Reviews for Hotel Novecento

Review 1:A nightmare to find. Like in all medieval Sicilian towns all the roads are one direction and very narrow indeed. But the "damsel in distress" routine came in handy. All sicilian males are gentlemen.

Review 2:Beautiful house in the heart of beautiful Scicli. Nice night porter changed my room to one with direct access to the garden when I told him I'm a smoker.

Review 3:Only downside is that its central location means Italian traffic for access if driving there.

Review 4:Lovely small hotel with good facilities good central location, friendly approachable staff, good breakfast. no dinner available is not a problem as there are many good restaurants in easy walking.

Review 5:Just finding the place is a challenge. Would recommend a good sat nav and small to medium car as some streets are narrow.

Review 6:The staff were very friendly and spoke good English. We had a good induction into the area and we were given a map and directions for all the sights and eateries etc. We had a lovely spacious superior room and the nicest choices of breakfast food of all the 3 different places we stayed in Sicily. Great town and great hotel.

Review 7:It is just a bit hard to find the hotel, it is tucked away on side streets making it hard to find, but once you are there it is heaven.

Review 8:Everything was great! The staff were incredible, professional and yet down to earth. The owner even prepares fruit ices for your breakfast and often manages the reception desk. Breakfast wonderful, cheeses, pastries, meats, cereals a perfect European style breakfast. They gave us excellent tips for meals, we ate at three of the four because our stay was only three days. All excellent and unique experiences. They could even give insights on the Montalbano hotspots in Scicli. A perfect stay for us and one of the best few days I have ever had.

Review 9:Geen negatieve ervaringen.

Review 10:Veel persoonlijke aandacht van het personeel. Met tips voor restaurants, bezienswaardigheden etc. Een fantastisch ontbijt met lokale producten van topkwaliteit.

Review 11:Despite listed features there is no restaurant here.

Review 12:Modern boutique type hotel within old building. Very central to explore the lovely baroque town. Ample car parking. Balcony.

Review 13:A little hard to find, but a grerat central location.

Review 14:This is a an exceptional boutique hotel, offering great rooms, lovely courtyard, friendly staff and fanatasic breakfast. Set in a genuinely wonderful small town of Scicili this hotel is a stand out. And the town is worth a visit.

Review 15:Nothing at all.

Review 16:We very much enjoyed our stay at 900. The ubicacion is right in the middle of the little town and all the interessting sights are in easy walking distance. The Hotel is charming, comfortable rooms with everything needed. Excellent Delicious , plentiful breakfast and above all very friendly and helpful personal . We can only recommend it .

Review 17:We had wonderful rooms but unfortunately one of them was let down by very poor lighting. There was a fault with the electrics that when rectified partially addressed the issue, however, the staff did not seem to understand why there was a problem and hence unlikely to be rectified long term. Shame as it is very easy to resolve and the other room was fabulously lit. There was a minor disagreement over total price, but this was clearly an error of translation and genuine misunderstanding on both sides (and was amicably resolved in the end, but rather took the shine off of the stay).

Review 18:The location is excellent, with easy access to the heart of the town through the narrow streets. The staff tried their best, although there were some minor misunderstandings.

Review 19:Our room whilst very comfortable had little natural light provided only by doorway onto street

Review 20:Great central location. Helpful informative staff. Beautifully decorated.

Review 21:leaving!

Review 22:beautiful restoration, tastefully decorated. Staff excellent and helpful, Breakfast was a very good selection including lots of fresh fruit and fresh orange juice (to order, not sat in a jug). Parking is problably difficult in summer, but we had no problems. A wonderful old town.

Review 23:Very nice people. One member of staff waited up for us even though we were late getting in. A great place to have spent the first night of our trip around Sicily. And one of the two nicest hotels we stayed at.

Review 24:A little hard to find. You have to believe your Sat Nav & Maps when you seem to be driving up footpaths. But no real problems.

Review 25:Great position and great staff

Review 26:high standard of rooms, helpful, very friendly staff, excellent and varied choice for breakfast. The town is very welcoming with many historic buildings and dining possibilities. Could easily live there !

Review 27:Had to leave and missed saying thanks to some of the staff.

Review 28:The Best Hotel in Southern Sicily? Well certainly must be the best in Noto Valley! When you arrive at a hotel and are treated as the 'only' guest, only to find at breakfast a full dining room - then you know it's a very special hotel! Staff are top notch, and breakfast goodies are amongst the freshest in Italy.

