Reviews for Spring Valley Resort
Review 1:The only thing was that the food menu was not s varied as I would have liked.
Review 2:It is just so beautiful! Breath-taking location. The staff are lovely and welcoming. The rooms are luxurious (the bathroom maybe less so, but really nice for Cambodia), and it is a short walk to the sea. For excursions like Rabbit Island, the staff can help you to arrange. I am already dreaming of going back.
Review 3:Tired looking room. The door and wall of our room look dirty and could do with a retouch. Water in the wash was just a trickle.
Review 4:Staff were very friendly & courteous.
Review 5:A resort surrounded by beautiful jungle, passion fruits and palm trees. The food and cocktails are fantastic and set at a good price. Staff are helpful and friendly, always a smile and hello. Great value so close to the beach at kep and a til Tim ride from the crab market.
Review 6:Swimming pool was dirty and not well maintained
Review 7:Good location, nice surrounding among the greens, reasonable breakfast spread, helpful & friendly staff
Review 8:The room layout is kind of bizarre, with the bed in the middle. More storage would be useful.
Review 9:Kep beach is easily accessible from the hotel, the rest of Kep is just a tuk tuk ride away. The restaurant/bar has good, affordable dishes. Breakfast was pretty good.
Review 10:Pillows very high. Room and bed smelled a bit musty but to be expected in low rainy season.
Review 11:Fantastic location, beautiful grounds surrounded by nature everywhere, nice pool area, lovely staff and great restaurant.
Review 12:bathroom quite basic; ALL services offered at the reception desk include comission (either taxi or tuk-tuk or purchase of fresh green peper ...); pool tiles would require some repairs (you must be carefull in some places not to hurt yourself)
Review 13:you stay like in a botanical garden - exceptionally nice area of the resort; nice swimming pool (surrunded by the garden) very good location: walking distance to the beach, to crab market, next to main trekking piste of Kep National Park; quite big room, original tower-like buildings
Review 14:The staff was extremely helpful. Great hospitality and service. The hotel ground is very beautiful and peaceful, very nice swimming pool and the location is very convenient. Great value for money.
Review 15:The bathroom could have an update
Review 16:Beautiful located in a tropical garden. Romantic traditional wooden restaurant with great menu. Very good breakfast.
Review 17:We had problems with the water. Either no water at all, no water pressure or muddy dark brown water. The staff were excellent and kept trying to fix it for us and at the end gave us a fair discount. The wifi rarely worked.
Review 18:Location and setting is gorgeous and very close to town and beach. Staff were friendly and always helpful. Pool was lovely.
Review 19:Only negative was that they came to clean our room after we'd got back from a day trip, so our stuff was everywhere and we were checking out the next day anyway so we declined. Would have made more sense to come during the day while we were out.
Review 20:Staff were very welcoming & friendly with good local knowledge, so let us know how best to sort out going to Rabbit Island and organised bus tickets back to Phnom Penh for us. Swimming pool was also really good. Breakfast was a selection of fruit & bread with the option to have either pancakes or omelettes freshly cooked for you, very tasty!
Review 21:The facilities of their rooms should be improved /innovated as too dated and looks dirty
Review 22:Very convenient location as just 10 mins walk to entrance of national park, 15-20 walk to crab market, great food in their restaurant. It is surrounding by as a forest as many different fruit plants and flowers in the garden with tranquil environment. We had a great dinner with local cuisine
Review 23:The facilities in their rooms, should be improved or innovated as too dated and looks dirty
Review 24:The facilities in their rooms should be improved or innovated as too dated and looks dirty.
Review 25:Very convenient location as just 10 mins walk to entrance of national park, 15-20 walk to crab market, great food in their restaurant. It is surrounding by as a forest as many different fruit plants and flowers in the garden with tranquil environment. We had a great dinner with local cuisine. Great pool after hiking activity .
