Reviews for Hotel Casena Dei Colli
Review 1:This hotel is awful!!!!!!!!! I stayed here to be close to the palermo marathon which I was running in. Most of the guests were fellow competitors. The hotel booked in a noisy party that went on till 2am the night before the race! We tried to speak to a 'manager' who never appeared to deal with our complaints. This hotel does not have a clue about customer service or care about customers. Rooms were not cleaned properly. Air con was set to 25 degrees and couldn't be changed. We were told we wouldn't be charged for the noisy night, but when we checked out they changed their mind and said because we used booking.com we would be charged??? Hotel 'bar' was never open so you couldn't get coffee, no coffee left in rooms. Only time coffee bar was ever open was for some locals and not hotel guests. There was a street close by with cafes and restaurants but when we asked was there anywhere to buy coffee we were told there wasn't anywhere! This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, it ruined our holiday and ruined my marathon as I was too tired to run it with only 4 hours sleep. Booking.com should not even allow this hotel on their listings.
Review 2:Nothing.
Review 3:Hotel is a significant distance away from Palermo centre so not ideal for sightseeing. Room was poorly lit.
Review 4:Stayed in the newer part of the Hotel. Room very modern, clean and comfortable. Excellent restaurant. Excellent staff, helpful, friendly and courteous.
Review 5:The main picture of the hotel is not about the hotel but an event center. It is confused. We wanted to book a hotel far from the busy center of Palermo, but it seems this is in the middle. The traffic is catastrophic. It is a nightmare to go in and out by car. But this is not the hotel's problem !!! There are strange things in the bathroom. The washbasin does not have any edge to place the the soap or the tooth brush set. But there is a storage place next to the washbasin but on the hight of the toilet... There is no storage place in the shower. The fridge not cold enough. I can suggest the hotel if you want to see Palermo, but if you want to go to the beach or out of the city every day, I don't.
Review 6:Staff is very kind, helpful and flexible even the cleaner staff! We have tried 3 hotels in Sicily and the staff here was the best! The room was clean, big enough, calm, silent and the rented car had a good parking place outside of the hotel.
Review 7:The old building is nice, but the rooms are not connected to in and guests stay in more modern (some in rather run down) rooms. The pictures give a completely misleading image of the hotel.
Review 8:the hotel looks great and room are comfortable in the new wing but there are many very tall high-rise apartment buildings around the complex that spoil the views and look of the place. Palermo itself is very dirty and graffiti-ridden but here are some interesting buildings to visit (opera house)
Review 9:we asked for more modern room with more comfortable bed and after the first night they moved us to modern suite in new wing of hotel - excellent room with shower, bathroom, and a bath tub in middle of bedroom!! very luxurious! Breakfast was superb. Restaurant on site was only ok but young waiter was very kind and helpful. Gardens are being renovated when we were there so surroundings and palm trees should look great. Great outdoor pizzeria on the next street up.
Review 10:The lady on reception wasn t so attentive
Review 11:We stayed two last nights at the end of our trip. Though suff wasn t so helpful as in other family hotels this place is better to stay if u want to sleep well nice view to the mountain and close to the park.
Review 12:Bad Choice for breakfast. We asked to fix taxi for us but nobody did it. We asked to fix breakfast so that kids can have With us to airport, but no reaction.
Review 13:On site restaurant was weird and appeared to be novices. I don't speak Italian but pointed to selected wine on a menu list. Was brought a wrong size bottle which I rejected so they came back and opened a bottle of red merlot when I was pointing to a Chardonnay. I wasn't even shown the bottle before they opened it. We were given desert without us asking and thought it was complimentary until the bill came. Restaurant needs improvement as meals only fair standard. Great atmosphere in a villa however.
Review 14:Nearby Ancient Theatre had Rock band playing plus hotel had a large function all happening outside our room door so had a disturbed sleep before an early departure. Hotel did not warn us or locate us in a quiet atea despite written request prior to checkin.
Review 15:It was not clear (nor did the reception tell us) beforehand that you need to pay for the parking in the garage. But the good thing was that the hotel did not charge us for this when checking out after explaining the situation. There is a public parking that is free within the hotel (but not insured).
Review 16:Room was clean and comfortable
Review 17:There was a strange, sewage smell at the entrance to the complex which may not be the fault of the hotel operator. Probably not a long-term issue. A little noisy at night due to nearby clubs, but really not a big issue.
