Reviews for Residenza D'Epoca Locanda Di San Martino

Review 1:The elevator was almost unusable, reception was closed in the middle of the day while we had to take back our luggages.

Review 2:Close to the city centre and the overall price.

Review 3:Not very cheerful staff, on arrival told to be quick as she was very busy !!! Seemed to be under stress as only one person to clean the rooms, prepare breakfast etc. Car parking is a nightmare, use concierge service. Breakfast is very basic.

Review 4:Location was very good 200 meters from centre. Old charm of the hotel and rooms that matched the local environment. WIFI very good reception. Concierge parking for car very good 25 euros per day, as parking is really bad a long walk.

Review 5:WiFi not very stable and only a single account requiring login each time when connecting (only one device can be connected at any time)

Review 6:a very good location, close to city centre, but still a calm area; breakfast better than expected from B&B; large room with air-conditioning (very useful in hot summer), actually there was also a small living room; safe-deposit

Review 7:Minor points: - Breakfast might be improved. - My room was very close to the reception room, therefore a bit noisy. - It happened that nobody was at the reception when I needed them to ask a couple of questions. Apparently it was only a temporary shortage of staff.

Review 8:- Size and cleanliness of the room and of the bathroom. I had a junior suite on the ground floor for the same price as the standard room. - Courtesy of staff. - Location of the building. 5 min walking to Piazza del Campo.

Review 9:The free WiFi was for limited time

Review 10:The aesthetics of the place were high, the personnel helpful and the included breakfast very rich. The place was an historic building and they have kept its character. Also the room, 101, was really spacious and warm

Review 11:View of nothing but another wall of a building and noise from the street. WiFi knocks you off when you close your device so you have to add this endless password over and over. Bed was a rock. Breakfast was packaged stuff. Again, nice people but that's about it. And no, they don't meet you or help you from the bus or train.. so get a taxi or walk...

Review 12:Towels, plenty of them, which was nice. Um, that's about it. Not atypical of hotels advertised online is that you don't get what you think, but deal with it. Was it the worst place, no. Would it be memorable, no.

Review 13:The rooms need some refreshing, maybe an interior designer should have a look how to make best use of the old wallpaintings etc.

Review 14:Very central. comfortable, good breakfast. Staff are helpful and speak English, in Italy not always the case!

Review 15:The lift is too small for a lot of bags - what you would expect in such an old building

Review 16:View from the rooms The reception staff were very helpful and knowledgeable Local restaurants were fantastic the receptionist can offer some good recommendations Sienna during the build up to Il Palio is a wonderful experience. The drums start early in the morning so don't expect to sleep in.

Review 17:Impossibly hard to find, map & directions didn't work, we circled for half hour trying to find, room was ok but nothing like the pictures, breakfast staff person rude, but very reasonably priced for location, fine for our quick night stay but felt more like a hostel.

Review 18:Good location in center of walled city, moderately priced, fine for the one night we stayed there

Review 19:the room the noice from outside, terrible! bathroom very dark

Review 20:locatie

Review 21:Location Staff

Review 22:Rooms look dated and were overpriced

Review 23:Friendly and approachable staff

Review 24:Weird bathroom. Don't expect much help from the "front desk".

Review 25:Location was perfect

Review 26:Nothing

Review 27:Everything

Review 28:Tired decor Poor room facilities

Review 29:Close to the Campo

Review 30:Room very small so not much room to put things. If coming by train be aware it's a 10 euro taxi fair each way, or a long walk.

Review 31:Close enough to the main attractions. Breakfast ok.

Review 32:If you arrive by train, splurge and grab a cab. Less than 12 euros andwell worth it till you get the lay of the land.

Review 33:Great location just down from piazza de campo. Right in the heart ofeverything. Easy walking to all major sights. Rooms 401 and 402 havestunning views.

Review 34:Nothing - we enjoyed our stay.

Review 35:The receptionist was very helpful, printing off bus timetables, recommending restaurants and supplying us with a map of the local area. The location was great - not right next to the campo piazza but only a 5 minute walk away. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was a good standard.

Review 36:Breakfast was very good, but could include eggs and more fruits.

Review 37:The room was beautiful and spacious. Hotel is located at a quiet street, close to piazza de campo. I would like to stay there again.

Review 38:Nothing really. Driving and finding car parks is general issue but not related to accommodation.

Review 39:A great location close to the centre of town and easy walking everywhere. Got a great room on 4h floor ( stairs) with a wonderful view over Siena and country side. Breakfasts were good.

