Reviews for Hotel Ambasciatori

Review 1:The bathroom in the rooms are much smaller and more cramped than we have seen in many other European hotel properties. Shower enclosure is extremely !!! small.

Review 2:Location was great, but street noise is bad even though we were on 5th floor. Setting and layout of the building are very nice creating a great atmosphere.

Review 3:The room was very dated, the shower went from HOT HOT to cold cold water every few seconds. The street it is on is very noisy and loud at night and into the early morning.

Review 4:Good location but street is VERY noisy until very late at night and into early morning. The breakfast room on the roof top is very quaint. The staff was friendly.

Review 5:The hotel was very well appointed. The lift was a quaint little (max 3 persons) rattler, but worked well. I appreciated having double glazed double glass doors to the balcony that overlooked the main street. The rooftop bar was fabulous.

Review 6:The hotel is very close the Greek ruins. The room and the food at the restrauant were excellent. The staff was very helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

Review 7:- fantastic, very helpful staff who showed us amazing place for street food. Once more thx a lot! - nice terace with picturesque view - rich breakfast - good location

Review 8:First of all, the fact that the lobby opened on to the street was a plus. This may seem like a little thing, but I found as an elderly woman traveling alone that getting my self and my luggage through a heavy door and up stairs to an elevator (as I had to in another case) was trying to say the least. But more than that, the staff spoke English (my Italian is minimum) the room was spacious and clean, and the roof-top restaurant gave a spectacular view of Palermo.

Review 9:My room was exactly near the stairs going up to the restaurant so a bit the noise. Otherwise the noise from outside nothing as triple glazing

Review 10:The location was perfect right in the center, and a drop away from train/bus station. The breakfast was great and the view from the roof s restaurant excellent

Review 11:The air conditioning didn't work very well and it was very hot in the room.

Review 12:However, this hotel is in a great location and, best of all, it has a fabulous rooftop restaurant with a stunning view, excellent food and wonderful service. I would definitely stay there again.

Review 13:The lift was a bit scary

Review 14:The restaurant was terrific, very generous and some interesting combinations. The breakfast was varied each day and was also very generous . The location is close to the station

Review 15:No double bed (two put together) and balcony opened onto main street (Via Roma). No room to enjoy it at all and noisy, busy street. As for a back room!

Review 16:terrace bar and rooftop view large room

Review 17:It is a bit dated and we had difficulty unlocking the door of our room. Also the lift is ancient and, if the doors are not properly shut by the previous user then the lift will not come...

Review 18:The location - 5 minute walk from bus/train stations in the historic centre. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. The 7th floor terrace bar/dining area was great with terrific views

Review 19:The bathroom was rather small, with no window, and kind of old. The lift is old and noisy too, but hey, at least there's one.

Review 20:Smack in the center of Palermo, within walking distance from the main attractions, but still a quiet and comfortable building. It helps to know that they have two free parking spots right next to the hotel, where we were able to leave our car (no reservation possible, though). Helpful, friendly staff who often recommends you the best sightseeing spots in and out of town. Our shower was not working properly when we checked in, but they immediately fixed it for us once we notified them. Amazing roof-top terrace where to admire Palermo and the surrounding mountains while sipping a cocktail, or enjoying a nice aperitivo.

Review 21:The lift is a little scary but adds character and charm!

Review 22:Brilliant location, very central and a short walk to markets, restaurants, shops and beautiful churches. The roof terrace has an incredible view and it is definitely worth having an aperitivo there before dinner.

Review 23:The room was really small and a bit old-fashioned with a window facing on other windows. Therefore, it was dark inside all the time without fresh air. The bathroom was also tiny. If you are not in a good fit, it can be challenging to take shower. Breakfast was poor, but probably it was not the fault of this hotel, because I also stayed in other hotels in Sicily and faced with the same.

Review 24:The view from the roof terrace is amazing. It’s probably the best view on Palermo. Staff were helpful and friendly. I arrived earlier than the check-in time, and I was checked-in without any problem. The Hotel is very well located, not far from the rail / bus stations, and the main places to visit. Wi-Fi worked well.

Review 25:We chose this hotel because of the restaurant with the beautiful views. We were disappointed that we were not warned that the restaurant needed booking for the night we stayed as there was a festival so fully booked. We thought we would at least go and have a drink there but found that it was opening later than usual so couldn't even do that.

