Reviews for Albergo Il Giglio
Review 1:The Hotel stays inside the city of Montalcino. You don't haver to pay for parking. I loved the choice. The room os very good. We received some small choco.
Review 2:Booking.com charged her a commission - which I reimbursed on duplicate reservations that I tried my best to cancel but booking's website is very difficult when you want to make a change, I will not use booking again unless they can make it right for me.
Review 3:Morning breakfast selection is limited
Review 4:Great location, adjacent parking and friendly staff. We had a wonderful time in Lucca. Highly recommend this property.
Review 5:This was the most special part of our Italian trip- and that's saying something considering we got engaged 4 days before our stay at Il Giglio! I cried during our meal- I felt like I was dreaming. Absolutely beautiful.
Review 6:The staff was helpful and efficient but aloof. This is a small complaint to what was otherwise a great stay.
Review 7:This is cozy bed & breakfast in the heart of Montalcino. Our room had a panoramic view of Tuscan wine country and the breakfast was excellent.
Review 8:Followed our GPS to get to the hotel. DON'T. Get better directions. Our room was up 2 flights of stairs. I would have liked to have been offered some help with my bags.
Review 9:Very nice room, very clean and the bed was comfy. . Great view Fantastic location. Breakfast was the best we had on our trip. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was a real treat. Don't miss it.
Review 10:The Hotel is beautiful and easy to get to. It is walking distance to the center of town. The owners and staff go out of their way to make sure you are happy. Would highly recommend this hotel and hope to return one day.
Review 11:The food was the best we had in Italy. I am now trying to replicate their torta de mele. Discovered a fantastic wine from their cellar. Perfectly located both in Montalcino and for exploring the countryside. View from our window now my husband's wallpaper. Everything simple but elegantly done without fuss.
Review 12:Bathroom very small with only a shower head over the bath. Difficult to park but owners did free valet parking. Very close to church bells which kept us awake but if you close the windows & put a/c on and you can't hear them.
Review 13:Beautiful room with fabulous character and fabulous view of the valley. Lovely helpful hosts. Lovely breakfast
Review 14:The rooms are very well done. Way above average bathrooms. Ours had a balcony with a spectacular view. The hotel restaurant is 4 star. Maybe 5. Parking is odd. But totally expected for this village on a hill in Tuscany. They do their best.
Review 15:Perfect location - in the heart of Montalcino. Great restaurant with high quality food and an extensive wine list. Clean and comfortable rooms with panoramic views. Owner also provides transport for day tours and transfers - very useful if you aren't hiring a car!
Review 16:Nothing negative to say.
Review 17:This is a lovely hotel. Our large comfortable room had a spectacular view of the Tuscan hills and the three windows provided a wonderful cross-breeze. The wood-beam and brick ceiling and the tile floor are beautiful. The breakfast of a variety of home made tortes, croissants, bread, cheeses, fruit and eggs was delicious and the dining area looks out over the hills. The dinners are also delicious. Try the semifreddie dessert. It is located near the center of lovely Montalcino. We stayed at Albergo il Giglio for 6 wonderful nights.
Review 18:1. Lack of enthusiasm from the proprietor. He seemed to have had a long and not particularly good season and it showed. Not a particularly warm welcome 2. Restaurant in the hotel was closed and at no time during the booking was this made clear. 3. Bed very hard
Review 19:1. Shower very easy to control 2. Decor very quaint 3. Coffee good 4. Location good 5. Views stupendous 6. Room warm
Review 20:Would say it's a personal preference - but beds a bit on the hard side for my preference.
Review 21:Views were stupendous - could see the whole valley Rooms were well appointed Restaurant was the best meal we had in Italy - wine list was one of the best wine lists I've ever seen People were just wonderful
Review 22:V little really. Kept awake by the bizarre Montalcino clock which chimed at odd times during the night, but not their fault!
Review 23:Charming little hotel - amazing views of Tuscany from room; top class restaurant/service. They also park your car for you.
Review 24:Nothing!
Review 25:The location was perfect to walk all of Montalcino and as a base to see wine country in the area. The owners were very helpful with things to see and do including a peek at their wine cellar. After we dropped our luggage off the car was valeted in local parking by the owners. We stayed only one night on a quick weekend trip, but will return next Fall for a longer stay. There is also a nice restaurant right on site which is good for those nights you don't want to walk far after dinner.

Review 52:The hotel is family run and they treat you like you are at home. The location of the hotel is perfect within walking of all the necessities of Montalcino. The owners are very accommodating and can organize wine tours for you if you ask them. We were planning on spending two nights here but we extended our stay to 5 because we like it here so much. We would definitely stay here again and encourage others to do so as well. This was a perfect home base to explore wonderful Tuscany.
Review 53:At first, the owner, Mario, was not the kindest person I've met. We asked about things to do in town, and he just said: go and see...later, from another person (the guy from the enoteca at fortezza), we knew that the hotel restaurant was the best, what we confirmed.
