Reviews for Hotel Cavalluccio Marino
Review 1:The place is outdated. You can feel it by cheap furniture and paint. Breakfast for all guests was served by one person. Many tables remained uncleaned for a long time after people left.
Review 2:The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. There was no issue with parking.
Review 3:The rooms are clean, but rundown and badly maintained. Everything about this hotel speaks of carelessness - from how the rooms were built to how the hotel is run. In the bathroom no towel rack, bare pipes, missing plaster, left-over fixtures of some long-removed water heater. 300+ TV channels, all of them Italian. Minibar empty. Loud music in the hall at 1 a.m. Hard bread for breakfast and you have to go and fetch somebody to get your coffee. A few hours WiFi for what you normally pay per month. On and on...
Review 4:24h reception
Review 5:Off the beaten path. A walk to train station and heart of town. Beach was very rocky.
Review 6:Staff outstanding. Comfortable and clean. Great breakfast and loved the saltwater pool. Convenient restaurant and bar. Loved the balcony with ocean view.
Review 7:Poor quality room, fixtures and fittings a TV that was so complicated to turn on we gave up. A minute bathroom so that if someone was on the loo their knees were touching the door. Holes in the wall where plaster had fallen off and not been repaired and a totally soulless breakfast area with poor quality food. The list goes on!
Review 8:View from the hotel balcony of our room but only because we upgraded to a sea view. Other rooms looked over a drab car park or untidy run down apartments.
Review 9:Check in is at 230 pm. but our room was not ready until 3 pm, check out by 11 am. Not comfortable times. We booked two rooms but at the beach they told us that we could have just one umbrella, also there was a lot of free space but they located us at the end of the beach, near the fence, which was not very nice. Filled carpet in the room ; a little bit too old style and not suitable for a hotel in front of the beach.
Review 10:Easy access to the beach and there is a nice swimming pool. The breakfast was nice.
Review 11:The air con was not good enough in our bedroom and there was none in the reception and breakfast areas. FAR TOO HOT!! Also, no easy way to get from the station to the hotel and a long walk with suitcases. The sea was not very inviting.
Review 12:The clean swimming pool beside the sea. The grandchildren loved it. WE all did! Wonderful breakfast and breakfast service
Review 13:No complaints but would suggest the installing of an awning or similar on the balconies to provide some shade Install a shelf in the shower cubicle
Review 14:Location was amazing and the staff very helpful Ceanliness The pool area and private beech well tended Restaurant beautiful terrace and delicious food
Review 15:No air con on in the room when we arrived, hotel only turned the cooling on once I called reception and complained. There was no air con unit in the room, just a loud noisy vent and only a fan control in the room so you cannot control the temperature at all, the hotel controls it and at 4am the air con was turned off and we all woke up sweating and finding it hard to breathe in the stuffy air. Woke up with a sore throat from the stuffy air. Third bed was almost a camping bed, it was so saggy it was not a proper bed at all, the room should not have been classified as a triple room. Pillows were so flat they did nothing to support your neck and there were no additional pillows in the room, not a comfortable sleep. No wifi. Pool closed at 7pm even in middle of summer which we found ridiculous as it was so hot after 7pm. The pool was as warm as a bath, not refreshing at all, pool is very small. Looks better and bigger in the photos on the hotel site. Hotel reception make staff member would not order us a taxi, they said there was a problem with taxis in Santa M and told us to walk. TV is the size of a laptop screen. Hotel is located way out of town and not near the main beach. The tiny private beach in front of the hotel is not very nice, there are huge rocks and it's very small. They had moved a bedside table type draw into the bathroom obviously to make way for the third trundle/camp bed in the room and it made it impossible to enter the bathroom. We had to move it under the desk so we didn't walk into it every time we entered the bathroom. Male reception staff wanted to keep our passports for 15 mins when we checked in, told us we could get them back in 15 mins. I refused and told him to just take photocopies and return them immediately. He finally did. It took him 20 seconds to take photocopies so I have no idea why he wanted to keep our passports for 15 mins. No other hotel ever wanted to hold onto our passports so we found it odd.
Review 16:Air con which was Definately needed was not very efficient in fact pretty useless. Balcony furniture was very very basic and not comfortable. Two plastic chairs and a plastic table. Lack of taxis to and from train station was a pain with bags and even without for our trips into Rome.
Review 17:As continental breakfasts go it was very good and included everything we would wish for and more inc scrambled eggs and bacon. Rosa the waitress was very hardworking, pleasant friendly and helpful without being overbearing. Great employee. The pool next to the sea and beach with sun beds and umbrella and helpful pool staff.
Review 18:Options price-quality a little bit expansive but not excessive.
Review 19:Great Services: - Nice beach and very relaxing with bar and dining options. - Convenient access from the hotel to the beach. -Good Breakfast
Review 20:The hotel is somewhat shabby and there was a funny smell coming from the bathroom. The beach and pool close down very promptly at 7:30.
Review 21:This is a nice place to spend a day at the beach on your way to the airport, which is only 45 mins away. The water is beautiful and clean and the beach is just across the street from the hotel. The staff were very pleasant. Our room had a wonderful sea view. The restaurant is excellent.
