Reviews for Borgo Canalicchio Di Sopra Relais
Review 1:Run by two sisters who are a part of the family that owns and runs the winery. They were so sweet, warm and attentive and cooked us breakfast every morning! The winery makes some of the best Brunello di Montalcino in the area by the way. Robert Parker gave their 2010 Brunello 98 points. Pretty cool then to stay at the property and drink the wine! Each suite is super nice, very clean and newly renovated. Just down the hill from the cute medieval town/fortress of Montalcino, where you can have dinner. One night we went up to town and shopped the butcher, cheese shop and vegetable stand to make our own dinner. They also press their own olive oil from the grove of olive trees on property and have in the room for you. It will blow your mind and you'll never ever be able to use cheap diluted olive oil again. Overall, a very cool experience!!
Review 2:We went to the hotel in a holiday season. With that, unfortunately, we could not make the scheduled tasting (which was one of the reasons for booking the hotel). The pool was closed and covered with blue plastic, making a less pleasant view. Despite the seasonality of use, it could be kept open so as not to spoil the view, which is so beautiful. I would like to go back, anyway.
Review 3:The Hotel is surrounded by beautiful landscapes of Tuscany. Very romantic. The room is very cozy and guests have the wines available for a reasonable price.
Review 4:Everything was great! Our room was fantastic(suite), the breakfast was fenomenal and the Staff in particular Simonetta was so helpful. Great experience in Montalcino
Review 5:10+. the whole experience are awesome for us. Laura provided clear guide for how to get there. The google map can exactly pointed there. The villa is super big, well decorated and maintained. and they are famous for their Brunello wine in the area. strongly recommenced for wine fans
Review 6:Beautiful setting, accommodation - really five star. Breakfasts excellent and the owners are extremely helpful in every way, fabulous. The wine is superb too.
Review 7:Mosquitoes. Take your spray!
Review 8:We are a family of four who like our home comforts and enjoy exploring new places, restaurants, and relaxing. This was a perfect location for us in many ways: the apartment was spotlessly clean and comfortable; It is ideally placed a short drive away from Montalcino and within easy driving distance of other locations; Laura in the hotel was enormously helpful, booking restaurants for us, giving us tips, and taking us on the tour of the cellars and wine tasting; breakfast was magnificent, with fresh fruit, bread, cakes, pastries, meats, cheeses, and yoghurt - and it was different every day; the pool isn't heated but it didn't need to be in the weather that we had - it lovely to swim in, both before breakfast and in the afternoon, and the rows of sun loungers were very comfortable with plenty of shade; the hotel is relatively small so the pool was never crowded; there are separate air conditioning units in each of the bedrooms of the apartment and the free wifi throughout the hotel was reliable. Self-catering facilities are a little basic, but that suited us since we wanted to try a selection of restaurants in Montalcino and the surrounding area.
Review 9:The bedding could be updated. Shower water pressure poor. A/C not cold enough. Wine and Water fridge not cold
Review 10:Location, pool, room, wifi and staff all great.
Review 11:The kitchen only had a stove. There is no oven to bake anything. Stove had just a couple of burners. However, we could cook pasta and other dish. If you need an oven to bake, there's none.
Review 12:Everything was great from checking to check out. Facilities are amazing. The Infinity pool is fantastic. The apartment was awesome with 2 bedrooms downstairs and 1 master bedroom upstairs. They have their own winery.
Review 13:Bed and pillows could be updated.
Review 14:Laura, our host, was helpful in every way. The tour and tasting of the wines was wonderful. Breakfast was fresh and homemade.
Review 15:nothing at all
Review 16:The apartment was perfect - large, clean, modern rooms in a bucolic setting very close to the charming town of Montalcino. Pool was large and in a great setting. Most of all Laura was a perfect, warm, accessible hostess.
Review 17:nothing - just lovely!
Review 18:pristine accommodation set within the most beautiful of surroundings close to the main attractions in this wonderful region! Laura was so accommodating and courteous - thank you so much! We hired the 6 person 3 apartment which was stunning!!
Review 19:No stove.
Review 20:Location in the wine area of Tuscany is superb. Self-catering BBQ facilities great (although it lacked a stove which was definitely needed). Friendly & v.helpful staff. Modern fixtures and fittings.
Review 21:Nothing bad can be said about this facility.
Review 22:Perfect location for exploring the region and the town of Montalcino. We shared the 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment and it was spacious and well designed. Lovely area just outside our door overlooking the pool, vineyards and olive groves.
Review 23:Family-owned winery with beautiful and relaxing location in the vineyards. Dip in the pool was great after a day of tours. Great views of Tuscany. 5 minute drive to Montalcino.
Review 24:It's hard to have any dislikes about Canalicchio Di Sopra.
Review 25:We like the tranquility yet accessibility of Canalicchio Di Sopra. The staff are predominantly family and care about their guests. This is a very well run operation, they are very flexible and are there when you need them, but not bothersome when you don't.
