Reviews for Le Dimore Dei Venti

Review 1:Scicli is one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited, it has fine food, the people are open and friendly, the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. This was our fourth or fifth stay in Le Dimore dei vent and every time we have been made very welcome by the owner. I simply can not recommend it too highly.

Review 2:The 13 minute walk into the centre of Scicli was hard in the extreme heat!

Review 3:The little house was full of character, in an interesting little cobbled street. Our friends had other houses and we sat together out and we met local residents also sitting outside, Not touristy. Extremely clean and comfortable and well equipped.

Review 4:If you have heavy bags, as we did for a 6 week trip, the steps to the apartment are a bit of a challenge. Kitchen facilities are somewhat basic (there is no bench space or cupboard for food storage). Attention to maintenance is desirable (dripping air conditioner, exhaust fan cover falling off.) The air conditioner did not cool the bedroom which is upstairs.

Review 5:Scicli is our favourite Baroque town, and is well located for visits to other towns and the beach. The location is excellent for exploring old Scicli, including the cave dwellings. Sandra was very helpful when we arrived in the middle of a wedding at the nearby church! The local people, and especially the local market staff, were very friendly.

Review 6:This is not a complaint, just information: It was not a problem for usbut you will need a car to get there and to get around. Parkingoutside is very limited so nearest street is 2 minutes walk and thereare steep steps.

Review 7:This is a delightful cottage in a lovely town with a good choice ofrestaurants and 17th Century architecture. Small shop nearby withbutchers/grocers in town centre about 10 minutes walk away . Theowner was wonderfully helpful and the place was spotlessly clean witheverything you need supplied. You can sit outside and just take in thewonderful atmosphere of charming Scicli. Also well located for exploringthe surrounding area. An authentic taste of Sicily, unspoilt and un-commercialised. We are just looking for the chance to return!

Review 8:Barking digs were a problem.

Review 9:Fantastic vault for money.

Review 10:ELISA was absolutely lovely & very informative about the local area

Review 11:Norhing

Review 12:The quirkiness and authenticity - also the very helpful staff.

Review 13:Very relaxing place . Elisa the manager was very welcoming & friendly . We are looking forward to our return visit .

Review 14:Too many barking dogs in the valley.

Review 15:Loved everything. The house was perfect, the town was picturesque.

Review 16:All was good

Review 17:Location was perfect within walking distance of town. Sandra the owner was very helpful with everything. We would return.

Review 18:Nothing

Review 19:Location

Review 20:Very nice decorated. Good bed.Easy parking. Within walking distance of centre of town

Review 21:High moisture in the house. No english instructions for TV. Much noise in house of appliancies

Review 22:Beautiful Scicli, no wonder it's a World Heritage site. The studio is in a quiet area surrounded by rock face hills and other small properties. Built into a cave, it was 'small but perfectly formed' - and our ten month old dog was made just as welcome as we were. Perfect! Sandra, the host, was a perfect in her role and helped us throughout our break with finding a mechanic and car hire when our car failed on arrival. Highly recommended as a rental property. Thank you again Sandra!

Review 23:Our stay here was a highlight of Sicily. The apartment was in a good spot, with plenty of parking nearby. Well equipped & clean. Old part of town close by.

Review 24:- too small boiler, however re-warms up quickly - no enough cupboards / storage space for guests' things - too many post-granny-lovely-making atmosphere-things (but my wife was very happy with all of them and taking pictures) - scary water scarcity warning (just put more tanks on the roof if there is a problem. We didn't experienced any water shortage however, despite using dishwasher, washing machine and washing our boys properly.) - driving, car parking and motoring in Scicli is really for people with balls! I enjoyed but it is a warning. My wife was sick with worries. Make sure you booked the car no wider than 1.8m, otherwise you will not reach home on Saturdays :) VW Golf barely did the trick and you need skills. Rule: poor drivers stay home. Best driver at the family should be at the wheel. Locals are suicidal or they don't know any rules of road at all. Drive slowly in cities especially in Scicli - streets are very narrow and visibility around the corner is close to none. - the place must be very hot in summer but the beach in Donnalucata is quite close to Scicli or you may hide in a cave restaurant beside. - no key to the master bedrom! Kids may come... Nowhere to hide for sex if they don't sleep. Roof distantly but overlooked... - no kettle! No need for electric, just buy one with a whistle from IKEA for 10 euro... - no grill. Get single-use set from any supermarket. It would really add joy to the entertainment on the roof... - WiFi coverage could be better but it was catching in kitchen

Review 25:- Scicli !!! Is absolutely lovely, beautiful and not overcrowded. - Hoot of owls at night - Sandra the receptionist - very nice and caring - lovely place on the roof, we slept there few times or were watching stars - really romantic place - kids had their fun (two boys: 5 and 7) running up and down and playing on the roof - total silence at night even on the roof - Scicli is warm, even hot due to inland location (at the begining of May) - farmland surroundings and beautiful views on every trip around - I would come back, one week is not enough for this part of Sicily - grocery just few steps from the house, fresh fruits and bakery brought every day by the sellers - well equipped kitchen and good gas cooker - dishwasher, washing machine, microwave oven - sunbeds on the roof - wine waiting for us

Review 26:Le Dimore dei venti is a daring idea to transform several old houses in a comfortable accommodation and the result is absolute success. Stilish renovation with exceptional attention to the smallest detail.

Review 27:Fantastic location, perfect design, ideal staff. What's not to like!!! If I came to this coast again, I would stay here and drive to other places. Nothing matches Scicli and this accomodation in Sicily!

