room key every time we left the hotel.
Review 2:Nice bathroom. Room was good. Everything in Siena is very close.
Review 3:Very small room and bathroom. Bathroom, even in the renovated rooms are not good. Breakfast had a lot of packed items. Lots of stairs to get to the hotel.
Review 4:Great location and views.
Review 5:We had specifically asked for a double bed instead of a twin, but the room we got had two beds put together as one. The breakfast was average and should be improved and enriched.
Review 6:The room was clean and very comfortable, the furniture were nice and quite new and the view of the city of Siena deploying amphitheatrically was very good! Perfect way to start your day by opening the windows and seeing this view. Staff was kind and willing to help. The location is also really nice, very close to il Campo (main square) and offering very nice walking paths in Siena's beautiful little roads.
Review 7:The blankets smelled dust. The shower was in the middle of the bathroom and then it gets all wet as you take a shower.
Review 8:You can enter the city with the car to take your luggage if you are staying in this hotel. The receptionist was very nice and indicated some free parkings close to the hotel.
Review 9:The breakfast is not much; just pastries and fruit, cereal, or yogurt. There was nothing cooked, but they had croissants/jam and tea or coffee, so it was fine for the money.
Review 10:You can't beat this facility for the money; everything was clean and worked fine. The bed was comfortable. It's nothing fancy, but that wasn't what I was looking for.
Review 11:I stayed with My mom & daughter! We had an amazing time. Siena was so cold but our room was so warm. We were so confortable. Valentina & Lui were so nice and accommodating!! We had the greatest time!!
Review 12:The Alma Domus worked very well for our time in Siena. Its location was perfect and it was great value for the price. It is very basic but clean and worked for us. Breakfast was good.
Review 13:The rooms and bathrooms smelled funny like a hospital or old peoples home.
Review 14:Close to the main square of Siena, helpful staff and decent breakfast. Beautiful building aswell. Enjoyed the housekeeping services
Review 15:should advise best walking route to get to hotel from Railway station so that you don't have to walk upstairs (X 95 of them & steep!!) to arrive at Hotel
Review 16:The small double room was really small and the bathroom was cramped.
Review 17:Our room had a very nice view of the duomo. It had a small terrace where you can sit.
Review 18:Very cold floor in the room. Very poor breakfast focused only on sweet pastry.
Review 19:Amazing place close to the city center. Close to a free parking. Big room.
Review 20:The breakfast could be improved upon for the price paid. The place has a residence hall feel which would be okay if the nightly rate was lower.
Review 21:The location is ideal and the rooms are comfortable and clean.
Review 22:nothing - great stay all around.
Review 23:The location is excellent - just minutes from Piazza del Campo. 30 seconds away is Zest, a great place to get a drink if you're feeling like getting out of your room but not going far. The staff was incredibly helpful in getting us to San Gimignano with the bus, and all suggestions of places to go. Would highly recommend.
Review 24:Hotel tells you that parking is possible nearby. Nearest free parking is fifteen minutes walk away and we spent nearly an hour driving round the two car parks looking for a space. Lots of other cars driving around all hoping for someone to leave. Alternative is to park on road and pay. Parking is free overnight but you then need to walk some distance back to the car to,pay again. Hotel is in ZTL area. Would not recommend coming by car but to use public transport
Review 25:Lovely hotel in converted convent in old part of Siena. Had a lovely room nicely furnished with modern bathroomgreat view from our room and everything within walking distance. Nice selection of breakfast items.
Review 26:first room was in basement with 2 small single beds. On anniversity trip? My fault, I did not check what I got for low price. They fixed the issue and everything was great.
Review 27:@nd room was wonderful; view was fantastic, clean, comfortable and great location. Customer service was excellent in changing my mix up.
Review 28:It is a mix of a hotel (quality rooms with great views) and a hostel feel (basic breakfast with student groups staying).
Review 29:Superb location in Siena (getting a taxi for less than 10 Euros from the train station was our simplest way of locating it first time). Characterful building. Both our basic and our luxury rooms were great. Good restaurants on the door step.
