Reviews for The Station Hotel
Review 1:- The kitchen wasn't well designed. Little space and with only one power point for kettle and toaster we always had to be careful not to unplug the fridge by accident. - The rooms have thin walls, cold at night, even in summer
Review 2:- Good location for visiting the national park and Mt Kosciuszko - Quiet and lots of space in the room and outside
Review 3:maybe slightly better noise insulation between rooms, friend next door claims to have heard me snoring during the night
Review 4:We were able to have 5 couples in 5 rooms close together with plenty of room for vehicles, also having the hotel and bistro on site we didn't need to go out for meals etc. after being out all day.
Review 5:I found the walls to be very thin as you can hear everything being said next door from TV and general chatting at 7am not good.
Review 6:I liked the country feel and friendly staff along with a good sized room for all 3 of us.
Review 7:the rooms had a distinctive smell to it when we opened the door. A good air freshner or open some windows would have helped. But the smell disappeared after windows were open
Review 8:It was quiet and rooms had a homely feel. Loved the fact we could be away from everything yet be so close to shopping g centre Also loved that we could cook our own food and all kitchen tools were supplied to us.
Review 9:Would like a kettle, toaster and microwave so make it easy to self cater breakfast for a family
Review 10:Good clean, spacious accomodation for a larger group. Would be happy to stay there again. Convenient ski hire and meals available
Review 11:The initial unit given to us stunk really bad, if I had o stay in that unit I would have been violently ill!, there were also ants in the bathroom. We were able to move units as it was not excessively busy, however in the second unit we were supplied a used dirty sponge for the dishes and all the kitchen crockery and utensils were grubby- don't think the housekeeping is of the best standard.
Review 12:The accomodation was sufficient with lots of space reception staff were really good.
Review 13:The rooms were dirty. We paid $356 per night for a room that had no where to put your wet ski clothes-no clothes horse or rails. There was no table or chairs just 6 beds. No cooking facilities-only a kettle. Very disappointing for the amount it cost to stay per night as compared to other places in Jindabyne for the same amount.
Review 14:I liked that it was open enough for the kids to run around.
Review 15:Rooms are not sound proof at all. Really tiny fiber wall let you ear every single noise on adjacent room
Review 16:Bistro was cheap for an all you can eat. plus food was great too!
Review 17:Buffet breakfast and dinner was horrible. I prepurchased and actually asked for a refund after the first night on the remaining days. This was done after dealing with miscommunication and rudeness from staff. I have also previously stayed in the hotels family room... Was not a fan! We could hear every word of the crass young men next door, which wouldn't have bothered us too much except we were travelling with children aged 2-13. The room was also lacking in comfort and too small for families. This resort could really do with an upgrade to their amenities. Offering spa suits or communal spa and indoor pool and having a look at their menu, quality of food and food preparation/cooking/delivery would be beneficial even if charging a little more.
Review 18:Budget accomodation close to Jindabyne. 2 bedroom apartment was spacious and clean. The resorts grounds were big enough for the children to run free. Dinner at the grill of steak cooked by us was the best as far as food options.
Review 19:No music playing at the pub!!
Review 20:We thought the room was a great novelty to all be in the one room together as a family. We thought the On the Run Pizza was great the Bar and Grill was excellent. The Hotel had friendly staff. It was all walking distance home! My brother and his family stayed in a flash motel in town but had a better experience coming for dinner at The Station and intend on coming to The Station next year instead. I thought it was fantastic, can't wait to come back next year!
Review 21:Rooms were filthy. Found various objects under the bed (ski boot buckle and lid of a deodorant can). Cobwebs on the roof and the carpet was stained. The beds were really uncomfortable with springs digging into your back.
Review 22:thin walls, its got its own buffet and restaurant, but it can be very busy/crowded during holiday season (1 hr wait for a takeaway pizza !) and its a fair drive to Jindabyne to get food. Wasn't allowed a microwave in the rooms and because we have a toddler where we prepare her meals, it was quite inconvenient. Ok if u don't travel with kids.
