Reviews for Hotel Universal Port

Review 1:It's a bit expensive but nothing really bad

Review 2:The staff are really nice and polite and the hotel is very posh and done well as its close to universal studios

Review 3:A bit too pricey and less space for charging family room rate. No undercover pedestrian access to and from station

Review 4:Pretty close but there is a closer hotel to universal studio

Review 5:There was no pool or onsen or any English speaking channels which they need. Even cnn was in Japanese as was the movie channels The breakfast was terrible for westerners hardly any fruit. Eggs runny

Review 6:Rooms were nice and location great

Review 7:The counter staff speaks very little english. The airport shuttle is not catered for hotel guests rather its more for visitors to universal studios so if you check out and wish to take the airport shuttle to airport just be prepared to 'drag' your baggages all the way from the hotel to the carpark entrance of universal studios and be punctual and be at the waiting station because the driver wont take you if you are a minute late and not at the waiting station.

Review 8:This hotel is near universal studios. Can buy universal studios tickets at the hotel. Save on queueing at the entrance of universal studios. The room is just the right size to accommodate 4 adults.Osaka pass is available at the hotel counter. Can use for free rides on board the Captain Line ferry, train rides and free admissions to some places of interest. Take the free Ferris wheel ride with this pass. Its just across the bay.

Review 9:Nothing. Everything was 100%.

Review 10:I stayed at Hotel Universal Port Osaka in mid-Dec 2015 with my 10 year old son. We arrived late at night and were welcomed by the hotel's very friendly staff. We were upgraded free of charge to a bigger twin-bed room which for Japanese standards was very big and comfortable. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and absolutely loved everything about it, it is at walking distance from Universal studios (the main reason we stayed there in the first place), it is clean, comfortable, friendly and great value for money. The hotel is also at walking distance from many restaurants, ATM's and most importantly, a train station. It also has a ticketing office for Universal (to save you the queues) and for the Osaka Kaiyukan aquarium which is a 2 minute ferry ride away, with the ferry's pier being located literally at the hotel's doorsteps. Thank you very much to everyone at the hotel. We really had a 5 star stay *****

Review 11:None

Review 12:The four bedder room was a good size. It's a walking distance to train station, Universal Studio n the near by mall. I also like d freebies such as the patch, hair brush, tooth brush that come with d room.

Review 13:No complaints

Review 14:Location great , a walk across the street to Univeral studios and the jetty to board the boat to Legoland and aquarium right in front of the hotel . Very helpful friendly staff . The hotel matches the Universal studio theme, with minions all over And a more permanent dinosaur theme and massive fish tank . Breakfasts were delicious

Review 15:There was really nothing about this hotel that we didn't like.

Review 16:Location is amazing! The value for the expense is without compare. By far, the most amenities and comfort for the price that we've experienced.

Review 17:The extra bed is a sofa bed, which is kind of "hard".

Review 18:The hotel is new, and the room is spacious for 3 persons in a room. As compare with city hotel, with slightly cheaper rates, but much smaller room, this is very comfortable.

Review 19:- Incredible polite staff. - Near to most important Osaka attractions (Universal Studios, Osaka Aquarium, Cosmo tower, Santa Maria Cruise). " Tickets for most of these can be bought directly from the hotel" and " you can hear relaxing universal studios music from the room all day ". - Subway station about 2 min. away. - Nice river view. - Fine open buffet breakfast and lunch.

Review 20:I didn't like being charged for the wrong room rate,i didn't like being spoken to rudely, the breakfast was cold and the only positive was the location.

Review 21:the location

Review 22:Do not have a swimming pool

Review 23:A friendly and thoughtful hotel that provide many ammeties including facial wash, facial serum, bubble bath and herbal healing pad. Room was spacious and kids love it!

Review 24:It would be thoughtful to provide guests with shuttle to USJ bus services as it is quite a walk especially in winter/rainy weather.

Review 25:Comfortable and spacious room.

Review 26:Leaving!

Review 27:Hotel amenities, home away from home feeling, the amazing view of USJ, the staff were prepared and ready to assist with everything you could imagine.

Review 28:I was there for 4 nights, suggest can do a little change everyday for the morning breakfast so that wont feel boring for the the long stay guests.

