Reviews for Hotel Minerva

Review 1:Overpriced considering the old facilities which cause lack of comfort. Staff was calling us to check out, as we were preparing, even though just 20m pass after check out time,

Review 2:Very close to the city center! Very nice view of the city from the balcony. New Lcd tv although the rest of the room has a old style.

Review 3:Of all things, we liked the staff and staff responsiveness to our questions the best. They were the only ones who responded to our questions to internet quality (it was excellent) of several hotels we queried, and all of them very friendly, efficient and forthcoming. We'd also like to note that this is the first hotel in a long line of stays that offered enough pillows without being asked.

Review 4:Wonderful view over the city from our enormous balcony. Close to the center. Breakfast was included and ok but could have had a bit more to choose from

Review 5:The room design was a little weird, not very personal.

Review 6:Clean and both the bathroom and room itself was good size. Fair location, walking distance to center and a small nice pub on the opposite side of the road. The view from the parking space was really nice (go there even if you don't use it ;) )

Review 7:staff was rude and lied when we rang on the phone regarding availability for a booking. The room was musty and old. Bad attitude from the night staff defiantly not worth the star rating

Review 8:the breakfast was good

Review 9:nothing

Review 10:We arrived with a car. it was wonderful that they had secure parking, which was locked up at night, the location was great as it was easy to get to and had parking and walking distance of the city center. The breakfast was fabullous too.

Review 11:Room not veey clean and with a bad smell all the time

Review 12:Hotel is old and common areas have a carpet and walls that look quite old and lack a better cleaning. The room is ok in size but the bathroom has a permanent bad Smell. Staff ok but no effort tomeke you feel at home. Quite limited English speaking.

Review 13:The administration staff. We were treated with contempt the whole stay. We were not spoken to by staff at check in and they were very rude, borderline aggressive when we asked questions. Everything seemed to hard for them.

Review 14:Hotel Minerva had a good breakfast each morning.

Review 15:Good location. A short 10 euro cab ride from the train station with luggage. Easy 10 min walk from hotel into the city center. Lovely view of the city from our room, which had a huge terrace. We stayed in Siena for three nights and rented a car to drive around Tuscany for one of the days. Very easy to walk to the Avis rental car business from hotel. If you have a car to park, you can park in their garage for 12 euro/night.

Review 16:The staff looked like they did not want to work, had little to no manners. Our toilet tank was leaking (so we would get cold drops of water running down our back each time!), and our friends found numerous hairs in their bathroom. We ended up cancelling our second night and went elsewhere...

Review 17:The location of the hotel was great, as it is outside of the historical center, but close enough to get there quickly.

Review 18:Too thin walls (you can hear every noise in the corridor and in other rooms at all times) Breakfast to be improved (rotten fruits in the basket, all tables to be cleaned as there was just one person for a quite big room, ...) Definitely expensive for the service received according to my opinion

Review 19:optimal location to visit the city center without having difficulties to park the car

Review 20:The fantastic view from the bedroom !! Fabulous ! you need to be looking out the back of the hotel.. We were lucky enough to be given a patio/ balcony as well.

Review 21:all the installations are a bit old but the good thing is that all is clean.

Review 22:the hotel is very well located near all the main highlight of the city. The breakfast is nice and it has parking, which is very convenient given the situation in Siena

Review 23:Located between the railway station and the old town. About 10 minutes on foot to the old town. A tasty breakfast. Great views of the town. A big and comfortable room.

Review 24:Room was not ready when we checked in at 2pm. When room was ready, elevator was broken so had to carry out luggage out three flights but staff did not offer to help.

Review 25:Room was clean and all necessary amenities. Also child location.

Review 26:Excellent value for money hotel at a perfect location - in 10-15 min you can reach the old city with all landmarks and places worth seeing. The hotel has its private covered garage, although at an extra cost of 12 euro, which is very convenient for those who come by car. Staff is friendly and speaks English.

Review 27:Breakfast not bad but as usual terrible orange juice! No BBC or English news on the digital channels

Review 28:Nice room and good view of Sienna from the window.

Review 29:The room furniture was old and not like the pictures. The floor was dirty and we saw ants on the bed. We asked to see another room and it was the same.

Review 30:The breakfast was good and the hotel is close to the city center. Parking was also great.

Review 31:We were checked into the Hotel by a very accommodating gentleman. He offered to make us coffee late one evening. I could not recommend this Hotel enough for a stay in Siena.

