Reviews for Hotel Pinnalanda
Review 1:- Elephants outside your balcony - Hot water, A/C - Took our luggage before the check-in and then moved to our rooms later - Have free room for a driver
Review 2:The food was not particularly good and we usually eat pretty much everything. Breakfast is ok.
Review 3:Location is perfect to see the elephants. It's enough to spend here maximum 1 night, after 4 p.m there is nothing to do here; however it's ok to relax.
Review 4:There was a change in my one booking for a different room. Any way hotel did some compensation. But we are not expecting such changes. The hotel would have informed us such things before reach.
Review 5:It is really nice to look at elephant whole day staying in the room with my kids.
Review 6:They switched the hotel for my booking, so I didn't get the perfect Elephant bath view I expected. Hot water not functioning well. Ridiculously expensive for simple dishes. We could hear loud noises from the construction site nearby regularly. Not worth at all for a honeymoon couple.
Review 7:Great view from the window and room is very spacious.
Review 8:Not working electricity. Hotel charged price for buffet lunch even for small kids (3 years old) at the same price as for adult.
Review 9:Great views to the river with Elephant bath.
Review 10:There are noxperiences to be found.
Review 11:If you like elephants this the place to go. Staff are great and location for elephant watching is superb. It is not five star nor does it say they are. If you want a great experience don't miss this hotel.
Review 12:The room has a lot of mold in the bathroom and it created a horrible smell in the whole room. Also there was no mosquito net for all the bugs.
Review 13:I liked waking up to the elephants outside in the river
Review 14:Very empty; we were the only coupe there in the evening. Very weird. Extremely noisy; our room was directly below the restaurant, and the staff started moving the restaurant chairs around very early in the morning. In hindsight, we should have just gone for a day trip as there wasn't anything to do at night, and the staff all but shut down the hotel.
Review 15:We had a big roach in our room. Also couldn't keep our window open because staff continually walked by and looked in.
Review 16:We LOVED OUR VIEW and the extremely friendly staff! We also loved having AC, a great breakfast right outside our door and a hot shower. Best river hotel as far as location! The elephants are closest to this hotel!
Review 17:The whole hotel and restaurant area looks quite run-down and dirty, gives a feeling of a complete tourist trap. Food (buffet lunch) was okay but wouldn't eat there again, only did so because had no other choice - Pinnawala doesn't have a lot of facilities, only the elephants and a few hotels along the river. When asked about taxi price to our next destination, staff gave us a number that was ridiculously high compared to any other in town.
Review 18:The rooms look new, are in perfect condition and well equipped, which is a big surprise compared to the hotel itself. The handful of rooms they have available have a first row view onto the river and the elephants, you can even watch these amazing creatures from your room for hours. Don't need to mingle with the crowds in the restaurant area, you have your private terrace and table by the river, in front of your rooms.
Review 19:The staff at the reception was not welcoming at all. No proper dinner available, only from a bistro near the hotel
Review 20:Great view. Seeing the elephants in the river while having breakfast is really worth staying in the hotel.
Review 21:We bought tickets to the Elephant Orphanage and after paying were told to go to watch them bathing, they're all at the river. We went back in the afternoon, same story. Save your money, these gorgeous creatures are right at your door, most of the day.
Review 22:I doubt there is a better place to stay in Pinnawala and with only 3 rooms, it feels quite exclusive! Although the hotel is nothing fancy, it is nice and comfortable and the location can't be beaten. Staff were very attentive and helpful too!
Review 23:- Very expensive food and less quantity - To many stairs to reach room (101) - Breakfast is a set menu no buffet
Review 24:- Elephant bathing - Elephant trips to river
Review 25:I visited this hotel in January 2015 with my wife and daughter, and now I have returned to the hotel for two days in May 2015 with her son. Kind staff, beautiful surroundings and rooms with spectacular views. Beautiful place to observe elephants and relaxation.
Review 26:Dinner menu could be improved
Review 27:Wonderful location, whether you are out for leisure and want to relax for some time, this hotel offers a great view with greenery, river and most of all, the elephants who come to bathe in river at least twice a day. It's fun watching them play in the river. This also brings great opportunity for photography. Staff is also quiet friendly and helpful. Also, a great small market with shops selling stuff made of buffalo leather, elephant poo and wood as well as some traditional handicrafts is right outside this hotel. Good place to get souvenirs, don't forget to bargain though.
Review 28:Only bad work wifi internet connection. Ae otherwise nothing wrong, no criticism
Review 29:I was very satisfied and so we return again, this time for two nights in May. It is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful location with a wonderful insight on the river with elephants.Personable staff at the reception and in the restaurant. Clean, beautiful environment.
Review 30:We arrived in at 1am and there was no personal to show us in. A kind guard sorted things out after 20mins
Review 31:Great location. No need to visit the zoo as it comes to you.
Review 32:After the elephant park closed, not much to do in area. No shops open after the park closes, feels a little isolated. Wifi not always working
Review 33:Incredible view to view the elephants! Great to wake up and have breakfast near the animals! Very special!
Review 34:Dirty blankets, walls, ants in room. Hotel manager cheating customers (we paid for deluxe room, manager gave us standard room. After complaints, they gave us better room).
Review 35:Good location- close to the river with elephants
Review 36:I booked 2 rooms for US $85,but a was slugged a extra $70 dollars for a service fee.Nothing was mentioned to me before the booking was made.
Review 37:I liked the location of the hotel the fact that i could open the door and sit on the balcony and watch the elephants at bath time near the river.
Review 38:wifi good in the room but not available in the lobby we booked a river view room but it wasn't available, they gave us 20% discount to compensate restaurant a bit more expensive than the average, food so so
Review 39:very close to the elephant orphanage, just in front of the area where the elephants are washed you can see them from the terrace clean, staff very nice good place to enjoy the elephants experience
Review 40:Lack of menu choice in the evening.
Review 41:A fantastic location right above the elephant bathing area. Very friendly staff. Slightly shabby but not untypical of other Srilankan hotels
Review 42:Basic room, staff was not as welcoming and friendly as others in the country. Food was below average.
Review 43:Perfect place to look at elephants, while having lunch or beakfast. Clean room.
Review 44:Free Wifi, but reception was weak in some places
Review 45:Perfect location, you have direct view on the elephants bathing in the river - skip the orphanage visit, with the elephants in the river you have seen the best part of it; staff very friendly and proactively helpful; good breakfast served on the terrace above the river; Rooms spacious & clean
Review 46:The bugs , ants, flies and mosquitoes everywhere maybe the facility could invest in some good quality bug detterents and no wifi in the rooms only very near to lobby.
Review 47:The Location was excellent affording great views from the Balcony and easy access to The Elephant Orphanage and Even KAndy. The Staff and management was extremely helpful and kind. The rooms spacious and clean.
Review 48:Nice view on the river with elephants...
Review 49:direct view to the river with the elephants

Review 61:The location of this hotel is fantastic. We had a river view and could just sit on the porch outside our room and watch the elephants!

Review 77:Comfortable newly built spacious room with a nice bathroom.. Clean n nicely arranged room with an excellent view of the elephants bathing in the river..
Review 78:Rooms are comfortable, but overpriced. Food is very expensive and very average. Only reason to stay are elefants really...
Review 79:Location just at the river means you dont need to pay 2000rp/p entrance fee to orphanage and you still see the best crazy water elefants.