Review 26:Nice hotel, clean, good rooms, air conditioned and good location. Staff was friendly. Lovely breakfast!

Review 27:We liked the stylish room and the large bathroom and shower. The food in the roof top restaurant was very good although the service was erratic. However the fabulous views more than made for up that. The lift has to be seen to be believed!

Review 28:Spectacular terrace with a great view of the town. Great variety of healthy and tasty breakfast. Excellent location near all the sights and 5mins walk from the train/bus station! :) really enjoyed our stay

Review 29:The unfriendly staff who made you feel like a burden more than a guest - especially the reception staff- please send them to charm school!

Review 30:Location is excellent - all the must-see sights within walking distance

Review 31:We stayed here for five nights and the location was really central. Could hear barely any road noise from our room through our stay. Breakfast was lovely and the view was great from the rooftop. Staff were friendly and spoke good English, the restaurant offered amazing food for a really good price. Would defiantly stay here if your looking for a break at Palermo.

Review 32:I've been in this hotel 3-4 years ago and I remember things were looking better at that time. Our room was extremely noisy, due to thin and bad window and balcony doors. Elevator can cause a trauma, it's very old and noisy. Breakfast is rather poor as for 4 stars hotel, only eggs and bacon (which isn't really a bacon), sometimes cold ham. Some random fruits but nothing fancy. Few cakes. Pot coffee, but you can order cappuccino. Breakfast staff slow and not very attentive. We got room with balcony, but it was so full of cracks that we were slightly afraid of going there at all.

Review 33:Location is good, staff is trying to be nice and helpful. Room was spacious, with proper double bed, clean and nice bathroom. Free Internet access (but slow and loosing signal). Roof garden views are amazing.

Review 34:Walking distance from the station. The reception & restaurant staff were very accommodating. Breakfast on the terrace was wonderful. Fresh fruit, cereals, freshly made eggs & bacon, homemade yogurt. The view from the terrace overlooking Palermo was superb. Walking distance from shops & lots of restaurants.

Review 35:cheese for the breakfast is squeaking.. wifi is week. rooms do not have the best view but the terrace makes up for it. wouldn't think of it as a 4 star hotel but still, stars are not everything: they did the most important things right and that should be enough.

Review 36:very friendly and clean, with an amazing terrace view and a great choice of music. close to many places of interest -we walked everywhere even to the catacombe. so.. wonderful place to stay.

Review 37:we were told that the taxi from the airport was no charge after you contacted them, unfortunately there was a charge and it was more than the original price quoted of 30 euros costing 40 instead bad start to the holiday.

Review 38:The hotel was very convenient for the sights of the city and it was so good for catching the train to other parts of sicily and the airport.

Review 39:Room and bathroom very spacious. Fantastic views over Palermo from rooftop restaurant and breakfast area. Breakfast very nice with good selection of local cakes and pastries.

Review 40:Tv did not work. Sign on hairdryer saying it did not work. Bar fridge had been taken away for repair. To be fair, did get another room after complaining which was ok

Review 41:Lack of fresh fruit at breakfast. Terrible smell in bathroom which wasn't dealt with satisfactorily when I reported it.

Review 42:Rooftop breakfast area is excellent. Good location close to station. Good sized rooms.

Review 43:the shower has mold, it was hot like crazy fan didn't work nor did the next room. We had food for my son.and milK but there was no fridge nor a microwave had to trash our staff. no parking but it's ok paid for a garage €30 for 2 days.

Review 44:Location is great. Elevator is pretty cool. The African guy who assist is awesome.

Review 45:Staff were pleasant but could have been more helpful eg with getting luggage up stairs. Furnishings and fittings in room are in need of updating.

Review 46:Location convenient to central station, fabulous rooftop bar with views over Palermo, building and fittings full of character

Review 47:Attitude of one of the staff on terrace restaurant. She was very stand offish and not very helpful.

Review 48:Only stayed for one night everything was fine. The roof terrace restaurant is definitely a must for the wonderful vista over Palermo.

Review 49:This hotel was everything we wanted for our first Siciliann experience. Francesca at the Front Desk gave us explicit instructions about what to see and what to avoid. The restaurant on the rooftop gave us complimentary Prosecco for our 35th wedding anniversary and the dinner was fabulous. Ask for the grilled calamari! Room was clean and comfortable, but shower is small. If you want something sleek, modern, and huge, you'll want to stay somewhere else. It is Sicilian charm at its finest.

