Reviews for Hotel Sunroute Hiroshima

Review 1:Can't really think of anything I dislike. Other than the stiff pillows(which aren't really an issue).

Review 2:I enjoy the view of the river and the atomic bomb dome in the background. It's convenient to all the local stores and restaurants that make my experience in Japan a wonderful time.

Review 3:Short walk to Hiroshima memorial park and main street shops and shopping mall. not to many surrounding restaurants but short walk from convenience store. we had to get a taxi from Hiroshima station to the hotel as it is a decent walk.

Review 4:I totally agree with their guest option to not washing sheets and towels everyday, but I thought the maids would have at least remade the bed...isn't that part of the fee for a hotel room? Not a big deal though, overall this hotel was great.

Review 5:Fantastic location right next to the peace park and streetcar station, great view from upper storey apartment. Staff were friendly and room was clean and spacious.

Review 6:The first room I was assigned was stuffy and smelled like a chimney. Rooms ending in 02 and 07 did not have windows you can open to let fresh air in. Asking the reception for a fan to help with circulation reveals that either they had no idea what it is and didn't have one. They then reassigned me to a room with dirty sheets, after much fuss assigning me to a decent room.

Review 7:The location was very central and accessible.

Review 8:One counter staff is not helpful. He refused to help me post a pre-paid package even after requesting twice and insisted that I walked to nearest post office to post it.

Review 9:Its at a convenient location.

Review 10:Very close to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial (just walk across the bridge). The staff at the check-in desk was some of the friendliest I have ever encountered.

Review 11:Big rooms, I had to go to the dentist and the front desk called and arranged an appointment then gave me directions to get there. Comfortable beds, in-room massages - fantastic value for money. Staff were friendly and helpful. Didn't growl at us when we were 20mins late for checkout. Beautiful views from the room and very comfortable walking distance to shopping and sights. We are talking a few minutes.

Review 12:Fabulous position - close to important tourist sites plus near to restaurants & shopping. Great breakfast variety for all tastes & cultures with spectacular views to the Peace Park & Dome.

Review 13:The desk staff was not very friendly or helpful. In fact, based on body language, we could tell they did not want us to be there.

Review 14:The location was fantastic! Very close to Peace Memorial Park.

Review 15:Room tends to get humid, wetting the window.

Review 16:Well placed in city and easy to reach from Hiroshima Station. Clean and comfortable. Nice view from our room.

Review 17:Nothing

Review 18:Hotel is very close to Hiroshima Memorial park where we can take sightseeing bus. Tram station is also near - 5 minute walk. Good value for money - we get FREE breakfast with a good spread to choose. WiFi is good and we can make own tea in room Clean & quiet environment.

Review 19:Thin pillows. Make sure to ask for an extra pillow at the front desk!

Review 20:Small but comfortable, clean room. Good buffet breakfast with both Japanese and western style food. Amazing view of Hiroshima from breakfast restaurant.

Review 21:The location was great.. across the road from Peace Park, the breakfast was very good with s great panoramic view and the room was a good size . Overall it was great value for money

Review 22:Absolutely nothing

Review 23:Excellent location, so close to the ABomb Dome we could see it from our hotel room window. Easy access to other tourist attractions via the JR Loop Bus.

Review 24:Nothing particular, but it would be better if the bathroom is little bigger.

Review 25:Excellent location for visiting the Peace Memorial Park which is just over the bridge from the hotel. The view from the restaurant on 15th floor is amazing. The bed was very comfortable, too.

Review 26:The hotel seems like an older property but the rooms were very well kept and tidy. Good location within walking distance of dining and shopping venues. Right by Hiroshima Peace Park. Staff were friendly and professional.

Review 27:Double beds are quite small by Australian standards and no real choice of pillows.

Review 28:Great location, extremely close to Peace Park and very easy to find on foot. Breakfast buffet was great and restaurant has amazing view out over Peace Park.

Review 29:Great hotel. Pleasant staff. always willing to assist. Comfortable room with beautiful view. Lovely to eat breakfast on 15th floor with a view of the river.

Review 30:The hotel is really easy to reach; take bus no. 24 or 25 from Hiroshima station for about 20 minutes and you're only several feets away from the hotel. Cross the nearby bridge, and voila, the Hiroshima Memorial Park, Museum, and A-Bomb Dome are all laid out in reasonable walking distance. All in all, a very solid and efficient experience!

Review 31:Rooms dated and very small - the wash basin being in the room and not inside of the bathroom was very odd!

Review 32:The location of the hotel was excellent- directly opposite the Peace Museum and the city hop on/off bus stops.

Review 33:Rooms are quite small and there is no air conditioner available in winter - too hot in the rooms at night when trying to sleep Annoying to constantly leave the key at reception

Review 34:Great location Great breakfasf

Review 35:Rooms are super compact, but still comfortable.

