Reviews for B&B Conte Ruggero
Review 1:Tutti!!!!!!!!!! You could not find a better place to stay. The staff are wonderful people. The palace is magnificent. Marble and tile with very high [over 20 feet] beautifully painted fresco ceilings. Our room was so large that it had 4 beds and room for more. We had a balcony that looked out over Piazza Italia. I don't care how much $$$ you spend you will not stay in a more beautiful , comfortable, friendly, and unique place. We had originally booked for 2 nights but were so happy that we added two more nights. Sicli itself is a lovely place to visit- which is why we returned this year. As our hostess told to us it's o.k. to park your car on the street without worry for as long as you like. We also parked on the street last year. Friendly, genteel, honorable people, nice shops, great food, in a very beautiful setting 10 minutes from the sea. WOW!!!!!!
Review 2:Hard to find by car. We had to circle downtown Scicli a couple of times before hitting the correct way to reach the Piazza. Charging for parking the car in the hall (which requires exotic manoeuvres) seems a bit hard in retrospect but I suppose it's the price for your peace of mind - if you're lucky like I was not to scratch anything in the process.
Review 3:Charming experience of staying inside the palazzo for once! Beautiful house, absolutely central and close to all the sights. Friendly staff and nice breakfast.
Review 4:Nothing to dislike except perhaps the stairs to reception and the bedrooms might be a concern for the mature aged.
Review 5:Excellent location for visiting the baroque towns of Modica, Ragusa and Noto. Well located in Piazza Italia. Large bedrooms and a lovely breakfast each morning. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 6:Nothing bad at all, only that communication wasn't brilliant due to my lack of the Italian language. No problems though
Review 7:The palatial setting, lovely small town worth a visit.pretty little town. Perfectly located in the village square. Excellent price. Would certainly recommend it.
Review 8:We had a bit of trouble finding it when we first arrived as it is above a parade of shops and banks.
Review 9:Scicli was off the beaten tourist track, and we enjoyed being in the real Sicily in a typical small town.
Review 10:I liked everything about Conte Ruggero - a perfect small B&B
Review 11:Excellent B&B on first floor of palazzo overlooking Piazza Italia. Delightful welcoming staff, generous breakfast spread of home made products, huge rooms classically furnished.
Review 12:Worst breakfast of trip in Sicilian B&Bs. In the land of red oranges it's a crime to serve tasteless bottled orange juice. Hard slices of compact bread. No toaster. Too bad as home made jam seemed quite appetizing. Heating system insufficient for cold winter nights.
Review 13:Great location with beautiful view from the room on the cathedral.
Review 14:The historic nature of the building means that the rooms have very high ceilings and so it is hard to keep them warm. This is not, of course, the fault of the hotel or its staff and would not be a problem for most of the year. I think we were only aware of this because we were travelling during an unusually cold snap.
Review 15:Central location in a beautiful historic building. Helpful staff who spoke English as well as Italian and tried to help us with some questions we had about travel arrangements. Good breakfast.
Review 16:Painted ceilings and location, spacious room, tiled floors and good continental breakfast. Quaintly old fashioned - clean clean, comfortable and v characterful rooms in v central position
Review 17:Breakfast was ok but Maybe could have had more choice Being charged 5 euros for using the double bed in the room Extra per night was a bit unusual
Review 18:Location is superb Room sizes Everything works Has a dining room of magnificent Proportions even though they serve a possible breakfast It is good value
Review 19:Nothing
Review 20:We were hosted in a large and beautiful room, tastefully decorated, with a balcony overlooking one of the main squares, next to everything. The palace is a beauty in itself. Hospitality was exquisite. Breakfast, rich of local and home made products, is served with attention to details. An experience of joy.
Review 21:Nice staff, including a lovely older gentleman who took the time to tell us what he could about the history of the place when we expressed an interest. The sheer history of the building is remarkable and it's wonderful how they've preserved so much of it.