Review 50:- Nicely renovated hotel - Very quiet due to double double glazing on windows and doors facing Via Roma - Huge rooms with tasteful furnishing - Great location for market and many main attractions - Helpful staff

Review 51:Rooms are old and very dated, dark, worn out. Breakfast was adequate; self squeeze orange juice - impracticable and probably unhygienic, guests had to stand and wait for a table (inside) to become free.

Review 52:Roof top terrace, convenient walk from main train station

Review 53:The staff were so considerate and helpful, not only giving advice on places to go, but scheduling appointments and even driving me to various places to ensure I was able to accomplish everything I needed to during my short stay. Wonderful views and breakfast- a fantastic hotel!!

Review 54:Curtains that drag artistically onto the floor. Lethal as they are too close to the bed and it is easy to get caught up in them. I ended up sprawled on the floor.

Review 55:Very helpful staff, clean and functional room.

Review 56:While the breakfast was wonderful, and dinner was nice, it was offset by unsmiling surely restaurant staff. Maybe it was just Easter!

Review 57:The very friendly reception, cheerful room staff and extraordinary rooftop view from the 6th floor terrace make this a definite repeat choice. The rooms were clean and simple. The charming old school lift brought a smile on every trip. Located a short walk from the bus station and the surprisingly good tourist bus service.

Review 58:Heat a bit hard to adjust, so room often on the very warm side.

Review 59:Super comfortable large bed, lots of hot water. Funky elevator. Beautiful rooftop restaurant terrace wirh view over old Palermo.

Review 60:The only complaints: I wish they have one more litter bin inside the room (apart the one is bathroom) and some hooks for hanging my coat near the door.

Review 61:one word: perfect...for everything!!! nice staffs, excellent location, amazing view from the rooftop restaurant where you will have your breakfast, nice and spacious rooms, very clean, very comfortable bed, I was so looking forward to going back for rest, ask for Room 509 where we stayed, you could have a nice view of the roofs and an old church. Superb for the value.

Review 62:We had problems with the wifi all the time

Review 63:The hospitality of the people at the hotel was great! The terrace beautiful and the view of the city was amazing

Review 64:There was not a welcoming feeling about this hotel, the desk staff require an upgrade in public relations.

Review 65:Reasonably close to Central train & bus station which provides easy access to airport & other destinations.

Review 66:The only complaint was the bed was a bit hard. Otherwise a good experience.

Review 67:The staff was very helpful. Room was clean & comfortable. Food was very good & kitchen was clean. Overall a very good experience.

Review 68:Ugly paintings on the walls, noisy works outside in the morning, no fresh milk for breakfast, pity! the invoice: price higher at the initial agreement.

Review 69:The size of the bedroom, the terrace upstairs, the location in the town, the discreetness of the staff, a good cleanness, I shall return.

Review 70:Only a small thing but wifi was very hit and miss, but that's it!

Review 71:Loved the rooftop bar/restaurant. The rooms were spacious and well decorated. The bed was huge! Great place!

Review 72:Near central train station which served by airport shuttle. Pleasant rooms, excellent staff. Beautiful terrace with great views of Palermo when having breakfast, drinks, or dinner. Convenient to many attractions

Review 73:Via Roma is a busy street and can be rather noisy throughout the night.

Review 74:Well appointed room. Lovely roof top restaurant - splendid views over rooftops towards mountains. Staff excellent. Wonderful position - handy for all major city centre sights and attractions plus Central Station etc.

Review 75:The hotel is quite old and the room was basic and drab. The elevator is out of an old black and white movie. Our view was of a building being remolded. Next trip we will try a different hotel.

Review 76:The desk staff was helpful and pleasant. The view of Palermo from the terrace is great and it was enjoyable having breakfast there each morning. The location is not too far from the bus/train station although we did not use it.

Review 77:Bed was hard.

Review 78:Breakfast was great. The views from the top terrace really is the selling point of this hotel, other than that..really wouldn't stay here again. Service at dinner was slow. Trying to organise shuttle transfers with hotel was a nightmare. Don't even bother...Thought it was going to work out cheaper to do it this way. Waited over 3 hrs, when we gave up and caught a cab. Disappointing as we lost valuable time.