Review 23:close to the snow, on frills accommodation. Clean and roomy. Will book the suite next time.
Review 24:The ease of on line booking with early purchase discounts for the room, the band on Wednesday night, Perisher ski pass and ski hire all prior to arrival and that it was just a matter of showing up and it was all sorted, yay!
Review 25:Cabins are very basic (although they are warm, and all the essentials are provided). During the snow season there is a horrific traffic queue to get to the Jindabyne roundabout in the morning.
Review 26:Good place for snowboarders in their twenties to stay. The pub has live music in the evenings. There is an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet.
Review 27:The beds were unfortunately really un-comfy.
Review 28:The shower and heater were really good. Allthough the location wasn't great it was good to have a few eateries close by.
Review 29:Walls were so thin, the guy next door snored all night and I had to stuff toilet paper in my ears!!!!
Review 30:Reasonable price for cabin style accommodation, happy with what we got for our money
Review 31:The beds were pretty uncomfortable, all three of us were complaining about it and had sore backs. For the price of the accommodation there isn't a lot included. At this price point, pretty much all other places would at the *bare* minimum include breakfast.
Review 32:Location is great, just a few minutes outside of Jindabyne. Self contained units have ample heating and room for 3 people.
Review 33:Only the matteress, was a bit lumpy and hard
Review 34:The price and facilities were good, far enough away from noise. Room was large and great for myself and my 3 children
Review 35:Downside was the horrible coffee purchased from 'On the go' takeaway and breakfast store. 5 bucks for a small (only came in one size)! Also, bistro only served 'cook your own' meats which were very exy. Poor quality meat. Didn't try buffet as had heard poor reviews and wasn't overly hungry. It seems the whole of Jindabyne has terrible coffee and mostly terrible food. Maybe a gap in the market for any entrepreneurs out there! Side note: I would recommend not hiring snow gear online through Perisher and the station deals. You can pick equipment up from local hire stores for far cheaper and you are supporting what I believe to be local businesses (may all be owned together - not sure).
Review 36:Warm, clean and comfortable room. Was a small but welcome luxury to arrive back at a warm room after cold day of skiing. Facilities were awesome - pub was great with fireplace and entertainment options.
Review 37:We had some very very loud neighbours playing music till 1am and crashing around the room. My only complaint is that we had no idea who to ring to deal with it, we just had to wait it out until they were quiet. Not The Stations fault, however maybe more clear instructions for dealing with loud neighbours would be great! Maybe some kind of handbook in the room or something with numbers to call.
Review 38:Rooms were basic yet had all you needed for your stay. Great for groups as it has a large bathroom and lots of beds. Great facilities such as bar/bistro. About a 20min drive to the SkiTube.
Review 39:Walls too thin. Paper thin. Could hear "everything" from the people next door. Not good with kids around. Cabins looking very tired and old. Buffet was good but charging adult rate ($25) for a 13yr girl is too much. No wifi in rooms and average tv reception. Wont book again with family.
Review 40:Convenient rural location with short drive to skitube, very friendly staff. Buffet was pretty good but expensive for kids. Reasonable value for snow trip if noise doesnt bother you.
Review 41:Hot water in the shower was only enough for 1 shower. My partner had the water go cold twice. After skiing we wanted a warm room and a hot shower - didn't quite get there.
Review 42:Room was warm. Location was good.
Review 43:Hi, to see more cleaning, our room was not even vacuumed the whole weekend , or linen changed or cleaned No new towels for 3 days ! However the staff were nice .
Review 44:the staff were nice . Location was ok and nice to wake up to nature.
Review 45:Customer service Cleaning staff only changed bins No one made our beds No privacy Could hear people from next door
Review 46:Location for Ski Resorts Economical
Review 47:Only negative was that the microwave had not been cleaned.
Review 48:The two bedroom unit was very spacious and comfortable. Kitchen was fabulous . Everything you needed was supplied. The units were further away from the main part of The Station, therefore it was quiet during the night.