Review 30:I really like this hotel. I have stayed here before and will be staying again. The staff are friendly and helpful, the location is good & there is a nice breakfast. The place has a nice 'feel' about it. The room was a little cool when I stayed this month (no heater) & it would be good to have a kettle in the room :) I had an economy room so not much of a view but some rooms have city views. Overall a very agreeable experience.
Review 31:I felt the front desk personnel could have been a little more friendly.
Review 32:The hotel was very clean, room was adequate, the breakfast was fair. The bathroom shower was extremely small and the water drained all over the floor. The hotel was close to everything.
Review 33:Not deal breakers by any means, but savory options for breakfast would have been nice. And kinder reception staff, one was actually rude!
Review 34:Despite the staff, I was so happy I chose Alma Domus for my stay. The actual facility is beauty as is its surroundings, with panoramic views of Siena. It was comfortable, clean, and I was ecstatic to have secured such a room at such a place for such a reasonable price.
Review 35:We were put in a room at the bottom floor, very very dark even during a sunny day. They apparently have great rooms with beautiful views. That was very unfortunate.
Review 36:Location, location, location! The hotel is in the historic town, staff was very helpful and attentive to details. They booked us tours and gave us good tips on where to eat.
Review 37:very hard to park the car BUT staff was able to navigate us to free parking spots
Review 38:great staff, beautiful view from the room to entire town, nice room carefully decorated in local style
Review 39:Getting luggage to this property is a nightmare. The grey haired gentleman acting as the receptionist was decidedly rude and inattentive. He was more interested in gazing at his beloved computer than listening to guests. He is a poor ambassador for this property and Siena.
Review 40:The location was fine
Review 41:Breakfast room slightly uninspiring
Review 42:Spacious and smart bedroom and bathroom Very good value for money Central - lovely location plus no noise as just off a cul-de-sac
Review 43:It's not quite as soundproof as I would like but it did quiet down early and was great for sleeping.
Review 44:Location was excellent. View was postcard perfect. Clean and quite. Easy to find.
Review 45:Great location near Il Campo, with a fully modern interior and a balcony overlooking the Duomo. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A great base to explore Siena!
Review 46:Location was great in Siena. We had a spectacular view of the city from our room which was so lovely to wake up to every morning and see if lite up before falling asleep. Room dated but clean. Did not mind having to turn key into front desk upon leaving as there was someone there 24/7 and it was once less item to worry about while out for the day. Also won't loose the key if you need electric since it needs to be activated with key, which we also did not mind. Breakfast in the morning was good with plenty of options other than pastries- yogurt and cereal also there among bread and pastries. Great value for the place and friendly staff.
Review 47:The breakfast is basic and the number of student groups staying while we were there did make it feel a little like a hostel at times - but it is such a good location and well run that these are minor matters.
Review 48:Excellent location with superb city views from both the rooms we stayed in. Immaculately clean.
Review 49:The guy who was at the night shift was not nice at all. The bathroom didnt have anything to separate the shower, so the water was all around.
Review 50:Rooms were ok. Breakfast was awesome and the location was very convinient.
Review 51:We did not have breakfast since the room is very dark and did not make us happy. We recommend to go to the Piazza and have a leisurely breakfast there, only EUR 10...
Review 52:Perfect location with a beautiful view. Close to the centre and very good restaurants on the doorstep.
Review 53:The walls were quite thin and our room was position next to the lift which beeped every time someone got in it.
Review 54:The location is great and not far from free parking space (5-10 min walk) which is good for Siena!
Review 55:Finding the hotel if you are driving is a total challenge. Additionally parking is another complicated issue. On the other hand the room Furniture is a little bit outdated
Review 56:Excellent location in the middle of Siena close to everything walking distance
Review 57:Staff is terrible, ask a question and they feel annoyed, if you talk to the night guy, he looks like he is busy doing something... The evening lady was on the phone, so it took 7 minutes to wait for my key (I was already check in)... The area is terribly noisy... I couldn't stay passing 2am... I left and went to another hotel... When I told the night guy I want to pay for my 4 hours stay (the worst part of my trip) he told me cash only and that he cannot give a receipt (too fishy) I demanded my receipt or a proof of payment and he finally did it after 15 minutes... suggestion don't stay there the management didn't care when I told them my story they just ignore my calls and emails... It's that popular that they know they will sell rooms...
