Reviews for Torre Dantona - Country Hotel

Review 1:The bathroom needs some maintenance and we missed a shower. The room was not very clean (e.g. lots of dust under the bed and windowsill. The sun beds around the swimming pool had no pillows so not very comfortable.

Review 2:Very friendly staff, excellent food and wines in their restaurant.

Review 3:For such a beautiful building the room was a let down. Nothing striking about it. The TV had only one movie channel and given that the hotel is in the countryside with nothing to do we asked for a movie on demand. The receptionist did not know how to operate it and had to call SKY representatives. After several tries it worked just in time before the movie started so I'm grateful for the effort. The breakfast was a complete let down. There were 10 cakes of the sweet type and when I asked whether it was normal to have so much sweet items on the buffet the reply was in the affirmative. I asked a second time and she confessed that she had not yet prepared the savory items such as eggs, ham, cheese and bread despite the fact that we went during breakfast hours. There were two savory type cakes but no basic food items. The coffee was not good either which is disappointing especially being in Italy I expect good coffee. No facilities such as cigarette machines are available. It is such a shame that such a beautiful building is met with poor facilities and service especially when all you want to do is just stay there and relax. A change in management is recommended.

Review 4:The only thing I liked about the hotel is the building, garden and pool area. It is stunning.

Review 5:hard to find but we know where it is now and WILL be back for sure

Review 6:everything was great and the evening meal gorgeous . great friendly staff and beautifully furnished/decorated with a fabulous pool, plenty of safe parking. we have already recommended this hotel to our friends. very easy access to Pozzallo port for crossings to Malta

Review 7:We were there in mid April, I guess well before they were ready for the usual tourist season, although they knew back in October that we were coming. The toilet when we arrived had many deal insects lying on the bottom, despite the usual hygiene declaration on the toilet. Pigeons have infested the rooftop of the main building and we had to listen to pigeons in the morning and in the evening....if we had been in the room in the afternoon, then we would have had day long coo-ing. They sounded as though they were in the room. One of the staff seemed to have trouble dealing with this gay couple staying at the property. When we first arrived he had trouble composing himself...he seemed to have found it funny. The other staff were very professional. There is no laundry service available and after 2 weeks travelling around Sicily we needed to clean our clothes. We had to find, with no assistance from the staff, a cleaner in Pozzallo. We chose the property partly because there is a pool: it had not been cleaned, the bottom had many leaves and there were many dead insects on the surface because they had not kept the water level at the level of the skimmer. They fixed this after 2 days. There were very few guests but the ones that we talked to all said the same thing which was, that the restaurant was superb but it was a weird hotel. After a day I came to think that the owners seem to have a notion of the site being a wedding reception locale and a hotel as back up. The chairs in the restaurant are straight out of a wedding catalogue. I guess I would say that I was disappointed that the rest of the facility did not meet the high standards of the restaurant.

Review 8:The best feature of this property is the restaurant. Florinda, the chef and her assistant offered wonderful meals over our 5 night stay. We can not overstate the great cuisine at this location. Marina di Modica was less than 10 minutes drive, so the beach was near.

Review 9:Big room, pretty premises. Now well indicated, no problem to find it with navigator ( tomtom hotels category). Good dinner and breakfast. Friendly staff.

Review 10:We drove by the correct turning a couple of times but then noticed the signs for the hotel from the main road.

Review 11:A lovely property of character, we arrived after a long drive from Amalfi and the staff could not do enough to make us welcome, including a small meal from the restaurant in our room. A very well run hotel in beautiful surrounding, and very reasonably priced. What not to like?

Review 12:The staff were absolutely lovely. Really helpful. The evening meal was delicious - a great menu. If you want peace and quiet with beach nearby this is a great place

Review 13:1) Lack of directions and not easy to get there! 2) The music during dinner was really annoying! 3) The dining hall has no atmosphere...

Review 14:1) We loved the architecture and design - really good conversion of an old building 2) Garden is beautifully kept - lovely! 3) Receptionist was helpful and friendly 4) our room was upgraded - brilliant!

Review 15:The location is remote but not in a good way. Across a nearby road is a large industrial park. Not a place to go for a walk or take in the views. Difficult to find without a gps. No wi-fi in the rooms, only at reception. Our room smelled a bit moldy. For the price, I expected more. And found more for less in other parts of Sicily.

Review 16:A lovely restored property that feels authentic and relaxing. The breakfast was nice but a lot of cakes and sweets.

Review 17:Only staying one night!

Review 18:We were travelling by car from London to Gozo (Malta) and needed a stop over the night before getting the ferry from Pozzolla - Torre Dantona was about 10 minutes away, and looked good on its web-site. Not the easiest place to find, but we'll worth the effort. Everything was excellent.

Review 34:an access; it is very hard to find it

Review 35:everything

Review 36:Little remote, but fine once you have a car and are happy to drive everywhere

Review 37:Beautiful room, breakfast, pool, friendly staff.

Review 38:Nothing .... Perhaps not easy to find ... But ring them. They will come and meet you.

Review 39:Beautiful quiet secluded setting with very good facilities.

Review 40:Very bumpy country unmade lane only access. Roads in Sicily in general, apart from Autostrade, are pretty third world-joined potholes!

Review 41:A beautiful renovation of an old country house in the fields just outside Marina di Modica. Lovely gardens and pool area. Good privacy and nice restaurant.

Review 42:Extremely difficult to actually locate in spite of an up to date map and e mail directions from the hotel. The season in Southern Sicily had not started in Mid May - this meant that there was only one other Restaurant open in nearby village of Marina del Modica - so there was no choice but to eat dinner at Torre Dantona each evening - after three nights we "done it "

Review 43:Near the Coast Location

Review 44:Very difficult to find - the receptionist had to rescue us and guide us in. I told the receptionist that they really must improve their signs. they replied that many guests had problems finding them anad that they would pass the comment onto the Manager/owner

Review 45:Lovely staff, very helpful. Excellent food in the restaurant. Very pretty hotel, set in pretty gardens. Very peaceful. Lovely salt-water pool. Very good breakfast.

Review 46:Location hard to find, but when we called the hotel to ask fordirections, they offered to find us in the town of Marina di Modica andguide us to the hotel. Excellent service!

Review 47:Very pretty room and environment, all very luxurious at anunbeatable price

Review 48:Very restful place, quiet and near to sights.

Review 49:It was very difficult to find the location.

Review 50:There are so many insects in the room. They tried to clean it, but still we met some. The breakfast was same every morning.
