Reviews for Hotel Granvia Hiroshima
Review 1:This hotel is adjacent to Shinkansen Station, thus, it is super convenient to visit from Tokyo. The sightseeing buses also stop in front of the bus. The shower had great water pressure and the front desk people were nice.
Review 2:Nothing at all!!!
Review 3:Big rooms, multiple dining options, convenient location with direct internal connection to Hiroshima station, bus stop right in front of hotel that takes you to all the popular tourist spots around the city!
Review 4:Room is really small and even unable to open lugguage. I could even pay lower rate to stay another hotel for bigger room. Not worth to stay at this rate.
Review 5:Good location
Review 6:It was slightly more expensive than other similar hotels.
Review 7:Location - it's literally in front of the main station. The staff were welcoming and the room was clean.
Review 8:Twin room was very small, so we couldn't do things at the same time. Otherwise excellent.
Review 9:Location at station for side trips, ease with luggage, and jr pass free shuttle bus to main sites from there.
Review 10:Location, location, location....Just fall off the "Shinkansen" in to your hotel attached to the train station. Great value for money. Luxury hotel. Local transport trams/bus/trains on your doorstep.
Review 11:No public baths provided in this hotel, i hope it can further improve in near future.
Review 12:Superbly convenient near the Hiroshima Station, comfortable rooms.
Review 13:n/a
Review 14:Convenience to JR transport for side trips to Miyajima and Iwakuni, as well as arrival/departure via Shinkansen. The local tourist bus (Red Line) was just outside the entrance to the hotel.
Review 15:Not much, except that the double room that we stayed in for the first night was really too small.
Review 16:A clean and comfortable hotel - but make sure you don't have a small-sized double room which is really too small for a couple and was what we got on the first night. Fortunately Mr Sako of the Front Desk helped us to change to a twin room for the next 2 nights - a much larger room and comfortably furnished with sofa/chairs and a small coffee table, and even with better-quality toiletries provided. It is worth the extra dollars spent. The location of the hotel is excellent, just next to the airport shuttle bus terminal, the city tourist bus terminal, the JR Hiroshima station and the tram terminal. And there are many restaurants and shops nearby. Quite a few staff can speak reasonable English which made things easier for us. Concierge as well as front desk staff were generally friendly and helpful, and housekeeping fulfilled requests very promptly. Overall, an excellent hotel and we will certainly stay in this hotel again if we come back to Hiroshima.
Review 17:Staff were excellent, concierge escorted us off property to show us the way to a local attraction. Size of room was very spacious, amenities were current, modern and practical. Best during our 2 week vacation. Location is excellent with entrance direct from train station.
Review 18:FRONT DESK STAFF NOT ACCOMODATING. ASKED FOR A LATE CHECK OUT SINCE WE ARRIVED AT THE HOTEL ALMOST 9PM ALREADY BUT INSTEAD WAS BEING ASKED TO FORK OUT MORE MONIES.
Review 19:BELL STAFF TRIED THEIR BEST TO ANSWER QUESTIONS THOUGH THEY SPEAK VERY LIMITED ENGLISH
Review 20:Under construction at the time of our visit; so finding the entrance wasn't easy. The ground floor doesn't exit to a major road. Uninspiring view from the room.
Review 21:Connected to the train station. Clean & attractive facilities. Helpful and attentive staff.
Review 22:Great location at main station with local tour bus at door. Breakfast expensive but other restaurants good value for the quality of meal provided. Lots of eating options around hotel as well. Room very well presented.
Review 23:Well, just like most hotels in Japan, the room is quite small by American standard.
Review 24:Location, location & location. The BEST location of all the hotels in Hiroshima since it is just above and/or connected to the Hiroshima station. And their rates are also good compared to other hotels.
Review 25:The hotel is very convenient for the station, but the centre of town is 20 minutes walk or a bus/taxi ride. Taxis are cheap and plentiful though, so I don't think this is a problem!