Review 18:The room was clean, well lit and air conditioned. Service was friendly and most staff could speak English, which was very helpful. Convivial atmosphere. Breakfast was reasonable, but could have done with some fresh fruit. In-room Wifi actually worked - unlike some more expensive places in northern Italy - and was fast.
Review 19:The photo in the booking. Com lead page is not the hotel itself. It is an adjacent building used for meetings and events . The hotel doesn't look like that. The hotel has a restaurant in what is one of the meeting rooms. The food was ok but no atmosphere. The tables had whit cloths but the chairs are plastic garden chairs. The room was full of single men - probably business men - all talking on their mobiles or checking their emails. There was one other couple. The head waiter was very surly and not at all welcoming. Our room overlooked a building site and a block if flats. We did not pay for a garden view but would suggest that it would be worth the extra. We had a very odd twin room; there was one bed up against the wall at one end if the room and then another up against the wall at the other end if the room. They looked like day beds and were very low to the ground. Not totally uncomfortable but slightly strange. Bathroom was fine, and the breakfast was ok. Avoid room 203.
Review 20:Quiet location. Nice garden . Parking for cars.
Review 21:Very loud toilets equipments.
Review 22:The view from the balkony was great, the place very calm, breakfast very good with a view to sea and nice garden. Free, safe parking.
Review 23:Hotel very tired though gracious old building & grounds needed tidying up. Room very dark & bed covers a little grubby, though linen clean. Shower recess small and shower rose needed fixing.
Review 24:Booked a superior room & was spacious. Comfortable bed, good breakfast & adjoining restaurant was very good, free onsite parking. Wifi free.
Review 25:had to ask for change of room(first one was small slightly dirty cramp bathroom and no privacy) Restaurant limited and very much as side line to the large events which were taking place most evenings
Review 26:big room(after having to ask for change) -balcony-minibar-free parking-easy access to city by bus
Review 27:The main picture has nothing to do with the hotel. We were initially shown to a room which smelt, without windows, and was not clean. When we asked to be moved we were told there were no other rooms. We then decided to check out and go and stay at another hotel. At this point a new, significantly improved room, suddenly became available.
Review 28:After threatening to check out because of our poor initial room we were taken to another side of the hotel which was much nicer and a better quality room
Review 29:Not a very pretty area, not much option food wise if you were to try and eat elsewhere.
Review 30:Modern room, restaurant was so so, gardens needed work, but it was nice to have the green space. Staff were helpful and spoke good English.
Review 31:The room was not cleaned particularly well. Wifi was patchy Room/bathroom in need of some TLC
Review 32:Pleasant, helpful staff Location fine Spacious room
Review 33:Wifi only in area near reception, rooms bit old fashioned, as out of city not much in the neighbourhood to do at night.
Review 34:On-site parking, helpful staff, pleasant garden, size of rooms.
Review 35:n/a
Review 36:staff helpful, nice room, good breakfast
Review 37:There was a banquet just two floors below us and it was very noisy.
Review 38:nice room
Review 39:Great place to stay. Breakfast was fantastic. Restaurant was good. The staff was attentive to our requests. We would enjoy visiting again.
Review 40:They were too many ants in the room.
Review 41:The servant at breakfast was very nice and on top of things.
Review 42:Location is not good. Too far from the City Centre.
Review 43:Wifi connection never worked. Location not so pratical if you want to go by bust to the centro of Palermo
Review 44:Gardens
Review 45:Far from each center, it was a football match and there was no bus to our hotel.
Review 46:It is a strange feeling about this place... Staff is nice.
Review 47:Place is nice with nice garden which are being renovated. Rooms are very nice and big with modern decoration. Great wifi.
Review 48:Even it was a last day of stay in Sicily, it was still hard to understand how the stuff of such hotel can not speak English
Review 49:Breakfast was very poor. On restaurant bill we got extra 25€. No taxi was ordered for departure morning and no breakfast bag
Review 50:Breakfast could be improved.
Review 51:Great Wi Fi and bed confort, quite room.
Review 52:Great spot for touring the area and the city. Helpful staff and most spoke English.
Review 53:room service
Review 54:Bathroom need renovation.
Review 55:Good breakfast.
Review 56:The location
Review 57:Excelent hotel
Review 58:Maybe ten euros for the garage at night is a bit too much
Review 59:Silent, clean and good location
Review 60:Breakfast was just average.
Review 61:The room and the bed was comfortable and clean. The garden was great. The parking was convenient.