Review 40:Nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are spacious and have a very high ceiling like many buildings in Siena. Breakfast is a bit skimpy but here is a great coffee and you can make toast. Also there is free wi-fi. The hotel is totally worth the money

Review 41:Dead shrub at the entrance, tacky small pictures arranged every whichway...in the rooms and halls. Silly dying plants on the stair landings. The slowest tiny elevator ever...without any air vent.

Review 42:The female greeter was pleasant and happy to help me with severalthings. Easy 5 minute level walk to the huge center ringed with mediocrerestaurants, but Bar Louis made perfect margarita (I know....'Whilein Rome do as...'.but, tequila is the only upper alcoholicbeverage....ALL Others are downers. Quiet (safe area), breakfast is freeand minimum...white bread, canned fruit cocktail, ham, cheese. A realpot of English tea made me happy.

Review 43:We thought the décor was meant to be shabby-chic, but was more shabby than chic. Maybe some white paint needed to brighten up the rather dark interior.

Review 44:The staff were extremely helpful, so full marks for service!

Review 45:Not a thing, it was all wonderful.

Review 46:The hotel was beautiful and just a short 5 minute walk to the mainCampo, shopping, and restaurants. Our room was on the top floor butthere's a small elevator which makes getting heavy luggage upstairsmuch easier. Breakfast was great with lots of selections. Staff werevery helpful and assisted us in picking out and booking a wonderful fullday tour of the Chianti region. We were on our honeymoon and the hotelassigned us a very large room with a sitting area and also left us abottle of wine. We were very impressed. Cannot say enough great thingsabout this hotel - we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Review 47:Noisy footsteps above - the management must be aware of this so why not insulate the ceiling, there is plenty of room after all. Would like a kettle in the room - comment on all the hotels I stayed in, not just this one. Hairball in the corner stayed there for my entire visit, rest of room very clean so this is a shame.

Review 48:Good position as very close to the Campo (one of the world's most perfect spaces) and friendly welcome from staff. Quirky interior design - perhaps not to everyone's taste. Proper Tuscan view of terracotta roofs (this was a back room) and good to able to open window as room got quite warm in the afternoon sun (and this was January). Good bathroom, everything works. Liked keeping the door key and not having to go to reception. Breakfast ok and good espresso.

Review 49:No complaints at all about hotel.

Review 50:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was large and kept very clean during our stay. Continental Breakfast was fresh and good choice.

Review 51:The location was very near to the Centre, however located so that there was not a lot of noise at night. Our double room was upgraded free of charge to a Junior Suite. It was very good value for money. Nice breakfast and lovely Cappucino's in the morning!

Review 52:Breakfast could provide more choices.

Review 53:Location is great, walking distance to most sites. The room was spacious and clean. Bed was very comfortable. The staff was friendly.

Review 54:We had room 401 as requested from other's suggestions. It was on 4th floor and had fantastic view over Sienna and the Tuscan countryside. Plenty of space - large bedroom, separate lounge and good bathroom. It was a junior suite that cost extra but was worth it. Breakfast was good too. Staff were helpful and very knowledgeable.

Review 55:It is a perfect adjunct to that beautiful town of Siena - the hotel is user-friendly (with a slooow lift). Service throughout was excellent and friendly - all staff were truly helpful (everyone, including the domestic, spoke good English). It has Wi-Fi. The breakfast was well-presented and tasty, the croissants were fresh!! Unfortunately, if you travel into Siena by train (which we did), you need to take a taxi from the station - its too far to walk with baggage (about 2 kms, very steep and windy) if you are older.

Review 56:It's not a dislike, but anyone with a car should first explore how to handle their parking.

Review 57:Great location and very friendly/accomodating staff. Good continental breakfast. The location allows the guests to become a part of the city's fabric and explore it during all hours.

Review 58:Hotel is not manned 24hrs, which wouldnt matter except for the fact you couldnt get a coffee or tea between the hours of 10pm and 8am. This could have been fixed by supplying a kettle in the room, but there were none. The other hotels were there wasnt a kettle, there was always someone on duty. Small fault, but would have helped during the hours when your body clock hadnt adjusted and you were wide awake at 3am.

Review 59:The staff were, mostly, fantastic. Extremely helpful. Room was large and well appointed. It was a little less elegant than some of the others we stayed in but had enormous charm. Junior suite had a totally seperate sitting room which was fantastic. Breakfast choice was a little minimal but it was very tasty.

