Reviews for Gyeongju Guesthouse
Review 1:Nothing
Review 2:The owners are really friendly and helped us a lot. We met good friends in the guesthouse and Gyeongju is a really great city ! Thank you so much !!
Review 3:They didn't provide us with toiletries. Although, it might have been the case because I didn't ask whether or not they had them else where.
Review 4:I liked how the staff was helpful. I had enough knowledge of the Korean language to appropriately communicate with them and they were very kind. You are able to use the kitchen all throughout the day, not just during breakfast hours.
Review 5:I had a difficult time communicating with staff members (I wasn't sure whether to use Korean or English, but we eventually got things figured out after some awkwardness). The hostel's price was OK, although not great.
Review 6:The hostel is located in a convenient area, just a few blocks from Gyeongju train station and also close to some of the burial tombs. Although I couldn't check in until mid-afternoon, the hostel allowed me to use a locker to store my belongings, which was nice.
Review 7:We stayed here for 1 night and the facilities are value for money. The staff are really helpful though with limited english but they help us in anyway they can.Free flow or eggs, bread, and cheese throughout the day are really helpful for us who have difficulties in finding halal food around the area. It is also near to all main gyeongju attractions.
Review 8:No issues. However, the floors are divided by gender. Male and female floors are separate. The internet connection is slow, but works. Consider this when booking and don't complain about it later. Some people complain about lack of amenitites. It's low cost for a reason. It's a good ways from the west express train station but so is everything else. <--- It's around 20,000 KRW to take a cab one way to or from this western ShinGyeongju station to the GJ Guesthouse.
Review 9:Cost is low. Comfort is good for the money. Breakfast area and kitchen open day and night. Location is good and near in town train station. Very hospitable environment. Will definitely book here again if I travel to Gyeonju for an overnight stay.
Review 10:The staff didn't really speak much English. The hostel is closed at midnight. Breakfast wasn't anything special (standard: toasts, jam, eggs).
Review 11:Great location, spacious common area, accesss to some food all the time. Big lockers, comfortable beds, very positive! Many Korean people.
Review 12:Bed was very uncomfortable.
Review 13:Very close to train station and central Gyeonju, triple room and ensuite spacious with good shower. Breakfast provided and plenty of food available. Free wifi.
Review 14:Excellent service all around. It is pretty basic and the rooms are bunk beds. There is an open kitchen and snacks available throughout the day. There are four bunks to a room. The male and female floors are separate. Therefore it is not a couples place but certainly a great place to stay if you are passing through and superbly economical considering the region and the high end, high cost hotels. My mom turned 70 just days after staying here and she raved about how wonderful it was. And I was concerned going in that it would be a bit too spartan for her. It's an all around positive place and the owner is Awesome! Highly recommended.
Review 15:took some time to get there because i arrived at the new train station. the dormitory rooms (4 people) are really small.
Review 16:the location is great! really close to sightseeing attractions and train station. there are free lockers for storage after checkout.
Review 17:We were two people travelling and stayed for 2 nights. However, the staff told us that one of us has to switch to another room for the second day in order to fill up the other dormitory rooms. When I asked her why we have to be the one to switch rooms and not other people, she only shooked her head and said that there's nothing she can do about it. So we agreed that one person of us will move to the other room. On the next morning, we had to leave early for our sightseeing tour - however the other room has not been prepared yet because the previous people have not checked out by that time. As a result, I decided to store my luggage in the locker of my previous room as the other one was still occupied. But when I came back in the evening, the lady from the counter got mad at me and complained why I didn't remove my staff from the previous room. When I explained to her that it was their mistake because the other room has not been ready yet, she complained to me that I should have stored my lugguage in another locker outside in the corridors. When I asked her why she couldn't have told me this the other day before if it was such a big problem for them that I stored my luggage inside the room, she only replied to me that it was because I didn't ask!