Review 32:The main reason we booked this hotel, was the balcony with the spectacular view, but instead we had a medium sized room with nowhere to sit but on the beds, a bathroom that needs updating and a window that offered us the view of a wall! Another drowback was that the wi-fi worked only near the reception..

Review 33:The location of the hotel is a benefit. Also the breakfast was efficient with a bar that provided fresh coffee by order.

Review 34:wifi didn't work in the room itself, only at the loby and breakfast room, and the staff didn't know hoe to help to fix it...

Review 35:really nice staff, helpfull with maps and places to go

Review 36:Just one minor complaint - WiFi did not operate inside the room. Had to visit the foyer to get reliable internet service.

Review 37:Great outlook across the old town from the room and its balcony. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Room was compact but comfortable with good en suite bathroom facilities

Review 38:Our room wasn't ready, and when we came back they had given our room to someone else, so we had to wait even longer. The shower had a slow drain so it almost overflowed as the shower was used.

Review 39:The room we eventually got had a nice patio with an umbrella, table and chairs and a nice view of Siena. The breakfast buffet and barista were great. Easy to get to a bus stop, walk to the city center.

Review 40:Cappuccino I ordered never made it to the breakfast table.

Review 41:The hotel is located quite close (10 minutes walk) from the Campo. The room was basic but clean. Airconditioning worked well. wifi was fast

Review 42:The room was beautiful and comfortable. The location was good...a bit of a walk to the town centre but nothing extreme. Staff were incredibly accommodating when we decided at the last minute to stay an extra two nights.

Review 43:Pungent odor in the bathroom that smelled like a dead mouse. Made the mistake of turning off the AC before leaving the room and came back to a strong smell. Wasn't so bad after leaving the air on a low temperature.

Review 44:The room fit 4 people. Was close to the center of town.

Review 45:Breakfast was basic, low quality food and the staff were not really in control.

Review 46:Our room was spacious, clean although unfortunately one of the older ones. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast wasn't great. Typical Italian continental, although rather basic and low quality food. The staff at breakfast seems rather disorganized and not very experienced. We dealt with 3 reception people who were professional, although one of them was quite grumpy. We stayed for one night and that was fine, I would not stay for more then 3 days.

Review 47:Buffet breakfasts were excellent, with extensive variety and barista-made cappuccinos/espresso, etc., all included with room rate. - convenient location from which to walk to sites.

Review 48:Lack of tea / coffee making facilities in the room. Bathroom decor / suite a little 'tired'. Breakfast room a little squashed when busy - need to choose your time.

Review 49:Lovely views looking over Seina (room 210) Extra large terrace (room 210) Very helpful reception staff. Lovely fresh fruit with breakfast.

Review 50:The lift us tiny and the carpet in it needs replacing as it is very dirty. It is approximately a walk of 1.1 ks. to Piazza il Campo but a lot of the way is via shady shopping streets.

Review 51:The parking is superb, and we were allocated a very large room with a view of the city. The breakfast was good - staff a bit off hand but ok. This is a well worn hotel but with all facilities. Our room had 2 air conditioners but it was a very hot time (32 C) and they were only cool rather than cold but nevertheless we were comfortable. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it as good value and location for Siena.

Review 52:THe hotel is not really within walking distance from the railway station, and the information along the way is not accurate.

Review 53:THe hotel is within walking distance from SIenas main attractions

Review 54:We expected more of this hotel. We booked a superior room and expected a spacious, fresh room as stated on the website. The room we received was on the ground floor (-1) in a small corner, old style, quite small, dark and a bit smelly. We had a small terrace. Breakfast was quite simple too. Wifi ok, causing problems from time to time. All in all we find this hotel to be OK, you can definately stay here, just don't expect anything extra if you receive an old room as we did.

Review 55:Perfect location, easy to find from the railway station and between new and old Siena, allowing guests to enjoy both parts of the town. This hotel is a larger one, providing front desk services 24/7. There is beautiful art shown in the common spaces that you can buy, very nice. We had a nice view from our garden and a minibar.

Review 56:All OK. not super.

Review 57:Our room was very small but we had a balcony that overlooked Siena. That made up for the lack of space. Breakfast OK, Distance to the main attractions, OK. Staff OK.

Review 58:The wifi was not with good coverage in our room, but we were at the end of the corridor.

Review 59:Behind the moderate exterior, the hotel provides a clean and very pleasant look & feel. The staff was always very friendly and helpful, we got a lot of good advices and luggage storage service. The room was clean and even if was not very recently renovated, this didn't bring any discomfort due to the care and cleanliness. The breakfast was not exceptional in quality, but nothing was missing from the regular menu for 2 stars hotel.

