Reviews for Green Land Guest House

Review 1:No staff, building work,no kitchen, old food for breakfast, worst creaking bed ever, ghost town after 5pm don't get stuck here, room a bit tired and old.

Review 2:In a word elephant's

Review 3:The location was magnificent! Watching the elephants walk past your balcony several times a day was amazing and you got to watch the elephants in the river for free! Breakfast was delicious. Omesh the hotel "concierge" (he does everything) was so helpful, knowledgable and wonderful to our family! I will recommend this hotel to everyone traveling to Sri Lanka.

Review 4:The most hospitable place! They make you feel so welcome! They will go above and beyond for you! Such a friendly atmosphere!! Simply adored my time there!!!!

Review 5:The hot water in the shower was sporadic

Review 6:Located inside elephant orphanage so you can walk down to see elephants being bathed within a couple of minutes. Clean and spacious rooms.

Review 7:Toilet. I saw a scorpion. But I killed it :).

Review 8:The staff were nice and helpful. I was able to make friends with one of the staff. His name is Omesh who helped me to save 1500 rupees for the elephant sight seeing.

Review 9:cold shower only, but not so bad in hot weather

Review 10:very near to the place in the river where elephants go to take a bath, elephants went directly the same street as the hotel was, you can just go from the hotel and about 100 metres to look how they take a bath And you can pay by card

Review 11:room provided had no A/C so poorly ventilated and stuffy. Hot water geyser broken. pantry tap removed so no water to wash. Drinking water not provided to the room

Review 12:Reasonably clean room and toilet,

Review 13:Leaving the place

Review 14:1. The location was right at the elephant pass which they are taken to the daily baths. 2. The breakfast was not a buffet, but the guys gave their level best to cater all of our needs. 3. Rooms were simple and spacious, but comfortable and clean. 4. Mr. Asanga, the guy who runs the place is really friendly and makes sure all your needs are attended, and he runs a great boutique with all sorts of souvenirs in the ground floor. The prices are affordable and the souvenirs he have are one of a kind, truly Sri Lankan. 4. This place gives you extra value for money and overall a great experience.

Review 15:The staff was very nice and very helpful, we could even see elephants from our balcony. One of my favorite stays in sri lanka.

Review 16:Food was good, staff was nice, knowledgeable and very helpful. Location! Big beds. Good AC.

Review 17:My bed was a little uncomfortable and the room was a little overpriced. Although the room had the air conditioning facility, they wanted more money for me to use it. There isn't any social area/relax area away from the room.

Review 18:The location was perfect and the staff will do all they can to help you.The WiFi was good and it was VERY clean.

Review 19:nothing really.

Review 20:The staff is just lovely, its an amazing family business and everyone is just so friendly. The room is big and comfortable. Breakfast is very decent. But the best is the location, you literally next to the elephants and you can see them all day in the river (and for free). Strongly recommend this place in case you are looking for a decent and cheap place to stay.

Review 21:The shower-head water pressure was a bit low.

Review 22:A hop, skip and a jump to where the elephants bath. Our room had a mini kitchen and a private balcony. Because it was off season it was quiet and peaceful. The attendant (I think he said he's name is Oshada) was quite helpful and even found me a cable to charge my iphone :)

Review 23:The location is so close to the river and actually in the orphanage. We could go watch the elephants in the river all day and didn't even have to pay the entry fee! The staff we're amazing. We left at 5am so could not make breakfast so they gave us a free dinner instead! The only downside is once the elephants go the whole place is a ghost town... It felt like we were the only people in the area an I tjjnk most people do day trips from kandy. Nonetheless, this place was awesome

Review 24:Steep steps to room and problems with ants. Room smelt of smoke.

Review 25:Stayed for one night to see the elephants bath. Awesome location. Staff were friendly, although hotel very quiet so not much going on. Rooms were really big and clean but basic. But great value for money.

Review 26:While Pinnawala is only a small town, the Green Land Guest House is walking distance to the elephant orphanage and the lake where they are taken to bathe. Breakfast is included and delicious and you can see the elephants walk to the river while you sip your morning coffee. Helpful, friendly staff. Great stay.

Review 27:Only downside is everyone leaves when the elephants do so it's a ghost town in the evening! Don't let that put you off though as we definitely think you need longer than a few hours to see the elephants especially as this hotel is so close!

Review 28:Location was perfect and the whole building was really nice, good rooms too! Staff so friendly, even got a lift off them to an elephant safari! Thanks for everything! Would definitely recommend.

Review 29:Although the mentioned, hot water was not available.. some wooden parts under the mattress was missing.. found bit difficult to sleep.. bed tea was horrible..