Review 62:Hotel photos do not reflect the reality, and the main photo has nothing to do with the hotel. Broken blinds, paint peel from the walls. Partially renovated, but finished handle. Dirty balcony and shutters. Two refrigerators, but does not work neither. I can not use the fan in the bathroom. Worn furniture. Breakfast is poor. No vegetable, juice diluted with water. Very poor food and daily uniform of choice.
Review 63:Works well conditioned.
Review 64:The hotel pictures in booking.com are deceptive - the first pictures of the beautiful house with a court are NOT the hotel, but the adjacent event house, belonging to the hotel. The house where the guest stay is desperately in need for renovation. The most grief to us gave the built-in hairdryers in the bathrooms, which in numerous rooms seem to have their bearings worn out, causing them to make extremely loud noise when operated. We had to listen a concert of them every morning, as different hair-dryers in different rooms/locations went on (starting from 6AM... every day!!!). Booking.com lists the rooms as "Sound proof/Schallisolierung" which we definitely cannot confirm. Although the hotel has roughly 20 free parking slots available, they are shared with the event house next door and in case there is an event going on, finding a free place is difficult.
Review 65:Although we booked a simple double room, we received a huge suite with bedroom, living room, bathroom and balcony. As driving a car in Palermo was in our opinion more than little scary, luckily there is a nearby bus stop, which allowed us to reach Palermo center in roughly 30 minutes. The staff was friendly and tried to help any way possible (except cleaning maid, who once just barged into our room a second after the first knock).
Review 66:Wifi connection was lost every minute. The receptionist had to reset the router constantly (and they knew themself that the wifi was terrible). For such a large hotel we would have suspected a better connection. Room was big, but all the window shutters were broken so we had only sunlight through one part of the window. Toilet would not flush properly.
Review 67:Breakfast was good (bread, yoghurt, fruit, croissants, cheese and salami). Nice staff.
Review 68:not the building in the picture.. its next to it and it like a premier inn
Review 69:great if you need to be within 15 mins of the airport or 10 mins into the town centre..and ok for a nights stay
Review 70:There are no internet in rooms. The restaurant for dinner is horrible, the restaurant room is smelly. Frozen, tasteless food unwise prices. Hotel rooms at real in a different building than the photo. Room facilities are very worn.
Review 71:Beautiful garden. HOTEL easy to find in Palermo. The rooms are spacious. Breakfast good. Staff have good english language skills.
Review 72:Seemed to be geared up for mass coach parties or business customers. Room was a bit tired. Would have been great if screens were fitted on the windows for the Mozzies.
Review 73:The old part of the building was lovely. Reception staff were excellent and extremely helpful
Review 74:My bathroom was a little cramped.
Review 75:I was after a comfortable hotel with parking, conveniently situated for exploring Palermo, and this hotel fitted the bill. You can catch a bus from the end of the road into the city centre. There's also a good selection of local shops. The hotel staff were helpful with directions and local info. The breakfast buffet was the best I had during my trip to Sicily. The hotel restaurant served tasty food in the evening, but the menu was limited. NB, other restaurants in the vicinity are few and far between.
Review 76:Bathroom shower small and mildew shower
Review 77:Nice 2 bedroom room Large rooms with balcony Safe in room Very good breakfast buffet Quieter location just outside of town Parking free ad on site
Review 78:It's not an easy place to find without GPS since it is located in the suburbs, not figuring in Palermo city centre maps. This place also organizes some events (weddings, for example), which can make it difficult to find a free parking place.
Review 79:Our room was a very nice surprise, with lot of space and modern details (it has, for instance, a bathtub in the middle of the room). Breakfast had a nice variety. The receptionist was helpful. It has private parking (although not surveilled). The (free) wi-fi worked well.
Review 80:Little acces gate in to the yard closed after 22.00 so I have to go another, longer, acces way.
Review 81:I have booked 3 star room but I have stayed at 4 star accommodation because of technical problem.
Review 82:The service in the restaurant was very slow as only 1 member of staff on duty. Hotel slightly further from Palermo centre than expected.
Review 83:Lovely big room. Great food in the hotel restaurant. Beautiful breakfast room and good buffet breakfast choice. Very nice setting in general
Review 84:The room was impressively design -y but we could have done with a bit less style and a bit more functionality - bedside lights you could actually read by and hooks for bath towels. Although there were 2 wifi networks, the wifi only worked reliably in the hotel reception area.
Review 85:Ideal if you don't want to take a car into Palermo. There is secure parking and nearby buses go take you into the city. Lovely gardens to relax in. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Review 86:As the hotel is set back from the one way road, I totally missed the entrance to the parking area on my first attempt to find the hotel. Some additional signage (on the narrow road) would assist guests to find the hotel.