Review 60:The hotel is quite impersonal, but we were not there to enjoy the hotel itself-- there's so much to see and to do in Sienna, and the location was perfect.

Review 61:Very quiet hotel despite its location close to one of Sienna's gates, to a hospital, and to several bus stops. The garage was very handy and safe, and not too expensive compared with similarly situated hotels in Italy.

Review 62:Minerva hotel is 50m from the Zone Tourist Limit. Shame we weren't told about it when we attempted to visit the cathedral. NO signage. We were fined on the spot ! Apparently the hotels tell their clients. Not us!

Review 63:Breakfast was great.

Review 64:€12 parking costs. Also the hotel is quitte old and a bit worn. There was a dried up blood stain on the clean bed linen.

Review 65:Easy to reach by car but an easy walk to the center. Comfy bed.

Review 66:It was cramped with 4 people in their standard 4 person room. It was just a Queen bed with 2 pull out chair beds.

Review 67:The worker's English was good enough to get us around. It was in a great location.

Review 68:Would have liked more pillows, plus wifi didn't work in the room - no signal.

Review 69:Excellent parking facilities and very close to local sites. Everything in walking distance! We had a wonderful view from our room up into Siena.

Review 70:Convenient garage space, quick walk to the city center, great breakfast, and a great cafe across the street if you miss breakfast. Very good and spacious shower cabin - US standards, not your typical Italian tiny shower :) Couldn't ask for a better night stay.

Review 71:For the rate we bought it - good value for money. Excellent location to discover Siena. Tarrace with great view over the old city. Fine breakfast. Parking is available for the hotel guests at 12eur rate but we have managed find a free space nearby the hotel (there is a lot of space along the city wall).

Review 72:Nothing.

Review 73:The location was very good, just 3 buss stops away from train station and close to the historical places. Room was very clean, stuff was very kind. Breakfast was very good and tasty. I enjoyed my staying there and would recomment everyone to go there.

Review 74:The front desk staff were ok, but lacked to tell us what time breakfast and checkout was or offer a map of the area until asked. Available breakfast was cereal, cold cuts and bread/ pastries. I think it would benefit from some warm scrambled eggs/ sausages/ pulses.

Review 75:Our room was clean and tidy, with a lovely view over the rooftops.

Review 76:This was my second stay here, great views from some of the rooms with terraces. Really friendly staff, happy to help. Nice room and facilities. Good breakfast.

Review 77:Wifi connection in room intermittent. Better reception in lobby. Staff were not ver engaging upon arrival and we had to ask for the wifi password rather than being provided. After this staff were helpful.

Review 78:Good location and breakfast. Room kept tidy and cleaned daily. Staff helpful with booking of tours and other information. Easy working distance to centre of city.

Review 79:The room was smaller than I had read in a review. Though the bathroom had been renovated, the rest of the room was worn and tierd. It would have been nice if the blood from squashed mossies had been cleaned off the wall. Balcony was small and place just felt unfriendly. Staff not very helpful with directions or where to catch a bus out of town. Moved to an alternative apartment which was a nicer option.

Review 80:The location close to the bus stop was great. Close to shopping and taxi rank.

Review 81:The hotel parking is expensive. The parking lot near the hotel has very few places (10~) - if you arrive by car you should consider that you might have to pay for parking.

Review 82:In some rooms, great view of the city. Proximity to town center (10 minutes walk)

Review 83:Marble floors. Bit noisy from neighbours. Thin walls! Initial staff not welcoming at all. Not informed bout safe in room. Breakfast or nearby sights until we asked. Staff not very interested really.

Review 84:Location. Price. Sat nav found ok parking good. Near to all the historic parts.

Review 85:The adjacent neighborhood was having their yearly festival and music with DJ was loud Friday and Saturday nights.

Review 86:We upgraded to a superior double room and had a great view of the city center. Breakfast was very good with fairly typical food for Italy.

Review 87:Staff wasn't very helpful, we had to ask about everything Breakfast was messy (sometimes they lacked food at the end, we had to wait for the table etc.) Loud AC

Review 88:Big balcony with a nice view (we booked just a simple double room) Nice bathroom

Review 89:Not very welcoming on arrival. Not enough staff on at breakfast to ensure food is kept replenished at peak times. Room appeared 'run down' when compared to standards in other similar hotels. We have been to this Hotel many times over the years and been delighted this time the overall standard did not seem quite so high.

