Reviews for Torre Bennistra

Review 1:The staff were friendly but did not speak English as advertised. The shower in our room and our travelling companions leaked badly on each use

Review 2:The position is great and the views are fabulous. The hotel was very clean and the breakfasts were good.

Review 3:It's a little tricky to get to and cell phone service is weak

Review 4:The dining room is excellent for breakfast and dinner. There are excellent food locations close by. Staff is very helpfull

Review 5:A bit expensive since rooms are small and facilities are just average (but you pay for the location); staff could be more friendly

Review 6:Rooms overlooking the sea have a fantastic view (with balcony). Breakfast on the beautiful terrace is lovely (great choice and quality). It is in the centre of Scopello, within easy reach of the Zingaro Natural Reserve

Review 7:Torre Bennistra is likely the most charming place I have ever stayed in the most charming setting I have ever seen. The staff are all extremely helpful and courteous. From taking our bags to the room and not accepting a tip to holding up the back of my wife's wedding sari as we traversed the stairs to the outside restaurant, the staff were the kindest I have ever met. If ever I am lucky enough to be back in Scopello, I will be staying at Torre Bennistra.

Review 8:This hotel was perfect for what we needed, the view is insanely beautiful and the location is perfect for exploring scopello and also the zingaro reserve, San Vito and erice. The staff were always friendly and helped us out when we needed with our minimal Italian. The best part of this hotel is the location and the view, can't be beaten for those things in scopello. Food was excellent as well when we at there for dinner.

Review 9:No a thing

Review 10:LOVED them and their home. You are truly guests of the family when you stay. Glorious terrace, great location to the best of Palermo. It is a wonderful, personal experience. Make it yours

Review 11:I liked everything!

Review 12:Hotel has amazing view, fantastic location i magical small city Scopello. We were supposed to stay one night but we couldn't leave so we've stayed for 4 days :) I'm travelling a lot and I'm sure that Torre Benistra is one of the best hotels in my life!

Review 13:Everything was adequate. However, we were given no information on arrival on things like breakfast times, wi-fi passwords, how to book a meal at the restaurant

Review 14:Good location, very clean

Review 15:Access to a pool would have been nice but it's not such a big deal when beaches are so close.

Review 16:Very helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful location and great views. Good breakfast. Short walk to beaches.

Review 17:The people at the reception were completely unaware of how to reach anything from the hotel without a car. They didn't know of a bus for riserva dello zingaro, and they later sent us to a town to take a train to Palermo without knowing the train doesn't run this summer because of works on the whole line. Because of that we were stranded at night in a town that had no connection to Palermo and were really in a bad situation.

Review 18:I can truly recommend the hotel as a perfect holiday destination. Lovely atmosphere, warm, welcoming and patient owners, delicious breakfasts in the morning and even better dinners in a charming terrace overviewing little fishing harbour...It's definitely a place worth visiting;-) Ewelina&Adam

Review 19:- A very small balcony, so no comfort for sitting outside on the balcony. - Paying for Zingaro and Tonnera.

Review 20:- Nice staff. - Beautiful small town and surroundings. - Nice diner with a beautiful view on the ocean and the mountains. - magnificent national park Zingaro (walk at least one hour for the best bay).

Review 21:We had a slight issue when ordering our dinner and ended up being served two mains (but put this down to our mis interpretation)

Review 22:We absolutely loved the location. The view from the terraced restaurant was spectacular. We also rated our swims at the rocky cove below by the old Tuna factory as one of our top swims ever.

Review 23:Breakfast could be better. More fruit and muesli please, but great to take in the view from the terrace.

Review 24:Really liked our mountain view ground floor room. Its terrace gave a great sea view and we thought this was preferable to a sea view room. Good food and drink around the corner in the old Manor House courtyard. Staff were all charming and helpful.

Review 25:Somewhat hard to find, the lady at the reception was unfriendly as hell upon checkout. WIFI was also pretty bad throughout our stay.

Review 26:Great location, beautiful views, great breakfast!

Review 27:We missed sitting area in the room, no chairs were available. Parking is outside the village. Hard access to the beach, although they are beautiful.

Review 28:The hotel has particular atmosphere, very attentive staff. Restaurant has amazing views and wide choice of breakfast.

Review 29:Nothing wrong with the hotel, just don't forget mosquito repellent!

Review 30:Couldn't fault the place. Staff dealt with any issues very well. Was extremely clean. Restaurant had the most amazing views with delicious food.

