Reviews for Ella Jungle Resort

Review 1:No hot water. Also, as much as we wanted to get close to nature, rooms could do with fewer bugs.

Review 2:The staff service is great. The cable car ride into the resort adds a nice fun factor.

Review 3:only cold water facilities, brrrrr. very long waitingtimes till food was delivered. you should love deep, wild and dark jungle.

Review 4:veeeeeery friendly staff, great food, the groundactivities, livemusic at night

Review 5:Cold showers with muddy river water. In our deluxe room we had rats get in at night, destroyed part of our expensive camera bag. Told the manager and she said that happens. With no refund we left after the first night. Disappointing start to our holiday!

Review 6:Spectacular location. Quirky accommodation. Staff were very friendly.

Review 7:The resort is at the best location but the property is old and maintenance seems to have been ignored. The bathroom door did not close...not only bathroom and toilets are shared..there is no concept of privacy.. There is one set of toilet/bathroom for 2 floors of cottages and the upper floor guests can easily see inside the toilet and bathroom as there is no roof...the door itself either didn't work or was too low anyway to provide any privacy.. The turned out to be real jungle experience. There is definitely no aircon and not even fan. We were provided with a small air cooler and it can only blow air in a limited area so it was very humid in the room..making it impossible to move around unless the cooler fan direction is towards you. Do not expect a manager to greet or meet you during your stay..as there is none..we stayed for 4 nights and did not meet anyone from the management.. Poor staff is left to manage all the guests on their own....the owner seems to he happy with the fact that he procured a great location and the resort is always almost full...so keeping the guest happy is not a concern...only bringing them to the resort is enough..

Review 8:The location is amazing and true to its name it is a jungle resort..water stream behind your cottage..treks around..and many asventure sports agailable to do at the resort itself. The staff is all local and really helpful. We were there to celebrate my birthday and they arranged it by the waterfall stream side..it was just perfect. Special mention of Chaminda..Kumar and Dhananjay.. Many activities at a reasonable cost provided to satisfy the adventure junkies and for long stay guests..there is almost no charge.. There is no particular restaurant and they arrange food at different locations during breakfasts and lunch..and it feels great to enjoy the view every time at a different place...nice concept...

Review 9:Imagine how it would feel like to experience a massive eco space of 300 acres filled with greenery, wildlife, 7 waterfalls, paddy fields, coffee and avocado cultivations and many more, along with a 3 kilometer long river with crystal clear waters filled with fish? For me it was a heaven. I was privileged enough to reconnect to my roots. Get away from all that hustle and bustle, the traffic jams, the pollution and all the noise that usually surrounds every one of us. Ella Jungle Resort is the best eco resort and the most beautiful eco property I have ever visited my entire life. When I arrived at the ‘Glass House’, an awe inspiring very well architectures sitting space which has mountain bicycles for rental, I was wondering what to expect. The moment I arrived, a couple of smiling faces enthusiastically greeted me with their hospitality. Directed me to my seat, where I was waiting for the four wheel drive to arrive to take me to my destination. I was really excited to see what it had in offer. The driver, Rathnayake, who drove me and a couple of other guests further inside the jungle joyfully gave details about the property and successfully managed to leave a good impression. My journey started from there onwards, and my two nights stay at Ella Jungle Resort was ever pleasurable. It was quite dark when I arrived at the property. Sudath, one of the staff members of the property once we arrived at the parking lot handed over some fluorescent lights to guide us through the next couple of minutes of the walk which would take us to the entrance of the hotel. I could hear the sound of the ever flowing waters whilst I took a walk down the trek laid in front of us. He always ensured the safety of the few of us who were walking and whilst giving all the support needed in carrying our luggage downhill (not that we had to carry any ourselves). Plenty of staff members were available at the parking lot to make sure we travel light.

Review 10:It was way too much money though, the accommodation and food is not worth as much as it costs, especially the food

Review 11:It was amazing and beautiful and unique and an unforgettable experience

Review 12:nothing!

Review 13:This is an unbelievable great hotel! A small heaven we found in Sri Lanka! Our room was next to the waterfall and we can hear the water sound while sleeping. Food was vegetarian and very health, delicious! Matter of fact, most of the staffs are vegetarians and are very nice kind peoples!! Really wish we could go back again and stay for at least a week. 非常棒,就像一個世外桃源,必須必須住的一個地方!

Review 14:Considering the price: ok, it's not cheap, but i guess all the places with with special locations in sri lanka are a bit overpriced and this one is way better than all the other places where we've been.