Review 26:Very well appointed hotel situated right next to Hiroshima's main Shinkansen station. High quality rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Excellent price for this high quality.
Review 27:Small room - we were glad we had forwarded our large suitcases - and rather tired decor, particularly in comparison with the Hotel Granvia in Kyoto that we had just left.
Review 28:The location right over Hiroshima Station and with direct access to shinkansen, local trains to Miyajima and the sightseeing loop bus.
Review 29:Only English TV station BBC news.
Review 30:The room was large the location next to the station was fantastic. Supper easy to find resterants at any level to eat. Bus in front the hotel to the major sites
Review 31:No longer used to smoking in bars which makes eating and socialising uncomfortable. May be time to have a no smoking bar
Review 32:Very convenient for rail travellers. Friendly and helpful staff
Review 33:whilst part of the station, you are a bit away from the city centre.
Review 34:location right in the railway station, with loop bus stop right outside. Reasonable size room, nice & bright, with good bath/shower room. Spotlessly clean, & excellent Wi-Fi. Air- con was effective & quiet.
Review 35:Breakfast is not included, there was little place for luggage in the room and every little thing which seemed like regular utilities (teabags) were priced.
Review 36:Absolutely perfect location. Room is nice as expected from the price range, and we also had a really nice view from the room.
Review 37:Room was small but perfectly adequate for a solo traveller.
Review 38:Location. Free tour bus from outside if you have a JR Pass. Newspaper. Very good bathroom and amenities.
Review 39:Right by the station and the touring bus for all the places to visit in town. Very pleasant building and helpful staff. Rooms comfortable and quiet.
Review 40:Room was small, but we booked a budget double so to be expected.
Review 41:Very handy location close to the station. We left out bags there overnight when we stayed on Miyajima. Not so great for sightseeing as you need to take a tram to the A-bomb dome etc. The bars and restaurants are good, especially happy hour at the Mayflower!
Review 42:Breakfast options limited to pricey hotel buffet.
Review 43:Conveniently located adjacent to the train station. Easy access to city trams and JR trains. Quiet rooms.
Review 44:Nothing
Review 45:Everything was perfect, including the room was bigger than the rest where we have been. Staff was extremely kind and helpful, breakfast was rich, you can choose between western and Japanese. The hotel is next to the train station, very convenient for day trips, the mall over the station offers shopping and restaurants. You will find everything there!
Review 46:At the monet there's a lot of construction work happening as there was in Nov 14, so getting to the southern end from the hotel takes a bit of juggling
Review 47:Excellent location, adjacent to the Shinkansen exit gate.north side. Staff very helpful and friendly
Review 48:Rooms were quite small.
Review 49:The location was extremely convenient -- basically right at the station. Lobby area was very nice. Rooftop dining area offered nice view. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable.
Review 50:While the location was not close to the Peace Park, the JR bus (free with our JR Pass) stopped right in front of the hotel and made our transportation to the historic sights easy. Because it was connected to the train station, we had a very convenient connection to Miyajima from this hotel also.
Review 51:Nothing, all perfect.
Review 52:Best location ever - conjoined to the JR Hiroshima Station - couldn't be any easier. There is an entrance just next to the Shinkansen gates. Comfortable room, a lot of good shops around for convenience. Plus the Meipuru-pu (Maple-oop) route start from right outside the hotel.
Review 53:The breakfast was rather expensive so we skipped it.
Review 54:The facility was beautiful and the staff helpful. The location was excellent; walking distance to the stadium and a tourist bus comes to the front door.
Review 55:Expensive breakfast and dinner
Review 56:Very close to Shinkansen station, Quiet room (no train sounds), City Loop bus (free for Japan Railpass holders) stops at hotel front
Review 57:Double bed was against the wall which is a bit awkward when there are two of you. Minor problem since we only stayed 2 nights
Review 58:Fantastic location. Very close to train station and to the loop bus which goes to the main tourist attractions and is free with a JR pass. Very easy access to a range of eating places both cheap and more expensive.