Review 31:Having breakfast on the terrace with a wonderful view over the coastline and Zingaro . The elegant furniture, paintings, the entrance area, the dining room. We originally booked two nights but stayed four.

Review 32:Wish there was a hot tub to soak after a long day hiking in the most pristine nature reserve.

Review 33:We stayed in room 5 with the fantastic view of the sea and the Tonnara di Scopello. The bathroom is spacious and very clean. The Wifi worked very well in the room. Breakfasts are served buffet style with a nice spread of local products(cheeses, salumi, prosciutto) and house made cakes and jam. My favorites were the silkly sweet ricotta with delicious tomatoes sprinkled the local wild oregano on top. The owners were extremely helpful in helping us to solve the problem with the autostrada toll. Just a word of caution, be sure you have small changes to pay for the toll. We did not and put in a 50 euro bill and got back some change with a credit of 30 euros receipt which we could not find any place to be reimbursed.

Review 34:Nothing

Review 35:What a lovely place to stay. We had a room with a sea view which was magical. Everyone that was working there, including the owner, was very friendly and extremely helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Review 36:The hotel is in a great location, with easy access to the coastline and the wonderful nature reserve of Zingara. I highly recommend a hike through the nature reserve and a refreshing plunge into the sea along the route.

Review 37:there were two parties going on nearby and it was pretty loud at night - difficult to sleep. The road to the beach is about 10-15 min but on the way back you have to climb the mountain so it's quite an exercise.

Review 38:Very nice family-owned hotel, very good breakfast, good staff

Review 39:While there are always improvements one could suggest, it is important not to nit-pick, but rather to assess whether the hotel, as a 3-star, does what a 3-star hotel should do. In this regard, the hotel more than stands up to scrutiny. For instance, if one is expecting English-speaking television channels, then forget it. However, I would ask: "What are you watching the television for anyhow, in such a beautiful place? Look out the window instead." On the issue of the breakfast, yes, they could perhaps have provided a better quality of cereal - muesli or granola perhaps - but that would be for the benefit of visitors from the British Isles and, besides, if you believe in embracing the local cuisine while on holiday, then the large spread of continental fare on offer was more than adequate, with tasty salamis, cheeses and pastries the order of the day. Besides, the chef will cook you up some fantastic eggs on request. Just ask! For a 3-star hotel in a splendid location, you can't really expect much more than this fine little hotel.

Review 40:We returned to Torre Bennistra for several nights, as we had promised that we would, after spending one night there eight years ago. The hotel is in an exquisite location, perched on the cliff-top, overlooking the much-visited and photographed old Scopello Tonnara and the clear waters of the Mediterranean. It is clean, pretty and inviting, with its sheltered position at the end of an old cobbled lane providing all the peace and quiet of a tranquil country retreat, yet within 1 minute's walk of the main square and atmospheric baglio, or fortified farmstead, that make up the beating heart of this lovely Sicilian village. The views from the bedrooms are fantastic, while the rustic character of the rooms themselves adds to the experience. The staff - including Vincenzo, Giovanni and Fabrizio - were attentive, helpful and enthusiastic, making the whole experience very welcoming. Finally, for the cost, approaching Euro 110 per night for two people, the hotel is great value. We would absolutely recommend it.

Review 41:refrigrator loud and inside a cupboard, which prevents the heat from the refrigator to escape from the cupboard leading to even louder noises. Just unplugged it for the night, so no problem, but not very energy efficient as such. But just a minor issue

Review 42:nice hotel, nice staff, Scopello is a great place

Review 43:We loved the older family style of hotel. All involved and so helpful and happy to help you out. The view from our room was outstanding and having now travelled all over Sicily we realize what a gem this place is! Book it and stay there!

Review 44:Beds firm

Review 45:Charm of scopello villiage Architecture of hotel Detail of decor of hotel Authentic italian Kindness of staff Cleanliness of room Sea view from room

Review 46:The shower cubicle in both rooms we stayed in were very small, soshowering required some coordination.