Review 22:Very unfriendly, unprofessional staff! Rooms r v small with no facilities, TV size of Ipad.... No safe boxes. Extremely disappointing experience. Don't feel welcome. My wife' smother was NOT allowed in the hotel with us without a passport!? Never seen anything like this being extremely experienced traveller all over the world.
Review 23:Excellent restaurant with friendly and professional staff. Good fresh fish etc.....
Review 24:I expected a room with a balcony. It was too far from Santa Marinella. no indication was given really about these matters. There was limited places close by to eat.
Review 25:Breakfast and swimming pool. However the steps into pool too high.
Review 26:Wifi is paid per hour.
Review 27:Perfect location. The swimming pool area and the view from the front rooms are gorgeous.
Review 28:Everything
Review 29:Nothing
Review 30:Air conditioning needs updating.
Review 31:Quality of room towels excellent.
Review 32:No air condition and very disorganized
Review 33:Bed was horrible. Felt like you we sleeping in the box spring only.
Review 34:Location is great
Review 35:It is rather overpriced for the standard
Review 36:Nice sea view, friendly staff, restaurant terrace by the beach was very pleasant
Review 37:It was a pity that the pool and restaurant complex was closed.
Review 38:Staff were very helpful.
Review 39:No air con. Pretty basic for a 4 star
Review 40:No A/C... Tiny room... not a comfortable bed...
Review 41:Convenient from Civitavecchia.... Great view...okay restaurant... Nice pool....friendly staff
Review 42:No suitcase stand No tissues in room
Review 43:Reasturant was excellent
Review 44:Pool was out of order. First room was very noise with a locked door into the next room. Very far away from center and train station. No facilities nearby.
Review 45:Great balcony facing the ocean. Pool would be great if it had worked.
Review 46:There was a broken spring sticking up from one of the beds - at least they changed the mattress next day when notified. The other bed's mattress was "worn out".On Monday morning, there was NO hot water to shower in. Once reported, it was "fixed" immediately without any "repair work" needing to be done. I then realised they had just switched it off, maybe as we were the only guests in the hotel that morning. There was no light on the balcony, not broken, just not one installed. The Air Conditioning basically blew hot air around the room, at 3 different speeds. The hotel were asked on 2 occasions to arrange a taxi to take us the 1.5km to the railway station. On both occasions they failed to find one. This is also a problem to the town of Santa Marinella in general regardless of how much notice you give them (we asked the night before for the following morning), as any taxi drivers go 10 minutes up the road instead to pick up tourist business in Civitavecchia, and catch the more lucrative business wanting to go to Rome. The Hotel are well aware of this problem & do nothing about it. They should offer a shuttle service to/from the railway station at least, even if they have to charge for it. Instead they just shrug their shoulders and do nothing. There is a very irregular, infrequent, unreliable & limited bus service which goes from the railway station to nearby the hotel, but we only managed to catch it twice.Worst of all we had to drag our cases the 1.5 km from the station to the hotel both on arrival & departure from the "resort", such as it calls itself. The poolside bar closes at 1630, and the Restaurant doesn't open till 1930, just the 3 hours of the day when you would most like to buy refreshments, and can't.You cannot swim in the sea as it was too rough with a red flag flying every day, whereas the town beach 1km away was fine each day.
Review 47:The staff were friendly if somewhat helpless at times. The Restaurant staff were especially friendly & cordial. There was a supermarket nearby
Review 48:They don't tell you that the pool is a salt water pool, not a fresh water pool. Very unpleasant discovery after you've already checked in and go to swim.
Review 49:Sea view
Review 50:One room had a bit of a musty smell, and the air conditioning never worked, so it was much too hot. The other room was very nice and the air was cool. We thought it was strange to have to pay 5 euro per person in order to use the jacuzzi spa. This should be included in the hotel fee. The building was a bit run down on the outside, and could use some painting. Despite that, we really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend this hotel to anyone near Rome who would like to spend a couple of relaxing days at the beach!
Review 51:The people at the front desk were all very nice and friendly. We had 2 rooms with balconies and views of the sea. The bathroom in one of the rooms was very nice, and the room was bright and airy. The other room was not as nice. We enjoyed the beach chairs next to the pool and the view of the sea. Swimming in the sea was fantastic, the pool was very warm (almost too warm). We loved the restaurant across the street- beautiful views from the outdoor patio and the food was good. We wish there were more choices on the menu, though. The breakfast buffet was good, though the tables were not cleared off and we had to remove dirty dishes ourselves. We met some very nice Italian families, and it felt like a local Italian resort, and not a touristy resort. It was very relaxing and a perfect place to cool off after the intense July heat and humidity we had in Rome!
Review 52:The temperature of the sea was too low but it is not the hotel's fault! :)
Review 53:The place, room, all the staff (reception, beach, rooms, restaurant, etc.) and food in the restaurant were all very good and pleasant.
Review 54:We were at low season and despite the hotel was mentioned as 4-star,minibar had water only and swimming pool wasn't working.
Review 55:Nice view, clean rooms, swimming pool, bar & restaurant, privateparking. Waiter Tonino from the restaurant was very helpful withselection of food and drinks, thanks, Tonino!
Review 56:they need a real Air conditioning system and not just the fan blowing warm air
Review 57:close to Rome which is easy to access by nearby train station