Review 59:Staff are nice, location is excellent as it is just besides JR station. The rooms is comparetively smaller than the one I lived in a few years before (although I have upgraded my room this time), but the size is quite enough for us. Suggest to put some more chair in the lobby, as I found that always have some oldies standing since all the chair are occupied by other oldies or parent with children. Will consider to stay in this hotel next time we go to Hiroshima.
Review 60:The pillows, but that's not the hotels fault, I think it is a traditional design used in Japan. I can't think of any the bad to say about it.
Review 61:The hotel is excellent location and quality, even the elevated view over the station was good, watching life come and go. The rooms are adequate for a couple of days.
Review 62:Total 6 family members were divided into two rooms. Little bit too crowded between beds and desk area.
Review 63:Lcation, location and location!!! Staff was very helpful. Grandchildren loved tanabata display and explanation of the festival.
Review 64:The hotel was a little further away from the Peace Memorial Park end of town than I would have liked. It was somewhat expensive for around $100NZD a night. But that's Japan.
Review 65:The Hotel Granvia was extremely comfortable. The room was small but very well decorated/appointed. I was pleasantly surprised. Very close to the Shinkansen station.
Review 66:No bad experiences. No better hotel in Hiroshima for the price or location.best value
Review 67:Excellent hotel, perfect location if using JR train. Red mapurupu bus stops at hotel for easy access to main sights in Hiroshima. Staff is profesional. Hotel is very clean and beautiful.
Review 68:Business room computers were not in sync with English users. Had a very hard time.
Review 69:As a first time visitor to Hiroshima, we were apprensive about how to get around. Hotel Granvia solved those fears because of it's convenient location.
Review 70:Our booking had been partially cancelled, despite the fact we had prepaid. We had to insist and get angry in order to get our room and we felt we had then been given worst room (right beside the elevator - noisy all night) as a result. The staff did not even apologise about their stuff up. Luckily, I had an email confirmation from them which I was able to show to prove my booking
Review 71:The ease of travelling out from the hotel
Review 72:The current construction around the station area makes finding the hotel abit difficult, it took us awhile to find it & it's actually next to the station.
Review 73:Arrived early & left our luggage with them. The Front desk asked us what time we'll be back at hotel for check in. I found it strange when he emphasised if 2pm was the time we will reached the hotel. Upon check in, was pleasantly surprised that our luggages were already brought up to the room, not only that, the lift automatically picked up your floor when you scanned the card. I've checked in 6 hotels during this Japan trip & this is the only hotel where they provide such conveniences to guests.
Review 74:Wonderful Hotel. Very clean and well maintained. The sight seeing bus to hiroshima peace memorial stops right in front of the hotel. Train station is next to the hotel. Cant ask for more :)
Review 75:5 minutes walk to the shinkenshan and tourist bus, very helpful and polite staff, and a comfortable and clean room which was large for a Japanese hotel. Very convenient place when staying at Hiroshima and everything you would expect from a 4 star hotel
Review 76:You can catch the tourist bus in front of the hotel and explore the city, the train station is 5 minutes from the hotel do you can catch the train to Miyajima.
Review 77:Location! It is at the railway station, Great! With a hop on hop of bus, right in front of the hotel. And free if you have a JR railpass... Nice! Don't forget to visit the bar downstairs, very Nice place and happy hour (50% off) if you are a hotel guest ;)
Review 78:Room had a slight musky smell when entering but it was manageable.
Review 79:Room was clean and had all of the usual amenities. Located directly next to the station made it easy to plan sightseeing.
Review 80:The free-with-railpass city hop-on-off buses are right outside the door, and being attached to the station there's plenty of reasonable food nearby in addition to the easy access.
Review 81:None
Review 82:Hotel located on Hiroshima station. Good for the Shinkansen travellers. At the front of the hotel there is a HOP ON - HOP OFF bus stop. Great if you have the Japan Rail Pass as buses are free of charge.