Review 47:The most stunning location and views. Get a sea view if you can, butdon't worry if you can't as the view from the mountain side isstill pretty impressive and you can sit on the balcony over looking thebay during breakfast. Small but very clean rooms and our first hadbeautiful locally painted tiles around the headboard. Staff were bothfriendly and very helpful at all times. Simple but reasonable breakfastand if you're sat on the balcony overlooking the sea you'llbarely notice what you're eating anyway. We also ate in the hotelrestaurant one evening on the balcony. The staff were lovely and talkedthrough local food and wine choices, the food was really good andreasonably priced and overlooking the bay it's very difficult toimagine a more beautiful location to eat a meal. The local square (lessthan 2 minutes walk) is very atmospheric and I would recommend sittingat the tables of the (very good) bar/pasticceria to watch the worldgo by in the evenings. It's 10 minutes walk downhill to the sea, though be warned you have to pay three euro's at the tonnara to getin, it's not a beach (though oddly beautiful) and it can get very, very busy. Better still to walk 20 mins to the nature reserve where youcan literally swim through the fish in the beautiful coves. All in allsuch a good experience that we changed our plans and went back to stayin the hotel again later in our holidays. Recommended!

Review 48:Family run, when you walk in it feels like you're going into their house; not because of the decor (although the entrance needs smartening up and modernising) but mainly because they use the lobby and entrance area for family chats and entertainment. Anyway, it's not a big problem. But if they wanted to lift the atmosphere and make their restaurant offer more attractive, they need to modernise the whole area. They have a great asset which are the magnificent sea views, they could turn the restaurant in a great cool young bar and lounge. But grandma and her comfy chair, need to relocate somewhere else :-)

Review 49:Rooms cleanliness Location Views Comfort of mattress Peaceful rooms Nice panoramic breakfast

Review 50:bad, bad, bad air conditioners in the rooms, next to no existent wi-fi, extremely bad flat pillows and very hard mattresses. Restaurant food is mediocre

Review 51:Only the view from the restaurant

Review 52:Breakfast is nothing special. Could be slightly more expensive with better choice of (local) produce.

Review 53:The location is amazing. The view from the room was exceptional. Worth spending the added cost. Scopello is tiny but very charming.

Review 54:showers are so small it is difficult to turn around, but a small challenge in an otherwise great place to stay

Review 55:we had a great room (14) on the third floor with an ocean view...not large, but very clean...staff were very gracious, brought a bottle of white wine to our room at our request, no service charge...beautiful picturesque hotel in a beautiful picturesque village...great charm and character...quick access to national park for hiking and beaches

Review 56:This was a real find! Scopello is very touristy, in fact it is ONLY tourism. A beautiful place run by a family. The food was absolutely delicious, home made. We made the mistake of eating in another restaurant in Scopello called The Terrace and it was disgusting tourist rubbish. Only eat in the hotel you wont regret it!

Review 57:Had sea view and mountains view room. Room over crowded with useless furniture. Bed had corner posts that protruded out and constantly caused foot injuries. Rooms could do with makeover

Review 58:Good helpful staff. Restaurant was very good with magic location. Very good wine selection. Rooms were private and quiet

Review 59:Just to mention something, the shower was tiny.

Review 60:The view is amazing; you just don't want to leave because of it.Staff was nice and very good breakfast, again enjoying the incredibleview. The town is beautiful, closed only for pedestrians with a greatatmosphere. Great location if you plan to go to the natural reserve andto the Tonnara de Scopello (personally my favorite beach).

Review 61:Nothing!

Review 62:Staying at Torre Benistra was lovely! The location is perfect, with the terras overlooking the beautiful coast and the old tonnara. The room was very big and comfortable. It is a beautiful hotel with a nice decoration and a great breakfast which is very luxurious compared to other Sicilian hotels. Only a 10 minute walk to the sea (scopello is on a hill so it is a small walk down but a beautiful one so don't let it hold you back! You can also take the car). The people were always super friendly and helpful. They showed us a free parking spot instead of using the paid one at the beginning of the town.

Review 63:The wi-fi was extremely slow, the rooms were tiny and the mattress not very comfortable.

Review 64:The view from our window (we got a sea view room) was amazing.

Review 65:poor wifi in the room (better closer to the reception) and a very small 80's TV.

Review 66:good location for a trip in the reserve. incredible sea vue from the room and the breakfast terrazza. Good breakfast.

Review 67:The place is in a great location and it's a family run hotel n they are just great very sweet and make u very comfortable great will come again for sure

Review 68:The food in the restaurant was disappointing. I had stayed a few years ago for a few nights and found it excellent, eating in every night. Sadly this was not the case this time; the food was only average. With the exception of the waiter in the restaurant the staff were not very welcoming. It just felt rather a shame; they have a really lovely hotel but need to improve the quality of welcome and get the old chef back!