Review 36:Totally worth paying for the rooms with a view. I'd happily stay again. So refreshing to look out at the river, and walking distance or a ¥1000 taxi ride from most locations. Peace park is just across the road. Also the Italian restaurant upstairs is DELISH!

Review 37:Perfect location overlooking Peace Park and Atomic Bomb Dome, easily accessible by tram, large room, very good breakfast, good dinner options in the neighborhood.

Review 38:Breakfast was plentiful, both Japanese and Western dishes, but the quality was mediocre, not worth 1500 yen.

Review 39:Near trams and Peace Park. View from room (on 10th floor) over Peace Park and across to the Atomic Dome. Good-sized room, comfortable bed. Excellent value for money

Review 40:Rooms were a bit warm in the evening. Having to hand in key when going out.

Review 41:Location was perfect, 5 minute walk to a-bomb dome, right on the river with river views. An easy 10 or so minute walk to the main shopping areas of Hiroshima, about a 15 minute drive from the JR train station. Staff were informative and helpful. Comfortable bed, pleasant rooms with fridge, tv, kettle etc. a bit warm at night though, the air in was set to a certain temp and not able to be adjusted on a per room basis. Overall a great hotel and I'd recommend it and would definitely stay again.

Review 42:Nothing really.

Review 43:Location is perfect, right in the center of Hiroshima with easy access to the trams. I've been backpacking for a few months so it was rather nice to stay in an actual hotel. Beds are comfortable and I had a great view of Hiroshima from my window.

Review 44:The extra bed is like a sofa-bed and it is not the most comfortable one. The aircon is hard to set up.

Review 45:Location is perfection. Breakfast is really good and the view from the breakfast room is amazing.

Review 46:The staff were extremely helpful and could speak English. They gave us wonderful maps and ideas on wonderful places to go and visit. We enjoyed our time immensely in Hiroshima, thank you to the staff @ Hotel Sunroute Hiroshima!

Review 47:Rooms are quite dated, and the pillows were hard rice sacks.

Review 48:Location near the peace museum and atomic bomb dome was brilliant, we were able to walk everywhere. Breakfast on the 15th was great.

Review 49:Cleanliness is an issue. Our bed covers were spotty, we found hairs in the bathroom that definitely did not belong to us, there was mold in the bathroom, the carpet had spots and an unidentifyable white crystalline substance layed on the window frame. We refrained from tasting it. The location needs a 20-30 minutes tram ride to the JR station which needs consideration when you plan your day. The aircon is turned into a heating after Nov. 1st, regardless what temperatures are outside. In 2015 we had 20°C and more and the room was completely overheated. At least we could open a window.

Review 50:Relatively large rooms for Japanese conditions. Rooms leading to the backside are quiet.

Review 51:Clean rooms. Standard 3 stars Hotel. However, location is really good. Located just near Peace Park and Atomic bomb Dome. Breakfast is on the highest floor and you can see all the park and dome from there. Great view!

Review 52:Room was overheated even with air con off and doona too warm for the time of year, but these are minor issues. Excellent location and great 11th floor restaurant

Review 53:Excellent breakfast room. Good restaurants literally around the corner from the hotel. The staff were all very professional and helpful. A good location, opposite peace park and museum etc.

Review 54:At the time of check in we found the staff to be quite cold, although we are prepared to believe that was because of their lack of fluency in English.

Review 55:Location, cleanliness and in room facilities. It is very near Peace Memorial Museum. Local buses and sight seeing buses stop very near the hotel.

Review 56:Elevators tended to take a long time - but the hotel was fully booked so that is understandable. Aircondition did not work properly, so the room was really hot. For a hotel this size and this crowded, having to turn in the roomkey every time is not very convenient or modern.

Review 57:Location near the peacepark, tram and centre. Comfortable beds. For a Japanese hotel, the room was quite big.

Review 58:They turn the cooling off in Autumn and Winter and it was actually too hot in our room, we sweated for one very uncomfortable night, and our window didn't open. We asked if we could change rooms to one with a window that opened and they obliged. Unfortunately the staff member we got on check in wasn't very friendly, no smiles, was a bit sad.

Review 59:Location was great, beautuful view of the A-Bomb Dome and Museum of Peace. Breakfast had a great variety for those who prefer a Japanese or Western style breakfast. The bed was comfortable and the room (just a standard twin for us) was big enough for two medium suitcases. The bathroom was well equipt and the little teapot with complimentary green tea was nice.

Review 60:Good location for memorial park and to get to Miyajima Island. Breakfast was always good and real pleasure to look out over the Peace Memorial Park from top floor restaurant while having breakfast.