Review 28:There is not a lot of space and therefore not really adapted for small children (two floors). Unfortunately no baby cots available.

Review 29:Located in a very nice place of Scicli, with amazing atmosphere and views. We appreciated the small terrace with a view on the old Scicli. The owner is very friendly.

Review 30:Mind your head when using the sink which is under the stairs. Whilst there was plenty of parking and not a problem for us it is a short walk and steps from the apartment which again could be a problem for those with a mobility problem.

Review 31:Situated in a quiet area of the town with a good local shop, easy to walk into town. The apartment we had was ideal for 2 people who want to experience a traditional home with modern conveniences, we did not think it suitable for those with children or mobility problems. More than 2 people in this apartment would be difficult. We had a wonderful stay.

Review 32:Unfortunately (and hopefully this can be sorted out for future guests) there was a very strong smell of sewage in the downstairs area so much so that I struggled to sleep. Also, we ha nightly visits by giant cockroaches and eventually I joined my friend upstairs on the mezzanine as that seemed to be ok. Big shame about those two issues but if that can be fixed then it would be great place to stay. (the lady who seems to run these apartments didn't seem to speak English and I would have had to contact her on my mobile and try to explain the problem in my poor Italian, for three nights only we chose not to bother.)

Review 33:This little studio apartment seems to be similar to the little one-room places many locals live in and as such was interesting to stay in. Enough space for two people. Excellent location in lovely Scicli which is a perfect base for explroing the area but also nice in itself. Easy parking very nearby.

Review 34:You have to walk up quite a few steps with the luggage and Internet is only available on an ethernet connection. Also, the GPS directs you down a tiny street that will not fit most cars/

Review 35:The location is breathtaking and the volume of history amazing

Review 36:From the lovely welcome from "Mrs Sandra" to the time we left the whole stay was superb.Unique appartements in quiet area with everything you would need available.Lovely town easy access to several places of interest.Highly recommend.

Review 37:Lovely quaint conversions of old properties tucked away in old part of Scicli. You need to be able to climb steps to get to them. Walking distance of historic centre and piazzas.

Review 38:The setting was breath-taking! Though the house was quite small, it wasvery comfortable: each couple had their own bed-and bathrooms. A bottleof very fine Nero d'Avola was awaiting us at arrival and Sandra gaveus a very warm welcome. There is also more than enough free parkingspace in the main street below. It was the most beautiful (ànd one ofthe most budget-friendly) stay of our tour around the island.

Review 39:Noting. Everything was perfect.

Review 40:The house is situated in a great location. The city is wonderfull and really there are many things who have to seeing. The lady is very friendly and always ready to respond to help you. In the house was everything you need.

Review 41:Once you work out the one-way streets, and drive Italian-style, it's fine but if you're tired from travelling, it can play on the nerves a little. so be kind to yourself and relax. Italians know how to brake and how to forgive poor driving.

Review 42:Sandra our host was lovely, helpful, friendly and happy to practise her English. We loved Scicli as a place to stay for a few days, a side canyon pouring out beautiful old buildings, narrow lanes, a million steps. Parking close by was easy, the ambience peaceful. En route to the centre, a shortish stroll, is a small supermarket. Everyone was courteous and embraced us as Australians. We will definitely return - it's central to many lovers of Montalbano sites.

Review 43:1) My husband could not sleep because the flashing light of the ac kept him awake (I eventually found that by pressing the sleep button takes away the flashing light) 2) Lack of cooking utensils (E.G. bread knife, teflon, kettle) 3) Only 1 internet cable Notes for other travelers:1) We felt the ground floor of the apartment (kids rooms/dining cum kitchen area) was too small for the 4 of us staying there for a week with 3 weeks of luggage 2) I realised too late that check-in closes 8pm and I had to confirm check-in time, and by the time we realised it, we were literally flying on the highway because the owner told us that check-in closes 8pm and that he can't guarantee our reservation (which was paid in full) if we don't arrive before then. After a few text messages, and driving at the speed of light, we managed to check-in @ 8h30pm 3) Stairs to the apartment, so not for the frail Having said this, we would stay here again!

Review 44:1) Scicli is awesome - off-the-beaten track and you feel like the only tourists! 2) The apartment is in a 'residential' area, interior seems brand new 3) Apartment has a washing machine and dishwasher 4) Nice location, in old town and short walk to town centre

Review 45:A wifi connection (instead of the available cable) would be nice, especially for mobile devices.

Review 46:We particularly liked the typical environment surrounding the house (behind a church). Very nice waking up with this view ! The house has been recently renovated, so all equipment is brand new and beautiful. Ideal for two people.

Review 47:It is just charming! Tiny little, cosy and great. Real bargain forthat money. Excellent design and there is everything you need! Plusinternet line for free. Strongly recommended . Scicli, the town isjust a fairy-tale

Review 48:Butas kalno šlaite. Senamiestis saugomas UNESCO.

Review 49:steps

Review 50:Good for visiting the lovely city.

Review 51:Although lovely, flat was a little dark.

Review 52:Everything! Excellent treatment from staff and the bicycles and free Wi-Fi were a bonus!

Review 53:Very difficult to find.

Review 54:Atmosphere of accommodation and location.

Review 55:Very trendy, cute apartments. We really enjoyed our stay.

Review 56:Scicli is a superb town to be based in- full of character, and so was Dimore Dei Venti

Review 57:Great spot all around.