Review 69:Public spaces and rooms were very good, beautifully designed and presented. Location was good, views from all rooms seemed to be excellent

Review 70:The rooms were a lot more simple than they looked online

Review 71:Was clean and simple with fantastic views.

Review 72:a beautiful view

Review 73:Beautiful view

Review 74:A beautiful location with an amazing view over breakfast. The staff were lovely and efficient.

Review 75:Beautiful view to the sea. Location surrounded by a lovely and quite small little town.

Review 76:What a spectacular seaview we have from our room! Just breaktaking. Clean and refreshing.

Review 77:No air con!

Review 78:Stunning location Good chef.

Review 79:Breakfast although grand could be improved.

Review 80:Relaxing local square with food and drink options. Views from hotel rooms incredible.

Review 81:room with a view

Review 82:nothing

Review 83:Fantastic would recommend to everyone

Review 84:No mosquito nets in windows.

Review 85:Lovely view from room 7 and from restaurant. Very nicely furnished and cared for hotel.

Review 86:Not really

Review 87:View from balcony - to die for! Staff - really really nice. room - clean and spacious breakfast - just okey

Review 88:None

Review 89:Very nice and clean room, spectacular view, very good and delicious breakfast ( one of the best I have ever had in a such type of hotel)

Review 90:Authentic, family run feel, great breakfast

Review 91:Quite cold room, airco heating not work

Review 92:Beautiful view from balcony, nice staff

Review 93:The sight, the breakfast, the competent staff, the location, the warm colors of the room

Review 94:Location near the sea and natural reserve.

Review 95:Beautiful location, great view. Would go there again

Review 96:perfect!

Review 97:Room near reception was noisy

Review 98:breakfast overlooking the sea

Review 99:Everything was great. Splendid location, splendid view

Review 100:cant think of anything

Review 101:location the view personal

Review 102:loved it in every way

Review 103:Nothing .

Review 104:Location of hotel Staff very helpful - accommodation excellent - old fashioned comfortable style . Breakfast good

Review 105:Flowing shower.

Review 106:Very nice place and the hotel, good food, friendly staff.

Review 107:Felt like you were in someone's elegant home.

Review 108:from the rooms facing the water you have an incredible view of the bay and the tonnara. nice and clean rooms.

Review 109:location view calm breakfast cleanless

Review 110:Parking car in public car park at other end of village was a little inconvenient.

Review 111:Wonderful location overlooking the bay. Scopello is a very atmospheric village. Staff at the Hotel were very friendly and helpful and standard of meals was good.

Review 112:- unfortunately, the hotel has the bus schedule wrong, it should have been updated - some other members of the staff should reach the same professionnal and human standards than Fabrizio's.

Review 113:- Fabrizio, the manager, is helpful and funny, he made our stay very pleasant - good restaurant (excellent food, average service, perfect view) - suitable for families and a nice familiar atmosphere! - good location, well indicated and known over there

Review 114:Nothing that is worth mentioning.

Review 115:Great location! Nice view, both the seaview and the one facing land. Very nice people that work in the hotel! The bathrooms are very nice with beautiful handpainted tiles! Be sure to visit the nature reserve zingaro with its extraordinary beaches. We would also like to thank the person who put in the extra effort to make the breakfast as good as it was!

Review 116:The beds were rather hard, the hardest we stayed in on our entire trip, and the room was in need of a fresh coat of paint, but these were minor things, other than that, no complaints.

Review 117:The location in Scopello was perfect; right in the centre of the village, with it's own restaurant and a good selection of others to choose from. We had a room with a sea view, lovely to wake to that and have breakfast on the terrace for the first day of our holiday. Scopello itself is only around 40 minutes drive from the airport, so it's an ideal place to start or finish a tour of western Sicily, and the village is so small and beautiful that it's almost like a movie set. Swimming in the rocky bay down the hill by the old tuna factory (del Tonnare) is a must! though a very popular spot, but still worth the small entrance fee.

Review 118:This is a small comfortable, friendly family run hotel in a woderful location. Adequate rooms, friendly staff and amazing views. Good value for money. We look forward to our next visit.

Review 119:You can't really go for a walk around the hotel.

Review 120:It's a nice old style hotel with a lovely view of the Valley of the Temples. More of B&B than 4 star but has a nice feeling to it.

Review 121:Beds were hard

Review 122:Views and food

Review 123:Stunning view! Great food and friendly staff. 'closed' town very peaceful and romatic