Review 58:Location
Review 59:Windows not sound/smell proof. Music coming from the outside until late could be heard with closed windows. Cigarette smoke could be smelt from the bedroom, I think it was coming from the outside.
Review 60:Very clean bedroom with spacious bathroom. Great location.
Review 61:I can't remember one thing to mention here, except that we have to carry our luggage a few steps up and then down to the hotel entrance.
Review 62:Very beautiful hotel, located in the center of the city near the Duomo and Il Campo. We got a room with a fantastic view over the old town and the Duomo! The people in the reception were very nice and gave us all the information we needed. If we go back to Sienna definitely we choose this hotel again.
Review 63:My room was tucked in a corner next to S caterinas chapel. I had a lovely view of the duomo. The staff were amazing. The breakfast was perfect. The location was excellent. I was SO happy.
Review 64:Air conditioning didn't work, staff wouldn't take responsibility - told us no one else had complained, offered us another room at $65 more as the solution! Next day another staffer told us air was broken in several rooms. We believe we should have been given another room at no extra expense to us. Will never go back. Wifi weak as well.
Review 65:Good location, staff very helpful in finding parking space
Review 66:Just perfect
Review 67:The view from my room was breathtaking, the staff was helpful, kind and sweet. The location and value for money. I left very early so did not have breakfast.
Review 68:The room was dark, we had a very beautiful view of a wall wich made the room quite dark even with the lights on. You can hear the other rooms.
Review 69:The staff was very nice, they hold on our luggage even after check out. The hotel is well situated in Sienna
Review 70:While in the historic part of Sienna, the hotel is modern, comfortable and within 5-7 mins. of Pa. del Campo. The staff were most helpful with maps taxis etc., and in particular the lady who recommended Papei restaurant for local Tuscan food in a square just beyond Campo. Most enjoyable evening there, good food, great service, lovely staff. Good breakfast. Most enjoyable stay.
Review 71:The lady receptionist was quite rude to my mother and myself, on the day we were leaving we were taking our bags out and our room doors slammed behind us by accident and she very rudely shouted down the hall, "Don't slam the doors" her who attitude is just unacceptable for a receptionist of a hotel. My fiance and myself were also put in the room right next to the reception and therefore heard the receptionist and other guests talking and coming in and out throughout the night which made it very difficult for us to sleep.
Review 72:Great location with a few lovely restaurants very close by. Lovely spacious rooms, very clean
Review 73:Breakfast was not great!
Review 74:Loved the location and an amazing pizza restaurant across the road!the WiFi was good, clean accomidation and the staff happy to help you!Not far from all attractions!
Review 75:The room I got was completely different from the pictures shown on the website. I got the cheapest twin room available but was very disappointed when I arrived and I saw that it looked like a youth hostel with a bathroom that reminded of a hospital bathroom. The man at reception was quite rude a lot of the time. I found the hotel room disappointing because I was expecting a room like the one shown in the photos and I think the price I paid was quite steep given the quality.
Review 76:Great location, clean room, flexible in adding another person to the booking, pointed us in direction of free parking space
Review 77:Felt the plastic disposable bowls and juice glasses a little unnecessary.
Review 78:Location is great as are the reception staff, all are very helpful. The lady at breakfast was super lovely! Breakfast is basic though ok
Review 79:No complaints!
Review 80:The staff was cordial, helpful and answered questions politely and patiently. Quiet, a lovely setting. Anna, the staff person in charge of the breakfast room/service was welcoming every morning and responded to my poor italian, smilingly...and made sure I got my cappucino each morning.....without my asking!!
Review 81:Wished the bathroom had a glass panel instead of a shower curtain. Reason being it sticks to your body and the floor is rather wet afterwards. There are quite a number of steps to climb so it may not be so ideal for some people.