Review 49:Still Rubbish from previous guest in bathroom. clearly house keeping came in during the day... but didn't clean anything or replace one towel out of 6.... Staff continously said "yeah thats fine, they will organise that when you check in, when you go to breakfast.. etc etc" yet always wrong procedure and had to pay at higher cost.
Review 50:bed was comfortable.
Review 51:Long way out of town, the rooms arent serviced, so by the end of the week, the carpet was covered in grass walked in from outside and there was no real way to clean up, though they did top up our uht milks and new plastic throw away cups each day, so make sure you hang your towels up, or they will be wet and cold next time, as they aren't replaced.
Review 52:The room had 6 single beds, for me (father) my kids 7, 16 &17 it was functional, plenty of hot water, good heater, smorgasbord food close by ( about $25 per head), kids $1 per year up to 14. Good after a day's skiing not flash but ok. Bar fridge in the room and a kettle, beds a few wardrobes and that's about it very basic but does the job on a budget.
Review 53:We would have liked a take away breakfast - there were only 2 muffins sitting in the display so we got them.
Review 54:Smorgasbord dinner was fantastic and reasonably priced. It was a hoot after a day in the snow. Very pleased!
Review 55:The eateries nearby (not sure they're part of The Station) weren't very attractive, lacking in options and are laid out awkwardly. Little signage theoughout. The fireplace was good, though.
Review 56:As stated before, the fireplace, the cabin layout is easy to find and allows for privacy.
Review 57:I am speaking h behalf of my 6 friends! We spent 4 nights at the station and every night was a memorable night! We spent a lot of our time in the brewery as young people do. The bar staff were absolutely fantastic, everyday without fail they would ask how our boarding went for the day! The activities and live bands definetly topped it off! Thankyou very much for a great trip!
Review 58:Being woken up all night every night by the surrounding neighbors due to the noise traveling through the paper thin walls, that have no sound insulting qualities whatsoever. Be prepared to be incredibly intimate with whomever may be on the other side of the wall as you will hear their every move and hear their every conversation. Paying a premium price for a low class service.
Review 59:Nothing.
Review 60:The bathroom toilet was unclean from previous visitors. Beds were very uncomfortable. Basic rooms would have served better if it had a microwave.
Review 61:Rooms were nice and warm. Easy access to everything.
Review 62:The people in the cabin next door stayed up late drinking and talking loud, every second word starting with F and trust me you can hear every word through the walls.
Review 63:Price plus easy check in and out.
Review 64:If the room says it is a non smoking room - then I am expecting that the room will not reek of previous smokers Also don't like seeing random long black hairs on my pillow
Review 65:Cheap
Review 66:The terms and conditions were changed twice after I had made the booking and paid for the accommodation. The room was designed for sleeping only and it was a struggle to manage our food preparation. Food services available at the facilities did not cater well for dietary requirements being for nutritious food free of Gluten and Dairy.
Review 67:Simple stay for purposes of activities away from the Accommodation.
Review 68:I wasn't aware cleaners go through the rooms daily even if only staying a few nights. The beds were old & could feel springs when sleeping in them.
Review 69:The price & facilities were pretty good. Enjoyed the buffett dinner in the restaurant. Great location as well
Review 70:The carpet and duvet covers weren't particularly clean. Also would have been good to have some chairs in the 6 bed room
Review 71:Price. Room was good size for 6 people
Review 72:We hated the stay, there were stains on both the beds, hair on one of the pillows. Gave me single beds instead of what was on the itinerary. I complained and the manager was happy to give us our money. But we looked to book with another hotel, but they were either booked or they couldn't cater because we exceeded room capacity. So we had to stay there but left as early as possible. The beds were poor. Even dinner at the restaurant appalling the chips and calamari weren't cooked, so we thru them out. Never again
Review 73:I liked nothing about this so called hotel. My thought was this was a hotel but the manager said its a budget motel.