Review 87:The room we were allocated was well appointed and very clean. Breakfast was more than adequate. Although the rooms are located on the sides and rear to the quandrangle and there are large blocks of flats on the side of the hotel, we didn't consider this invasive. Approx 5km from the centre, it was great base from which to visit the region.
Review 88:Free WiFi was not available in our room (despite the promise). We had to go to the reception area to use it.
Review 89:Location was good outside the main city. Bus at end of street to city centre. Staff friendly and helpful and spoke good English. This was an upmarket hotel for a very good price. Palermo city sights are a must. Also good for day trip to Agrigento.
Review 90:Room was very dark, due to shutters broken(as they were in all rooms. You had to have the light on all day. Not a great view from bedroom.d
Review 91:Breakfast was excellent. Nice garden and surroundings.big room.
Review 92:Main photo od website - this restaurant, no hotel. The beds were not very good. Wi-fi works only at reception.
Review 93:Good breakfast, helpful staff, garden. We recommend please quiet romms on the garden.
Review 94:The garden and the spaciousness of our family room. The staff were very helpful when we locked the keys in the car boot. Good restaurant
Review 95:Paid 63.50 euros a night and felt I had better service in other hotelsin Sicily. The fridge was not working, the plug got stuck in the sink,we changed room the following day and then ther was no wifi.Disappointing but perhaps the price was good for Palermo. Did not feelservice to customer was priority. Felt I was causing hassle. However theperson at breakfast was most helpful.
Review 96:High rise flats surrounding. The fact that the bar was un-manned and sothe lounge and outside seating were not used.O.K For coach tours for astopover but as we were there for a week it was rather boring in theevenings, and as it took two separate buses and getting on for an hour toget into the town centre and driving in Palermo is scary we would haveliked something better,Restaurant food was not brilliant and veryexpensive,No information about where to go or what to do was offered-noleaflets etc.Not really a holiday venue, more conference, business andcoach tour stopovers.
Review 97:The gardens surrounding the motel were nice and the lounge and outdoorseating both covered and uncovered
Review 98:Nothing really wrong, just decor a little tired. We had a huge suitre at noi extra cost. Hard tolocate as down narrow street and entrance pillar just says hotel, but not which one, just look for the impressive palace which is the restaurant and your there. In a good part of town. Well placed if driving West, but a lot of busy City traffic to get through if going East as you have to go through the Town..
Review 99:Great Restaurant. Limited choice but everything including wine was of a high standard. Staff attentive but not overbearing, just right.
Review 100:the quality of the evening meals was very poor, pre prepared ,reheated food will not do. The bar was also a problem as it was never open.,
Review 101:comfortable rooms, clean, helpfull staff, a reasonable price. Gardens and lounge facilities outdoor are excellent
Review 102:The location was just a little far for walking to points of interest.
Review 103:All services were excellent and in particular the front desk staff. The front desk staff was not only friendly and helpful but she was able to communicate with us extremely well and was most helpful with our sightseeing selections. If I owned a hotel, I would hire this lady.
Review 104:Wi-fi works only at lobby and not even very well, found it very difficult to get a working connection. They should make it a priority to have a solid wifi service in all rooms.
Review 105:Good value for money. Clean and decent standard. Nice setting in an old palace/villa in a quiet corner with some green areas around. Otherwise in the middle of the city with lots of appartment blocks around
Review 106:We had to drive to downtown Palermo.
Review 107:Very nice and safe set-up, we had two rooms with six people. The parking was secure and the breakfast extensive with an exception of the frowning staff in the dining room. The women at the front desk were very friendly and recommended a yummy restaurant down the street that we went to both nights of our stay.
Review 108:The photo implies that the hotel is isolated, it is in fact stuck in themiddle of apartment blocks so although some rooms have nice views of thegarden, ours didn'T.
Review 109:We had a good dinner in the restaurant and the buffet breakfast was alsoexcellent. Good access to public transport.
Review 110:Noise from the construction works, just at our bedroom window. They should warn about it ! WiFi works just in the reception zone, not in the room.
Review 111:Public area in front of the restaurant and the gardens where the rooms are.
Review 112:The room was like little appartment without kitchen, but we had feeling like in a dorm in terms of cleanliness and comfort. Our room screamed for renovation, especially the bathroom. Having shower was a bit challenge and afterwards all bathroom was flooding.
