Reviews for Hotel Café Restaurant Abina

Review 1:All the staff were friendly and happy to help. The bar had a great atmosphere and very friendly clientele. Overall a great weekend had by me and my friends.

Review 2:Very old house, strange and awkward smelling rooms, very loud music in the bar downstairs until 1 in the night.breakfast was ok but tables were stickig from last night's beer

Review 3:nice staff

Review 4:Low cost room with facilities near schiphol airport amsterdam Very kind and patient woman running the bar who let me in even though none of my cards would work Life saving free breakfadt in yhe morning

Review 5:Very authentic Amsterdam experience though located in the suburbs. The cleanliness is not as good as a strict hotel, but this is more than a hotel. It is a local gathering place. You get more than what you pay for. Compare what you would pay for a hotel in Amsterdam. Places like this have been gentrified in Amsterdam, so if you are more of a traveler than a tourist, go for it.

Review 6:A little bit noisy, because ground floor is bar. No bath. It is possible, but not very easy to arrive there by public bus, need to change buses once. (Bus drivers were very kind.)

Review 7:No other choice around schiphol airport. Stafs are kindly prepared early morning taxi to the airport.

Review 8:- WC/Shower was shared between the whole floor, many of the inhabitants did not clean after themselves - More or less only bread during breakfast

Review 9:- Price

Review 10:It was above a pub with live music ,so it is expected to a bit noisy..so take that into consideration when booking. But to be fair ,this place does advertise itself as a pub..so nothing hidden.

Review 11:Staff were very friendly,helpful..a great atmosphere in the pub..with live music at weekend on to about 1.30am. The young lady ,very kindly booked a taxi at 06.45 Sunday morning(only there one night for airport flight) when my one pre-booked (schripol airport taxi never turned up so don't use them, use the one that the hotel will book for you)-so thank you to that nice lady..(don't know her name)for her assistance..

Review 12:toilet outside on the landing next to the room, no one showed us where the shower/washing facilities where. the room was an apartment in a building next to the hotel. the staff ignored us for a long time, for breakfast we got pointed to it and told to sit anywhere - no one came across

Review 13:nothing

Review 14:1. Single room is too small, it fits only a narrow bed, a sink and a chair, even nowhere to put clothes. 2. The bed is too soft. 3. In the room was a persistent smell of cigarette smoke. My request for a room change was rejected. I was able to air the room only after a night with the window open. 4. The hotel is located quite far from the city, the way to the center of Amsterdam takes about an hour.

Review 15:1. They give bikes for rent, the price is the same, like in the city. 2. Excellent breakfast, which helps to save on food during the day. 3. I liked the restaurant, I can recommend the ribs. 4. Quiet and beautiful suburb, close to the wonderful forest. 5. Direct bus to the airport. 6. Direct bus to the center of Amsterdam

Review 16:not really serviced well by public transport although main bus route to amsterdam is only a 10 minute walk away. Or if you want to be fit, hire a bike off the hotel

Review 17:Good friendly staff in a traditional bar with excellent restaurant - ribs, steaks, mussels

Review 18:No bad experience, just be prepared for the late night revellers in the hotel below, which the hotel warns you about.

Review 19:Liked staying in Amstelveen - quiet neighbour, close to parks and away from the business of Amsterdam.

Review 20:Rooms were small and tv was very old (In fact ours did not work but the staff refunded some of our money because of this) not even basics like a hair dryer... For seventy euros a night one would expect more!!

Review 21:The staff was very helpful and the rooms were clean!! BreakfSt was decent as well,

Review 22:Our room was at the top of the hotel, lots of steep staircases, not good with my asthma, but Thomas ? was kind enough to carry my bag to the room for me.

Review 23:Good food and atmosphere. Great staff.

Review 24:A bit far from the city with expensive transport. No coffee other than with breakfast

Review 25:It was very pleasant and the staff were friendly Superb breakfast and amazing shower!

Review 26:9€ for a 0,5 lt beer seems a bit too expensive even for Amsterdam...

Review 27:The position is good if you don't mind walking 2 km for the metro station. It was good for us, so we could park the car for free in front of the hotel, and then walk to the metro. Many restaurants around, pub and restaurant also down the hotel. The all-you-can-eat spare ribs were amazing!!

Review 28:Sharing a bathroom was obnoxious, and the hotel smelled like cigarettes even though we stayed in a non-smoking room. It took us 1 hour and 20 euros round to get into Amsterdam every day. Would like to have stayed closer or taken a bike.

Review 29:This hotel provided free wifi and free breakfast which was nice. They also offer bike rental which we didn't use but would like to in the future.