Review 83:Staff Engilsh level of commands needs to be improved,
Review 84:location is excellent accessible through Hiroshima JR Station, well equiped, clean , well serviced Hotel
Review 85:the room was small no international channels on tv you have to buy movies if you want to watch the breakfast was expensive no bottles of water in the room good for one or two nights
Review 86:the staff and the service the location
Review 87:Hotel Granvia Hiroshima is conveniently connected to the JR Hiroshima station. It was a little bit difficult to locate at first because of the construction occurring around the JR Hiroshima station, but once we found it, it was easy to get back to. The sightseeing loop bus stop was right outside the hotel which was super convenient, and within a 15 minute walking distance from the Mazda Zoom Zoom station if you want to catch a baseball game. We would definitely stay here again!
Review 88:The room was clean and fitted with modern furnishings. As with most Japanese hotels, the rooms are small- however, this hotel was very comfortable. The hotel can be accessed from the JR Station and there is a free JR hop on/hop off bus that collects you from the bus depot outside the hotel that will assist you in accessing the sites easily.
Review 89:The hotel provided very good buffet food and very comfortable rooms at a very reasonable price. It was next to the station which was very convenient, yet it was very quiet. The staff were very helpful when I left part of my camera behind in the room.
Review 90:Easy location from the station, lovely staff and clean facilities.just wish it had been walking distance from downtown hiroshima. Brilliant place, a tad pricey however i would reccomend!
Review 91:Staff very efficient and friendly. English language and communication skills could be improved
Review 92:Location is perfect, hotel is fantastic value for money and we would recommend it without hesitation to couples and singles.
Review 93:The Wifi went down sometimes.
Review 94:Wow, the location is perfect for a 24-36 hour visit to Hiroshima. Arrive at the train station and never go outside. And the staff could not have been more helpful with holding luggage too.
Review 95:This hotel was a 3 minute walk from the shinkansen platform, on the main sightseeing bus route, and handy for Hiroshima's trams. The hotel is very comfortable and was reasonably priced. A good alternative to the Sheraton down the street.
Review 96:All the construction work going on around the hotel. But that was not the fault of the hotel.
Review 97:The hotel design it's staff, breakfast and the Chinese restaurant.
Review 98:nothing much
Review 99:as fancy as it looks from the pic, very convenient jump off the shinkansen and your there! baby cot was offered even we didnt ask for it with was a big bonus!
Review 100:the location is ok, on one hand it is practically on the hiroshima main train station but on the over hand it is 20 min walk/train to the peace park / market / museum
Review 101:the room itself was great - looks new, clean and big. the location is ok, on one hand it is practically on the hiroshima main train station but on the over hand it is 20 min walk/train to the peace park / market / museum we didnt have breakfast
Review 102:Difficult to navigate around all the nearby construction.
Review 103:Convenience...so close to the Shinkansen trains, JR lines and tram. Minutes away from all the sites I wished to visit.
Review 104:Due to the size of the hotel its a bit anonymous but the staff is nice and friendly so its no biog problem.
Review 105:The hotel is situated in the railway station so its easy to arrive and leave. Outside the entrance is a sightseeing bus (free for JR Pass holders) visiting the interesting parts of the city. Room is clean and spacy and we appreciated the free newspaper every morning.
Review 106:the wi fi dropped out too often. ended up using the LAN conection
Review 107:the overall position, and to the the rail station. the staff were always willing to help, in regards to are language and, directions
Review 108:The room offered enough space, bed was comfortable but the furniture was quite dated. For such a huge hotel quite strange that there is no gym available.
Review 109:Very convenient located next to the JR station and opposite the Red hop on hop off busses (included with JR pass). Staff was very friendly and as we were earlier than check in time, our luggage could be stored and was placed already in the room while checking in in the afternoon. The room was quite spacious and had a beautiful view on Hiroshima.