Review 30:Location is ok.. walking distance to the orphanage and bathing place.. room is large.. Breakfast is fine...

Review 31:Needs renovation. Now too expensieve for what you get. Pictures look better than it is. If the owner puts some energy in it, it can become Great. Has good potential. But it is a Nice place to stay tough, but for less money.

Review 32:Te duur voor wat je ervoor krijgt. Mag best een opknapbeurt krijgen, want het heeft veel potentie.

Review 33:Shower had two shower heads. One for hot water and the other for cold water. It was impossible. Bed covers were very dingy. Dirty looking. Towels were definitely dirty.

Review 34:Shower was nice and big. Great balcony. Staff was nice.

Review 35:Absolutely nothing

Review 36:Location and staff, especially the young man. 8-10 min Tuktuk from the station. didn't realise how close to the river this place was, just a 2 min walk through a bright shopping ally and you are there. We had breakfast and the young man, who seemed to be cooking as well, told us often a few of the orphanage elephant's had an early bath, so at 8:30 we wondered down and saw about 8 elephant's bathing. We were invited to join in washing and feeding (bananas for sale and we also gave a donation ) . There was only one other couple, so we really had a hands on and intimate experience. At 10 am the officer sounded a hooter to tell everyone the larage group was coming through the streets. What a spectacular parade, and as we were browsing in the shops we got to see them pass. Now the benefits of this all came into perspective as about 50 people on the orphanage experience followed them to the river. We had decided not to do the orphanage because we have lived in Thailand and had many previuos elephant opportunities. OK back to the hotel. Great room, nice and open. We were allowed to use the washing machine which was a bonus. There is a bit of diningroom renovation going on but at no time disturbing and near completion. Overall we consider this a fantastic place at a very affordable price for all the bonuses.

Review 37:The staff were really friendly and helpful. We booked it an hour before our arrival, already in the night, without any problem. Just have to recommend!

Review 38:I am very happy to meet Mr. Agana from the reception, Mr. Agana takes care of us very friendly and spent with us the whole afteroon and help us to see the tea factory and spice garden. he organize our trip on elephants as well.

Review 39:There were not enough towels and zero toiletries. Sheets were washed but stained.

Review 40:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is superb, to the river about 2 minutes. Breakfast was nice, they even asked what we liked. Room spacious and simply furnished. AC possible and they put special mosquito fluid into the plug for us.

Review 41:We visited in september and we were the only guests, chairs stood on the table which was not very hospital.

Review 42:The location of the hotel was great, in the morning we saw 6 elephants bathing in the river. Around 10 o clock 50 elephants were coming to bath in the river. The breakfast was well made with fresh fruit and omelette. The people of the hotel were very kind and helpful with carrying our baggage and inform us about Sri Lanka.

Review 43:Friendly staff. Excellent position.

Review 44:Good view on elephants track from the balcony of cafe Fast staff, good breakfast Spacious rooms Liked it

Review 45:good breakfast, you can watch elephants from the orphanage going to the river for the bathing.

Review 46:Excellent location to see the elephants when they travel to the river

Review 47:Excellent location over viewing the elephants passing by. The staff was real friendly and the cleanliness was also real good

Review 48:Ants everywhere even on the bed

Review 49:Location is great, few meters to the river

Review 50:really friendly staff, reasonable price, nice breakfast, clean and large room

Review 51:You can see the elephants for free. Verry friendly. Good omelet

Review 52:Room not set up for twin beds when we arrived. Had to make do with extra mattress on floor. Breakfast service slow

Review 53:Proximity to elephant orphanage

Review 54:Ac did not work well

Review 55:Location and staff. Great fresh juice for breakfast.

Review 58:Location was perfect Staff were helpful Room was HUGE, and clean

Review 59:Neighbors burning garbage as in many places in Sri Lanka.

Review 60:Spacios, balcony with lots of green outside.

Review 61:We planned this just to see the elephants bathing but alas due to high water which was fast flowing they were not taken to bath

Review 62:rooms were empty, small, loud and dirty, we couldnt see the promised elephants from it.

Review 63:Friendly staff

Review 64:There was just some toast and juice for breakfast and it was disappointing.

Review 65:The proximity to the Pinnawala Elephant Reserve

Review 66:The rooms were a bit dated with unfinished areas an a lot of construction

Review 67:The service and location were excellent

Review 68:Furniture and bathroom was quite worn out. The part of the second floor is under construction but no noise, very quite.

Review 69:The location is near the elephant way to the river. From the room we could see them going along the street. The room is large with a very big bed. Hot water. Very tasty dinner and breakfast. Staff is helpful the whole atmosphere is homelike. In whole is a good place to stay.
