Reviews for Khmer Hands
Review 1:This was the best place we stayed in our 24 nights in Cambodia due to the friendliness of owners Chris and Naome and their wonderful staff. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Review 2:The foam mattress was very uncomfortable and irritated my back problem, but if you don't have a bad back it may not be an issue for you.
Review 3:Nice staff
Review 4:If you want to have your feet right into the sea, you will have to walk 10mn but that did not bother us because the place is so charming and relax.
Review 5:The owners Chris and Naome are the nicest people we have met in Cambodia so far. All the staff is smiling and helpful. The food is great and we really felt at home in their bungalows. We felt so well that we doubled the length of our stay and will come back if given the chance.
Review 6:Great secluded location with a laidback village feel. There's a range of huts to choose from each with their own terraces. Kris and Naome were excellent hosts and it's for a good cause as well as the profits are ploughed back into training local kids in the hospitality industry.
Review 7:We booked a room with balcony first, and it was wonderful. Later we switched to the regular room at ground level, and those were pretty amazing too, even if not quite as comfortable.Could have stayed here for a while, a really nice place to spend some time! The location is great, close enough to the crab market to walk there, and basically right next to the national park.
Review 8:The mattresses were a bit hard (but then again, where can you find a soft mattress in Cambodia). Because of the "open" cabins it can get a little warm in the room and we had to get used to the night nature sounds.
Review 9:Chris is the best host (owner) you can wish for, very helpful and friendly. Amazing staff and Food (best meals we had in Cambodia). Great location between the Beach and the National park.
Review 10:The mattresses could have been a bit better. Also, the location is a bit out of town. For our purpose it was not really a problem, but it would have been nice to take a walk rather than order a tuk tuk to go somewhere.
Review 11:The staff is well trained and very friendly and helpful. The owners have a hands-on approach and are always around to help with queries or to just have a chat. The food at the restaurant was delicious.
Review 12:Location can seem a bit far (was alright for us though). Concrete floors not the nicest
Review 13:The owner was very helpful and a great host! Staff is great. The bungalows are nice, some seem nicer than the others though. Breakfast (not included) is amazing! Can rent bikes and motorbikes from the place.
Review 14:Not really a negative, but important to know this is a family run and orientated hotel. If you are looking for somewhere where you can read quietly it may not be for you.
Review 15:Very friendly place to stay in a lovely town. Food was home cooked and fabulous. Exceptionally good value for money.
Review 16:How could you dislike anything? It's bliss.
Review 17:Absolutely stunning location, accommodation and staff. A real treasure. It's a bit of a walk from Kep central but you can walk along the natural park perimeter and be dumbfounded by the beauty. I would not hesitate to recommend a stay here!! Beautiful, relaxing, natural.
Review 18:If your in Kep stay at Khmer Hands. Beautiful little bungalows run by Chris (American) and his Cambodian wife and two gorgeous children. The huts have a comfortable double bed with fan and mosquito net. The little area is well maintained with little pathways between the huts. When you stay here you feel like your lost in the Cambodian forest with the sounds of monkeys and nature and the stars in the night sky. It's so stunning and peaceful. The restaurant makes delicious food and we witnessed sunset over the water! Pancakes are a must for breakfast and amok for dinner - so tasty!! Also a good spot to speak to other guests. The national park is close by and makes for a perfect afternoon stroll. Chris was very welcoming and friendly and gave us a lot of advice. All the staff here are happy to help! Stay here for a chilled out stay in beautiful Kep!! Amazing value for money!
Review 19:Nothing
Review 20:Realy liked our stay with Kris and Naomi. The view is amazing, de bungalow is simple although the bed is a bit hard. But for the price you canot complain.
Review 21:Beautiful, natural bungalows. Every room is custom-made and designed to be both functional and artistic. Excellent customer service. Chris helped us arrange everything. Gorgeous views from their top-floor restaurant, built in traditional Khmer style. Everything felt breezy, cool, and comfortable. Within walking distance to the crab market. Lovely little place in Kep!
Review 22:Our bungalow and bathroom wasn't cleaned during our stay (3 nights), but maybe we had to tell them we wanted it cleaned. The place was very clean from start so it wasn't a big problem.