Review 90:Great location, secure parking, comfortable and quiet room. Bright and clean. Helpful staff. Very good daily servicing of room. Breakfast good on mornings when demand did not overwhelm staff capacity. Familiar to us.

Review 91:A bit of an uphill walk into the city, but you soon get used to it.

Review 92:Very good, clean, mid-price hotel. Lovely view over Siena from the balcony (with stunning sunset thrown in for free). Who wouldn't want to be a painter in this beautiful city?

Review 93:We stayed one night at the Minerva, it is a lovely hotel close tocentre, beautiful views of the city from our balconies. Staff friendlyand helpful. On site parking for only 12,euros a day. Breakfast was verygood. The rooms were a good size and bathroom/shower very good. Iwould definitely return.

Review 94:First drawback: very slow wifi connection. Second drawback is the room that the walls are very thin and every noise / sound can be heard. 3rd drawback is the breakfast: the place is overburdened if there are lot of guest, the trays are empty, there is hot haste.

Review 95:Good value for money. It is close to downtown. Lots of good restaurants nearby. Our room was very nice (superior) with a large terrace. Every day, replaced the towel. The front desk is always very helpful. I asked for a private car park, first day there was no place in the hotel but I've got a nearby paid parking place (for free), the next day is already provided in the hotel.

Review 96:-wi-fi did not work in our room, but was very good in the lobby -we had a room for four people and we got one normal double bed and two little sofa beds which were very unconfortable (I got some really bad looks from my mother in law who had to sleep in one of them)

Review 97:-The view -10 min. walk to the center -breakfast -parking

Review 98:The WiFi is unstable. You cannot use power plugs other than europlugs, thicker plugs will not fit in.

Review 99:Room with terrace, excellent view of the city, Nice breakfast, airco, clean bathroom.

Review 100:Location, nice and quiet but only a few minutes walk from town centre. Lovely spacious, clean room and bathroom. Free wifi (worked better in reception than room).

Review 101:The room was not thoroughly cleaned each day. the air conditioning was not very effective. The window blinds had to be opened and closed manually which was very noisy - not only ours but also other guests.

Review 102:The room was excellent with a terrace and wonderful views of the old city. The walk up to the town each morning was a bit of a drag some days but we got used to it. The hotel was located quite close to the bus station and only a 10 minute walk to the piazza. The restaurant opposite the hotel offered a discount for hotel guests and the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. The underground parking was a bonus.

Review 103:It's an old building retrofitted with cheap furniture. No TV in english.

Review 104:Ask for a room with a balcony, you'll get the best view of Siena. Breakfast is OK and the reception team are always ready to help.

Review 105:nothing went wrong.

Review 106:The location was very good, in the centre of Siena, the bedroom was pretty big, clean, comfortable bed, modern airco, worked very well in the heat, we had also a balcony with a lovely view of Siena' s medieval centre. I' m happy overall.

Review 107:no problems

Review 108:Room with terrace; buffet breakfast; away from very loud rock concerts in the town centre (Il Campo) at night until 1.45am ; 10 minutes to train station; 10 minutes to Il Campo. Plenty of good restaurants nearby.

Review 109:We had smokers on the balcony next door and had to shut everything up at night to avoid a smoke filled room. Some of the staff were moody and not particularly welcoming.

Review 110:The location was within easy walking distance of the train and the old city. Our room had a balcony with nice views overlooking the old city where we could sit and enjoy a glass of chianti the room was comfortable and breakfast was good.

Review 111:Area was hard to find and well expensive for being off the beaten track. Also WiFi would have helped

Review 112:Clean, and more than expected. Wish we had stayed a second night

Review 113:TERRIBLE service. The staff was rude and unhelpful , will not stay there again!

Review 114:Good location for city center, very clean room with balcony facing the old city. lovely breakfast.

Review 115:Hotel parking costs 12€ per day.

Review 116:Good location 5 mins walk from the old town. Helpful staff, excellent breakfast buffet.

Review 117:there isn't heating system in the bath room. one of the lights was not working. wifi is very slow.

Review 118:at the breakfast, you can find boiled eggs!

Review 119:location, view

Review 120:The view from balcony

Review 121:not enough heat at night, end up wearing coats to sleep.

Review 122:Close to centre location. Budget price.

Review 123:Wifi connection in the room was inconsistent and hard to mainrain.

Review 124:The air conditioner didn't work

Review 125:Perfect and comfy place

Review 126:Paper thin walls, very noisy, unfriendly staff

Review 127:Good location

Review 128:Poor car parking arrangements

Review 129:The view from huge balcony was fantastic.

Review 130:Location is good