Review 29:Aircon took a little working out, and some noise from other rooms.

Review 30:Nice clean hotel with good breakfast. Close to central attractions. Boutique hotel feel. Great town and close to local beaches by car. Amazing place at night. Much much nicer place than north Sicily

Review 31:Room was with a jacuzzi and nice little window to the garden (a big window was also present) but very small, water from the shower went on floor because the curtain was from plastic and the postion of shower heads. I needed to dry floor myself with towels and this was annoying.

Review 32:Breakfast but be sure to come early as they don't put any new food and even water in process (for example we had melon and sun dried tomatoes and other guests after us didn't...). The guys (not the lady who I believe is a director) were nice. The lady even didn't ask us if we enjoyed our stay and didn't show any hospitality. We could leave our car just near the entrance. It is in the center but in a quiet street.

Review 33:Not much that we can think of..

Review 34:This is a very good Hotel. The building is beautiful, the room well styled and very clean. the welcome and attention from the staff is very warm. The breakfast is excellent…

Review 35:The only tiny tiny thing that would have been nice would have been a box of tissues in the bathroom! But really no complaints at all!

Review 36:I loved EVERYTHING out this amazing hotel. The breakfast was fantastic - a true feast of anything imaginable from fresh coffee to excellent granitas, a wide choice of sweet and savoury pastries, wonderful selection of cheeses and breads. The room extremely comfortable with a great bathroom and shower with massive shower head. Staff all very friendly and helpful. The garden is shadowy and a great place for afternoon tea. The location of the hotel is fantastic, very close to the centre but yet in a quiet spot.

Review 37:I liked everything

Review 38:This is a simply wonderful place to stay.It is in an exquisite setting and is a beautiful building with lovely rooms and a pretty garden. All the staff are extremely helpful and breakfast is superb

Review 39:Nothing!

Review 47:staff were great and the hotel in general is very smart, modern and clean

Review 48:No atmosphere, renovated in a modern style that felt superficial

Review 49:Excellent Location, very clean, good breakfast

Review 50:Staff very helpful and friendly, excellent location 2 mins away from the centre and 20 mins away from Modica and Sampieri beach.

Review 51:Nothing

Review 52:Building full of character in great location in the town and for exploring the surrounding area.Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 53:Excellent service from Luigi. He was very helpful.

Review 54:Excellent central location with helpful, friendly staff in a well managed hotel.

Review 55:Excellent central location with easy parking nearby. A very enjoyable stay.

Review 56:Type of room changed from that booked without consultation

Review 57:Very clean, comfortable and convenient

Review 58:Nothing.

Review 59:Providing us with anything we wanted. Nothing was too much trouble.

Review 60:I woke up with a cleaning staff (?) sang songs loudly in early morning.

Review 61:Very clean and beautiful interior.

Review 62:Excellent breakfast and great location

Review 63:The bed a bit too rigid. The TV screen in the room quite small.

Review 64:The location and the very helpful staff. The breakfast buffet.

Review 65:Location style and staff

Review 66:Bar cafe area not open. Could not get a drink in the early evening before going out

Review 67:Staff and location. Breakfast outstanding

Review 68:Limited layout space for toiletries in bathroom.

Review 69:Design, attentiveness of staff.

Review 70:Everything!

Review 71:It's location was perfect, just round the corner from the main cluster of baroque buildings. Friendly, helpful staff. Delicious breakfast.

Review 72:Location, very helpful staff, good breakfast, quiet and comfortable rooms. Nicely decorated.

Review 73:A stylish conversion of a beautiful old building in the centre of this delightful Baroque hideaway known as Scicly. Wonderful decor including ceiling frescoes ( very unusal in a single room) and the best continental breakfast I have ever had whilst travelling in Europe. Thank you to all the staff who are kind and happy people.

Review 74:Really helpful and smiling staff made our stay excellent. We even booked a coffee party at short notice which was superb. Breakfast is wonderful, arrive hungry. We wil return.

Review 75:I would really have appreciated Tea & Coffee making facilities in my room.

Review 76:The staff were helpful and very accomodating. The Breakfast was excellent! My room was very comfortable.