Review 23:The owners and the staff are incredible friendly and helpful. They made our stay in Kep fantastic. We will for sure return to Kep and Khmer Hands. The bungalows, the garden and the restaurant were all very cosy.
Review 24:my sheets were dirty (birds) the price is expensive, we have to walk 30 minutes to go to the town, 15 minutes to go to the crab market nice restaurant but expensive too
Review 25:staff advices very nice owner
Review 26:Extraordinarily beautiful retreat, run by extraordinarily friendly hosts! :) The Bungalows are clean, the view is nice and the food is great. Do yourself a favor and stay at Chris' and Naomi's place while in Kep. Thanks for a great time!
Review 27:Fantastic!Naome and Chris are amazing hosts and their staff is great. Very good location to explore Kep and the region. Nice, clean facilities and an outstanding restaurant with Khmer and Western cuisine. If you go to Kep go to Khmer Hands!
Review 28:I wish I could give this place more than a 10. Khmer Hands is the whole reason I returned to Kep in the first place. This was my second time staying here and it won't be my last. The area the property is in is perfect - it backs right up on the National Park which is a beautiful and well-kept place to walk around. The main beach and town is about a 20 minute walk away which has some beautiful scenery along the way. If you aren't into walking it's easy to get a tuk tuk anywhere. There's also a smaller beach area and beautiful restaurant/area to watch the sunset just a few minutes walk from guesthouse. The bungalows are simple, but have everything you need - and some gorgeous park and ocean views if you're lucky. The food at the on-site restaurant is the best I had in Cambodia - nothing on the menu ever disappointed. But my favorite thing about this place is the staff. Kris and Naomi and the entire staff went out of their way to make me feel at home - which was so appreciated when I arrived quite sick. Honestly you can't find nicer people to sit and have a chat with. I could go on forever about how amazing it is. Just do yourself a favor and stay here. Thank you so much for everything and I can't wait to see you again!
Review 29:Beautiful and lovely acommodation with little wooden houses. This was definitely our best stay in Cambodia! Chris and Naome - the heart and soul of Khmer Hands - helped us with every question we had. We also LOVED the food in Khmer Hands (breakfast and lunch/dinner that is served the whole day; the Chicken Amok is soooo good!) Thank you very much Chris and Naome and the whole team for you warm welcome. We try to come back one day when the swimming pool is finished :)
Review 30:- Nothing!
Review 31:We had an amazing stay at Khmer Hands! The owners are very friendly and extremely helpful. We stayed at the traditional tree cabin, we had a beautiful view and the cabin was an experience in itself. The architecture and bathroom where impressive. Overall if we have a chance we will come back again! Thank you Kris and Naome for the warm welome and good help!
Review 32:Nothing at all.
Review 33:Chris and Naomi and all staffs here is very friendly. Chris adviced us where to go and what to do in town. Food is good at reasonable price with western and Khmer dishes. We had all our meals here. One more, the atmostphere is quiet and peaceful.
Review 34:Only that I couldn't stay longer
Review 35:Perfect place for a quiet getaway. You can feel the warmth of the place the second you arrive. Chris, Naomi and all of the staff are what everyone in the hospitality industry should be and more. They are always smiling, so helpful and so kind. The bungalows are perfectly located steps from the national park if hiking is of interest. Nice mosquito net also to keep the critters away.
Review 36:Leaving!!!
Review 37:We loved everything about our stay! Everyone is so lovely, kind, attentative & accommodating. The atmosphere feels more like staying with friends than a guesthouse. We fell in love with the place instantly & of course extended our stay. The location is great with easy access to everything Kep has to offer. We also spent a couple of days just lounging in the hammocks. They offer bike & moto rental for if you want to venture a little further out. The food in the restaurant is also really delicious, especially the curry & the burgers (made with home made patties!!!!) We absolutely recommend staying here & Kep is a charming little town.
Review 38:Everything was perfect
Review 39:Khmer Hands is the place me and my wife will definitely come back to. We stayed only one day in Kep because of our tight schedule but had a splendid time at this place. Staff was so nice and polite. Introduced us to the city. We rented a motorbike and drove through Kep. We stayed in a tree bungalow and it was one of the greatest experiences we had during our visit to Cambodia.
Review 40:Excellent choice and location. Chris will Help you in starting your Journey in Kep and give excellent advices what everything your questions might be. I fully recommend Khmer Hands !