Review 79:The hotel is in an excellent location if you want to explore the old Palermo. Most of the staff were very helpful. Breakfast is good and the roof restaurant gives a great view of the city. We really liked Palermo, and the location of the hotel helped. It is also close to the railway station.

Review 80:Small shower but that was the way in all the Sicilian hotels we stayed but thankful for at least having a private bath

Review 81:Easy access from central train station and other central attractions. Great view having breakfast on roof top terrace

Review 82:The breakfast is in the last floor which is only reachable by stairs... (two floors up). That was not a problem for me, but for my grandmother...

Review 83:Amazing view from the terrace. Very well located. Big room.

Review 84:The matress wasn't that comfortable and was 2 single ones pushed together.

Review 85:The beautiful breakfast terrace with views across the city and mountains beyond.

Review 86:Other hotel guests kept forgetting to close elevator doors which puts it temporarily out of service. Staff should make this very clear to guests on check in.

Review 87:Good location. Nice terrace with view over Palermo;lovely to enjoy breakfast/a drink there.

Review 88:WiFi signal was not available from our room which was a bit inconvenient since we relied on having a Internet access for restaurant & tourist info. WiFi was available on rooftop terrace. Elevator went as far as 5th floor and had to walk 2 additional flights to get to 7th floor rooftop terrace & restaurant; would be difficult for some and definitely not handicap accessible.

Review 89:Great rooftop terrace with incredible views, attentive staff, good breakfast selections, nice area for evening drinks. Room was clean but somewhat small, bed was comfortable, very quiet. Easy walkability from train station and to historic center. Small elevator a plus for getting luggage up 5 flights.

Review 90:We were surprised that we were charged over $50 for breakfasts and extra taxes when we thought it was included in the quoted nightly rate.

Review 91:The location was ideal for a tourist without a car.

Review 92:The room was stated as deluxe, but it did not feel deluxe at all. Basic, in fact. The bathroom was a great size and clean but the main room/bedroom was very small, dark and dull- not what you would expect when offered "deluxe". The rooftop restaurant was also very over priced.

Review 93:The rooftop restaurant has an incredible view and it is a great place to unwind when you first arrive.

Review 94:the elevator was different!! but I guess it wasn't designed for one so we should be grateful it's even there! also couldn't get a drink in the bar til 5pm!! showers are small

Review 95:rooms were spacious with little terrazzo breakfast areas fantastic terrazzo was fabulous - with a 360deg view VERY clean and quiet considering we faced Roma street

Review 96:very hard beds and pillows

Review 97:Roof top terrace was fantastic with its great view over the roof tops of Palermo. breakfast was good with lots of choices. Our room was very quiet no noise heard late at night and the location was great.

Review 98:There is only lift and it is a bit small but worked OK for our needs

Review 99:Loved the terrace restaurant for breakfast. Staff were generally very friendly and helpful. Room size for 2 single people was very good.

Review 100:Nothing

Review 101:Very helpful personnel. Clean, comfortable, large quiet room. Excellent breakfast on a terrace with a beautiful view of Palermo. Perfect location for visitors. Our special request was fulfilled. We had a perfect three day stay. Would go back without any hesitation.

Review 102:Location was perfect, very central. Rooms and the inside of the building were better than it seems in the pictures. View from the terrace was excellent. Good breakfast.

Review 103:Wifi very slow and kept cutting out.

Review 104:We chose this hotel for the terrace and it was perfect for evening drinks and dinner and views over the city at sunset. Location is easy 10 minutes walk to the bus and train station and handy to Cathedral, Teatro Mossimo, fabulous fresh markets. All staff very helpful especially with assistance to check in with our flights

Review 105:Rooftop restaurant service needs improvement.

Review 106:Located in heart of historic district. Large, clean room, nicely appointed. Spectacular view from rooftop bar/restaurant. Very helpful front desk staff.

Review 107:Big noisy group commandeering the rooftop when we arrived. Small cramped lift, only just big enough for 2 of us with suitcases.

Review 108:Nice room at the back. Quiet. Double shower! Rooftop terrace/restaurant Location.

Review 109:nothing really.

Review 110:Good location, close to train and bus terminal and walking distance to all places worth seeing. Friendly staff, good bed and bathroom with nice big shower and good size room. Air conditioning was very good and so was breakfast which was served on the roof top terrace. Nice hotel.

