Reviews for Palazzo Ravizza

Review 1:Small room As we are traveling with our baby, hot boiled water is very important and there was no kettle in the room, which is for me very odd in that kind of a nice hotel. The lady in the reception who greeted us during the check-in, said that they can boil the water for us whenever we want; however at night when I ask the gentleman in the reception, he was not very helpful; he offered the hot water in the machine; every mother would understand that you can not give any water to your baby; you need to know the source. When I don't want it, the gentleman in the restaurant helped me; however the receptionist did everything to make me understand that this is a one time favor, that he will not do it when I need again and offered me to do in the restaurant when we go out for dinner. That was for me very rude.

Review 2:Location was perfect, very close to the city center The building was original and had a very nice view, nice little garden private parking

Review 3:1) Nice location only ten minutes walking from "piazza del campo". 2) Nice view very nice tuscany country view from room(I stayed at room no.33). 3) Nice Architecture Old but elegant mansion.

Review 4:One of the loveliest experiences! The hotel was very nice, well located, very clean, lovely size room (Superior standard, street facing) immaculate throughout. The bathroom products were superb and of a quality comparable to those found in most 5-star hotels. The buffet breakfast was very good and served in a lovely room with garden views. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. They booked a tour of the duomo that I hadn't been able to book online. They advised upon and booked a restaurant for Christmas day lunch, which turned out to be one of the best and most atmospheric "local" restaurants my wife and I had been in in a long time. I really cannot fault this hotel and will certainly be using it when we go back to Siena later in 2016. Brilliant! (2 photos showing view from room and from garden)

Review 5:Close to Il Campo, views of countryside were fantastic, staff gave great recommendations for dinner at non-touristy places, breakfast very nice for not having hot food

Review 6:The standard twin room was terribly small and there was a big difference between the photo on the site and the room. I think the room should be a single room with a single bed. We changed the room and the room which we stayed was better but still small and the digital monitor of air conditioner faced to the bed and the monitor light disturbed me so I had to cover the monitor to get sleep.

Review 7:Breakfast was good and the view from the room.

Review 8:Staying in this hotel made other hotels on our trip look very mediocre. I.e. Palazzo Ravizza has spoiled us.

Review 9:The views from the garden, location, breakfast, spacious rooms. Made a short stay in Siena very memorable.

Review 10:The room was to hot during the night and there was nothing we could do about it (it was the central heating system, not the AC). We had to open the window and since we did it it was ok. However, in such a chilly night it was not supposed to have to sleep with an open window.

Review 11:The place is fantastic. A XV century building. Ideal for people who appreciate it. The view from the room was also lovely. The staff is also very nice and helpful.

Review 12:This hotel is stunning, a piece of history. We chose it because of the fantastic breakfast and numerous common areas where our group could meet and congregate. It is very peaceful and relaxing, the garden and view are fantastic. The location is just right, easy walk to the main parts of Siena yet out of the way enough to be more quiet. The staff were great, every restaurant we visited was one of their recommendations and they were exceptional. They helped arrange our onward travel and did a checkout the night before for part of group that had to leave at 6am. We were married in Siena on this trip and the hotel staff were a highlight, facilitating the arrival and welcome of wedding staff and booking taxis and everything else. I loved this hotel!

Review 13:Warm welcome even though we arrived early. Helpful service. The room (a superior room) was spacious and comfortable with a lovely view over the gardens and the Sienese countryside. The bed was excellent, breakfast good and the position of the hotel is just far enough out to be not too busy but close enough in for an easy stroll to the centre. Love it. We'll be back.

Review 14:The hotel is very conveniently located close to the Cathedral and El Campo. We enjoyed our 2 nights in this quaint hotel. The room and public areas were clean and well furnished. The breakfast was very good and the view from the courtyard was spectacular of the Tuscan countryside.

Review 15:Wonderful hotel with incredibly well appointed traditionally decorated rooms but with modern facilities. Close to the Duomo and Campo. Had secure parking. Would stay there again

Review 16:Facilities were more rustic than I expected given the prior score (9.1), but fine. Our room was tiny, being one of the smallest two rooms on our floor.

Review 17:Centrally located, right on edge of city centre. Breakfast was adequate. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. On-site parking was reasonably easy to access, given space constraints in city centre (3 minute drive and 2 minute walk back up). Staff were friendly.