Review 41:Leaving
Review 42:What's not to like.... The owners are amazing people and always have the time of day for you. The staff are just the same and there always happy and want to help :)
Review 43:Our best stay in Cambodia so far. Chris, the owner, is a super nice guy and always there for a little chat. If you need anything from bikes/motos to a trip to rabbit island or detailed information on what to see/do in Kep, Chris or his manager Ay are the ones to ask. We also did a daytrip to rabbit island and stayed there for another 4 nights. We would strongly recommend this for anyone who wants some peaceful and quiet days/nights at an (almost) empty beach.
Review 44:Amazing setting with beautiful and comfortable little bungalows in amongst green vegetation. Located a five-minute bike ride from the crab market. The staff were very friendly and booked our bus and boat tickets. There's a good restaurant providing free wifi, hammocks to read in, and bikes available for rent.
Review 45:The wifi wasn't working properly at our room, but it was soon to be fixed.
Review 46:The owners are very caring and extremely kind. The room was very nice (we stayed in the eco bungalow), being tidy and clean. Definitely a very recommended choice.
Review 47:Wi fi signal non existent in bungalows, only available in restaurant area but this is pretty standard for bungalow accommodation around here
Review 48:Very friendly staff, quiet grounds, close to nature.
Review 49:I'm very happy that I stayed at Khmer Hands! I enjoyed my time there. Everything was amazing! The owners are very welcoming what makes you feel like at home.
Review 50:cold water - sea view room where you only see a very little piece of sea if you are lucky with the weather
Review 51:staff - cleanliness - location - price - peaceful place
Review 52:I was travelling with my Mum around Cambodia for 2 weeks and in the end we by chance booked 2 nights in Khmer hands in Kep. In the end, we stayed till the very end of our trip and it was really hard to leave this amazing place. Chris and his cambodian wife Naomi created a really unique resort with little bungalows in a nice garden at the edge of a national parc with a sea and rain forest view. The bungalows are simple, but clean and the houskeeping done by their students was always perfect. The best thing about this accomodation is Chris'hospitality. You feel like a family member from the very beginning, Chris helps with planing of your programm, transportation and ansqers all your question. You can have interwsting talks about life in Cambodia and you must try at least Naomi's secret soup in their restaurant, but everything we had was fresh and tasted really good. We hope to be back soon.
Review 53:Charming staff, easy going helpful and friendly. Location is beautiful and quiet but in walking distance to crab Market. Would visit again and recommend to friends.
Review 54:Both Chris & Naomi are very nice guys and they always make sure that you enjoy your stay. There is nice bar area with tasty breakfast and also an option to rent a scooter from them which is very cheap and efficient way to discover surrounding area.
Review 55:Nothing. It was perfect.
Review 56:The garden setting at the foot of Kep National Park is fantastic. The staff, particularly Chris who runs Khmer Hands, were very enthusiastic and welcoming. Great breakfast after a comfortable night falling asleep to the sound of nature.
Review 57:The bathrooms weren't stocked with TP so had to ask for refills more than once.
Review 58:The staff were all friendly and very helpful. Directions to and descriptions of places to visit in Kep and Kampot were all easy to understand and very precise. Having a moto available was also a huge plus!
Review 59:Where should I start? Just everything about this place is amazing! We stayed in one of the newer Bungalows with a private bathroom and a comfortable, queen-sized bed. The whole area is just beautiful, the staff is very, very friendly and Chris and Naomi are one of the most friendliest people I've ever met. In fact, we loved it so much that we extended our stay by four days - it felt like paradise. The food that is served is very delicious, so delicious that we ate here almost every day. Chris told us all the places to visit around Kep, organized trips (to e. g. Rabbit Island), booked a Moto for us and gave us a lot of insight into Cambodian live. The Bungalow we stayed in was very clean and comfortable. With the walls not going up to the ceiling it almost felt as if we were staying outside in the nature, which I liked a lot. Contrary to what I expected from a bungalow like this, moskitos were no problem at all. One of the issues that Chris and Naomi take great care of is sustainability. With your stay, you're helping the schooling of young Cambodians which is a very good feeling. Thanks, Chris, Naomi and staff, for making our stay so pleasant! We were sad to leave, but plan on coming back if we travel Cambodia again. I cannot praise this place enough. Visit Khmer Hands! We highly recommend it.