Review 111:Old, small and cranky lift. Lack of English speaking TV News channels, neither BBC World nor CNN, despite very many UK and US visitors.

Review 112:Roof top Restaurant and Bar. Very helpful front desk staff, especially when needing personal attention following street robbery. Convenient location for Rail and airport bus. Central location for restaurants and city sights within easy walking. Room services very good.

Review 113:1.The parking to drop off baggage and check-in is very limited in such a busy street so double parking is required but that seems to be the Sicilian way. 2. The lift whilst quaint is limited in capacity so a few trips may be needed.

Review 114:1.The rooms were spacious compared to other European hotels. 2.Eventhough the rooms we occupied were fronting the street the triple glass window shutters kept the rooms very quite. 3. The roof-top restaurant and cocktail bar has a fantastic view of the city and the meals we had were excellent.

Review 115:Rooms were large but basic. if you go with that in mind you will not be disappointed as it is the best value for money hotel I have ever stayed in.

Review 116:An exceptional hotel for the money with an amazing rooftop restaurant/bar/breakfast room over looking the old town. The location was fantastic with most sight seeing within walking distance. Rooms were clean and staff friendly.

Review 117:Room located on the street noisy. Not good sound isolation. Lift is very old and quite slow.

Review 118:Very nice restaurant on a terasse. Good location. Good service.Value for money

Review 119:Palermo is a great great city. No complaints about anything with this hotel. (we had travelled through Taormina, Syracuse, Noto, Trapani and Palermo and this place compared well with other places we stayed). High standard of accommodation in a good location on a major road - easy 5 min walking to train/bus station. It's on the edge of a great area for well priced places to eat and drink.... really lively. A lot of the lively streets and squares (5 min walk away) are in ruins - don't be put off by this. The people drinking in even the darkest alleys and squares are well behaved young people and families. The room was good with a fridge, good air con and good wifi connection. Excellent buffet breakfast which we paid 8 euros each for which was good value. The location on the terrace is special. A wide view across the rooftops of the city.

Review 120:Bed not very comfortable! Lift very antiquated!

Review 121:Best thing about this hotel is the view from the restaurant 'seven', which is an open air rooftop terrace. Spectacular at night. We had a lovely meal there, best gnocchi we have ever had. Breakfast served up there too. Good value clean hotel otherwise.

Review 122:Huge fixed shower head in a tiny shower cabin. I cannot stand those (personal quirk)! Balcony not the best for people who are afraid of heights. :-)

Review 123:Nice and romantic view from the terrace restaurant. We also got a room on a high floor with a balcony with an almost as nice view.

Review 124:Wifi didnt work in my room had to stand in passage. Area is a bit dodgy. Hotel is a bit Faulty Towers with turn of the century lift and decor to match. Only way up to restuarant is by stairs, no good for prams or disabilities.

Review 125:View from roof restuarant was awesome. Good basic hotel. close to rail. Staff were helpful both restuarant and front desk.

Review 126:We checked in around 9pm and the room was hot (over 30 degrees). Whywouldn't they turn the ac on ahead of time? The tiny ac worked hardto reduce the heat to sleepable level....maybe by 3am? The furniturewhile lovely antique, is dark and heavy. The lovely photos and commentsfor this hotel are mostly about the terrace restaurant. The reviewsshould be for the hotel rooms which were, in my opinion, fair, at best.

Review 127:Restaurant.

Review 128:The reception staff were reasonably efficient but not very friendly or particularly engaging. The room was quite ordinary but acceptable.

Review 129:The view from the roof terrace was very impressive and the bar and restaurant staff were helpful and friendly.

Review 130:This was a great hotel for a night in Palermo at the end of our stay in Sicily. It's very near the railway station and a short walk to the port and centre. The staff were helpful and friendly. We loved the old fashioned lift and quirky layout over 5 floors. The view from the roof terrace is truly spectacular and not to be missed!

Review 131:Room located along corridore leading up to terrace, made it a bit noisy. Don't consider the suite rated as deluxe. Fridge wasn't cold, but they made other arrangements for me to access.

Review 132:Location. Clean & comfy bed. Booked deluxe room, but as I was teavelling solo, they included breakfast at no extra cost.
