Hotel Dei Capitani

Hotel Dei Capitani descritpion
Situated in the historical center of Montalcino, this 18th- century building is set in the marvelous Tuscan countryside, between the valleys of Arbia and Orcia.
The rooms to the rear enjoy breathtaking views of the Orcia and Arbia valleys and look out onto a large garden with a swimming pool, built in a style consistent with its Medieval surroundings. The remaining rooms, some of which are split-level, also retain the flavor of their ancient Tuscan setting.
Spend your days relaxing on the sun terrace, with large sun chairs and tables overlooking the magnificent Tuscan valley panorama, before taking a cooling dip in the pool, which sits in the extensive garden.

Reviews for Hotel Dei Capitani
Review 1:The view was spectacular . The breakfast area was comfortable and beautiful not to mention the excellent selection of offerings. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 2:The room was small and very dingy. The walls were dirty in places, in need of a coat of paint. The reception desk staff ( with the exception of the night gentleman) really needed to improve upon their skills. I asked if there were buses to Siena and one told me to check my device and another to go to the bus station and look at schedules, without giving any information to where the bus station was located. They all seemed rather unhappy, with no sense of pride in their job or in the facility.
Review 3:View of Tuscan countryside was exceptional. Location was also very convenient
Review 4:Fantastic location within the walls of Montalcino. A few minutes walk to the centre of the village. Pool was lovely and the breakfast was good. The coffee was excellent. The staff were very welcoming and very helpful. We had a really lovely stay.
Review 5:We did get the odd vehicle rumbling past our window, which was right on the street. More than you would expect for such a tiny little street
Review 6:Very close to the village centre, just a minute or two to walk. It's a hilly place though - all of it.
Review 7:Cannot recall any
Review 8:Beautiful view of the tuscan scenery, friendly staff, tasty breakfast, nice poole and restingarea. Very close to very good food and wine undisturbed. We look foreward to visiting another time.
Review 9:- Most amazing panaramic view, from pool area - good rooms & bed - good service oriented staff. Very friendly. Recommended restaurant was terrific - il grappolo blu - good breakfast
Review 10:Wonderful visit, we've been many times and it's always been very special on each occasion. We're very grateful for this little piece of heaven!
Review 11:It was very close to everything and the room was beautiful over looking the countryside. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again!
Review 12:Wi-Fi was down the first couple of days we were there, but they were able to correct it. This was a very minor issue however.
Review 13:Easy to find, excellent staff. Clean, spacious, and comfortable rooms. Very happy with my stay!
Review 14:Nearly flooded room due to awkward shower unit. Parking availability a challenge. Climb to town-center difficult, but worth it.
Review 15:View from room was spectacular! Must ask for a rear facing room.
Review 16:-wifi is not working in the rooms -some staff not very polite -worn down, needs to be refurbished
Review 17:-location -magnificent view from one side of the house
Review 18:We stayed here for the night at the end of a holiday in Tuscany. The Staff were really welcoming, the rooms spotless and very comfortable. Our children 10 & 12 were able to enjoy the pool and we all were taken with the stunning views from the rooms, breakfast terrace and the pool. Just a short walk to restaurants and bars.
Review 19:The male manager was great and always helpful, however his lady assistant was a bit nervous and did strange things, like insisting on us to bring safe keys back which we didn't even use or want. Probably this is not what we would want to remember as our last conversation with the staff.
Review 20:You must book a room with land view, otherwise you will get wall view room. The view is really amazing and stunning. The breakfast is average.
Review 21:One usually has to park a 10-minute walk away from the hotel, up a steep hill, in one of the public car parks. The beds and pillows are over-firm, and there's no bar.
Review 22:The hotel has wonderful views, a nice little swimming pool from which one can enjoy the view, a good breakfast, and helpful staff.
Review 23:Accommodation in the center, spacious room, excellent views from the terrace area, a varied selection of breakfast, parking without problems provided for free in the adjacent parking lot.
Review 24:Dei Capitani, of all of our hotels in Italy, was by far the most pleasant surprise. It is beautiful, clean and the staff was simply wonderful. If I return to Montalcino, I will absolutely stay here.
Review 25:Room was a little small