Review 29:Room is spacious and excellent staff, especially the kids facilities in the hotel, my kids love the minion theme.

Review 30:Finding the location was a little difficult as it was not among the rows of hotel located in Universal City but rather a traffic light away from Universal Studio Japan

Review 31:The room had really nice views and its located right next to Universal Studio Japan so after a day of playing, its easy to get back quickly when you're tired. The amenities provided were really thoughtful as well ranging from full shower sets to muscle relieve patches.

Review 32:No complaints!

Review 33:The staff are friendly. The rooms are lovely, very spacious for japanese standards with great bathroom. Had a nice view over Universal Studios at night.

Review 34:There was nothing we didn't like.

Review 35:The staff were amazing - so attentive. They couldn't do enough to help you. The rooms were well equipped with all the toiletries you could possibly need including toothbrush/paste, face wash/ moisturiser , hairbrush/ band etc. They were also very kind to our children. The hotel was beautiful and set up for children, they had it decorated in minions for their 10 th anniversary . There was a little convenience store/ cafe on the ground floor that was convenient. Short walk to universal studios and universal walk. Everything we needed was close by including ferry to get to the aquarium. Also train station nearby.

Review 36:No food service after 10 pm everything nearby also close so if you missed your dinner and tired to go out the only solution go to the 24 hr supermarket you may find some snak to eat it's only 5 min walk

Review 37:The view was great, the room was good it's small but functional, everything you need it available in it, very close to osaka universal studios only 5 min walk, also near the marine and aquarium park also they have a counter ticket to buy for universal studios and aquarium park

Review 38:These are minor things, but the pillows were very uncomfortable. The beds are hard. My husband loved the hardness of the beds, but they were too hard for my kids. Bathing was awkward. It was literally a bath room!

Review 39:The breakfast buffet was the best we have ever experienced. The rooms were very clean. We stayed in a quad room, and it was very large for Japanese hotels. Good bedside lamps for reading.

Review 40:Walking distance to USJ. Family orientated. We travelled as family of four. All the amenities are come with set of four in four different colors. The staff are very helpful.

Review 41:On the expensive side. Quite far from downtown Osaka.

Review 42:Rooms were big and spacious and could easily accommodate a family of 4. Very accessible to Universal Studios.

Review 43:No specific bad experience but it wasn't clear when booking how far the hotel is from Osaka. Universal City environment is not really what older visitors are looking for. Difficult for English speakers.

Review 44:See positive points above

Review 45:Improve variety of food and just a little in the bedrooms, improve pillow quality as everything was great except for the pillow.

Review 46:Liked the rooms and how complete it was.

Review 47:Due to the small room size, it can be a bit difficult to navigate from point a to point b when our stuff were lying around. There was no enough space to store our luggage and 2 backpacks

Review 48:The hotel was decorated with Minions during our visit, it was fun. The room might be small, but it was clean and homey. I got a view of USJ. The pyjamas were super cute and comfortable. I went "awwww" when I saw the amenities. Plus there was a port (hence the name), at the back side of the hotel, with a ferry leading to the aquarium, which went unexplored because of the schedule. Will be sure to explore then the next time we're staying.

Review 49:The pillows are a bit odd, filled with beans of some sort. The staff were very friendly and tried to help whenever necessary but some had very little English language, but we did get by.Breakfast not really suited to our fussy eater, but plenty of other places to eat

Review 50:Universal Port Hotel is located within walking distance of USJ. The hotel was very clean and tidy, the room size was pretty good by Japanese standards. We stayed 6 nights and enjoyed being close to USJ and also the Universal City train station. We were also able to buy tickets for the park in the hotel foyer

Review 51:The constant jumping on the floor in the room above was too loud for guests in the below room. Screaming kids throughout the hotel were also too loud to be respectful of other guests. For this caliber of hotel I expected a much higher understanding of English and ability to speak some.

Review 52:Rooms were very clean and had great facilities. Great spot for universal studios. Loved the minions theme in the hotel.

Review 53:l like its location and clients can buy the tickets of Univeral Studio in advance. Besides, its website is great as it includes all the necessary informaion.

