Reviews for Marukyu Ryokan
Review 1:The view from the room is overlooking the river which is great but it is also overlooking the other hotels and houses. I was hoping it to be more private.
Review 2:We have stayed in many Ryokans over the years and we are generally provided with the same products e.g. Tatami bed, Kaiseki meals, fewer rooms, quiet locations etc. For Marukyu we were pleasantly surprise with the extras that we did not expect. 1. The Onsens were very personal. You can privately enjoy the Onsen by yourself. You are spoilt with a few options too. 2. The Owner and the care taker were very Genuine and we felt very well taken care off. We apologized for not writing down their names. 3. The minute you step into the small lobby you are greeted with a very nice smell/aroma. This is one Ryokan we did not want to leave. So thank you for making our stay pleasant.
Review 3:Location is quite far from restaurants and train station
Review 4:very friendly and helpful staff. Family baths available for free of charge. Delicious breakfast.
Review 5:Nothing, it was perfect.
Review 6:One of the best stays in any hotel ever for us. What an experience! Amazing food, stunning service and beautifully peaceful experience.
Review 7:It is a bit far and not convenience if you do not have a car. Better not to take bulky luggage like us.
Review 8:Impressed by the environment and the dinner. I stayed at Murakyu ryokan and arai ryokan, one night in each hotel. I like murakyu a lot more than Arai! The price is cheaper, and it is more comfortable. Most visitors are Japanese. The room is big and very comfortable. We enjoyed a lot! Very nice staff and good service. When we leave, the staff would say goodbye, watching you leave and keep weaving until we disappear from their sight. Funny scenario :-D If you are comparing this one with Arai Ryokan, I strongly recommend this to you. Will definitely stay in this ryokan for the next visit.
Review 9:My family and me can not sleep whole night since big big noise outside the window,do not know it's made by air condition or the river sound ,it's terrible feeling to us
Review 10:good services
Review 11:Everything is good
Review 12:Friendly and help boss and staff. Breakfast is good. We stayed for two days and they are so thoughtful to prepare different set of food for breakfast for both days. We like the open air onzen on the 5th floor, nice embience n comfy space to soak 3 person.
Review 13:Good location close to the start of the town's scenic walking path. Beautiful decor in the public spaces. We could hear the sound of the flowing river and uguisu (nightingale) singing from the room. Staff was kind and attentive, and the food above average for a ryokan. We slept in a Japanese style room, which was very comfortable and quiet. We used the private rotemburo (outside bath) on the top floor, which was a giant cypress wood tub with a lovely fragrance. Staff doesn't speak much English, but is unfailingly kind and helpful.
Review 14:Onsen doesn't have a cool-down tub. Hotel allows smoking, so there's an occasional whiff of smoke. Probably not an issue unless you are very sensitive. wifi is only available in the lobby.
Review 15:Fantastic! Language barrier existed, but staff was very accommodating. Pretty much every aspect of the Ryokan is fantastic! Onsen is beautiful, outdoor bath is refreshing. The food is phenomenal! I would recommend this place to anyone! And I hope to go back!!
Review 16:No wifi in the room, only at lobby.
Review 17:Everything was superb. Service was excellent, very attentive and helpful. Room was spacious and clean. Public and private baths available without extra charge!
Review 18:- you have to be prepared that the price per night, even including ample dinner and breakfast, is higher than in hotels - early check-out (10am??) - AC heating in rooms (could be something different?)
Review 19:- an extremely warm and personalized welcome and farewell from our hosts and the staff - an amazing multi-set traditional dinner which was enough to satisfy a small army - thermal bathing and overall ryokan experience like sleeping on the floor, drinking tea, wearing kimono (which is provided) etc. - yes! our landlord spoke English - thank you for respecting the travelers from abroad!
Review 20:Some naked guy was accidentally in the women's bath :(
Review 21:Everything. The yuzu lemon drink we got upon arrival was amazing! Staff was very attentive and helpful too. Would definitely stay here again :)
Review 22:Fabulous experience! Private onsen is free too! We are satisfied with everything there!
Review 23:Could have a bit more western choices for breakfast. Need a clock and safety measures inside public bath.
Review 24:Service, property, location, dinner.
Review 25:View
Review 26:Dinner
Review 27:Not much to do around this ryokan and the hot springs where rather small. There could have put more area into bigger hot springs.
Review 28:The futon beds were a little thinner than we are used to and we did not sleep very well
Review 29:the baths and hot tubs are amazing, as well as the food