Review 26:Fist room I got smelled of smoke and I thought, if I open the window it will disappear. Next day when I got into the room it was full of heavy smoke front kitchen right behind the room. I requested another room. Second room had shower where drainage didn't work, so after the shower there was a big puddle.
Review 27:Surroundings, nice garden and stylish restaurant. Delicious homemade bead for breakfast.
Review 28:We had a few problems with the water not working in our room, although it was always fixed it became a bit annoying having to ask for the water buts to be refilled. Not bad enough to not stay there though!
Review 29:Great location, just a short walk from the beach and a few shops/bars. Excellent food and great staff and service. The street food Saturday was great fun!
Review 30:Breakfast - wasn't many choices, I missed more fruits and bacon but otherwise it was good.
Review 31:Nice jungle kinda place, pool area. Good location, near to beach. Little bit far form market and dinner places but if I be honest the best dinner place is next to the beach call The Beach House!! And you can always take a tuk-tuk to go to the market. Friendly staff. Room view was beautiful and clean room.
Review 32:Nice and quiet place with GREAT staff. Always happy to help or assist. On Saturdays they organize "Street food" dinner and on Sundays a seafood BBQ!
Review 33:Nestled into the tree covered hills around Kep but only a 5-minute walk to the sea shore, we had a very relaxing stay after a busy year in a delightful garden setting. We were greeted with the promise of being spoiled and we were well cared for. The staff were delightful and no request was too difficult. All the food and drinks were prepared with safe water and the meals were excellent. The open air restaurant became our office, lounge and comfortable space. The pool was pleasant and there were lots of places to just kick back. Our room was spacious with a good view all round and the beds were clean if not super luxurious
Review 34:The room was lovely, but the bathroom had seen better days and could do with a make-over. A fridge and some general hotel information would also have been useful. These are minor issues: overall I loved it.
Review 35:Very relaxing place with great staff. Lovely gardens and pool area. Great central location near the beach. Delicious breakfasts and also had several other meals; all very enjoyable. I had a problem with the shower, which was quickly fixed.
Review 36:The facilities could do with an upgrade.
Review 37:This is a quite hotel set in lush gardens only a short walk from the town and beach. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Review 38:We enjoyed our stay at spring valley. The staff are lovely and the restaurant food was excellent. The seafood BBQ especially good. We thought the room probably needs some repair as the roof had been leaking. Quality of the furniture not that great. Nice views and the pool was great but strangely the tiling in and around the pool has not been grouted! A nice walk through the national park nearby. Enjoyed all the seafood on offer.
Review 39:The bathroom is not confortable, the room large but did not give me the impression of being a clean place . It was disappointing, pictures didn' t match the room. I learned not to book a room that doesn't show a picture of the bathroom
Review 40:The place is really beautifuul , the staff very friendly, the restaurant was good and breakfast to . Large room
Review 41:Breakfast choice a little limited and not of as high a standard as the other food.
Review 42:Friendly and helpful staff, nice pool, natural scenery, good location, tasty food, happy hour, big room
Review 43:Nothing
Review 44:This resort we found fantastic though we were the only guests. The staff were brilliant, the food was excellent and we really enjoyed the pool and bar. We don't have a bad word to say about it. The only thing we would improve is we would have wifi in the bedroom.
Review 45:The staff at Spring Valley are fantastic, very helpful, friendly and accomodating. The setting is beautiful and even though you are close to the beach and shareing with others you can feel like you are alone. just perfect
Review 46:The room was extremely basic, showering with the toilet, creatures in the room and a damp smell. It was expensive for what you get.
Review 47:The staff are wonderful, extremely friendly in the restaurant.
Review 48:It was very stormy while we were there and the windows rattled very loudly all night so was noisy.
Review 49:Right near the national park with lovely walks, not far from the crab market where you can get yummy seafood! Great swimming pool.
Review 50:There s no TV. We expect to zap some channels. A kind of big lizard living inside the room, makes us a little bit surprise. Even it s a kind animal, we don't expect it here.