Review 18:nothing. I wish they had a small restaurant for dinner etc. It must be very tasty I imagined!

Review 19:Breakfast was so tasty. Staff including cleaning lady were so kind. Nice shower room and amenity!

Review 20:The beds were harder than we liked. Everything else was wonderful

Review 21:The location couldn't have suited us more. The hotel had character and the staff was very helpful.

Review 22:Computer in lobby very slow, tried printing train tickets.

Review 23:The view from the patio was fantastic! Breakfast buffet was wonderful and staff did a super job trying to make our stay comfortable.

Review 24:The only thing that didn't measure up to the otherwise amazing accommodations was the shower. There was barely any pressure. Not a deal breaker, but it stood out as being the only weak spot.

Review 25:The room was spacious, clean, and absolutely comfortable. It's a historic hotel, and I'm not really the historic-hotel type, but I loved it, and the view of the garden and surrounding hillsides was one of the best parts of our entire trip to Italy. The breakfast was so good it was hard to get out of the hotel every morning. If I ever come back to Siena, I won't even bother looking at other hotels, I'll stay here.

Review 26:The beauty of the hotel itself the beauty of the setting and the view--I can probably say it was one of the top two or three places we have stayed in the world!

Review 27:Only thing we could think to put in this category was the breakfast selection was a bit limited and dull. But it was certainly adequate.

Review 28:Basically, we liked everything. Our room and bathroom were immense. Everything was clean and well maintained. Staff was pleasant and helpful. There were multiple available common areas, and a pleasant garden with a wonderful view. What's not to like - we'd return in an instant.

Review 29:If you're driving to Siena, make sure you get the directions to the hotel from the hotel's website or call the hotel for directions. No cars are allowed in old Siena without special permission and a GPS won't help you get there unless you have the hotel's explanation.

Review 30:Fantástic in every way! Would go again -- excellent location, spacious rooms and delicious breakfast. Also great value! And has parking!

Review 31:The hotel staff were excellent friendly and helpfull. The location is great, just a short walk from all the major attractions and many restaurants. On site parking is also available which is a bonus here.

Review 32:A peaceful location with a view over the countryside - you can walk to everything you would want to visit . Comfy bed, pillows and duvet. Great choice at breakfast , particularly enjoyed the seedy breads, very fresh croissants and choice of local salamis, tea and coffee making machine - tables overlooking the gardens. The Autumn mists here and there early in the morning when opening the bedroom windows was a lovely vista and made our day. Not forgetting the nice toiletries and experience of being in a well maintained historic house. Look forward to having another visit.

Review 33:The space in the bathroom was a little tight between the shower and the toilet. The air conditioning control panel light was bright and caused some sleep disturbance.

Review 34:Excellent location with parking included. Good breakfast. Useful advice re where to eat provided.

Review 35:lack of a kettle but besides that is just fantastic!! Maybe give the driving indications to go around the ZTL when booking, but when we called with this problem the staff were amazing at helping!

Review 36:We had a lovely stay. The Staff was very friendly and helpful! The location is great. The room was beautiful! The bed really comfortable! The breakfast was amazing! Everything was very fresh! Would definitely come back again!

Review 37:Nothing at all.

Review 38:Everything. Super helpful and friendly staff. Location, the beautiful garden with sunset and breakfast in the garden. Nice rooms, clean and with free wifi. Also parking is free.

Review 39:Garden chairs were a little bit musty smelling.

Review 40:Everything - beautiful rooms, comfortable bed, quiet, awesome breakfast (I want more of that salami!) and wonderful garden with terrific views of the contryside.

Review 41:Aircon was effective (and necessary!) but quite noisy.

Review 42:Stunning view across the Tuscan countryside. Extremely friendly, helpful and attentive staff. Beautiful building with real character in a great location. Easy walking distance to all major attractions of Siena. Lovely breakfast served in the garden with inspiring view.

Review 43:Wifi was out for 1.5-2 days. The area did experience a major storm which could have been a factor. Air conditioning was weak, but fairly typical for Italy. It's a 4-5 flight climb from parking lot to reception

Review 44:View from rooms overlooking garden and hills of Siena is great. You can walk to everything. Private parking lot. This is the second time we've stayed. You won't find much better inside the walls.

Review 45:Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Great location info within walking to everything. The breakfast was amazing and the view was beyond beautiful. We will definitely stay here again.