Review 60:Well thought out / designed bungalows. Good location within walking distance to crab market. Excellent wifi. Comfortable bed. Friendly helpful hosts. Great mission to help the local kids learn English and hospitality.
Review 61:We had to leave Kep...
Review 62:Chris and Naome are together with their lovely staff some amazing hosts that try to make your stay as pleasant as possible! The beautifully arranged bungalows are embedded in an amazing garden. Also the food in their little restaurant is unbelievable delicious. It was by far the most pleasant and relaxing accommodation within our two months in Asia.
Review 63:Come & help! They need teachers, support, donations for supplies, & materials, kitchen equipment, a pottery studio, sewing machines, work tables, screen printing stuff, U name it, they need it. It's a good thing!
Review 64:The location, the food, the staff, are all exceptional.
Review 65:Nothing really. Potential stumbling block could be that they don't take Visa, and there is only one cash machine in Kep that is sometimes empty. They were doing road improvements when we were there, so hopefully the roads will be better for future visitors.
Review 66:Proximity to Kep National Park is excellent, which means that you can explore the area very easily. Location is pretty quiet. Staff very helpful. Ambience very relaxed. Food good. Not too far to walk to the crab market for dinner or to the beach, though further than some might desire, I guess.
Review 67:Not much more to add to the positive reviews of Khmer Hands; stellar owners, great little bungelows in a great location. Although in Kep if you want to get around a scooter is mandatory. All the food that I ate there was prepared fresh and of good quality. Be sure to check out the new French bakery in Kep if your needed a pastry fix!
Review 68:It was our seventh stay in Cambodia, but one of the best mostly because of the owners, Kris and Naomi who create so warm and friendly atmosphere that we felt really like at home. If you are not very demanding Khmer hands guesthouse is the best choise to stay. Cast/quality rate is perfect. Location is also good, because Khmer hands is surrounded by several hotels and guesthouses with pools and different restaurants those you may visit if you want. Kris, Naomi and all the staff will help you with everything you need to get or to know. We recommend Khmer hands to all the tourists who prefer warm atmosphere and would like to know more about Cambodia.
Review 69:Lots of irritating insects.but inevitable due country natural enviroment.otherwise excellant!
Review 70:-perfect place close to the crab market -the owners are very nice, they help us to organise our travel to Vietnam and they wake up at 5:00am just to check that everything was ok for us ;)
Review 71:If you are looking for a no-thrill type of accommodation that deliverssuperior value; Khmer Hands it is! Brand new bungalows with basicfurniture; a comfortable bed with clean sheets; a cold shower to freshen-up and wake-up in the morning… Better than good for the money you arecharged! Above everything else, you will meet the (perfect) hosts: Krisand Naome. They will tell you their story and their vision for KhmerHands (this will make you feel very good to have chosen this place). They will do everything to make your stay truly enjoyable; help you planyour visits, organize transportation; just ask and help is on the way!Very good (international) breakfast; good lunch and dinner menu. Quiet and excellent location; a few steps away from Kep National Park and yet within walking distance of the Crab market. Very good wifi connection. Highly recommended!
Review 72:Wish we'd stayed longer!
Review 73:A property that is neatly strewn with traditional Khmer styled bungalows, Khmer Hands is the perfect place to relax, undisturbed. Whichever way your bungalow faces, the view is a treat. But the view is something that you will enjoy while you soak in the silence while sitting on the patio on stills. Hammocks are another way to just unwind here. Chris and Naomi are wonderful hosts and you can have interesting conversations at the bar and restaurant within the premises. Chris is also helpful with information on how to get to the National Park (few hundred meters from the location) and other local attractions. In case you need to make bookings for further travel or just hire a moped for the day, Khmer Hands is more than willing to help. The crab market is not far away and is a fun experience, especially if you enjoy sea food. All in all, it is a great place to spend some time while you let calm get the better of you.
Review 74:If you are clear about what you are going to, there is nothing to not like.
Review 75:Posh camping. You get to enjoy the sounds of the night from a comfy bed encased in a mosquito net. There's a wonderful restaurant serving a wide selection of delicious, well made dishes. This place is run by a lovely family and they and their staff work tirelessly to ensure your stay is perfect.