Review 54:The staff spoke english but limited to the the normal check in and out conversation. Dont expect much information from them if you need to ask them anything else. But thats normal in japan.

Review 55:Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was big for japanese standards. Location excellent near to USJ train station and ferry to the aquarium. Very convenient.

Review 56:If going to Universal Studio, the best place without the huge price tag. Walk to the train precinct where all the restaurants are both western and Asian.

Review 57:The beds were really hard which is expected from Japan. But the pillows weren't fluffy they were filled with beads and very very hard.

Review 58:It was extremely close to universal. Most of the staff speaks English. You can buy your tickets for universal at the hotel which is very convenient. It will help to avoid the long lines in the morning.

Review 59:Not much of a view, but that was due to the fact that Universal Studios had nothig much to see anyway!

Review 60:Friendly and helpful staff, great location for visiting Universal Studios, fantastic breakfast buffet spread.

Review 61:- Distance from Bus Drop-Off Point. We chose to take the airport limousine bus directly from Kansai International Airport (KIX) to the hotel. It was the most direct transfer from the airport without having to change stations and lug our baggage if we had taken the train. The distance from the bus drop-off point is a good 10 to 15 minutes walk. This may sound like a short walk but it got quite tiring with our suitcases after the first few minutes. Additionally, it was initially a puzzle as to how to get onto the road level in order to go to the hotel. We finally discovered an elevator hidden in a remote corner (it's directly opposite the Universal Studios shop at the entrance, near the ticketing booths).

Review 62:- Excellent Service - the staff at Universal Port are excellent - from the minute we arrive until we checked out, everyone is always smiling, helpful, cheerful. We feel really well taken care of, thank you.- Excellent Location - a few minutes' walk to train station, Universal Studios (in fact, we can see the Hollywood Dream rides from our room window) and ferry terminal to aquarium is right at the back of hotel. - Reasonable F&B prices at cafes on lobby level. - Interesting good array of merchandise at shops on lobby level. - Minions - we love how they're everywhere !

Review 63:I really do not enjoy those pillows with the little beads inside. I had to grab two of the soft pillows from the couch in the room to use instead because that's all that was offered.

Review 64:I loved the bathroom and the free toiletries (such as hair ties) because it's so easy to forget those little things! The Universal movie channel was great for us non-Japanese speakers, too.

Review 65:got a room with 3 single beds for around $275 per night but the 3rd bed was actually a fold out sofa made to look like a bed. Japanese hotels as a whole are expensive because they like to charge "per person" not per room.

Review 66:nice location, room was spacious and staff was nice. USJ tickets were on sale in the lobby which helps to avoid the lines.

Review 67:only could say the hard pillows, full of wheat, no other option

Review 68:great place, close to universal and somewhere to eat, pity only had 1 night here rooms were great size for 3

Review 69:The hotel was also located a bit out of the Universal City Walk area. There were also no English channels on TV. The price of the rom we booked, though understandably (as it is a peak period), was rather high.

Review 70:Very very well furnished rooms. Fast wifi. Rather convenient location - just a few minutes walk from the station, but without shelter on the way. Friendly staff.

Review 71:Airing system is not that good. The room reeked of cigarette smoke littel bit.

Review 72:Room size is suitable comparing other Japanese hotel. Staffs are very kind and having a nice smile.

Review 73:Bathroom walls need to be cleaned or re-painted or at least maintained.

Review 74:Love the Japanese style bath and separate shower. Beautiful hotel. The rooms were very nice.

Review 75:Price is a little high due to no breakfast included.

Review 76:Location is great for any family who want to enter the USJ early in the morning. Hotel packs with full facilities including postal service to ship all souvenirs back home.

Review 77:Location was great especially if you are planning to go to Universal Studios Japan, only around a 5mins walk from the hotel. Staff members can speak english and are very helpful. Stayed in the 4 single beds in 1 room, was spacious, neat and tidy along with a big bathroom plus an added bonus with the view from the hotel!

Review 78:I felt very welcomed. Staff was fantastic, except when I had questions at the Universal Studios ticket counter in the hotel. The gentleman couldn't answer my questions, he could only show me options on menu like cards.