Review 61:The rooms are dated and the decor is primarily brown in colour which is pretty unappealing. Despite the fact that it was a non smoking room, it smelled heavily of cigarettes. The bed was very small. The air-conditioning in the room didn't work particularly well so it was very warm and stuffy in the room.

Review 62:The location is very good, right next to the Peace Memorial. Breakfast was decent with a good selection of food. The view from the room was nice as it overlooked the river.

Review 63:Room was very small. Furniture was a bit tired/dated looking.

Review 64:Staff were friendly. Hotel was located very near the Peace Museum and Park. 15 min streetcar/tram journey from Hiroshima train station.

Review 65:The hotel is located right next to the Peace Park, so the location is outstanding. The property is older but the room was clean and the staff friendly. I would stay here again because of the wonderful location.

Review 66:Air condition did not work. Room was very small and cramped. Window can not open very much so the room remained stuffy. Gave us a room in the back with a terrible view. Must take the local bus to the Hiroshima station that takes approx 20 minutes each time if you need to go outside of the city to tour.

Review 67:location is close to the museum and peace park. Breakfast had a good selection of Japanese food.

Review 68:Temperature in the room. The air conditioning only makes noise!

Review 69:Location, 5 min walk from the atomic dome. Furthermore nice shopping dining area close by.

Review 70:Strangely the staff were surprisingly dead pan. Not at all like the usual Japanese friendliness. Didn't bother me though. The hotel is pretty outdated but for the price it's fine.

Review 71:The room is standard, nothing fancy but just fine. Great view from the breakfast room and we had a room on the twelfth floor so also a good view. Location was very handy for the peace Park. Price includes breakfast and the overall price was very fair.

Review 72:The staff was very helpfull and the accommodations were GREAT for the price you get a GREAT viwe over the Hiroshima peace memorial and the A bomb dome. Close to great shopping streets. Lovely stay!

Review 73:2 lifts for such a large hotel impractical when full, no complimentary water. Noisy room from either fridge air con or something else

Review 74:Location so close to tram and main sites in hiroshima

Review 75:The room was a bit small and the curtains were tatty and torn.

Review 76:Great view over the river and Peace Memorial Park. Didn't incude breakfast, but still the hotel was great value. It had good information in English about the sightseeing spots.

Review 77:We had a 12th floor full view of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial...stunning...hotel was very accommodating in every way...great breakfast with lot's of choices...perfect in every way

Review 78:Tea and coffee facilities for western couple was lacking, but it seems to be the same in all the hotels we stayed at in Japan. Sunroute only had green tea to offer.

Review 79:Nice clean room.

Review 80:no rooms have a river view which was a shame given the location. The rooms are quite average in cleanliness and decor. Sadly we were disappointed with the room. The staff are lovely.

Review 81:The location was excellent. The restaurant on the 15th floor provided breakfast and a choice of Italian or Japanese cuisine. We tried both and recommend the Italian. The foyer to the hotel is lovely with plenty of taxis. The hotel is across the road from the peace park, walking distance to the dome and ferry to go to mirayama.

Review 82:Had to log onto the internet daily. Ran out of English tea one morning which was surprising for a large hotel with a large number is western guests. Bar was quite expensive.

Review 83:View from our room over peace park Breakfast buffet ok with a range of Western and Japanese food. Restaurant overlooks the park which was nice. There was a good guide on how to get to miyajima.... Quickest, cheesesteak and least transport changes.

Review 84:Old and dirt. Stains on all the blankets. Very outdated and old fashioned. The lobby is full of tacky junk for sale.

Review 85:Location is excellent as it is right across from the Peace Park

Review 86:I asked for an upper storey room with a room of the Atom Dome. The view was fantastic of the river, Peace Park and Dome. I usually don't eat in the restaurant but did here. Lovely set meal and again the stunning view, this time at night. Breakfast superior, many options!

Review 87:The normal rooms are really small and dated. The fire alarm started to shout twice in one night. One time in the middle of the night. Both were false alarms, but still not too pleasant. We did not book breakfast in advance and one morning my partner could not have it, because the whole restaurant was full with tourist.

Review 88:The location is perfect. This hotel has most probably the best view all over the river around the A Dome. That is why you must try the buffet breakfast on there 15th floor restaurant (and/or insist on having a river side room).

Review 89:Very, very run down hotel. Not clean at all. We stayed out as late as possible and left very first thing in the morning, as being in the worn-out, run-down and unclean room was thoroughly unenjoyable.

Review 90:Location is great, very close to peace memorial

Review 91:Hotel very well located, with a confortable bedroom : - just 5 minutes walk from the Hiroshima memorial area and a large avenue with many shops and restaurants, - 15 minutes by Tramway or bus from the JR railway station. So it's very easy to go from the hotel to the memorial. It's also very convenient to take the boat (in the memorial park) to go and visit the magnificient Miyajima island (45 minutes trip).