Review 82:The lady receptionist was helpful when I needed to do some last minute printing and she also loaned me an adapter which I needed. Another male receptionist helped to fix my sunglasses for which I was immensely grateful. The breakfast was good and I especially love the croissant and the coffee. Wanted to buy some home but from the gesture of the waitress (as I can't understand Italian), it is not available from the supermarket. Another plus point is this hotel is near the bus station.
Review 83:We had connection problems, WIFI was not working properly. And the breakfast was moderate.
Review 84:We've stayed in a superior room and the view was spectacular.. One of the best i've ever seen..
Review 85:Breakfast - the choice
Review 86:Everything except breakfast Very good and helpful staff, a very quite location with an amazing view if you choose the right room.
Review 87:Breakfast was nit bad but I feel they could have included one portion of protein like cheese or ham?
Review 88:Beautiful and clean. Spacious bedroom. Great location and access to the old town as well as buses and taxis. Staff very helpful.
Review 89:No fridge in the room; parking not terribly convenient. A boiled egg at breakfast would have been nice.
Review 90:Very good location, up a few steps to four restaurants then only a few blocks to the centre of town, down a number of steps more to an escalator service up to the Duomo. A suberb view from our balcony across the city to the Duomo. Only rated one star, for some unknown reason, but deserves at least 3. Very pleasant and helpful staff.t Well recommended.
Review 91:1. Great location, close to everything. Restaurants at doorstep too. 2. Very helpful, proactive and pleasant staff who assisted in everything from tour and taxi bookings to general assistance in Siena 3. Great Wifi 4. Value for money - I had an economy room but it was very nice, with views of the Duomo and surrounds. 5. Pigeon-free, clean indoor environment.
Review 92:Bathrooms could use some updating
Review 93:Great and friendly staff. Location was in the center of historic siena, convenient to get to. View from the room was awesome, and air conditioning worked great.
Review 94:UHT Milk and sweetened orange juice. Couldn't open shower gel sachets with wet hands...
Review 95:1 below street level clean room with balcony ando complete with transparent curtain allowing for open balcony doors at night very secure and magnificent views. Everywhere walkable including station. Always ask for either street level or one down for room with a view.
Review 96:Staff did not appear to want to interact with you. Pillows and beds very poor quality.
Review 97:Location to everything, three good restaurants on the door step.
Review 98:Wish they had deli meat and cheese to go with the bread for breakfast or hard boiled eggs. They had mostly sweets for breakfast which I don't like first thing in the morning. No iron or mini fridge provided, and the shutters/curtains didn't block out enough light so we had to rig a blanket in the widow. Otherwise our baby would have woken up at 5am with the sun. :-P
Review 99:The view from the balcony was stunningly beautiful! The room was Spacious, with comfortable beds. They provided a crib for the baby. I would definitely come back to this hotel and I highly recommend it to others.
Review 100:Wonderful views of Siena, opening your window is a dream! Excellent comfort including air con and wifi and friendly staff. Quiet, bright and yet in the heart of Siena, we loved and would recommend to everyone!
Review 101:The bed and pillows were very hard. We came in late and had a hard time finding the hotel, The night staff person was not helpful on the phone.
Review 102:The location was great. Very beautiful, quiet, central. The day staff was nice and helpful. It was a very enjoyable part of our vacation.
Review 103:Bathroom floor got wet while showering.
Review 104:Amazing view of Duomo from balcony. As part of old cloister it was a very peaceful experience. Air con and wifi worked well. Good bike storage area.
Review 105:All customers should be told clearly when booking, as to which gate is closest to the hotel. We missed on this.
Review 106:We travelled around Italy for 2 weeks and stayed here for 5 days. The location as great. Our room on the top floor had excellent views and a balcony. Breakfast was very good. Staff were really helpful. Two great restaurants 50 meters away up the stairs was an added bonus.
Review 107:We stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay. We had stunning views of Siena including the tower and cathedral. The room was pleasant and relaxing. The staff were really helpful, showing is restaurant recommendation and where to make transport connections. Definitely recommended for a stay.