Review 74:Nothing. If I had to have a negative it would be that the walls are alittle thin. I was a bit concerned we might disturb the neighbours butsoon realised they were up early too with little ones.
Review 75:It was budget accomodation without compromise. Good old fashioned valuefor money. Refreshing to go on holiday and not feel you are taken for aride at every opportunity.
Review 76:The water-saver shower heads - you waste more water then you would with a normal shower head. the food in the bistro wasnt to standard for the price. Need more activities for younger kids 2-8 year olds, eg: more age appropriate games in Happy Jacks Bar area & outside play equipment.
Review 77:Great location - wasn't to far from town, great views - loved looking at the surrounding countryside, quite location - didn't hear anything but the native wildlife. Friendly service
Review 78:Only 2 chairs for room to sleep 6. Had to sit on bed for somewhere to sit. Cleaners obviously came into room but only emptied bins and left extra paper cups (for coffee) - did not leave further supplies of bathroom consumables even though obviously needed and also suspect they went through our belongings. We brought a microwave with us (as only a kettle supplied in room) to heat medically required heat packs - the cleaners obviously saw it, assumed we were cooking and left us a note threatening us with a "cleaning fee". Yet to discover if they have charged us. Carpeted floor stained and filthy. Graffiti on furniture and fittings.
Review 79:Room was pre warmed and warm enough when we arrived. TV of decent size to be seen sitting on edge of nearest bed (fair distance away!).
Review 80:It was freezing cold and staff told me the heating not on till temp dropped (!) thought had booked with a kitchen but only had a fridge and kettle. 2 days they didn't replenish towels even though on floor
Review 81:Checking out
Review 82:Not enough power points and No wifi. Thin walls, could hear neighbours have a conversation.
Review 83:Comfy, always good coming back to a heated room. Straight forward, nothing fancy but does the trick. Close to everything.
Review 84:Lost power in room nobody on site to assist. Booked a family room (double, 2 singke beds) got six single beds. Toenail clippings on floor and mould in shower. Staff flippant about loss of power & room booked. disappointing!
Review 85:Distance to snow!
Review 86:One bedroom apartment was too close and everything was audible to other room.the guy next door to us keep on banging our wall.and didn't let us sleep whole night.poor experience
Review 87:The lady at reception had a excellent customer service . she changed our room at our request at earliest possible.
Review 88:The thin walls. The 2 guys in the adjoining hut snored like water buffalo.
Review 89:Cost of accomodation. The people at reception. The meals at the pub. I will be back next year.
Review 90:If you go to ski, the station provides a good level of accommodation. The accomodation was well heated, hot water was hot and plentiful, bed comfortable and room was quite. Parking was handy to the room.
Review 91:I didn't like the fact that we now have paper cups in the room. The noise we complained & then we had to move. Our freedom pass was not accepted after a meal was purchase.
Review 92:The closeness to the town & snow fields. We have been staying there for years & I'm afraid the Station is not what is once was.
Review 93:This accommodation was nothing more than a demountable with 4 units and single beds as I booked double acc no upgrade was even offered. The place looked unclean with no eating facilities besides plastic cups. I did not even stay there as would the worst place I have seen in my travels around Aust. NO REFUND was offered.
Review 94:NOTHING I left and looked for other accommodation with 3 other disappointed couples.
Review 95:Drunken yelling out and swearing until 3am in the morning.Security had to come and take action at this behaviour next door to us.We were so tired it ruined our skiing the next day.Major disappointment !
Review 96:Cheap meals On site ski hire
Review 97:thin walls between rooms!!!! you can hear everything!!! guests need to be alerted so as not to disturb neighbors. No Wi-Fi in rooms!!! must wait for bar to open at 4pm to use that Wi-Fi!! lack of sleep due to rude neighbors
Review 98:i liked the price, close enough to Thredbo & Perisher. bar is nice and live music makes for a fun time.
Review 99:Thin walls. Neighbours with children were very noisy.