Review 77:Only a personal view but some of the "design" elements are a little to much show over practicality (the rainfall shower is too big for small cubicles, the overhead cabinets are postioned in a way that you can crack your head). Also, and again only a personal view, the first room we had (904) is odd in that it has next door's shower effectively inside your room (in order to save the frescoed ceiling, of which much is made). This means you can hear when someone uses the facilities and also see the light go on because it shines up into the ceiling at night. But replacement room - at the back was very nice. Probably worth checking out the rooms because they are all different in layout - certainly the suite across the front looks to be extremely nice.

Review 78:Friendly and helpful staff, good location (central yet quiet ) including being able to park car outside. Excellent breakfasts. All in all no hesitation in recommending.

Review 79:electricity panel in bedroom emitted a buzz so we had to disconnect it to be able to sleep. As a consequence we were unable to charge our phones overnight.

Review 80:staff, location, decor were all excellent - a gem of a place

Review 81:The most impressive thing about this hotel was the staff. Everyone was so helpful, friendly and capable. They could give many 5-star hotels a lesson in how to treat guests. The days we spent at Novecento were a delight.

Review 82:Nil (except that it is hard to get there, but this is the price to pay for being so near the pedestrian dowtown area).

Review 83:+ Nicely located within centro storico. + Luxurious renovation of old palace. + Extremely comfortable room, furnished with great taste, and very quiet. + Very kind, dedicated staff. + Gorgeous breakfast buffet with wide variety of delicious local products.

Review 84:We travelled around Ragusa in the second week of November and a lot of restaurants had closed for winter, including the one in this hotel.

Review 85:Very chic and welcoming hotel in the centre of Scicli, just perfect for exploring this beautiful Italian Baroque town.

Review 86:Challenging to find in the dark given Scicli's one-way system and the lack of any obvious signs to the hotel.

Review 87:Charming rooms and friendly staff. Wonderful breakfasts.

Review 88:Friendly incredibly helpful staff, fabulous breakfasts, comfortable and beautifully designed rooms and interior, great beds, location (even if difficult to find),

Review 89:Nothing. All was fine.

Review 90:This is one of the best hotels in Sicily and a good reason to choose Scicli as a base. This was our second stay and we will come again. Rooms are luxurious, some with splendid painted ceilings. All have luxurious modern bathrooms. Breakfast is ample and various - perhaps the best we have sampled.

Review 91:This is a fabulous hotel in a beautiful little town. We stayed in the junior suite, which is stunning with windows out on two sides, a lovely bathroom and amazing space for the middle of a town. The breakfast was the best I've had in any hotel. Great attention to detail in everything, but what made it really special on top of all this were the friendly and helpful staff. We were even personally shown the way to drive to the edge of the town as we were leaving. A real gem.

Review 92:wish there had been dining in the evening. Would have preferred one of the older larger rooms in the main building as our room was quite small for my husband who is 6ft 5"

Review 93:The staff and general ambience, a good base for exploring the area

Review 94:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Donatella, the owner, went toextreme effort to assist us with retrieving a lost passport. She savedour vacation!

Review 95:Lack of comfortable (sofas etc) in a sociable area. The sofas were in the reception and walk through room link areas only.

Review 96:Quiet Hotel, easy reach to all Scicili restaurants and points of interest. Informative staff made the experience most agreeable.

Review 97:Highly recommended. Wonderful staff - knowledgeable, courteous and always ready to help. Excellent facilities. Scicli is a jewel wrongly overshadowed by Ragusa and Modica.

Review 98:Unfortunately the hotel restaurant wasn't open when we visited in April, and this was not clear when we booked. The television screen in the breakfast room was distracting and inappropriate. Hotel tricky to locate (very helpful locals took us there)

Review 99:A beautiful historic building, in a wonderful location. Very attractive room with wonderful painted ceiling and other details. Helpful and friendly staff. Very clean and well managed. Courtyard garden and romantic balcony.

Review 100:We had to leave eventually.

Review 101:Everything! Great welcome, lovely room in beautiful hotel. Excellentbreakfast with the only good breakfast coffee in Italy.

Review 102:The hotel is located in the old part of the town and the hotel itselfis very atmospheric as it is in a small palazzo. The staff were unfailingly polite and helpful and suggested routes to visit other towns in the Baroque Triangle as well as local nature reserves. They also recommended local restaurants and bars

Review 103:The hotel is a little oasis of luxury in a beautiful little town. The staff were wonderful, the rooms clean, warm and very tastefully decorated. The bathtub was divine! As was the breakfast buffet. We had the best Cappuccino yet. Simple a wonderful place to stay.