Review 108:Balcony had nowhere to actually sit, so I don't know if getting that on your room is necessary. Also a/c only works when you are in the room with a keycard, so returning to your room can get uncomfortable if it is a hot day.
Review 109:Nice staff, good location.
Review 110:Felt a little like a youth hostel due to the arrangements for breakfast and the noise from other residents. Coffee was virtually undrinkable.
Review 111:Great location with amazing views from the rooms across to the Duomo. Facilities clean and comfortable and overall considered it to be very good value for money.
Review 112:The beds were very hard and the pillows were also hard. You could hear everything that happened in the hallway from inside the room, which was a major downside in the morning.
Review 113:The air conditioning was a huge plus as well as the location. The views from our room were beautiful! The staff was friendly and the breakfast tasted great.
Review 114:The beds are quite hard (but it was a convent :), There is no separate enclosure for the shower so the whole bathroom gets wet which is quite annoying. The breakfast area is very stark and the selection quite basic.
Review 115:The location is excellent, the price was very good. It is very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. It is very basic but adequate for just sleeping and for the price you cannot ask for more.
Review 116:A little fridge will be nice to keep drinks cold.
Review 117:The view!!!!! Room and bath room sparkling clean. Air conditioner much appreciated. There is no other place to stay when you visit Siena!
Review 118:The man at the reception was friendly but not helpful.
Review 119:The view is really wonderful. We had the economy room. Although it was simple it was really clean, everything you need was there even the great view.
Review 120:Central location for exploring Siena. Breakfast was OK. 5 minute walk to Il Campo or the Piazza Gramsci (Bus Station). Good ristorantes just up the steps from the hotel.
Review 121:There was only sweet things to eat for breakfast, though plenty and good quality. I missed some cold ham and cheese but in overall great selection.
Review 122:I loved the location and the warm atmosphere of this hotel.
Review 123:The only downside is some of the rooms are a bit dark with not much of a view. This was not a deal-breaker for me personally though, as the location is excellent & I wasn't spending my holiday in the room! :)
Review 124:Polite efficient staff. Excellent location. Lovely terrace, Good sized en suite rooms & communal sitting room with computers. Will return.
Review 125:Distance from the station - taxi cost 10 euro when train from Pisa was only 6 euro. Buses are not clear, arriving you have to go into shopping centre opposite then down into basement. Also hard to know where to get off for hotel. I walked to station, 20 mins down hill is ok but takes 35 mins to walk up hill all the way back.
Review 126:Ideal location, short walk to all touristy points. View from balcony across to Dumo was fantastic. Room comfortable, aircon and with small balcony. Staff very helpful.
Review 127:From road entry there were approximately 25 steps down to the office with no lift so luggage had to be manhandled down and up to our room and then back to the road. This is an issue for older people.
Review 128:Comfortable and accessible with views to Duomo and city
Review 129:Lots of steps to reach enterance, very difficult if you are elderly and have a heavy luggage. No parking nearby, I had to park at the Fortress, about 1km distance. Staff not very sympatetic or helpful.
Review 130:Modern facilities in avery central location, easy walk to Campo. Good restaurant close by.
Review 131:Very spartan and the bathroom smelled bad. I was charged more than price quoted but the location was ideal and the surroundings were beautiful. The breakfast was good too.
Review 132:It's on a very steep street, and a challenge to get bags up and down. I'm an old guy but fit enough to do it, and even to help some people who were not fit enough. There are probably always people who will help
Review 133:The place is amazing. Much more than I expected.
Review 134:Only satnav problems
Review 135:This hotel was very comfortable and clean. Ideal for getting into the centre of Siena. Only a short 10 min walk. Word of warning - do not set satnav for the hotel street! You will end up in a residents parking zone dead end. Set for Viale de Mille and enter town through Porto de Domenica and head for Stadio. Hotel is down little lane next to church.
Review 136:Hotel was very difficult to reach; A long list of things that was not allowed; Only sweet breakfast, no eggs, no cold meat; Bathroom was way too small; Parking facilities horrendous
Review 137:Very near to the city centre