Review 92:A little bit far from Hiroshima station anyway in walking distant if no baggage

Review 93:Location near Important tourist attractions Free energy drink but only 1 day orther day was out

Review 94:The hotel is outdated. All the facilities are old and the room is in need of a major refurbishment. The staff is quite unpolite, you never feel welcome.

Review 95:Very good location. Probably the only reason for choosing this hotel.

Review 96:The price was a bit high for such a cramped space (the average Japanese hotel room size feels quite small for three persons), but it was Silver Week so it was to be expected.

Review 97:Great location really close to the Peace Memorial Park.

Review 98:Great value for money, excellent location. Staff were very friendly and the room was well equipped with all the amenities needed and a great view as well!

Review 99:My husband said that he thought it would be good if you had a few movie channels on your television.

Review 100:The closeness of it to everything, the staff were friendly and helpful and the facilities were quite good

Review 101:The fire alarm went off 4 times, 3 times in the middle of the night. The staff were very unapologetic for the severe disruption to our sleep. It then happened again a 4th time the following day. No apologies. Very disappointing behaviour. My daughter was terrified after the run down 14 flights of outside fire stairs.

Review 102:Great hotel, clean comfortable and close to the Peace Park

Review 103:The location of this hotel is its best asset. Across the river from the Peace Park, close to downtown and restaurants, etc. If you have a JR Pass you can even use the tourist loop bus for free; the Peace Park stop is very close.

Review 104:The location was excellent close to the Peace park, river and tram line. We had a lovely view from our room. Varied buffet breakfast. Excellent value!

Review 105:- Couldn't take the breakfast last morning (early plane), nothing proposed and no solution (we just lost the breakfast - 1500 yens/pers-)

Review 106:- Enjoyable breakfast - Very good location - Calm and clean

Review 107:Really nice hotel, everything was good. Location is perfect, just near atomic museum and close to tram stop. We got an upper floor with a very nice view. Breakfast was exceptionally good!!!

Review 108:The only thing is that the hotel is a bit updated for my taste but all is very clean and the bed is comfortable

Review 109:Very good location and friendly staff. The breakfast room views are great and the breakfast is nice too. The room was good size for Japan. Good value for money

Review 110:As always in Japan the double rooms are cramped. Way too small by western standards. Beds are typically hard and breakfasts expensive.

Review 111:Location was perfect. Just across the river from the museum, gardens and monuments and a bit further for the castle and shops. Bus to the station was just across the road making making it easy to transfer.

Review 112:Room was not clean. We found a lot of trash after the previous visitor. Air conditioner was loud.

Review 113:Very close to Peace Park and Museum. There are a lot of good places to eat around this hotel. Don't bother with the breakfast at the hotel. Very close to really nice supermarket. Hotel staff is friendly.

Review 114:Location is excellent! You're across the street from the Peace Memorial and a very short walk from the Dome. The cityview from the top floor restaurant is amazing. Rooms are fairly comfortable and the staff is very kind and helpful.

Review 115:Bedding and pillows were extremely aged and dirty. The pillows, especially, were crusty to touch and disgusting - Ended up using a rolled-up towel in place of the pillow.

Review 116:Courteous staff and great value for money. Very close to the (free with JR pass) Hiroshima Sightseeing Bus Stop (Meipuru-pu) and a 4-minute walk to the Peace Museum and Memorial.

Review 117:While we stayed in a non smoking room, the room smelled of cigarettes when we turn on the air con, which made me uncomfortable. The hotel is also a bit far from Hiroshima station.

Review 118:The room was comfortable and the hotel is a 10 minute walk to Hondori mall. Very convenient to visit the Peace Park.

Review 119:The bar was a great facility and very nice but the prices were very overpriced compared to other places.

Review 120:Good Hotel in a great location near Peace Park in Hiroshima. Slightly expensive in comparison. Staff were not overly welcoming and very business like though. Breakfast was good quality and well presented. Parking was also onsite and easily arranged. Thought that the bar prices were very expensive compared to other places. Not inclined to use this facility due to prices.

Review 121:Staff wasn't as helpful as other places we visited in Japan (but nothing terrible!).

Review 122:Great location, and wonderful view over memorial peace park! Great room, with great facilitys.

Review 123:I chose to stay at this hotel again, on my second visit to Hiroshima, because of its location, close to Peace Park, its friendly and efficient staff and its welcoming atmosphere.

Review 124:The Sun Route Hotel is perfectly located for visiting the Hiroshima Peace Park and Park Museum. They are about 3-minutes away, on foot. I had a beautiful view of the entire Peace Park from my hotel room on the 14th floor of the Sun Route Hotel.