Review 76:What did I love more like it. Such loving people,so kind and generous. Really made us so welcome and we felt part of their beautiful family. The staff are lovely, can't do enough to help and the food is the best in Kep. We love our home from homexxx
Review 77:kris and Naome are the best possible hosts,so friendly, informative, and willing to arrange anything needed for a stay in the area. They are creating a very special paradise, showing respect for local culture and custom and even helping young people locally
Review 78:room wasn't cleaned in our 4 nights stay. I had to ask for a new toilet paper roll and had to bring myself the full bathroom bin to reception.
Review 79:The owner was amazing !
Review 80:nothing. splendid!
Review 81:everything! price quality ratio is perfect! The people are so nice, they try to help with everything, The lodges are very beautiful, handcrafted. The location is good. The owners know a lot about the city.
Review 82:I absolutely loved everything about this place. The setting is incredible. I stayed in the bungalow on stilts and I highly recommend that room to anyone planning on staying here. I had incredible views of the national park from my front door and views of the ocean from the bathroom. The staff was the kindest I have ever met. Kris and Naome, the owners, are always there to help with anything you need. When I first arrived Kris spent at least 30 minutes explaining the area and different things to do/see. The food is incredible. If you get one thing on the menu, try Naome's secret soup. I wish I had gotten that my first night, I would have had it every day after that. The bungalows are in a really good location to explore the rest of town. The beach is barely a five minute walk away. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you ever have thopportunity to go to Kep (and I highly recommend it), you should stay here. I can't wait to return next year. Thank you for an amazing 4 days!
Review 83:- location is a bit remote from "the town" but with a scooter no pb - sometimes they start a generator when public electricity is not working ... That can happen a 7.am ... Hard to sleep then... - the price of the bottle of water ....
Review 84:- Staff and owner are very friendly - nice area and bungalows - food is not cheap but very good
Review 85:There was an vomit smell near a side of the bed that did not disappear even after the staff cleaned it. You need a scooter to go to Kep center/beach/restaurants.
Review 86:The staff was really nice, especially the owners who gave us many advice about Kep and its surronding countryside. I have asked a scooter and 10minutes later the scooter was there. The rooms are basic but very nice, the breakfast was excellent (panckages)
Review 87:Everything - comfy bungalows, superfriendly service, excellent food, competent information. I was so happy there that I made a little video about Khmer Hands which you will soon find on youtube...
Review 88:- its the jungle so do not expect any hot water - take note that breakfast comes at a little extra
Review 89:- fun atmosphere, jungle feeling with cute frog in the toilet - good cooks that make very nice dishes - friendly staff - very fair prices (we stayed two nights and had big breakfasts and several rounds at the bar for two persons total of USD 75, and the owner even wrote down we had "half" a glass of wine as he just finished the bottle (though the glass was pretty full anyways) - wifi was available all the time
Review 90:Security can be improved (windows cannot be closed properly). When we came back from a day trip we found our windows open and the hut accessible for everyone which is a no go! And although Chris provides Bicycles you certainly need a moto to get around Kep.
Review 91:The owner Chris is a charm, most huts are new, the food was very nice as well
Review 92:Wonderful staff. Kris took the time to discuss the map and our exploring options. The bungalows are simple yet comfortable with a very lovely garden. Plus, it's great value for the money.
Review 93:Nothing...
Review 94:The owners and staff are amazing people, really friendly and interested, felt like home immediatly! They gave us many informatie about what we could do, helped us with everything! Clean and comfortable bungalows and the location is perfect! Recommend this place to everyone! Chris and Naomi, and everybody else, thank you so much! We will definitly come back!
Review 95:Nothing, apart from a frog called Toby that pounced on me in the bathroom lol!
Review 96:Chris and Naome were amazing hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to help all guests by offering great advice about the local area. This was even more apparent for me since I was on crutches after breaking some bones in my foot! Thank you for the ice packs by the way! The accommodation is comfortable and clean and set in lush, green surroundings. Amazing breakfasts and a wonderful place to chill and feel at home. I also met a great bunch of solo travellers. I found it very hard to leave! Thank you for a wonderful stay guys x
Review 97:Kris and his wife were very nice and helpful, deffinitelly recommend for travellers passing by. It is a peaceful place, right on the edge of Kep national park. 5minutes by bike/motorbike to the beach or market.