Review 60:This is a great hotel in a beautiful city. The location is fantastic forexploring Siena, there are lovely restaurants close by and it's on aquiet street. There is a lift if you need one, which is fairly unusualin these old, tall Italian hotels. Staff were really friendly too. Wespent a couple of days here as part of our honeymoon and we literallycould not rate Siena highly enough - one of the most beautiful citieswe've ever been to.

Review 61:The rooms were very shabby but clean. The bed was extremely hard. It was a junior suite because it had a sitting room but it had a couch covered in out-dated fabric and the actual bedroom was so small the the armoire had to be put in the sitting room. The walls were ugly with dry brush painting. It could be a very nice accommodation with some redecorating and better beds!

Review 62:The location was good and it was quiet.

Review 63:Building work obstructs view from rooms at the back. Doors are thin, noise inside does travel but people were generally considerate of this.

Review 64:Lovely place, medieval building, quiet and close to Piazza del Campo andshops. Helpful staff and very comfortable rooms. I would stay again.

Review 65:Adding hard-boiled eggs and whole wheat bread to the breakfast choiceswould be good.

Review 66:The woman who worked the afternoon / evening shift was extremely helpfulto me and the other people with whom we were traveling.

Review 67:The rooms at the front are a little noisy as the street is just below soask for a room at the back.

Review 68:Friendly staff and great location. The rooms were airy and spacious andin keeping with an Italian theme. Not too far from car parking so easyall round.

Review 69:This accommodation is completely lacking in charm. It is poorlyfurnished and decorated, the staff I encountered were not friendly orhelpful, the room lacked sound proofing between floors, so everyfootfall and crying baby could be heard from the floor above. It is wayoverprice for what it offers.

Review 70:In my opinion, there are only three good things about this overpricedaccommodation, it has a lift, the hot water in the shower is plentifuland the Wifi works well and is free.

Review 71:The rooms were a bit too hot for me but nothing that could not be solvedby opening the windows. It was a very cold February outside so itprobably felt hotter than what it was.

Review 72:It was a friendly place with helpful staff. The walk to the main squaretook five minutes. Rooms were quiet, clean and comfortable and very warmfor the very cold week we were experiencing. Five days was probablylonger than we needed to stay but relaxing in the living room after amornings walk was good for our needs.

Review 73:Excellent little hotel with fantastic service. A big thank you toVanessa, Roberto and Elena who made my stay wonderful and were very kindlistening to my horrendous italian!! It is clean, comfortable and closeto everything and exceptionally warm- whihc considering it was snowingand minus 3 degrees was wonderful. Many thanks and I will return!!

Review 74:Housekeeping wasn't 100% - the coffee table wasn't cleaned in the threedays we were there, nor was the bar fridge replenished (and there was anopen can of beer in the fridge when we arrived. There was no indicationin the bathroom about what to do with towels which needed washing. Butthese were only small things.

Review 75:The staff at reception were welcoming and helpful (and speak English). We had a lovely 'junior suite' on the third floor, with a separatesitting room and pleasant views over the rooftops of Siena. There was alift (albeit very small) which was good for people with luggage. Thelocation was good, about 200 m from the Campo and close to some goodlocal restaurants.

Review 76:Nice location and very nice view

Review 77:Everything was perfect from the room all the way to the staff. Great experience would stay again!

Review 78:poor internet access

Review 79:the location

Review 80:Vanessa is friendly and very hospitable; she made our second stay there feel like home.

Review 81:Parkin is very far from hotel. Staff on reception looks tired and unhappy to meet the guests.

Review 82:Location is perfect

Review 83:Good location, comfortable room and a great breakfast

Review 84:Luke warm to cold water even after request TV didn't work

Review 85:Spacious Good location

Review 86:The more than usually rudimentary Italian breakfast.

Review 87:A good location near the centre of the wonderful city of Siena, and good value for money.

Review 88:The independence. Guests are allowed to retain their key and to let themselves in and out without having to to go reception.

Review 89:rooms, value for money

Review 90:location

Review 91:Location, staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 92:The staff was most helpful and the location perfect ! The Junior suite was very comfortable and we had plenty of room.

Review 93:Great location.

Review 94:Lack of parking but that is a city problem.

Review 95:Friendly

Review 96:Friendly staff. Close to the Campo. Great views from our windows of bothSiena and valleys of Tuscany(3rd floor).

Review 97:Good location for a one night stay especially as we booked last minuteand got a very reduced price. We were also upgraded to a junior suite.

Review 98:The welcome and assistance with the free wifi left much to be desiredbut was made up for with the extra space in the room!
