Reviews for Taizanso
Review 1:The music that they played during the meals was very morose and depressing. Some jazz would have been more appropriate. It would have been nice to have a private onsen available.
Review 2:It was so clean! The onsen was small but relaxing. Perfect "marriage" of traditional Japanese with modern, chic updates. Very classy. Food was delicious.
Review 3:Lovely place in a quaint picturesque part of Japan. Staff were amazing and went above and beyond despite lack of English, google translate is the best! We wanted a traditional ryokan experience as Japan newbies and this was perfect. Bathing area excellent but we were lucky enough for to be there at a quiet time so I had it to myself. If only the weather had been a bit cooler to fully enjoy the beautiful outdoor pool. Our stay included half board and we were literally stuffed the whole time we were there with no need to eat between breakfast and lunch. Be warned though that the food is very traditional and if you can't stomach fish for breakfast then not for you and perhaps only pay for room and not food...
Review 4:The staff was wonderful: attentive, discrete and caring. The food (supper and breakfast) was excellent and served in a private dining room. The building successfully combines modern design with ancient components of a traditional Ryokan. Communication was very easy. A few staff members spoke english very well and those who did not, made very intelligent use of modern translation technology using phone or tablet. The onsen is very clean and comfortable. The town of Shuzenji is lovely and has a few very nice walks to offer. The whole atmosphere was very peaceful. I highly recommend Taizanso.
Review 5:The onsen, though also quite good, is small and not the ideal size for sharing. If you visit during high season, you might have to plan your bath schedule to avoid crowding with the others.
Review 6:The dinner and breakfast we booked with the package was really a surprise, which surpass our ordinary expectation quite a lot. The chief chef turns out to be an award winning master, no doubt it ended up being the highlight of our stay.
Review 7:My husband and I stayed here for our 2nd wedding anniversary and it was perfect. The staff was attentive, warm and welcoming and ready to help us with anything at all. The room was truly stunning - huge, beautiful and well-appointed. Meals (in a private dining room) were all similarly beautiful. They even gave us an anniversary gift. You could walk in there with nothing at all and you wouldn't have to worry because every amenity is provided for you. Taizanso is without flaw and we didn't want to leave.
Review 8:Very minor issue was the 15+ minute wait for a taxi to the station on leaving. Luckily it was a short trip and we caught our intended train.
Review 9:Very polite service; great staff. Even though their English ability was basic, they made an attempt to communicate and seemed very welcoming to foreigners.
Review 10:My only regret is I did not stay longer...
Review 11:Nothing to complaint for our stay at Taizanso. Super love it! Great stay, delicious meals, wonderful hot spring! Love the hot spring as it is quiet and not crowded. Super location, a very nice town that gave us a wonderful relax stay. Walked around the small town n you will meet nice people, nice free foot-hot-spring. Beautiful walk path, really love it. It is a great place for young / old couples. We were there together with parents and they love it too. The best stay while we travel Tokyo-Osaka-Shuzenji-Tokyo. Worth to try the half board package, it was really nice. They served the best Cawanmushi I ever tried (4 of us all agreed that). My only regret is stay for only one night! I miss the wonderful trip at Shuzenji-Taizanso.
Review 12:The wifi was only available in the lobby area. Also the location was on the street and there was no garden. This surprised me at first, but once in the hotel, it didn't matter that much anymore.
Review 13:We felt pampered in comfort and luxury. Though the staff spoke very limited English, they looked after our every need almost instinctively. They were wonderful and served us impeccably & cheerfully. Our accommodation was roomy, very comfortable and equipped with everything we could possibly meal. We could wander around in the yukatas provided. The meals were a gastronomic delight- our compliments to the Chef, not just for his culinary skills but the fine presentation too. The outdoor onset was a delight and i enjoyed the many relaxing soaks i had. Also spent a lot of time on the massage chair which was fun. Just take your kindle & i pod and get set to chill out :-)
Review 14:We didn't book our dinner in advance and when we decided to do so, we were told that they couldn't accommodate us (it was a busy weekend). Be sure to ask for non-smoking in advance.
Review 15:The staff was welcoming and did their best to make us feel at home. The onsen experiences was lovely- beautiful outdoor and indoor baths. Located on a quiet back street near to the river and main town square.
Review 16:The wifi is quite weak in the room.
Review 17:Beautiful Ryokan! Nice and friendly staff, wonderful service. Nice facilities, we even had a soaking tub in our bathroom! Outdoor onsen a little small, but for 1 person or 2 is just okay. Food was delicious and quite innovative. Felt really pampered staying there. A little pricey for the western style room compared to the futon room, but I guess you get what you paid for. We got a big room with a living area that they will spread futon if it's a party of 4.
Review 18:It was two floor room, the bed upstairs and toilet in the first, with dangerous stairs
Review 19:The staff was very friendly although their English was rather poor, very clean, nice entrance, authentic dinner with Japanize seating. Lovely village for one hour tour
Review 20:Nothing
Review 21:If you have the chance to visit the Izu peninsula, you will do yourself a favour by staying at Taizanso. The staff was really nice, awesome onsen, and the dinner there was great!