Review 79:If you plan to visit Universal Park, it's an excellent location. Otherwise there are better options. The WiFi signal was weak in some part of the room. We had a quadruple room with generous spaces. The proximity with the City Walk of the Park gives plenty of choices for the meals.

Review 80:The hotel accommodated my family very well. We booked a suite initially but once we arrived asked to upgrade to a family room and our request was granted. We were glad we did because it gave us more wiggle room for the kids to be themselves. We loved everything from the Elmo talking door bell to the step stool and bubble bath for the children to enjoy.

Review 81:No windows could be opened for some fresh air.

Review 82:The whole package. The professionalism of every staff even the older ladies who helped with sending the luggages by courier. Very impressed!

Review 83:Location far from center city , difficult to get out with train station but once you would know it , become easy

Review 84:Western style hotel Excellent staff and helpful Room size good compared to Japan hotels Next to universal city walk , has everything you would need

Review 85:The beds and pillows were very hard and uncomfortable.

Review 86:Great location right next to USJ, city walk and the train station. Staff were very friendly and helpful but sometimes communication was a little difficult as English was limited.

Review 87:I have nothing but praise for the staff of Hotel Universal Port - they promptly responded to all our queries, which helped us in planning our itinerary even before we left for Japan. The same level of service was provided to us when we reached the hotel. They also followed our request for a good view on a quiet floor and allowed a late check-out for us. I also liked how we were able to buy tickets for Universal Studios from them directly and how it was near enough to Universal Studios and the train station, without being in the actual busy area of Universal City Walk.

Review 88:Everything was amazing, from the entrance to the staff to my experience here. Right outside the train station and universal studios. Super convenient. I'd definitely stay there again.

Review 89:limited shopping limited restaurant outlets outdated decoration - Easter decoration still there when we visited in July?!

Review 90:Helpful staff Proximity to the park

Review 91:Not a complaint, but wish we'd asked for a Universal view room.

Review 92:Larger than typical room, comfortable, and with excellent amenities. Five minute walk to Universal, and two minutes to Citywalk, which has a well stocked Lawsons. English speaking front desk staff and concierge.

Review 93:Airport limo bus does not stop in front of the hotel. We had to carry our luggages from the hotel to the train stations and bus station.

Review 94:USJ is just approx. 10 minute walk. Rooms have great views. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 95:There was no pool, and if you want to eat in between set meal times you have to buy from vending machines or walk down the street.

Review 96:The family was visiting Universal Studios and this hotel was within short walking distance. The view of the entire park was great from the Hotel window. Staff was very welcoming and polite.

Review 97:We had a debit card problem but the staff worked hard to resolve it.

Review 98:Helpful friendly staff, great breakfast with allergens well identified, conveniently located to rail station and Universal Studios. Concierge was helpful and could speak English well.

Review 99:Small issue : the slippers given ere jot comfy and rather sticky.

Review 100:The upgraded room is fabulous with modern design especially the toilets. The room is spacious for Japan standard.

Review 101:The room and toilet were big enough and the front desk was also very helpful. They also had a separate front desk for purchase of Universal Studios and their express pass tickets as well as the ferry and Kaiyukan tickets which made life a lot easier for us.

Review 102:Even with the a/c on, the room never really felt cool. I felt alittle sweaty while I was laying in bed. There aren't any signs fromthe station to tell you where the hotel is. I ended up going in thewrong direction through City Walk and had to turn around when I finallysaw the hotel because it seemed to be blocked off by new construction. The twin beds were placed way too close together for my comfort. Istayed in the room with a friend, but we aren't close enough friendsfor me to feel comfortable sleeping that close to her, however the roomwas too expensive for us to book separate rooms.

Review 103:The hotel had a really interesting design throughout. There is adinosaur egg in front of the hotel! The bathroom was excellent. Free Wi-fi was easy to access and didn't lag.

Review 104:The facilities, and the very friendly staff... Everyone is so helpful tous.. Our stay in your hotel made our first trip in osaka very easy andcomfortable..