Review 46:If driving to the hotel, be sure to contact them before to get exact directions and not rely on your Sat Nav or you'll be directed through the center of Siena where only locals are permitted to drive!

Review 47:Perfect central location, garden is perfect to relax with some wine after a day exploring beautiful Siena!

Review 48:Could not get wifi to work.

Review 49:Very central and safe parking. Charming old hotel, carefully modernized.Helpful and pleasant staff. Nice breakfast in a beautiful garden with stunning views.Very clean. Will recommended this hotel,it was a very enjoyable stay.

Review 50:The breakfast offerings could have been better.

Review 51:We had a beautiful view from our room and the garden is a lovely place for breakfast or to relax. The hotel was relatively easy to find and the free parking was a big plus.

Review 52:The hotel location is also far which needs five mins driving or 15 mins walking to the city center.

Review 53:Large room, nice yard & breakfast in the garden.

Review 54:Room had a great view but was small. Sienna is overall to be avoided during the peak summer season. We will certainly go back in spring or fall and try out the palazzo with a bigger and more expensive room

Review 55:Superb location in Sienna, overlooking the countryside while being close to all major sites.

Review 56:Beautiful building in an excellent location . Friendly and professional staff, providing help and suggestions without being asked. Good breakfast.in a beautiful garden with view over the hills of Siena. Good parking facilities.

Review 57:Parking is misleading youcan't park outside the hotel.

Review 58:The hotel is located in a quiet road but within walking distance of the city wall and has an amazing garden with magnificent views.

Review 59:My only gripe was the wifi, very slow to connect and in some cases wouldn't at all. This is however a minor gripe in an otherwise very pleasant hotel.

Review 60:A nice hotel in Siena perfectly situated for exploring the city. This hotel has its own private secure parking which is included in the rate. This is important if arriving by car as Siena is a restricted traffic Zone. The hotel staff are bright and cheery. Happy to advise on good restaurants. Hotel has a great terrace with fantastic views over the country side.

Review 61:Excellent location very close to the centre of Sienna. The garden was absolutely fabulous with fantastic view for breakfast and shade during the siesta very suitable for reading or enjoying a glass of White wine.

Review 62:While located within the city walls and very close to the sights, the hotel has private parking that is very easy to get to. In addition, the staff is very nice and extremely helpful.

Review 63:We kept getting kicked off the WiFi and had to constantly reconnect.

Review 64:Room overlooking the garden was elegant and magical. Felt like you were staying in a country manor. Lovely garden to have breakfast in, or share an evening drink. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Review 65:Loved the feeling of being in a Medeival Castle-type hotel. The ceiling in our room was a beautiful Frescoe! Be sure to ask for a room overlooking the lovely shaded courtyard where you can sit and sip a Prosecco and munch on cheese and fruit. Sitting in the courtyard and eating the free yummy breakfast was a treat! We loved this place!

Review 66:The hotel is excellent. Very helpful staff who speaks good English and stays till 11pm or something. So dont worry about late check in. The hotel has its own garage which will need a temp permit that the hotel will offer to drive through ZTL area. The room is big enough for a couple and there is even a tub in the restroom. The breakfast is the touch. With good food and coffee in the morning at the private garden with unbeatable Tuscany view is definitely the best memory in Siena for us.

Review 67:Incredible hotel. Felt like we were in a Castle in the Superior Room. Clean clean clean! Front desk gave us superb recommendations for restaurant. Room was huge. Breakfast in the garden had a view to die for. Walking distance to everything. Loved it! Book without hesitation.

Review 68:The first time coming to Siena it can be confusing finding the hotel, you have to use the WEST entrance to the old town. We drove down from Florence, it was great driving on route 222 (the scenic drive thru Chianti) however driving from 222 to the Tangenziale highway was a bit challenging. Once you're on the Tangenziale take the Ovest exit (west exit) and the hotel is near this entrance.

Review 69:The hotel is located on the rim of the old city so it's quiet and easy to park and enter. The breakfast in the garden is wonderful.

Review 70:The view in the garden is incredible, the breakfast was the best we hadon our vacation, The beds and sheets were comfortable, the room wasgigantic and amazing - Felt like we were royalty, the staff were kindand informative The wine was priced well. We will be back!