Review 51:Nice walk at inside the resort. Just 5mn walk to Kep national park. Warm swiming pool. Nice breakfast.
Review 52:Towels could be fresher
Review 53:Surrounded by nature. National Park and walk trail next door. Very short walk to Kep town and beach. Excellent restaurant on site
Review 54:Most of the furniture had its best time. We stayed for 5 days and we should not have to ask for clean sheets, pool was a bit murky.
Review 55:The staf is excellent, and made us feel comfortable. Any request was atended for. Loved the saturday night food fest.
Review 56:main courses diner expensive and not filling stomach no television bathrooms Always wet
Review 57:beautiful location nice swimmingpool adorable rooms good breakfast
Review 58:Close to the beach in Kep. Crab market a 20 minute walk or $2-3 dollar tuk tuk ride. Booked for 3 nights and ended up staying for 5. Staff are fantastic and the retaurant is great too. Small clean pool area with sun loungers. Saturday and Sunday evenings are good as have a street food event and BBQ in the evening. Very good.
Review 59:Nice to have the pool . Breakfast was good too. Quite and comfortable
Review 60:Simple but Nice place and nice staff
Review 61:It was quiet and lost in vegetation
Review 62:Nothing!
Review 63:The setting is beautiful, the food is great and excellent staff
Review 64:in the hotel has many big trees, natural, quiet for relax and enjoy swimming pool.
Review 65:Nice pool, brilliant staff, good breakfast.
Review 66:The staff was the nicest, most accomadating group we have ever experienced. Their warmth and genuine desire to help in any way they could
Review 67:Facility is not too modern, but clean enough.
Review 68:Staff
Review 69:booked hotel for pool.could not use it because the water dirty [green].some of food wasn,t great.
Review 70:The service is very good and location also.
Review 71:Great restaurant, close to the beach excellent service, homemade bread for breakfast!!!! Dont miss street food night on saturday
Review 72:More variety at breakfast
Review 73:Big room Balcony Quietness Restaurant
Review 74:all good
Review 75:The gardens and the staff. The breakfast was great
Review 76:The staff and the bar - food was also fabulous
Review 77:This place has serious charm and character - so glad we chose it !
Review 78:electric jar in room recommended
Review 79:good meal and kind staffs
Review 80:Liked everything
Review 81:Location to KEP Beach. Resort grounds with all the fruit trees. Fantastic staff. Good Wi-Fi. Excellent meals. Very very quiet.
Review 82:The gardens have become quite overgrown making rooms and much of the surrounding areas very dark, even at breakfast the restaurant was dark. The level of service low, Showers on the rooms get my vote for the worst showers we have experienced out of approx 18 hotels during our travels. Breakfast not good. This was not good VFM at $49 per night we have stayed in better that cost half this. The owners need to spend some money .
Review 83:The staff very helpful. Wish I could say more !!!
Review 84:Beautiful flower, fruit and vegetable gardens. Staff attentive and helpful. Good location very close to the beach and pleasant pool area. The best food we tasted in a whole full month of Cambodia. Incredible staff - Make you feel at home.We had a really good stay and were feeling welcome from the first moment we have arrived. Paradise!
Review 85:The rooms need to be updated to provide value compared to the rest of Cambodia. I appreciate it is a resort town with fewer tourists but the rates aren't comparable for the quality of the rooms.
Review 86:The staff were absolutely excellent who bent over backwards to help you. No matter the request they were ready to help and were extremely pleasant. The food was excellent and I think we ate the entire menu. Their 'street food' menu was an awesome idea.
Review 87:The food was a bit disappointing and for the price, I was surprised that the rooms did not have TVs.
Review 88:When we booked the rooms, the place was advertised as pet friendly so we brought our two small dogs. When we got there, they said we had to leave them outside the rooms! But the staff member called the manager and it turned out ok. I guess the place will be "no pets" from now on though. Everything was quite nice.