Review 105:The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Strategically located very near the train station and nearby shops and restaurants. The rooms were very neat and spacious, good enough even for triple sharing. Will definitely recommend to other friends. Overall we had an excellent experience during our stay. :)

Review 106:At least $360 transportion fee a day before going to anywhere. ( only have Japan rail) (If wants to come back to hotel and go out again. The transportation fee will be more higher)

Review 107:Was way too far away from anything none USJ related. Hotel seemed unwilling to assist with transport to airport, unless it was the language barrier. Also for going to USJ, there was no discount for going to the park and in fact the plans available to go in were limited. The express passes were not shown.

Review 108:The rooms were very clean comfortable and spacious. The hotel itself was very nice

Review 109:Good location, not far from Kaykan, universal park, center of the city, very good breakfast with many different dishes, inc. dishes for children, comfortable room

Review 110:The buffet restaurant serve bad dinner.

Review 111:Friendly staff with lots of great help. Good location if you going to universal studio. 5 min walking distance.

Review 112:the only thing I didn't like were the pillows they were a bit to hard for me.

Review 113:It is in a perfect location you have the water and the park right outside your window and the deal I got for two rooms was too awesome to pass up.

Review 114:The bus service from Kansai Airport stops at the other side of Universal Studios and had to walk at least 20 mins dragging our luggage across the Universal Studios Japan

Review 115:hotel staff at the desks were very good, speak good English, gave clear and comprehensive advice when we asked.......

Review 116:The hotel's location is a bit far from the airport limousine bus stop. The hotel does not offer any bus shuttle from hotel to bus stop. If you have many luggages and young children to manage then it's location is not so ideal. Another thing I don't quite like is there is insufficient point to boil water and charge our phone. In the end we have to boil our water in the washing area. I asked for king size bed and they don't have. They only offered 2 double bed combined together. As a result our room is not park facing and my sons' room are located far from mine as they requested 2 single bed.

Review 117:As we paid a premium for this hotel, our expectations is higher. Overall, the hotel is decent.

Review 118:No ferry available for the Osaka Aquarium. And since we have a very tight schedule, we can no longer wait for the next day when the ferry is operational. The airport limo bus stop is approx, 10-15 minutes walk which is very inconvenient carrying our luggages.

Review 119:The staff are very courteous, helpful and kind. Even they cannot speak english fluently, they will assist you whatever you need for your stay. They don't accept tips for their service. The location is just a few minutes from Universal City Station and Universal Studios. My kids really enjoyed the accessibility of this hotel from USJ. The 2 rooms we booked are really neat and clean and a great view of USJ night and day.

Review 120:A bit far from the city but its not a major problem.

Review 121:The hotel is very clean, comfortable, conveniently located near a train station and Universal studios, and the concierge and staff were very helpful.

Review 122:room service menu selection was poor and quite restricted in terms of time.

Review 123:Walking distance to Universal studio makes it very easy if you have younger children that need brakes during the day. Very good Concierge services.

Review 124:n/a

Review 125:we like the amenities We like the very helpful of staffs. And very professional too. We like the location that very near to universal studio

Review 126:none....

Review 127:walking less than 10min to USJ. room was clean and enough big with my two daughters. my family loves it. airport bus to Kansai airport staffs were nice.

Review 128:One complain you might find is that where it is the best hotel in the area, it is not as convenient comparing to some hotels there.

Review 129:Simply the best of the rest located in Universal City.

Review 130:Convenient to get around by subway. Lots of restaurants around the area. For those who prefer the street food if Osaka may wish to stay closer toba ba area. Like that there is a direct train to airport. Airport shuttle from hotel is available as well. Room has all relevant amenities , well lit and spacious even for a standard room ( triple share). Concierge service was excellent!

Review 131:The pillows are not comfy. They have a variety of amenities including hair rubber but unfortunately no shower cap which is the basic item. I have short hair so the hair rubber did not help much.

Review 132:The hotel is only across the street from USJ, Universal Citywalk and Capt. Line Ferry to Kaiyukan Aquarium. Room is big enough for two. The hotel has souvenir shop inside and ticket counter for USJ and Kaiyukan. Toilet is modern when you enter, the toilet cover would automatically open.

Review 133:One negative thing about the hotel was not having a 24 hour housekeeping / room service especially if the client is checking in late due to late flight arrival.

Review 134:Excellent location from USJ, tickets for USJ are readily available, fast room clean up and to top it all, very courteous, helpful hotel staffs.