Review 26:Average all around from experienced Italy travelers. 15 euro a person for breakfast? No pets? Really? Room was quite warm, water pressure wasn't acceptable, and checkout was painful. For this price,You should get breakfast and the room comfort should be top notch. Nice folks though and montalcino is a beautiful place.
Review 27:Location! And rooms were spacious.
Review 28:We enjoy everthing in Canalicchio di sopra, the fantastic suite, breakfast, the people... Toscana is a dreaming place. I recommend for everybody. By Ayres & Anna Montenegro
Review 29:It's not walking distance to Montalcino (you need a car to access this property).
Review 30:Beautiful property nearby Montalcino - good facilities with a stunning view.
Review 31:Because it was October and the climate control had already been switched to heat, I would have liked screens on the window/door so we could have opened them without bugs coming in. It was very warm in the apartment and since we are people from a cold weather climate it was much to warm for comfortable sleeping.
Review 32:The place was beautiful and very comfortable. The property was well kept and very relaxing. When people think of staying at a Tuscan resort this is what they are thinking of quaint, and among the vineyard.
Review 33:We really enjoyed our staying here - amazing place, excellent design and great service with personal touch! We are really looking forward to come back here one day! Laura, Francesco, thank you so much for your hospitality!!!
Review 34:Spa bath plug didn't seal properly and some of the jets didn't work.
Review 35:Couldn't have asked for more beautiful views! Stayed in the villa. The room was clean, comfortable and had a terrace that overlooked the pool, vineyard and surrounding hills. It is a 1km walk up a steep track to Montalcino town centre, nice walk and opportunity to take in the views on the way up. If you don't want to walk, make sure you have a car as no public transport. We were given a great tour of the cellar of the property and were lucky enough to be there at harvest time which meant we saw the picking and sorting process of grapes. Was informative and then had an opportunity to wine taste. We would happily stay here again.
Review 36:Didn't want to leave but did order a half case of wine to be shipped back with us.
Review 37:Wonderful hosts, so accommodating. Home cooked breakfast including cakes and pastries. Always asking if we would like our rooms cleaned, new towels etc. Beautiful location, great vineyard and tasting experience. Quiet, views amazing and local town has some fabulous restaurants.
Review 38:Laura's hospitality and flexibility (we arrived 3hrs late due to Fiumicino's "efficiency"). Lovely apartment - we were in the Brunello which very spacious. Great location, just outside of Montalcino. Good value breakfast (good coffee!) Location - pool, vineyards and peacefulness
Review 39:Would be better if they can provide sleepers
Review 40:Friendly staffs and excellent cleanliness
Review 41:If you have a car, convenient location for reaching Montalcino. Nice view and facility especially for freinds or family trip
Review 42:Heating was actually too much even in winter
Review 43:Very friendly staff Beautiful rooms
Review 44:A beautiful resort in countryside. Every is great as well as the Brunello!
Review 45:everything, includes staff, room, location, view, environment are just so perfect.
Review 46:Fantastic host (Laura), views and wine!
Review 47:Had to drive to get anywhere.
Review 48:Beautiful and well equipped with stunning views.
Review 49:roen, utsikten, renheten
Review 50:Perfect on all levels!!!! Amazing stay!!
Review 51:Shower
Review 52:Swimming pool
Review 53:Fantastic pool area. Beautiful setting and modern, clean apartments.
Review 54:Very friendly, welcoming staff.
Review 55:Very nice location. Beautiful property. The staff were fantastic.
Review 56:No such thing.
Review 57:Without exception one of the rare beauty. Spectacular views, meticulous design, thinking about all the little details - pure pleasure.
Review 58:The wine tour was interesting. Stunning views from our balcony
Review 59:Pool Gatecrashing a wine-tasting party next door.
Review 60:Clean & modern rooms. Beautiful location. Friendly staff. And they make a really nice Brunello .
Review 61:Nothing.
Review 62:Fantastic Tuscan view from room balcony and nice infinity pool.
Review 63:Only that there was no safe in the room and nowhere to hang clothes except in the wardrobe upstairs. Small things given the location and quality of the venue were so great!
Review 64:Beautiful location not too far from Montalcino. The pool was fantastic, beautiful views to sunbathe. The room was done to a very high standard and we had lots of space. The Brunello di Montalcino in the room was fantastic. Great service, we felt well looked after.
Review 65:The staff was friendly; though it could be more informative they could provide information on the firework at Montalcino in advance so we could plan about it. We just happened to see it at that night. We also asked for location of a famous photo spot in Val d'Orcia but they did not know about it.
Review 66:We had a good time in the nice room. It is very comfortable. Our room is on the second floor with terrace. The view from the terrace during sunrise was very nice. The room was very specious so we could really relax at the room. There was a small kitchen also so we could made some simple meal to enjoy the view from the terrace in the morning.
Review 67:A little bit dark in room where we stay. But I think it's save during the summer!!!
Review 68:It's a best place to visit winery in Tuscany. Specially brunello)))) Great owners!!
Review 69:Everything perfect.
Review 70:Everything. Luxury acommodations, huge room, the bed, the soaps and shampoos of olive. Every single details. We strongly recomend. The breakfast is great as well.