Review 110:the location is great, just at the train and bus station. Tour bus is available to take you to all the important spots in the city - very convenient. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Great sushi bar close to the hotel.
Review 111:So easy from the Shinkansen- followed signs from inside the station straight to the hotel. Also, free " loop" bus for tourists leaves directly from lobby exit( free for JR pass holders) Fab!
Review 112:As we were travelling through a lot of cities, having a hotel right in the station was ideal in saving valuable sightseeing time. The staff are fantastic, extremely diligent and polite. The hotel is immaculately kept, the rooms much larger than we expected and the views are wonderful. The hotel bars and restaurants are also great, with varying budgets to suit. Hands down the best hotel I've ever stayed in.
Review 113:We decided to eat in the restuarant we were the only people there. We we advised at 9 that if we wanted to order any more food we needed to do it then as the kitchen was closing but we had not even got our main course. When it did arrive on meal was offered with burnt noodles it was replaced overall a really bad experience no wonder the place was empty
Review 114:The reception was great nothing too much trouble although we wanted to print out our boarding passes the PC and the printer in the business centre failed to work we were directed to lap top but it was so slow we gave up
Review 115:There is nothing we didn't like. But when two of you travel, two suitcases or bags, which often need constant repacking, need two places in the room where you can put these down on a bench or stand, not on the floor. Just an idea.
Review 116:For us, the location at Hiroshima Station was excellent - so easy to access the trains from the hotel. The lobby was lovely and spacious which provides a nice feeling when the rooms are a lot smaller than perhaps we are used to. We really enjoyed our dinner at the Chinese restaurant one evening and your breakfasts were very good.
Review 117:Room was a little small but still good value.
Review 118:The bus from the airport stopped right outside the hotel and the hotel is adjacent to the train and bus stations. Staff are friendly and have good English. There are shops and hotels near by.
Review 119:Would have been nice to have one fluent english speaker on staff. Bed was hard, very stiff.
Review 120:Location was very convenient. Adequate facilities, friendly staff. Always nice to have onsite laundry.
Review 121:décor was a bit old fashion & dated. would have been nice to get some free bottles of water! No milk or coffee in the room.
Review 122:Location, close to hotel, spacious room which was very rare for our trip around japan, most rooms were small unless you are about 5ft and size 6-8woman! Almost a full size bath. The view from 54th floor was amazing!! Good to have a free shuttle bus to the Kansai Airport.
Review 123:No in-room safes, had to use one at the reception, but that worked quite smoothly.
Review 124:Very clean nicely located hotel, connected to the Shinkansen station. The JR tourist loop buses start from right outside. Saw an open top tourist bus stop here too. We had a couple of rooms on different floors. One room had toiletries and a full mini-bar with an ice machine on that floor. The other had minimal amenities no water bottle and an empty fridge with a drinks vending machine on this floor.
Review 125:The hotel is not sparkly new. The lobby was spacious but the decoration is kind of stuck in the 80s but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The place is clean and convenient!
Review 126:The location. It's right beside the station, practically connected through an indoor pathway. If you come to Hiroshima by train, this will be a very convenient place to stay! The city trams, the "me-pu-ru-pu bus" (Hiroshima's local hop-on-hop-off bus) and the airport busses all stop at the Hiroshima station so you can get around very easily from here. The rooms were also quite generous in size for a Japanese city hotel.
Review 127:Very small double bed (standard room) more like a big King single. But it sufficed. If u can afford to ... upgrade to the bigger bed or suite. Also construction just outside door was not pretty but didn't affect our stay.
Review 128:Good location right next to the Shinkansen (bullet train) train so very convenient. The free shuttle bus (city & tourist loop) is also right outside hotel. Taxi is also very convenient. We just took taxis in the evening. Great price for what you get. Service is friendly & always eager to please.
Review 129:room was too small; noisy street and construction site nearby
Review 130:The hotel is new; it can be accessed directly from the railway station; room was clean; staff speaks english
