Reviews for Hotel Val De La Cascade

Review 1:The rooms are very comfortabele although the bathrooms could use a serious renovation.

Review 2:Excellent restaurant, very Nice restaurant manager. Location very good.

Review 3:lots of fly's at breakfast shower door broken. pillows lumpy, bed sunk in middle. linen was not changed the three nights we were there. no tea making facilities.

Review 4:excellent location

Review 5:&Quot;in addition to which the rooms offer you your own private balconyand a relaxing bath. &Quot; Our room did NOT have a bath nor a balcony so big big minus for false advertising! Very simple rooms altogether and probably no emergency exits/routes either come to think of it. Simple breakfast and what seemed to be a limited amount too.

Review 6:Location, location, location! Wonderful small hide-out in the Ardennes.Romantic with few small houses and a river.

Review 7:I did not like the open stairwell up to to my room. Up four flights of stairs on the wet metal stairs with poor lighting. Also on some of the stairs the carpet was loose. Which made it very dangerous carrying bags up and down. I stumbled several times.

Review 8:The buffet breakfeast was very nice.

Review 9:Its a small place, quiet, nice restaurant, quite idyllic. Stayed there after the Grand Prix 2014. Good rooms, sleep like a baby after a long day and a few beers.

Review 10:There was no way to darken the kids' room, which is a big problemduring the long summer days. The maintenance was scarce (tv in kidsroom, table lamp and shower cabin were all broken). Our room was in abuilding separate from the main one with a dangerous road crossing. There was no personnel assigned to the reception so we had to wait quitelong for both check-in and check-out.

Review 11:The kids had a separate room with a tv (if only it had worked). Greatlocation just a couple of minutes walking from Plopsa entry. Thebathroom was equipped with a mega shower with radio, water jets, ambientlights. In our building there was a common terrace with chairs andtables. Good breakfast buffet with choice of meat and cheese, pastries, fresh bread, eggs and bacon. Watch out: the hotel has a small freeprivate parking, we didn't know this and initially parked our carright next to it where we had to pay eur3,50.

Review 12:There are a lot of flies, not just here but the whole area in general, it must have been the season (June) and the location being next to the river.

Review 13:Excellent staff and a fantastic location.

Review 14:The bathroom in the middle of the two bedrooms?

Review 15:The restaurant and the vicinity of the small cascade.

Review 16:transparent glass door or the room not many options for breakfast

Review 17:nice clean location

Review 18:- Breakfast - Family room: spacy, clean, pretty, usefull

Review 19:WiFi should be fast

Review 20:loved the location

Review 21:Great service, very friendly staff and wonderful location and room.

Review 22:Location ,value for money,parking

Review 23:prices for breakfast and in their restaurant are too high

Review 24:- excellent location, just a couple of hundreds meters from the Plopsaland - nice views and walk-around's

Review 25:The food at the restaurant was outstanding, it appeared mostly local. The room was perfect and the staff very friendly, helpful and patientsince I only spoke English and no French. I rented a mountain bike fromCoo Adventures just down the street from the Hotel and spent three daystouring around the area. Breathtakingly beautiful. It has been a dreamof mine since I was a teenager to visit this part of Belgium andeveryone at the Val de la Cascade helped insure I had a wonderful time.

Review 26:Unfortunately some guests can't refrain from destroying curtains. Chamber maid should report this so it can be fixed

Review 27:I was staying in the annexe what is completely renovated and super clean. In general personel I had to do with was very friendly, spoke dutch and French without any problem. Yes I think it's worse going back. People complaining now should see the shrink

Review 28:Het was een doordeweeks moment in maart - hou er rekening mee dat er dan nog veel toe is en het er redelijk doods is.

Review 29:De locatie is qua natuur prachtig, startpunt van veel wandelingen. Het restaurant beviel me goed, lekkere streekgerechten.

Review 30:Reception and restaurant both closed upon arrival at 1600 hours. Finally found a gentleman who understood slightly more english than our party of four understood French or German. Eventually we received our room keys and were told that the bar and restaurant (a major reason for booking with them) was closed, although they would open just for us. Not wanting to be the only one's there, we ate at a nearby pub instead, which had great food and a nice assortment of tap beers. At checkout we had to wait 15 minutes for someone who spoke enough english to process our payments. On the plus side, the rooms were spotless and on the large size for euro rooms. The bath was sufficient, with an actual shower door and unlimited hot water. Other options in the Stavelot area appeared to have been better choices for our group of four. Room rate seemed a little higher than average for what was provided.