Review 71:the hotel is in an excellent location to explore the city and the car parking is a real benefit. Great views from garden side. it is not a modern hotel but is good value for money.

Review 72:A bit tricky to get there if you don't know Siena (the streets in Siena are very narrow and full of pedestrians). Sometimes the wifi was not working in the mornings but it worked perfectly the rest of the day.

Review 73:This hotel is very well located in Siena, 10 min walking from the duomo, 15 to the piazza del campo. The hotel has free parking which is also a plus in the city. We got a very nice big room that had even a walking closet (we were two but there was a lot of rum for more people). The staff is very friendly. The breakfast was good. Good option to stay in Siena.

Review 74:Terrible WiFi.

Review 75:Great Staff. Lovely Room. Bathroom had a bath and a shower which was a plus!. Private Parking at rear of hotel. Lovely Gardens. Nice breakfast. Hotel is in a good location.

Review 76:A little on the pricey side for one of Italy's secondary international destinations- not Venice or Rome, but as high as Florence. It is also a little complicated to get to by private vehicle without a GPS and detailed, good local street map showing one ways and limited access driving zones.

Review 77:Spacious room, great staff and ample, well prepared, breakfast

Review 78:Our room faced the front of the hotel, which is a lousy view of a dirty street and lots of noise. Ask for a room on the back side that overlooks Tuscany.

Review 79:Staff were all ok, but no one seemed in charge or to really have any commitment to the place. the limited air system was not explained and very hard to understand and operate. Windows did not work properly - one couldn't close, one couldn't open. we were given and charged for a room with a gigantic spa which did not request or use, so the shower was tiny. furniture was old and tired "junktique". all would have been ok for 1/2 to 2/3 the price.

Review 80:the garden

Review 81:We liked just how close the hotel was to all the sights of Siena. Having drinks on the terrace watching the sun set over the Tuscan hills was special.

Review 82:Mentally very relaxing. Physically quite demanding for the more mature. It requires a fair bit of climbing up and down hills!

Review 83:Beautiful views. Stunning terrace.

Review 84:No cooked breakfast but good variety.

Review 85:Large room, clean and modern shower and bath. Free parking, a little tricky to find. Nice breakfast and reasonably priced priced drinks available.

Review 86:Very large palazzo converted into a hotel. Beautifully appointed in the rooms and throughout the hotel. Excellent staff/service. Buffet breakfast is outstanding. Good location on a quite side street

Review 87:We love the view from the garden-facing rooms, the elegant simplicity and the bookshop. The 5 minutes walk to Piazza del Campo is the right distance from the crowds of tourists.

Review 88:Parking there is strange as you need to go behind the hotel; but all staff provide you a map and explanation it's easy but go first to reception to ask. Breakfast layout is organized a bite strange... it's good but the breakfast could be layout a bite better for the clients. No big deal as we love this hotel! View in the garden is a must!

Review 89:We loved the views, the room, shower and being close to the center but in a quiet area. Staff it was very good. In the summer having a drink in the garden with that view it's a must!

Review 90:The room was not as clean as I would like. The noise level in the room was high from both the street below and the hall.

Review 91:Location for walking to city vp center was ideal. Onsite parking was a bonus.

Review 92:A little noisy over street, but not too bad. Church bells all night...but not much to be done about that!

Review 93:Easy to access free parking, recently renovated room, easy access to center, great restaurant recommendations. Recommend garden-view room (we had street view) for view and quiet

Review 94:the toilet was too high! feet did not reach the floor and we are average height.

Review 95:Fresh bread for breakfast was superb. The bed was extremely comfortable. Lovely view.

Review 96:It was winter and we couldn't go in the lovely garden. Next time in summer.

Review 97:This hotel came highly recommended and we were not disappointed. Franchesca at the front desk was terrific. The location is fine An added plus was the great breakfast.

Review 98:Rooms rather small (goes along with castle atmosphere) Parking situation quite tense so cars tend to block each other sometimes We were freezing at the breakfast area downstairs.

Review 99:Outstanding view on toscanian landscape Atmosphere of old castle

Review 100:Wonderful location within a short walk of Duomo & Campo. Friendly, helpful staff. The hotel has all the elegance you would expect from a palazzo but with all the modern amenities. Unload luggage directly in front of hotel, the drive to huge, locked parking lot below with a short climb through private garden back to hotel. Beautiful, bright breakfast room with good selection. Lovely room on top floor with view across valley. Can't wait to return!