Review 100:That it big enough to split between a group. More affordable than other places to have a weekend at the snow and reasonably clean and comfortable
Review 101:The room was clean & tidy! However walls paper thin! U can hear every noise coming through the walls! Can be very annoying when other guests are up all night!
Review 102:The walls are a bit thin between cabins, pity they didn't insulate them better!! A toaster and microwave would have been handy too, and a small table maybe.
Review 103:Easy access to meals bistro, good food, nice staff. Good size room, good value
Review 104:There was an aerial on the roof which made noises at night very minor thing which can be fixed easily otherwise great
Review 105:Excellent location was really only 5 mins from jindy. The station has everything you need bistro pub Buffett takeaway pizza which were yummy if u want to eat in your room. Wasn't expecting to much but the room was bigger then I expected which was great as we had my daughter who still sleeps in a cot
Review 106:No microwave Blanket is quite cold Can't control the heater (temperature)
Review 107:Room size is very big Big screen TV Coffee n tea supplies Fridge etc.
Review 108:The heat controls int the room were quite difficult to adjust. The first night felt like we were in a sauna.
Review 109:What we eally liked was that just 2 minutes walk from our room there was a great bar with a roaring fire. It was also great that we had a choice of dining options that were all great quality for a very reasonable price.
Review 110:The walls of the room we stayed in were paper thin. We could hear the conversations and tv from the rooms around. Also the thermostat didn't work so it was cold
Review 111:Not much
Review 112:We booked a double room and were surprised to be given a room with six single beds. The staff were unable to move us or provide bedding that was suitable to make two singles into a double bed. The staff treated us very unfairly and manipulated the fact that we booked through bookings.com to claim that they had not been informed that we required a double room.
Review 113:The heating in the apartment being uncontrolable and the paper thin walls causing us to share our stay with the less than happy kids next door. I'm sure if the owner's of the Station were guests at even basic accommodation they would appreciate the fundamental basic of a wall dividing their apartment with the one next door to provide at least 50% sound proofing.
Review 114:Plenty of room for parking and everything is on site.
Review 115:Plant room was very noisy. Neighbouring guess had small screaming childred and a crying baby, which made it had to get any sleep. Room were very dated and un-appealing. Very basic.
Review 116:The walls were paper thin, rude obnoxious neighbours, security did nothing to control this, room service did not do their job properly as far as cleanliness. Out of the way, heating was broken in our room. Bed sheets had not been washed and smelt like the BO of the previous booking. Only if your desperate!!!
Review 117:Our motel room was very clean, and well stocked with lovely soaps and a tea station (including coffee, teabags, a kettle, milk, and sugar!) The Station also had a buffet area, which was around $20 per adult. They had a surprisingly good vegetarian range. We're intending to stay here again. It is a pleasant drive to Mt Kosciuszko National Park, so we will be taking full advantage.
Review 118:The buffet expensive and wasnt much there to choose. Most containers empty.. also waited at bar 20mins was ignored along with 3 other customers..
Review 119:Room was good size and nice surroundings
Review 120:Excellent value for money. Room was simple but clean, tidy, and everything you could expect for the minimal price of the room. Would stay again and would happily recommend to others :-)
Review 121:Space for kids to run around
Review 122:Limited food choice at bistro
Review 123:convenience for snowy ride
Review 124:We didn't check in or out with staff and I would have liked to thank you for the lovely rooms!
Review 125:It was very clean and in a good location.
Review 126:Rubbish was not cleared over the 3 days
Review 127:Pete Hastings was amazingly helpful and supportive towards us with our conference
Review 128:Convenience of having a conference on the premises enabled us not to have to drive anywhere and have fun.
Review 129:Great that kids had free meal with adults dinner on last week
Review 130:The kids able to play jango Blocks up at the pub such a great environment
Review 131:Expensive drinks
Review 132:Check in and out easy
Review 133:Falling off broken chair and going through glass door
Review 134:Uncomfortable beds Shower Missing light bulbs
Review 135:Efficient check in
