Reviews for Al Pescatore Hotel & Restaurant
Review 1:Hotel has decent rooms and is facing the sea in the charming old town. Gallipoli overnight parking impossible and hotel is very close to designated parking area. Seafood restaurant of hotel one of best in the city.
Review 2:Great staff. Special mention to the tall lady from Lecce who let us park right in front of the hotel and the other young lady who spent hours booking us in the finest restaurant in G.
Review 3:Breakfast food was not replaced until the end of serving time, especially the fruits. A few Flies around the food (not sheltered) and service not always careful and quick ( breakfast) tired furnitures. Sheets not changed in 3 days
Review 4:Location and building Nice staff at the reception Good size room with safe and refrigerator
Review 5:Air conditioning in some rooms very weak. Parking situation was difficult.
Review 6:Located on the waterfront of the "old town" on Gallipoli Island we enjoyed the ocean breezes as well as the proximity to the restaurants, and island shops. The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. Our rooms were clean and good sized although a bit basic. The bathrooms were large and modern but not luxurious. Air conditioning worked very well in the double room but seemed a bit weak for the triple room we had. Breakfast in the hotel's outdoor restaurant was a nice continental breakfast that included several very nice homemade cakes and great coffee/cappuccinos. During the month of September we were able to take advantage of the hotel's relationship with one of the local beaches and had free access to the private beach, beach umbrellas and sun beds. The beach is a 10 minuted drive away and if needed the hotel can arrange a shuttle bus so that there is no need to fight for parking which is an issue both at the beach and at the port where one is required to park the car since the island is off limits to traffic. The Port is close by, right below the hotel, but can get extremely crowed making parking a bit of a struggle! Located on the island side of Gallipoli we felt that is was close to the restaurants and shops and removed from what we heard was the "younger" part of town where there are more nightclubs and dancing, which suited us just fine! I recommend the hotel for anyone who wants a comfortable hotel in a great location.
Review 7:The parking situation isn't the best. You have to park down by the harbour...which is probably fine normally, but we were there during Ferragosto and it was PANDEMONIUM. I wish that there had been reserved parking for guests so that we didn't have to deal with it.
Review 8:Great location...comfy beds... friendly, helpful staff.
Review 9:Rooms vary a lot in quality, one with bad smell, and not much atmposphere.
Review 10:Great location, pretty building on the inside. Room on first floor with high ceiling and seaview all right but expensive.
Review 11:The hotel lacked anywhere to sit out, for example, a terrace or somewhere to be other than in bedroom. The bedrooms were adequate and clean but not of a 4* standard. We had expected more comfort.
Review 12:Staff were very helpful and friendly and the hotel was pleasant.
Review 13:The hotel's position is excellent. The restaurant was full, so we did not have the chance to try it, but the menu and dishes we saw seemed great.
Review 14:The ceiling in the bathroom was peeling so badly that it keep falling off during our 1 night there. The hotel's front automatic doors were broken and had to be manually opened but there was no sign to notify us of this. Staff member on reception at check in kept breaking off checking us in to deal with other guests' queries and didn't apologise for the delay this caused.
Review 15:Spacious room and view of the port. Nice courtyard past reception
Review 16:Room is small and awkward. There seems to be a newer wing, with an elevator (which we didn't have). Staff will not be of much help with troublesome public parking. Porter watched me load the luggage into the car without raising a hand to help.
Review 17:Great location right on Lungomare and next to the Old City.
Review 18:The whole old town was closed for the winter so as was the hotel. There was no bar as mentioned and when we asked for a place to have a drink the reception said you can go to the restarant for just a drink. The waiters looked at us like okay there are not going to eat and service was not guick for us. We took two glassed of wine and had to pay the normal service charge for eating and that was 40 % of the bill. When complaining they of course not understand any English and after telling to the reception that was the same thing. If a four star hotel has nothing availabe that they say on their website page, you should not make the customer pay for it. I suggested that they mention on the website that during winter time there are no places open in the whole town, only two expensive restaurants, no bars available and the shops were closed during the day. When asking for the bus timetable for the station there was none and of course the reception could not speak good English. So we walked the long way back. The service was not like it should be in a four star hotel, we got the same service at other b&bs
Review 19:The location was good although there was no bustimetable for the station available.
Review 20:I could not see the harbor from the room. He window opened up to an inside courtroom, but maybe that's why I slept so well. No noise from the outside.
Review 21:A beautifully restored hotel, with a very comfortable room and a delicate bathroom. I had everything I needed: a desk, ample closet space with enough hangers, WIFi in my room, and I slept like a log in a comfortable bed.
Review 22:- shower without a cabin - some dirt and spider webs on the curtains and walls
Review 23:- helpful personnel - close to many restaurants and cafes - big, free parking next to the hotel (in the port) - good breakfast
Review 24:The cheapest rooms are on the ground level with "french windows" which opens directly to the street. In case you like to have any privacy there is no possibilities to open the shades or window.
Review 25:TV was a bit basic and it was quite windy.
Review 26:Lovely building and setting close to shops and tourist sites. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 27:Nothing - it was all good.
Review 28:Location. Character of the building.
Review 29:wi-fi slow heavy traffic made it difficult to walk around the old town