Review 55:The staff were nice. Good breakfast. Well located hotel.
Review 56:no particular problem I had.
Review 57:Staff are very kind to support when I had a question.
Review 58:- it was cold in the room - the water from the pool was very cold
Review 59:- the view
Review 60:Stay here for the view and the location.
Review 61:Paper thin walls
Review 62:Location
Review 63:the difficulty to reach the hotel by car
Review 64:Amazing hotel with amazing view and amazing staff. Everything was perfect, the staff was so friendly and helpful that they parked our car when we had to leave it going in the town. The view from the window and the swimming pool is just breath taking! Love this place.
Review 65:When arrived cigarrette bud was in a flower vase wet seemed like someone just finished, the noisy street after 4 am, housekeeping entered room 3 times while we were in the room without knocking and the beds were so uncomfortable, The bathroom had rust all around in the shower, but overall staff was very nice
Review 66:Staff was great
Review 67:Incredible view off the back patio. The room was large and clean. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. Very good stay in an amazing town. Would happily recommend this hotel.
Review 68:Wi-fi didn't function well.
Review 69:This is a sweet hotel in the heart of Montalcino. Our room was not that big, but consisted of two floors (loft-style) which made it feel very cozy. Good beds. A great breakfast room with a view.
Review 70:breakfast could be richer and better parking situation could be closer (10 min. walk, if the small parking lot at the hotel is occupied), no problem for me but maybe for older or handicapped guests
Review 71:The best and incredible view high above the most beautiful part of tuscany
Review 72:THe lighting in the bedroom was very poor.Breakfast was just mediocre.
Review 73:Hotel was close to the Main Street. The public rooms were very attractive and the staff was very pleasant and helpful.Parking was free.
Review 74:The staff was very lound during breakfast. The hotel room was a duplex with bathroom downstairs, not organised in a very practical way. Wifi didn't work because of weather problems, which is understandable, but neither did the internet on the hotel PC... There were no parking spots available in hotel parking. We had to park quite far in the village.
Review 75:The view. Great location in the center of the village of Montalcino. The reception staff was friendly and very helpful in giving information about the village. Parking was free.
Review 76:Our room was so noisy from intermittent clonks, knocks scraping coming through walls and roof throughout the night. My wife and I could not sleep at all. VERY DISAPPOINTED, as it was our most expensive hotel in our two weeks in Tuscany
Review 77:Location,staff,breakfast, fabulous view.
Review 78:A great little hotel with beautiful views and a friendly staff. We had a spectacular view of the Tuscan landscape from our rooms window. Nice patio for relaxing. Beautiful views from the breakfast dinning room.
Review 79:Location of the hotel is excellent. Views over the countryside from the pool are breath-taking. Lovely little town - this was our fourth visit and would still go back.
Review 80:Rooms a bit on the small side and continental breakfast rather basic.
Review 81:Well-located establishment close to the historical center with excellent friendly staff. Great views over the Tuscan countryside and Montalcino vineyards from room. Lovely breakfast terrace, lounge and swimming pool.
Review 82:I think they should provide anti mosquito tablets and device in the rooms as in the summer it is inevitable. The wifi did not work in the room which was a bit of a bummer.
Review 83:I loved the location and the pool with the view. The room was perfect for us. The breakfast was OK... the wifi did not work in the room but overall it was great quality for money.
Review 84:Our room was on two levels (one with the bathroom and the closet andthe other one with the bed) conected by some very stepped stairs. Thewalls were like made of paper, you could hear the neighbourswhispearing. In our last day we had to leave the room at 11 and we werelate 10 minutes so they called us the room to let us know that we werelate! The hotel has no restaurant or bar but if you want to have adrink on their terrace they are very restrictive (no glasses or foodaround the pool area where is most of the terrace actually). Overall, except for the excelent position, I would not give them more than 2stars for the comfort.
Review 85:The hotel is inside the city walls, it has free parking and fantasticview from the terrace. The breakfast was ok (something cooked though -like an omlette, sausages or some boiled eggs would be good).
Review 86:great location, easy to find with Sat-Nav, great staff, were extremely helpful with parking and at check-in. Large comfortable bed, and breathtaking views!
Review 87:In the afternoon the pool and surroundings are in the sunshade
Review 88:Fine hotel, nicely situated within townwalls, good breakfast, comfortable and spacy rooms
Review 89:The personell was not so helpful with questions...
Review 90:Top location including nice pool with beautiful sight into valley, special 2-story rooms with little "castle-feeling", beatifulterrace for breakfast, which is for Italy really good
Review 91:walls a bit thin so best to take earplugs, other than that no complaints!
Review 92:location in lovely town overlooking wonderful countryside, breakfast, views from terrace, comfy bed
Review 93:Beds were hard, and the walls are paper thin.Shower leaked badly.
Review 94:Great views and in the township.Good breakfast, and the terrace for breakfast is great.
Review 95:People are not to friendly. Same for the staff. Good service but more like part of the job. Walls are thin and can hear everything in adjacent rooms
Review 96:Area beautiful. Great drive getting there. Small castle town high on a hilltop.
Review 97:The sound travels easily through the thin walls between the rooms. The rooms are quite small but clean.
Review 98:The hotel is well situated in the village of Montalcino. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is nice and the view in the morning facing the rising sun is stunning.
Review 99:The rooms are absolutely without sound proofing so we did not sleepwell. A party of Brazilians seemed to be tap-dancing our ceiling - not agood experience
Review 100:It has a nice view
Review 101:bathroom would deserve little more care
Review 102:huge view, breakfast excellent, location close to old city centre
Review 103:Nothing :)

Review 111:Requested a view room, and Wow, what a view of Tuscany.
Review 112:A friendly and helpful staff Perfect location in our favorite Italian village We have stayed here before
Review 113:Wi-fi took a long time to work and parking was not easy.