Review 22:Everything was fine!
Review 23:The hotel is small but is sparkling clean and cozy. The staff are very friendly and helpful! The ambience of the room is good and the beds are very comfortable. The food they served was absolutely delicious!
Review 24:All staff was very kind and took time to explain all details of behavoir even it was in Japanese. Food was really extraordinary and worth every yen. We enjoyed the nice onsen, which was vey relaxing after a cold day on the motorbike. We appreciated our stay very much and can fully recommend this wonderful ryokan.
Review 25:Futon mattresses promptly packed away before breakfast and only brought out again after dinner, leaving just the tatami or low chairs to sit on during the day.
Review 26:Great location in Shuzenji, wonderful polite and warm staff, relaxing indoor and outdoor onsen, delicious food.
Review 27:They have only one staff could speak English. I wrote mail to reserve dinner but no reply so I had to find restaurant by accident.
Review 28:The hotel is clean and warm, room is comfortable. Staffs deliver high appreciated service.
Review 29:Excellent ryokan conveniently located a short walk from the nearby bus stop. The staff are as much a delight as the amazing meals, and a bath in the pretty onsen perfectly rounds off your stay. 100% recommended !
Review 30:Taizanso is a perfect traditional ryokan experience at the right price. The meals (Breakfast and dinner)were wonderful very traditional Japanese and the onset has both inside and outside baths and is open 24hours. They also have free coffee and tea in lobby.
Review 31:From start to finish, this was one of the best experiences I had in my 3 weeks in Japan. The hotel staff is extremely helpful, the ryokan is gorgeous, and the dinner and breakfast were amazing. The rooms are beautiful. We enjoyed the public baths in the hotel and booked a pre-dinner massage. This was my best night of sleep in Japan, I felt so incredibly rested the next day.
Review 32:Early check out 10am- we had to leave the room
Review 33:Beautiful magical place wirh excelent service My best dinner during the whole stay: around 10 dishes ( in private cabines) Small but very clean Onsen: outside and inside bath, separated by gender. Very nice small village to spend a day - relatively easy to find from the train, bus stops 200m from the hotel, just 10 mins ride.
Review 34:Everything I expected and much, much more!! The owners and staff were very attentive and cared for us as special guests. The presentation and quality of the meals were superb! We loved our room with our private bath - which we used 3 times during our stay. We are definitely planning to return one day!!
Review 35:Nothing.
Review 36:Excellent Kaiseki breakast and dinners. Extremely warm and friendly staff. Peaceful and relaxing atmosphere and onsen bath. Comfortable yukatas to wear for dinner and before and after bathing.
Review 37:We spent one night in early September at this beautiful traditional japanese hotel and spa. Everything was perfect in every single detail. We were welcomed in the hall by our maid and by the hotel concierge, who could speak also English and Italian! We were served tea in our room, which is traditional with tatami floor, then bathed in the hotel onsen (traditional japanese bath). Dinner was simply delicious and a treat for the eyes, it was so beautifully displayed. It is served in a private space with tatami floor and wooden/paper walls, so it's very romantic. It consisted of a number of very small dishes, colourful and very tasty, based on seasonal foods, plus soup, rice, sashimi (raw fish) and meat. Futons were laid out for the night, and they turned out to be very comfy. The room was spacious and equipped with every comfort, even if it was one of the cheapest of the hotel, and everything was spotlessly clean. All rooms have private toilet and bath. Guests are given slippers and beautiful yukata (japanese cotton robe for indoor or for summerwear) that can be worn around the hotel and also outside for a stroll in town. Breakfast is japanese style, so again fish, soup and rice are the main dishes. The onsen is separate for men and women, and both have indoor and outdoor baths (rotenburo), which is simply wonderful at night. They are open all night long. The staff is always extremely helpful and nice and can explain everything in case of doubts about japanese etiquette ;) Also, we found Shuzenji a charming town, and enjoyed the outdoor footbath, the shrine and hiking the surrounding hills. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody looking for a real japanese treat. It is not cheap, but it's totally worth the money.
Review 38:Wifi signal is too weak to get access.
Review 39:This Ryokan offers really great Japanese food, traditional and authentic. Japanese style suites are a must-stay. Room was clean and comfortable. The staffs were friendly and able to communicate with good English. The open air Onsen are sensational.
Review 40:Taizanso is a great experience for a few nights. The rooms are spotlessly clean traditional old Japan and the food is superb. The hot springs allow for inside bathing or outdoor. Ryu and Sunny speak good English and can't do enough for you. Also the township is great to explore. We will be back again.
Review 41:We liked everything about Taizanso, it would have been great to have breakfast included.
Review 42:The staff were lovely and very helpful. The onsen was relaxing and the room was beautifully presented and well equipped.
Review 43:We like Staff , room , onsen and the cosy place eventhough the onsen is quite small. It's also easy to walk around from Taisanso.