Review 101:The staff went out of their way to make us comfortable. The Christmas market was that weekend and the city was overrun with people...our hotel was close to everything by foot, good breakfast, rooms were large and beautifully accomodated. Would love to stay there again.

Review 102:This hotel is great. The staff was very helpful, they have a private parking (with no time limit), the rooms are beautiful, really cute and clean and it is just a couple of minutes walk from the center. I can only recommend it.

Review 103:Unloading/loading our car was a bit of a headache since all of the historic area is in a traffic restricted zone. I would have been happier if they had a bellman to help with our bags. I'm surprised they don't offer that service. The only thing on offer was a luggage cart that we could use, which was better than nothing.

Review 104:I loved the cozyness of the rooms. The hotel had a lovely historic feel to it. Everything was immaculate and we especially enjoyed the heavenly soft bed sheets--the best of our trip! It was close enough to the major sites in Siena. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Lovely!

Review 105:Breakfast could be improved with the addition of something hot - (besides coffee), especially for winter months.

Review 106:View of Siena and countryside below remains spectacular. Garden is still quiet and lovely. New elevator is a plus.

Review 107:Nothing!

Review 108:Lovely hotel in perfect location, just a short walk to the main area of Siena. It was good to have hotel parking, but definitely drop your bags at reception via the front of the hotel before parking the car as there are quite a few steps from the car park up to the hotel. All the staff were very pleasant. We would definitely stay in this hotel again.

Review 109:Nothing.

Review 110:The palace is pretty close to the city center - definitely walking distance - but still in a quiet area, one side overlooking a lovely garden with a great view. WiFi was free and working perfectly, interesting bookstore with a wide range of english books, breakfast was great and for us, traveling by car, having the private parking was simply perfect. Staff was super helpful. Definitely worth value for money and looking forward to come back in spring or summer, next time we'll request a room with the garden view.

Review 111:The breakfast is a bit poor

Review 112:Location is perfect for sightseeing. Every point of interest is within 5-10 minutes walk. The room is big and cozy. High ceiling

Review 113:I loved location was close to center but not in the middle of town. 5 min walk Garden is beautiful and receptionist spoke English and had great suggestions Thank you Elena! So worth your money!!! I'm glad I randly selected this great priced hotel!!!

Review 114:We had stayed at the Ravizza years ago, back when they had a restaurant and offered dinner as part of your reservation. Alas, that turned out to be economically impossible to continue, but it did not affect the ambiance of the Palazzo. You can imagine some count living there, enjoying the gardens and fountain and arbors. We had room 126. It was roomy, the bath good with typical shower in the tub with a glass water shield. Access for driving was easy as they gave good instructions. Getting to the parking lot is easy and the climb from it through the hotel’s gardens is easy. All in all no problem. Breakfast was good but not as big a selection as other hotels we stayed at during this trip. While the hotel is not ‘close’ to the Campo, it’s only a few minute’s walk through the streets and generally convenient to all the sights. WiFi was available in the room although the connection was spotty at times. We saw this at other hotels, especially those in older buildings with thick walls. We would definitely stay here again.

Review 115:Breakfast could have had more variety.

Review 116:Good hotel with ample car parking, once we had found it! Not easily recognisable. Comfortable large room, spotlessly clean. Friendly, helpful staff all with good English.

Review 117:Although we chose a superior double room it looked out onto the road which lacked any charm whatsoever. We like to sleep with the window open but this proved a bad decision. The traffic noise was dreadful all night long. We should have closed windows and turned on a/c. Suggest you pay extra to ensure garden room or make sure you book one of the superior doubles thart is on garden side.

Review 118:The location of this hotel was excellent, just a stone throw from main centre. The common garden and sitting areas are excellent also. We chose a superior double room which was wonderful with plenty of space. Our room had a beautiful bath and separate shower. Room and front desk service was good and Elena was especially helpful... A classic hotel!

Review 119:Not much difference in style and facilities between the standard and superior room we had in our group of four.

Review 120:The staff were very helpful, especially the receptionist, and the building and gardens were lovely. Breakfast spread was varied and generous,The parking was free and conveniently located. Very good location, close to all the sights.

Review 121:We guess this hotel is only for people travelling without any car !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Impossible to drive into this so called palazzo. Would never advise anybody booking with this place