Review 22:The rooms have (locked) interconnecting doors, so some noise can percolate through from next door or from reception, but it was never a real problem. The en-suite facilities are a bit of a tight fit, but have been well incorporated into this historic treasure of a building and there's a glass roof, so that you can still see the main, painted ceiling above.
Review 23:It would be hard to find a better location in Scicli - right on the main square and a stroll away from the plentiful restaurants. Entrance to the building is via big, double doors into a courtyard, then up a narrow flight of stairs (originally the servants entrance, surely) to the first floor where the accommodation is located. And what accommodation! The painted ceiling in our huge room had to be seen to be believed. The owner and his staff were all pleasant and helpful and we really enjoyed our time there.
Review 24:We were very happy with everything at the hotel.
Review 25:The rooms are on the first floor, no lift, but the marble stairs are shallow and easy to negotiate. Our room was huge, on the front of the building with a balcony and despite being on the front, very quiet. Lovely painted ceiling and everywhere one is reminded it was a former palace/merchants house. Breakfast was plentiful. The location is excellent, with no problems in parking. For Montellbano fans the Police HQ (town hall) is just round the corner.
Review 26:A Beautiful building with an ambiance that reflects its history and the wonderfully welcoming staff who are kind and generous and a special mention for the owner ,great fun. I should talk about the stylish interior the enormous rooms high fresco ceilings.
Review 27:I think we didn't have the best room: it was situated near the reception so we could hear everything going on there. But that wasn't a major issue. Annoying was the fact that the rooms were seperated by only a double door, so we could hear everything what went on in the neighbouring room (so if asocial person decide to watch television -quite loud- till 1 o'clock, and wakes up at 7.30 with loud music, you get at least irritated).
Review 28:Very beautiful "palazzo" with stunning paintings on the ceiling. The rooms were spacious and everything was available what we needed. Good WiFi connection. Friendly staff. And Scicli itself is an hidden gem: it's very cosy, beautiful buildings and the ideal place to visit Modica, Ragusa, Noto,...
Review 29:Location,location, location
Review 30:The staff were very helpful even allowing for out lack of italian, and the location was perfect
Review 31:In the middle of Scicli. Carrefour round the corner. Well placed for coast, Ragusa, Modica, Noto.
Review 32:Grand old building with elegant large rooms, painted ceiling and chandeliers.Quiet at night for central location and quiet plumbing!
Review 33:A truly elegant house of the old style, it felt as if you were a friend of the family . Old fashioned courtesy and genteel, slightly whimsical.
Review 34:Me staying in a palace no it was good thank you
Review 35:Nice old building (former palace) with lots of character in the centre of town with secure parking.
Review 36:Nothing. The shower was somewhat small but it didn't bother me.
Review 37:Its a beautiful building. I loved my room and its fabulous ceiling. The location on the Piazza Italia is very central. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. I found it very relaxing and will definitely return there when I return to Scicli.
Review 38:Thank you, B&B Conte Ruggero, we spent greatest time on Sicily just here, I really can not find any negatives. Most beatiful place we were accomodated - romantic place (ancient palace) with atmosphere, stuff was awesome and do everything for us. And Scicli.. it is hidden jewel :-) We will come back to Conte Ruggero and wonderful Scicli!
Review 39:Different style of B&B in that its in an old palace on the first floor with large bedrooms and helpful owners.. Situated in the middle of town opposite a main square.. Parking can be had inside the large double doors; although its a bit tight to get in, or around the corner for free if you can find a space. Last week of May is the town procession . Scicli is a hidden gem and every bit as interesting as Ragussa or Modica with lots of Baroque buildings and the old fort and caves to explore in their faded glory.
Review 40:We stayed in the Music Room - overlooking the Piazza Italia. As the B&B was once a Grimaldi Palace, the room has a fantastic painted ceiling, lots of space, great bathroom facilities and a super view across the Piazza. The staff were extremely helpful, the room very clean, access to sightseeing in Scicli very easy - we felt it was great value for money.
Review 41:Nothing.
Review 42:Friendly welcome, interesting decor and secure parking.
Review 43:Lovely Bed & Breakfast, superb location in a lovely Town