Review 18:The hostel is located only a few minutes away from Gyeongju Station and the Express Bus Terminal can also be reached in a 25min walk. Opposite of the hostel, you will find the bus stop where the buses to the major attractions will pass by which is very convenient. Rooms were clean and this hostel seemed to be popular among young Koreans for travelling as well.
Review 19:Staff are friendly and helpful with tips around gyeongju and breakfast was great. Location is good with bus stops nearby and 5 minutes taxi costs around 3000won from bus terminal. Stay there for two nights and will definitely back again.
Review 20:i didn't expect i need to pay for linen and shampoos! i didn't bring them along as i found out the few places i stayed before provided all these, so i thought all standard BnB will have that too. it's not a big money though, i just don't like it when there are extra charges on small stuff. also there isn't free map to take, you can ask for direction and travel spot by looking at the map in guesthouse.
Review 21:location is good, stuff can speak well english. food (egg, bread, coffee, jam.... etc for breakfast) are available all day, you can eat it whenever you want
Review 22:The front desk couldn't speak English and the lady was not vert friendly. The guy was slightly better.
Review 23:It is a min walk fm gyeongju station and also walking distance to some attractions. comfortable room space and clean. Food available 24hours!!
Review 24:No locks around the hostel was surprising.
Review 25:Quiet on the thursday but the friday was busier. The Manager gave a W10,000 Free alcohol offer. The hostel is easy to find too, near the mounds, BUS STATION and shopping streets.
Review 26:It's in 3rd floor and there is no lift. Have to carry heavy baggage using the staircase.
Review 27:Friendly and helpful staff. Good in English. Good in giving direction and suggestion of the best place to visit.
Review 28:The staff were so helpful and kind. They made me feel really welcome. The owner helped me when I made a mistake with my booking and the staff went out of their way to help me. There was also a really friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Really a great place to stay.I'd really recommend this guesthouse to any visitor.
Review 29:It was coveniently close to the train station, meaning transport was good. There were eggs, bread and pretzels available 24hrs and a spacious communal area inside and out. BBQs were available to rent and the staff were INCREDIBLY welcoming and friendly. They socialised with us in the evenings and gifted us drinks and food. Maybe this was because is was Chuseok but we were made to feel very welcome and had a lovely time.
Review 30:The rooms were a bit to small and the staff (with the exception of one person who frequently disappears) doesn't speak English.
Review 31:The best thing about this guesthouse is free food - you can get bread, jam and eggs for free any time you want. Laundry facilities are also free and fairly big lockers are available in the rooms. The common room is nice.
Review 32:Although they have washing machines for free, there were no dryers and my clothes ended up molding and had to be washed when I moved on to the next city I was visiting.
Review 33:The location was perfect. I was able to see about 7 sites my first day. Buses aren't located too far, but you do have to do a little bit of walking. You can have coffee, tea, and or pretzels whenever you like. The owner was generous, and I was even able to have eggs and toast free at night too. They have a dog, but he stays outside in his kennel. The bathroom is shared but private, which is nice for those who are squeamish around communal bathrooms, which are more common in Korea. Gyeongju is such a nice city, and this hostel really helped me to enjoy my stay in Gyeongju. The wifi is spotty if you are using it in your bedroom, but the main guest area has a perfect signal. Overall I liked this place a lot. Free washing machines.
Review 34:Not so clean
Review 35:Close to the train station. Nice lounge area to meet people. Good breakfast and you can use kitchen all day.
Review 36:VERY NICE PLACE SO CLOSE TO TRAIN STATION I HAD A VERY GOOD WELCOMING FROM SPECIALLY FROM MANAGER S WIFE
Review 37:Clean and nice!!! Also it has good location!!!
Review 38:I have a sharing room and one of them snores very loudly at night...
Review 39:The internet connection is very slow.
Review 40:Not far from the train station, this hostel has a spacious communal area. You can also rent with old cheap bike.
Review 41:Nothing.
Review 42:The kitchen with free food. Clean. Central location.