Review 30:The bar is loud but the doors and floors between you are downstairs cancel it out well. So not bad really.

Review 31:Value for money was great, better room than expected, basic but comfortable, good selection of simple breakfast food and drink too.

Review 32:Would have liked breakfast to have a 2nd or later sitting to enable sleep after a late night.

Review 33:Hotel was clean, staff were ok, rooms were tidy, all good. A 20min ride into central Amsterdam, but bikes hired were really good and got us around just fine

Review 34:40 min by bus to Amsterdam centre, certain smell in the rooms, low quality bathroom, but this corresponds to the prive of 47 eur

Review 35:great people, very friendly bar tender, excellent food, nice parties

Review 36:I was fully satisfied with all aspects of this accomodation and wouldhave no hesitation in recommending this establishment.

Review 37:I liked the breakfast 'window' of time being served as itenabled a longer lie in if required. The continental style breakfast wasself service and again it suited our needs. Our room was in a flatacross the road from the Abina and suited us as you were away from thepossible noise from the pub/restaurant. The accomodation was roomy, clean and comfortable and the en suite was modern and had a bath with ashower spray overhead.

Review 38:There was only one toilette and bathrome on the floor. on the other hand it did not meen any problem in the practice.

Review 39:Everything was all right, except one little thing...

Review 40:The beds weren't very comfortable and it wasn't very clean.

Review 41:The room was across the street, which was nice (not noisy above the cafe, large rooms) and close to the forest.

Review 42:It was pretty warm as it was height of summer and the room didn't have any fans. Windows were left open thou and it wasn't too noisy.

Review 43:The Abina was in an ideal location for what we, as a group of young friends, were using it for. We were attending Dekmantel music festival in nearby Amsterdam Bos Park so it was perfect as the hotel is located on the edge of this park. Our rooms were clean as were the showering facilities and the food was also decent. Value for money for what we got. Will probably book it for next year also

Review 44:It has a bar inside, so it is very noisy until 3:00 am It didn't have AC so it gets very warm inside the room. Too much expensive taking into account that bathroom and shower was shared.

Review 45:Size of the room

Review 46:Great value for money. The area is quiet and very relaxing. The staff is very helpful, nice and they make you fell home. The food is great and the atmosphere in the bar is very chilled. It's 20 mins walk from bus station, you have a bus stop 10 mins walk from the hotel that will drive you to Amsterdam centre.

Review 47:friendly staff, good locational close to forest, perfect for travelling with dogs.

Review 48:All was ok

Review 49:Reasonable Much better than what I expected for that price

Review 50:I was very happy in all the people were friendly and my room was clean and was all I needed. I will stay next time I'm back. Good value.

Review 51:Friendly staff, very clean and excellent food

Review 52:The receptionist is good and cheerful

Review 53:poor light in the room old shower very simple breakfast

Review 54:staff very friendly

Review 55:Amazing restaurant downstairs.

Review 56:the room was quite basic (nowhere to hang your towels) and the loos were the old-fashioned type

Review 57:pleasant staff, lively bar and good food

Review 58:Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 59:Very dirty and iunpleasent smell in apartmant

Review 60:Early check out

Review 61:The property is away from the city but an amazing place to be at night!

Review 62:noisy cus the bar isn't closed until 2am

Review 63:Free WIFI

Review 64:Room was very very basic. Lack of pillows. Little choice at breakfast. No metro stop near hotel

Review 65:Friendly staff

Review 66:Service,beds thin walls

Review 75:A shared bathroom, but a separate sink in the room

Review 76:Two single beds pushed together not a double bed

Review 77:The bartender

Review 78:Yes i have a bad experience

Review 79:I dont like what i saw.

Review 80:It is a kilometre from public transport (bus).

Review 81:Reasonable walk to work.

Review 82:all not good

Review 83:no thing

Review 84:Very Helpful staff

Review 85:lack of international TV channels

Review 86:Warm atmosphere at the pub

Review 87:for good price, no problem personal. nice bar at night and delish breakfast.

Review 88:Far from Amsterdam.

Review 89:Nice restaurant and bar attached.

Review 90:Cheap bed. 3x2 room. Primative. Del toilet/shower. Terrible compressor noise from 11am to11pm. No table.

Review 91:The lokaler

Review 92:The only cupboard in the room was half destroyed. No soap available in the common bath.

Review 93:It was realy very clean.

Review 94:Food at the cafe was excellent, as was the atmosphere

Review 95:There could be a shelf in the shower. Something where you can put the shampoo etc.

Review 96:Location

Review 97:Music from the bar downstairs can be heard in the rooms

Review 98:Cheap, easy to reach from Amsterdam city centre

Review 99:hard to find the slot for Your car on parking...