Review 15:This is definitely the best place we've stayed in Sri Lanka.Located in a wonderful place surrounded by beautiful landscape. We've stayed in the standard rooms and could not have enjoyed more. The view from the room is stunning, the room itself is beautiful and super comfortable. I was a bit sick that day and the staff brought me the breakfast to my room. We had big squirrels passing on our balconies and we could hear the monkeys and birds during the day. The staff was excellent, super nice, available for all our requests and spoke english perfectly. They received us with a delicious ginger tea and the food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) was very good. They took us for a small trekking around the place where we saw a beautifull forest and waterfalls.. But note, this is not a place for everybody. If you dont fancy trecking a lot than you might not like the fact that you have to do a small walk on the jungle to enter and leave the resort. If you like to fill your days with activities then maybe you won't like to be here because this is a place to relax and just enjoy the nature. If you like luxurious rooms with all the confort possible (tv, internet, shampoo, hot water and silence) that this is not the place for you as the rooms are open to the exterior and you will hear the water and animals all the time, the toilets are outside the rooms and very basic, the shower is cold and open to the exterior, which means that if it rains, it will rain on your shower as ws well. and you won't have wi-fi on your room :) I absolutely loved it and for me this is the perfect concept for a resort but I understand that it might be too much for some people. I would say it's ideal for couples and families with small children. I definitely want to come back.

Review 16:Ella Jungle Resort is a place where you can really forget about the constant reminder of time and lose yourself in nature. The resort is integrated with the Kirindi River and lush landscape, which helps one to realize our intimate connection to nature. I would highly recommend this resort if you want to immerse yourself in true beauty and allow the great energy to flow through you.

Review 17:The location is its greatest advantage... but also its weakest point. It takes you approximately 40 minutes to reach the road... and approximately 65 minutes to reach the nearest village.

Review 18:Great location, great experience, friendly staff all doing there best to make your stay successful. Very beautiful! A Jeep takes you down the jungle as far as possible, than you need to walk to reach the resort --> a real jungle experience!!

Review 19:We went there bit late, so we stayed at Ella Jungle Inn, which has a tree house and deluxe rooms, we stayed at Deluxe room in-which we woke up with a nice panoramic view of Mountain range. Ms. Lohini accompany with us to Jungle RESORT following day, it is situated in a jungle surrounded by mountains. We had a nice time there with adventure events. They have the Sri Lanka #1 cable car too. Hope to go back there with a team. Highly recommend for a different experience. https://www.facebook.com/roshanamallawaarachchi/media_set?set=a.794489417242004.1073741834.100000428581660&type=1

Review 20:very bad Air conditioning

Review 21:the glass cottage on the river staff

Review 22:Long bumpy 4 wheel drive ride from main road followed by 300 metre walk down a steepish slope. But I should have read the blurb a bit better and realised this is largely what it is about. They are building a cable car which will make things easier. Also be aware it is 10 miles from Ella.

Review 23:Good if you want a 'jungle' experience at the bottom of a deep valley miles from anywhere.

Review 24:The food was not so good and mealtimes were a bit unorganised and seemed understaffed. Definately overpriced once tax, service charge was added

Review 25:The staff were great, the location and accomadation also great

Review 26:Staff had issues with English. It's in the middle of the woods so expect a hike.

Review 27:Our room was right next to a waterfall. Quite gorgeous. It's lovely place. I enjoyed everything. Really unique experience.

Review 28:- Bad Service - Waiting 2H for the 4/4 car to pick us at the jungle inn to go to the hotel - Lack of Management (the poor local supervisor tries his best to handle all the problems but cannot decide) - Crazy prices for activities : 25$ per person for 50mn treck to a nearby waterfall

Review 29:- The location in middle of nature - Excellent potential

Review 30:The english of the staff, just as the proactive service was poor. You have to go to the jungle Inn to eventually go to the jungle resort, that was not really clear from the website.

Review 31:The deluxe room was of really great quality. And just sitting by the riverside in the backyard was more than enough to enjoy a person. Also a walk to a swimming place with a waterfall was really nice. Just like dinner in the evening.

Review 32:The management of the place was fairly hapless, with a few staff running around and everyone else standing around. The charge for trek is high - possibly negotiable? The whole place although quite spectacular is not well maintained. The food was variable. Be warned the hike in is short but quite technical.

Review 33:The camp is set next to a beautiful river, with riverine forest and surrounded by jungle covered hills. There are activities such as scrambling to find swimming pools by waterfalls and a zip line across the river. A good place for a couple of nights but no longer.

Review 34:The lights in the tent were a bit dim, but that is my only criticism

Review 35:I liked the remoteness of it. It really felt that we were in the middle of nowhere on our own

Review 36:Shared bathroom/toilet facilities. Wifi network mostly unoperational but actually helps cutting out of the world :)

Review 37:Arriving at night was an enchanting experience, the diner near the bonfire was particularly amazing.

Review 38:Not close to the road away from the road and one kilometer road is very bumpy Osi You need to walk on your feet, half a kilo in danger does not fit the slope of women and children

Review 39:Fits the likes of deforestation and mountaineering and young people in general, and athletes Heikknq

Review 40:the trekking to arrive

Review 41:the bungalows, the rstauration and the service

Review 42:Lack of clarity about distance from Ella and remoteness, even when we wrr

Review 43:Novelty. Lovely room (deluxe suite). Peaceful. Great views from our balcony