Review 113:We stayed there 1 night after arriving in Trapani, so we choosed this hotel because of location, price and parking possibility. It was very easy to find. Anyway the best thing here was the breakfast in a very nice place and with big choice (biggest if compairing to other 3 places we stayed in Sicily). Not far from hotel (by car) you can find big Auchan food store to upload before Sicily trip. Definitely budget hotel and you got what you`ve paid for.
Review 114:The hotel is noisy. The presentation of the hotel as being in a park is misleading as it is almost surrounded by appartment buildings. The beds were not very good and the bathroom needs a makeover--it is along time since I have seen a standalone shower without a mixer tap!
Review 115:The rooms were a good size and nicely decorated. The hotel restaurant was a pleasant bonus-creative and well presented food at reasonable prices. The location is good but see negatives.
Review 116:Loved that it was just outside the city limits with safe parking . We could walk down the street to restaurants without having to take the car. Great hotel, breakfast was more than adequate and the staff very helpful and pleasant.
Review 117:The staff on reception were not particularly friendly and the overflowparking arrangements were initially difficult to follow due to poorinstructions. A small map would have been helpful! There was noinformation in the room about the hotel facilities and few signsindicating where the various facilities were. If these matters wereaddressed, I would recommend the hotel.
Review 118:The rooms were spacious and well designed. The dinner menu wasinteresting and the food was good.
Review 119:Breakfast could have been a little Better. Coffee pot in the room would have been nice. But overall it was lovely.
Review 120:I loved the the shower. Dinner there was nice. Good food and wine.
Review 121:The front gates where locked after 10:pm One needed to ring buzzer INODER to get in .
Review 122:The rooms that we stayed where very nice I was very pleased with it especially the bathroom the shower it self was very nice . However I would recommend the management team to put coffe makers in the rooms as a standard item . For those who travel from places like the USA we like to have a cup of coffe while in our room without getting up so early to try to make it for breakfast .
Review 123:Breakfast coffee and wi fi need improving.
Review 124:Car parking available, good for people with their own transport. Friendly atmosphere, nice grounds. Value for money.
Review 125:The only thing missing were hooks in the bathroom to hang the wet towels.
Review 126:Great location away from the centre of the city but still easy to get to by car, also only a short drive to Mondello and the Isola delle Femmine. Fantastic value for money.
Review 127:The hotel is located quit far from beaches Mondello And Sferracavallo. Buses go to Sferacavallo more often than to Mondello. It would be better if You rent a car or motorcycle.
Review 128:We were surprised by comfort and modern design of room. There is beautifull garden in the hotel. We could use parking for our bicycles free.
Review 129:Definitely worth the money! excellent stay. We got a 2 room apartment for merely nothing. Air conditioning made a huge difference. Breakfast too was very very good.
Review 130:The hotel is very nice. Breakfast is delicious. Situated not very close to the center of the city, but we got a car then it was okay. We like the hotel a lot. Stuff is very friendly.
Review 131:The dinner menu in the hotel restaurant was very poor. The hotel has anice bar in the garden what would be suitable for serving dinner, but itstill do in a simple over cooled room. Every evening while we were inthe hotel it gave home exclusive ceremony in its other garden servedtipical Sicilian foods, but this kind of foods were not selectable forus. So we had to be satisfied with the deficient menu.
Review 132:My wife and me spent four nights in a big room of this hotel with a 21mounth baby and a 16 years old daughter. The room was comfortable, thebathroom relative clean but a little bit worn. The hotel is situatedbetween the center of Palermo and Mondello beach. Both places can bereached easily by public transport. The ring road is close, so we easilycould leave Palermo when we took a trip in Sicily. The hotel has ownparking. It a little bit crowded but we every evening could find a placeto park the car. This hotel is a good choice to take trip around Palermoand Sicily.
Review 133:Somewhat distant from Palermo city centre - you have to change 2 busesand the last one is around 23:30 on holidays. We missed it and paid 25euro for taxi.
Review 134:Nice rooms, abundant breakfast, good location - quiet residential area, easy to reach by car and close to Mondello beach (~20 min by car)
Review 135:Nice option if you do not want to drive with you hired car through the chaotic center of Palermo, where you can't find parking anyway. The hotel has a private parking lot, which is free. The city center is 6 kilometers or a 30 minutes bus drive away. The breakfast buffet is served in a very nice building right next to the hotel, which in the evening is a luxury restaurant. The garden of the hotel is a nice place to relax after a tyring day in Palermo.