Review 89:Excellent staff and good, quiet location set in lush gardens. Spacious rooms, some with excellent views. Relaxed atmosphere. Wifi a bit slow and menu ok but not fantastic.
Review 90:Nothing.
Review 91:The staff are a credit to this resort. The pool is fabulous and is a great place to relax and unwind. the beach is walking distance and very sandy but there are no sun beds or loungers. We had a very unfortunate incident happen to us while staying here but the management and staff were wonderful and helped us out as much as they could. They should all be commended and our special thanks goes out to all of them.
Review 92:Unfortunately the room was lacking somewhat compared to other rooms in south Cambodia at a similar price it missed a second bedside table and lamp, some hooks for hanging clothes/towels etc. and most importantly a fridge! A poor response from the management when we tried to point this out. The breakfast was only average so we tended to go to a local cafe instead. Tried one evening meal but had to send it back due to inedible meat. A shame because the place has so much promise.
Review 93:The gardens and the pool are absolutely impeccable. Happy hour produced a first class bloody mary (called bloody hell). Great service from the very talkative staff. Very convenient for the beach and centre? of Kep.
Review 94:Two small details - sun loungers could use a cleaning and the towels in the room were a little ragged.
Review 95:Quiet and convenient location, nice grounds and pool area, spacious room, friendly/helpful staff, and great restaurant food.
Review 96:Bedsheets were too short, always coming out during the night; food was not great and the best thing they used to have on the menu (home made pepper bread with chicken and avocado) is no longer available; also no options if you don't like Khmer food; bathroom smells; no safe in the bedroom and windows don,t close properly
Review 97:Embraced by the forest and very near to the beach; nice and available staff
Review 98:The noise from the family above us was loud from just their walking and talking. I will book a top floor next time.
Review 99:Clean, friendly, great view, great location near hiking, beach. Clean pool.
Review 100:Fantastic oasis right next to the centre , beach, national park entrance and bus stop. Staff were so friendly and tried their best to practice their english, especially Jannie..(?) the newest recruit with only 2months service. The pool was perfect and the bar/ restaurant the perfect chill out place. Can't fault anything!!
Review 101:I hate to say it, but some of the food wasn't great. The cocktail happy hour was lovely but the food could be better. Still, certainly not a reason to stay away!
Review 102:Just beautifully thought through and presented in terms of atmosphere and location. It really did feel like paradise and this was aided by friendly staff, particularly a guy called Johnny, who we loved. The place has a warm, family feel and makes me want to visit Kep again in future. Thank you for making us feel so welcome and at ease.
Review 103:Incredible staff - Make you feel at home (Especially Channey!) . Food was of the highest standard. Rooms nice and big. Pool area private and beautiful. Absolutely loved it here and will one day return!
Review 104:Overpriced additional touring services and drinks (outside happy hours). Limited available deck chairs for the swimming pool, but we always found some. Staff is sometimes pushy to encourage you to eat at the hotel restaurant.
Review 105:We loved the pool and green garden all over the place. The restaurant is worth trying it. Breakfast is great.
Review 106:We could understand the management's reasoning but they don't allow babies in the pool so we couldn't make full use of it.
Review 107:We chose to stay in the traditional Khmer house on stilts and although there is no A/C the fan and mozzie nets were quite adequate. There's no sea view but the outlook over the beautifully mature and well-tended gardens was wonderful. An easy walk to Kep beach.
Review 108:road near to main gate needs real work.Clean up required outside of complex.
Review 109:Staff were great ,no better elsewhere.Good clean food, great on saturday night on the walkabout dinner . Will recommend to others going to Kep. greg @Gosford,Sydney.
Review 110:The wifi is best around the bar and the pool, not in the rooms - but honestly, who'd prefer to sit in their room anyway?
Review 111:Spring Valley Resort is ideally located just a block from Kep Beach, at the start of the trail into the National Park. The bread baker for the morning buffet is a genius.