Review 98:Nothing, we will come back, everything was just perfect.
Review 99:- The owner and his family are very helpful and friendly - Bungalows are new, very clean, and very nice - Perfect place to find peace and meet other travelers
Review 100:A hot shower might be the only thing I might want but for the price, I can do without. Khmer Hands isn't luxurious but it will be our go-to place for a weekend away from Phnom Penh because of all the things I mentioned above.
Review 101:Eat-off-the-floor clean. Stayed in much more expensive places that weren't this clean. Hospitality of Chris, Naomi and the staff is exceptional. Great "family" atmosphere for the guests. Food is good too. Also, easy to rent motos, get Tuk tuks or arrange tours.
Review 102:The bungalows here are so amazing. One of the best places we have stayed so far. Kris (American) and Naomi (Khmer) are excellent hosts and really eager to give plenty of advice about where to go and what to see while in Kep. We hired a moto and they gave us a good map and pointed out great places including recommended coffee and lunch stops! Can't reend this place highly enough. The location is not right in the town but it's only a 15 min walk to the crab market and 20-25 into the main square. Take a torch for evenings as streetlights stop a little before. The bungalow we stayed in was really beautiful - traditionally built with a comfy bed and a clean mozzie net. The toilet/shower was across the courtyard only about 15m and each bungalow has a separate one. Breakfasts and the coffee are great. Would love to return one day
Review 103:Having to leave after 9 days
Review 104:Naome and Kris are by far the friendliest and most caring hosts I've ever stayed with. They took care of really everything and made me feel almost like being part of the family.
Review 105:nothing
Review 106:Kris and Naome are wonderful hosts, nothing is too much trouble for them. The resort is spotless, well organised and the perfect place to relax as the owners look after you so well We booked two nights but decided to stay the week
Review 107:Firstly the owner is very friendly and helpful but I felt underneath his calm exterior was a man juggling too many balls. Extensions are afoot which can make for an early awakening as builders like to start in the cool of the early morn. Once completed they will not effect your stay. The treehouse was really cute but quite hard work as hot and the bathroom was awkward. Nor a lot of sleep was had as the fan was insufficient. That said for the money and even disregarding the money it was still a great place to stay and the neighbours have an amazing pool at your disposal for a mere Piña Colada.
Review 108:Welcoming owners who organised our activities for us with ease. Cute and cosy and very clean. Great food. Great project in the making.
Review 109:It was such a nice place to stay: friendly and helpful staff, bungalows in a beautiful natural landscape, close to the seaside and to the national park as well. It will always be a good advice to go there and support them!
Review 110:Fantastic place! We are so glad we found it! The bungalows are comfortable and clean, the place is very relaxing and the owners (Chris and Naomi) are absolutely wonderful, very helpful and friendly, what a great family! To anyone going to Kep, I would definitely recommend this place!!
Review 111:Welcoming owners, weath if knowledge, friendly staff, comfortable and quiet, ideal place to relax, close to crab market and many other restaurants, short distance to the beach, great food (breakfast was my favourite), definite great value for money
Review 112:This is the first review I have ever given but felt I had to as we had the best stay here - highly recommend it ! Chris and Naomi are fabulous hosts and made you feel part of the family . Try Naomi's secret soup - not on the menu but it's amazing
Review 113:We loved our stay at Khmer Hands. Kris and Naome were wonderful hosts, so helpful and kind, and we really enjoyed meeting them and learning about their fantastic project. The bungalows were lovely, the breakfasts probably the best we had in our whole 3 week stay in Cambodia, and the welcome so warm that we will never forget it. Good luck with your school, it's an amazing project and we wish you every success. We very much hope to come back one day.
Review 114:Rien du tout
Review 115:Everything Quiet place to stay and enjoy this village of Kep. The couple owner manages very well this place situated at the bottom of the natural parc. They speak perfectly english, the staff is friendly also. The food is fresh and cooked just behind you. I can recommend more that place. I stayed 3 nights and wanted to stay more, but have to leave. My bathroom was clean every days. They arrange all transferts from the guesthouse to Vietnamese boarder, Phu Quoc, Can Tho, Chau Doc, kampot, Sianoukville, rabbith island, if you need a tuck tuck, ...