Review 100:close to shops, breakfast

Review 101:mediocre breakfast, some female staff were rude, rooms could do with air con

Review 102:clean, good atmosphere, great price, amazing steaks

Review 103:The staff were very kind and helpful, the rooms had big windows with nice views of the town and the beds were very comfortable.

Review 104:I was warned about the possibility of social noise (bar/club) which was basically OK. However there was a loud air conditioning unit or similar (probably specifically a problem for my room, 9) which was a pain, though it did switch off in the early hours

Review 105:It was a no frills option, (priced accordingly), near to where I needed to be, which was important. The shared facilities were clean and functional. Provided I wasn't in room 9 I'd stay there again.

Review 106:Staircase very steep and difficult to get your luggage in and out of the building. Customers at bar very noisy and only quite in the early morning hours.

Review 107:Friendly staff, and willing to accommodate earlier than booked

Review 108:Carpets stained and need replacing badly. Walls very thin, could hear everything next door.

Review 109:Bed linen and towels good quality and spotlessly clean. Staff very helpful.

Review 110:Quite expensive over Easter weekend. Very noisy disco till 3 am on Friday and Saturday nights. The noise came up the floor to our second floor room and rocked the beds. Earplugs did not help much. Why do they have music so loud?

Review 111:Comfortable beds. Nice unsuite. Good breakfast. Good safe area with park nearby. Easy from schiphol get bus 300 to local bus station then bus 170 or 172 or 174 or walk 1 mile

Review 112:The general condition of the room and corridors were poor, carpets very badly stained {looked like bleach had been spilt and faded colour} . I think that the hotel facilities could do with a serious upgrade.

Review 113:The bar area was pleasant and food was of good standard.

Review 114:The towels had holes in them. If you want to sleep, the party in the bar is not as nice. Bring earplugs! One of the 2 rooms we booked was smelly, with moldy walls. No tea at breakfast. Difficult to reach with public transport. It's simply too expensive for what you get.

Review 115:The restaurant was good, good food and the staff was friendly. Bar was a great party! Close to the forest

Review 116:Samll but ok

Review 117:Nice people and good food in the Restaurant but Ok for the price if juststaying the night close to the airport. Taxi was 35 Euros one way. Roomsvery small,

Review 118:Would have liked more choice at Breakfast maybe fruit and Yogurts would have been nice

Review 119:The location suited my purpose as was watching cricket at VRA Grounds in Amstelveen Bos.

Review 120:An expensive bus ride from the main part of Amsterdam.

Review 121:We were in need of a one night stay in Amsterdam at very short notice. This hotel was in our price bracket and was sufficient. The restaurant was really full. Did not eat there but there must be a very good chef.

Review 122:The transportation card for Amsterdam does not apply to Amstelveen.

Review 123:This place was the most amazing place with the most amazing people EVER. We were so tired when we got in and the person that received us was very helpful. He even gave us an umbrella when it started to rain.

Review 124:Quite a lengthy bus ride into the centre of amsterdam. Not really aproblem for us as such a short trip and it wasnt our priority butmight be a downer for someone specifically wanting to be near thehubbub of amsterdam

Review 125:Staff very helpful - suited our needs to be reachable from Schipol andfrom the amsterdam arena.

Review 126:Only one kind of jam for breakfast (yes I'm an annoying vegan) and thin toilet paper - rest was great.

Review 127:Location - really close to the forest - not in the city of Amsterdam! We rented bikes and had an amazing time. If I come back to Amsterdam, then I'll stay in this hotel!

Review 128:Noise from the disco (although we were warned when we booked, so not really a complaint!)

Review 129:Excellent location for what we wanted - EHL Hockey at Wagener Stadium. Good food in the restaurant. Mostly friendly staff. Good value for money.

Review 130:We had a room which was filthy, the nightstand seemed rotten, thestaff wasn't friendly. The noise : music until 4 am. The toilets paperwas burned and dirty. The wallpaper was falling from the walls, THesheets were dirty (smells of dust and hairs not from us.) Mosquitos inthe room (dead and alive) (in autumn time it's weird.) Brokens Doors(the closets and our hotel room one which didn't close). Smells ofsmoking even in the non smoking room. The stairs were dangerous (noteasy with suitcase). The Hotel asked us 3 more Euro for "tourismTaxes" so we end up paying 62.30 instead of the 59 from Booking (Which included taxes already).

Review 131:It was close to the p60 but we had to walk 15 minutes. It was cheap.

The Fine Print

Please note that in the weekend starting around 11pm you might experience loud music from the bar-dancing downstairs.