Review 112:The food was excellent with v imaginative nightly set menu, however the a la carte was a bit confusing and limited - but in the scheme of things not a big problem in such a wonderful resort.
Review 113:Great location and proximity to beach and National park. Beautiful gardens with agreeable airy bar/restaurant and excellent pool area.Vg breakfast. This is as central as you can get in Kep for all facilities but you just tuktuk everywhere as this quirky town is spread over a large area. Well worth exploring the derelict ex colonial houses dotted around and enormous empty boulevards running through town before inevitable developments and so called 'progress' changes the wierd and wonderful feel of Kep.Make sure to go up to Led Zep Cafe.
Review 114:The main meals were poor. the fusion of local and western dishes didn't really work and our xmas day meal was a disappointment. There are however a whole host of great eateries nearby. Service was sometimes slow or confused.
Review 115:Lovely staff and during our stay, the resort was being managed by service consultants. The owners are obviously putting effort into improving the service. Great rooms, nice pool area anmd not too far from the beach and nearby restaurants. Good value for the rooms and a wide selection of drinks and snacks available in a nice restaurant.
Review 116:Be aware that there are no ATM's in Kep. You need to take all of the money you will need with you (although you can pay for the hotel with credit card). Also, take small denominations as people don't like breaking $50's or $100's. We forgot about this and ended up having to drive around for ages to find a hotel that would let us withdraw money.
Review 117:The staff were very helpful and spoke very good English. The owner is lovely. The room was great, although it should be noted that the booking system doesn't really distinguish very well between the rooms that are in a hotel style block and those which are in the pagoda style buildings. We thought we would be in a pagoda but we were put in the hotel block. The room was still great and had a fantastic view, so we didn't mind at all. The hotel is quite close to the beach and about a 15 minute walk along the coast to the crab market. It was fun to hire a motor scooter and drive down to the crab market, and also around the national park at the back of the resort. The food at the restaurant was fantastic. The grounds were amazing, with lots of edible plants that they then serve at the restaurant. The pool was great too. They serve you drinks by the pool (in plastic glasses). I would definitely go back here.
Review 118:The staff are fantastic, they are not only very friendly and helpful, but also seem to be trained very well. The restautrant offers daily dinner special, which is unique and on a higher level. They also have good and reasonable wines. The location is also convenient. You can go to the beach or the crab market by foot. The trekking course around the mountain is just out of the corner. And, it is so beautiful and clean everywhere in this resort.
Review 119:If you ask for a minivan towards Phnom Penh at the reception, do not be surprised when a medium bus is showing up.
Review 120:We had a really good stay and were feeling welcome from the first moment we have arrived.
Review 121:No mini fridge in the room
Review 122:The gardens and swimming pool were beautiful. We stayed in a deluxe room and it was very private, large and spacious. The staff were very sweet and packed us off with a freshly baked loaf of bread when we were leaving.
Review 123:i didn't like all the steps i had to walk up to get to my room. that's not really the hotel's fault. i'm just out of shape!
Review 124:the staff were great! they really went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. their fresh juices and the food were really tasty. they also helped organize tours and a non-pushy way. it is really quiet and beautiful!
Review 125:Everything! This is an absolute gem of a place to stay. Very friendly and personal welcome to gorgeous surroundings. Location is great ( no need for moto from bus) The room was spacious, clean and nice TV and big bathroom. The pool was fantastic, clean, towels provided for loungers and staff came by regularly asking if needed anything. The breakfast was good and have to say the homemade bread was lovely. However it is the staff that make this place truly special, they are AMAZING, I cannot praise them highly enough. I stayed two nights longer than planned and this was by far highlight of my trip. Absolutely recommend.
Review 126:there is not a single lamp in the room that would allow one to read a book! one evening there was only one choice for dinner---since we didn't like it, we had no choice but to go and find somewhere to eat.
Review 127:We had a room with terrace, which meant that we had a nice sea view; also the garden is well kept and the pool provides some compensation for the lack of a nice beach!