Review 31:Off the beaten path.

Review 32:Sometimes was difficult to find someone at the reception and few peoplewere able to speak english. The "light" walls let us to hear voices andmusic from the neighbors.

Review 33:The Place and the room were very good. Beautiful flowers everywhere. TheStaff so kind and helpful.

Review 34:The level of service provided was very poor. Despite the hotel being half empty initially they didn't comply with our room request ie a quiet room on the top floor with a balcony = a ground floor room with no balcony next to the loading bay of the hotel next door. Eventually they relented and gave us one of the 3 empty rooms on the top floor, but only because a helpful waiter got himself in trouble for doing so! It took us almost an hour to find a member of staff who could check us in ( 17.30 ). We were put in an annex, and the main hotel was closed and locked after breakfast until about 5pm. The Internet advertised never functioned. The excuse given was that Belgian Telecom was out for the entire area - this was proven not true by the restaurant next door ie they lied! As this hotel is 10 miles from the Spa F1 circuit they were charging over £185 per night for a tiny room. Normally a hotel of this quality would cost around £60 - £70 a night ie they want to profiteer but not provide the services or the facilities. The area is nice, but avoid this hotel - it's a ripoff

Review 35:Our room was a bit smaller than expected (but had all the facilities required for a 3 star hotel). The bathroom had a bit of a smell.. but was clean. I was a bit dissapointed when we went for coffee in the evening on the terrace (warmed terrace??). Our waitress was like the speed of light -which is good, but sometimes this can be too fast.. this resulted in having our drinks after our coffee. The cognac we ordered came with icecubes, served in a small glass rather than warmed in a hand size glass.. and a barista´s nightmare; cappuccino is served with whipped cream rather than foamed milk... :( - but this is just personal preference I guess...

Review 36:Although we staid just one night, we had a very nice experience in this cosy family hotel, located by the waterside. It has sufficient parking facility, although day-tourists often park their cars there as well.. Overall it has a very romantic atmosphere, with flowers all around... Our room was in a seperate block (´en dependance´). My request for non smoking was accepted without having to ask twice. Service is very fast yet friendly, always there to help you out. These people work very hard to please their clients! The breakfast buffet is sufficient and there is possibility to bake your own eggs or boil them. Also there´s a possibility to make fresh orange juice.

Review 37:Hotel rooms (main building) a bit basic but all that one needs included; clean & tidy.

Review 38:Good friendly hotel, excellent location with lovely flowers, rivers etc. Especially attractive for families with children by day but good & quiet in the evenings & overnight.

Review 39:The owners/proprietors are on site & involved, they are a proffessional couple who have great staff. Excellent location especially if you are traveling with young family.

Review 40:Rooms smelt slightly musty, the food in the hotel was very expensive and the breakfast wasnt cheap but was a good variety plus when it came to paying the bill it took half and hour and nearly made us late

Review 41:Clean, good location, freindly staff

Review 42:A little bit pricey but ok! Breakfast also pricey.

Review 43:Nice location. Rooms are ok and all that is needed is there. Balconies are nice to to sit and unwind and take in the view.

Review 44:Travelling with partner and friends for a trackday at nearby Spa. Great location and a little disappointed that we could not take full advantage of the wonderful area that surrounded the hotel. It is very picturesque being right next to a river. We stayed in the annex which is just across the road. Our room was on the top floor and was modern clean and had all the facilities we could have wanted. The climb up the stairs would not suit anyone with mobility problems as there is no lift. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. We eat in the dining room for breakfast and evening meal and this was of an excellent standard. We all left with happy memories of the hotel and wished we could have explored the area more.

Review 45:Location is amazing, pretty close to legendary Spa track.

Review 46:Had an unusual situation arise during my stay and the staff was extremely helpful in making sure I had the assistance I needed.

Review 47:Too far away from the city

Review 48:The view and location

Review 49:lack of a grocery store in the direct vicinity

Review 50:the location was extremely good, lots of walking routes, breakfast was very good

Review 51:Nothing, it's perfect!

Review 52:Love this hotel, an amazing place, great rooms, very comfy bed, perfect location, great views.

Review 53:Welcoming, friendly, joyful and well equipped to keep kids busy

Review 54:Perfect location

Review 55:comfortable and clean room, friendly staff

Review 56:Too expensive for what you get - the room is too small, the bed was too old. Funny smell. Wi-Fi not working.

Review 57:The location was good. Clean.