Review 104:It was a perfect place to stay - we enjoyed everything.

Review 105:When we arrived in Scicli we stopped to buy some train tickets and were asking for directions to the hotel Novecento in a small travel agents. Amazingly, the owner of the hotel drove over to the travel agents and picked us up. She was extrelemy friendly, welcoming and helpful. The interior decor was stunning. The breakfasts were wonderfully fresh and apetizing and all the staff were extrememly helpful.

Review 106:Misleading pics: rooms did not come close to looking like what is shown on the booking.com site.

Review 107:Location within Scicli is fine. Service provided by staff was very good.

Review 108:A superb hotel in an unbeatable location in a beautiful town. The staff were great and the breakfasts were amazing. Astonishing quality in such a small hotel.

Review 109:Very good breakfast. All the staff were keen for you to have the best possible experience. They had good English and were very helpful without being intrusive. The cost of our stay was the cheapest and best value of the six places we stayed at in Sicily. We are worried that they will go out of business! Our late-night grappa was on the house.

Review 110:We were given a room that had almost been completed as all the door architraves were missing. The room was modern design rather that contemporary. The walls were white, the bed linen was white. The room looked like a box.

Review 111:The hotel was in a very good location for the town. The bathroom was modern with colour changing lights and Jacuzzi bath.

Review 112:The hotel itself is beautiful; the rooms have great facilities, the painted ceilings are stunning and the general comfort is second the none that we have ever stayed in. We stayed for 5 nights whilst on our honemoon and the Novecento made it everything that we ever hoped! The staff (particualrly Vincenzo and Luigi) were absolutely fantastic and we so helpful in general queries or offering their assistance with recommended beaches or restaurants. The location of the hotel is great, just a short walk from the centre with the restaurants, shops and bars. We would recommend this to young couples, mature couples and families...just a great place to stay and we will definitely be returning! Ps - the breakfast is fantastic too!! Thanks to all at the Novecento and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Review 113:A beautiful building and location, Scicly is lovely. Lots of fantastic restaurants which the friendly and helpful staff will recommend. Scicly is near the coast and the other historic towns which you may want to visit so sight seeing and lazing about on the beach can be done on the same day or alternated, Perfect

Review 114:Only problem were very squeeky bed in our room, and workmen startingaround 7 am on the hotel extention.

Review 115:Absolutely wonderful hotel , perfect for short stay if you are touringSicilly. Staff is very helpful, traditional Sicilian breakfastexcellent.

Review 116:There was absolutely nothing we didn't like and we are usually hardto please!

Review 117:This was a really good hotel in all respects. The room was delightfulwith a balcony and access to a second balcony to take tea overlookingthe small garden. Scicli is a typical Sicilian town, old style and webegan to feel quite at home during our week. Nothing was too muchtrouble for the staff and the food provided at breakfast was marvellous. When the bill arrived we were pleasantly surprised as it was great valuefor the price paid. Certainly we will return.

Review 118:A bit disappointed by the roof given near the reception, very noisy aswe could hear all the conversations between the réceptionist and theclients as the préparation for breakfast from 6.30. The bathroom wasnot to the level of the rest of the room. Hotel difficult to find evenwith a gps.

Review 119:Nice hotel in the centre of Scicli. Personnel helpful and friendly. Verygood breakfast.

Review 120:My room had a rather slightly noisy airconditioner which could not be turned off else adjust the temp (maybe I did not realise there is an on/off). If you have light sleep, this might be a problem, as there is hum at night. The breakfast lacked variety, but it's always a buffet. The juices and coffee were great. I also think that the ooms were not fully soundproof, but not bad either. Price good, though could be a bit cheaper.

Review 121:The location is just at the heart of the city and that's the largest advantage of this hotel. The services are great, and the staff is very nice and speaks good English. The room is very nice, quite spacious (seen larger and smaller), with TV, desk, fridge, lock, wardrobe, etc. Bed very cosy. Toilet very modern with large shower. Roof decorated in baroque-like painting. Breakfast buffet. Stuff very friendly, talkative, helpful. Internet included. Room warm and can stay in underwear in Winter.

Review 122:Not to be missed, fantastic hotel in a beautiful, traditional Sicilian town