Review 71:A wonderful 2 bedroom apartment with all of the amenities. Wonderful views overlooking the vineyard and the pool. Laura was a wonderful hostess and her breakfasts were filling. A very short journey to the town of Montalcino. This would be a place I would love to return to with a few more friends, as there was certainly enough room.
Review 72:NOTHING
Review 73:WE STAYED IN A ONE BEDROOM APARTMENT WITH LOVELY VIEWS OVER VALLEY. IT WAS SELF CONTAINED SO WE MADE DINNER AND ENJOYED A BOTTLE OF THEIR WINE. ABOUT 10MIN TO BEAUTIFUL TOWN OF MONTALCINO. OUR HOSTS WERE VERY NICE AND THE VILLA WAS PERFECT TO RELAX.
Review 74:I had been there for my husband birthday with our two kids. We had a lovely experience. The staf were wonderful, specially Laura, she is very sweet. They provide everything we requested, just on time. We will never forget this place.
Review 75:The hotel was not so easy to find. It took ten minutes to find some of the staff (laura). The staff was not very friendly and quite "underdressed" (joggingtrousers). The breakfast was quite poor (e.g. only one coffee). The furniture does not have the class of the building and that is disappointing. The shower was in the bath and not so generous with hot water. This hotel is much to expensive; for half the price we had hotels that were as good or even better than this.
Review 76:The buildings are beautiful and so is the swimmingpool.
Review 77:Breakfasts are really poor. For 16 euro per person per night. Price is too high. I was surprised to find on my pillow first day I came a small peace of the ceiling (or wall). I looked up, but couldn't find any place from where this could possibly come from. The all place I loved so much, but this was really strange.
Review 78:Very beautiful, very calm place with a peaceful surrounding - in Montalcino, origin of famous Italian vine Brunello de Montalcino. From our room the view was to all sides of the hotel, so we enjoy Toscanian peizajes through all the days we stayed there. If you would like to have a vocation far away from everything among beautiful nature - it is the place.
Review 79:Location & facilities. Having to book online without seeing a placeto stay can be unnerving, especially in a foreign country. We werepleasantly surprised at the beauty of Canalicchio. We were impressedwith the beautiful scenery, and the apartment was perfect: 3 bedrooms, 2baths, a full kitchen. After our day-trips, it was the perfect place tocome home to, enjoy a simple dinner of delicious food we bought in town, sit around the pool, have some wine, and truly relax and gather as afamily. We can't wait to have a chance to go back again. Laura wasmost charming and helpful with everything we asked her. She really takespride and works hard.
Review 80:Nothing - well, Breakfast is a bit pricey at 15 euros per person per day and consists of fresh breads, fruits, meats and cheese, yogurt and coffee, juice.
Review 81:The whole place was extremely well thought out - The winery moved across the street from its original location, but a brand new hotel was built on the old side. While it is a new building, everything looks old, but because it is new, it is really clean and comfortable. Included, but not advertised is a tour of the winery and tasting - the people who own the winery are lovely and welcoming unlike at other wineries. Once this small winery becomes well known, it will be impossible to stay here without reservations way in advance - so know is the time. And, the wine is really good! The pictures do not do this place justice - it is far prettier than the pictures show.
Review 82:The layout of the shower in the bath was very awkward for someone oversix feet to use. Lack of a safe.
Review 83:The position and location just outside Montalcino was perfect. Thelayout of the apartments and the swimming pool area all with fantasticviews of the Tuscan Hills. The friendliness of the Staff and the familyatsmophere that comes across. Would have no hesitation in returning inthe future. Nearly forgot the wine is top class as well
Review 84:We acually had to sleep with open doors, because there was no airconditioner! The owner told us that the air conditioner wotk only duringsummer time, not on spring time, and so only the heater is on! It wasquiet worm by the time we were there, and the only solution was open thedoors and try not to worry about it (quite hard). Also, the breakfast isexpensive (15 euros person) and the wines they sell there are the sameprices as the ones sold in banfi castle.
Review 85:The owners are really friendly and offered us a wine degustation tobetter know their products. The room is wonderful, its modern eventhough located in a farm. Rhats ecxactly what we appreciated aboutit: the feeling of nature and simplicity with a confortable andelegant room.
Review 86:First of all, Montalcino is absolutely beautiful and Canalicchio Di Sopra is in a great location in Montalcino near amazing wineries (including Canalicchio Di Sopra!) and the town of Montalcino. The room was spacious, nice, clean and comfortable but the best part was the hospitality - we worked primarily with Laura and she made us a lovely breakfast in the mornings, showed us around the winery / vineyard, offered a tasting, etc. Would definitely go back!
Review 87:Laura Amazing construction quality Unforgettable pool Great food
Review 88:nothing

Review 90:The peaceful, the design, clean, the pool and the crew
Review 91:niente
Review 92:Quiet surroundings, friendly and helpful hosts, new and comfortable accommodations, clean pool area, proximity to the old city of Montalcino...
Review 93:Very clean and wonderful countryside views. Everything was perfect.
