Reviews for Saint John Hotel

Review 1:No kettle. Very dirty toilet with some one hair choking the bathing place...no variety in breakfast..lucky we stayed one night only..very old furniture..

Review 2:Nothing...:((((

Review 3:Water pressure in the room is not the best.

Review 4:Abslutey friendly staff , helpful and kind. The food of the roof top restaurant was fantastic. And the view up there is great!

Review 5:Try to put a kettle with some tea bags and coffee in the room

Review 6:Staff is exceptional Omar the new manager is really helpful Taleen as always welcoming with her smile

Review 7:We had difficulties to find the exit for Madaba from the desert road, and also the hotel in Madaba : in top of a location map, you should provide some itinerary indications. Duvets had no covers for 2 beds out of 3. Clients were noisy and smoking in the corridors late in the night.

Review 8:The staff was very pleasant both at the reception, breakfast and check out. Rooms are large for the category.

Review 9:Fantastic service from the owner! Felt very safe as a single female traveler. Great location and very nice beds. Great spot for a late night arrival from the airport.. very easy drive.

Review 10:The hotel is clean enough but far from immaculate and the breakfast is pretty terrible.

Review 11:madaba is perfectly located only 20 minutes from the airport. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 12:Nothing to add.

Review 13:I liked the location very much. Breakfast was good and staff has been very helpful. View from rooftop restaurant down to the city was excellent. Room had a large balcony. Hotel was clean. Overwhelming staff all of them.

Review 14:The staff and service at this hotel was excellent! We had been to Wadi Rum that morning and drove all the way back so we reached Madaba late in the evening and could not find the location easily because the google maps directions were faulty. The staff was quite helpful over the phone and helped us find the hotel. We even requested for a late checkout the next day as we had a late flight out of Amman the next day and they agreed very nicely and graciously. All the staff at the hotel is excellent and went out of their way to help us whenever required. The food and the ambience at the rooftop restaurant was amazing.

Review 15:it was the best comfortable hotel that I had stayed in recent times and the hotel manager Mr.Omer Al Farah is very friendly and helpful, all facilities in the hotel were of top quality.

Review 16:We travel a lot and this hotel is one of the most over-rated hotels in our experience. When we arrived we got a room where duvets had no cover!!! We asked for it and had to make the beds for ourselves. The room had 2 tiny windows, looking to nowhere. The bathroom was explicitly dirty even by local standards. All of this was not so big of a problem, but they have an open restaurant at the roof, in which there was a huge party with extremely loud music until 2 am. We could still hear the noise of cleaning until 3 am. This is just not acceptable. If you want an open rooftop restaurant with music, then make the rooms properly soundproof. The street is also not quiet and the entire area did not feel safe especially during the evening. Trash on the streets everywhere. Madaba can be done as a half-day tour and we do not recommend staying overnight in this city.

Review 17:Friendly staff. We got a reduction from the price, because of complaints. This we really appreciate and that's why we don't give an even worse rating.

Review 18:The bed was not so comfortable, and there is a mosque very close by so it is impossible to sleep in the morning.

Review 19:Nice location in the center of Madaba and friendly staff. Nice view from the roof. The staff was very flexible on our checkout time so that was nice.

Review 20:Cleanliness of bathroom.

Review 21:Great location within walking distance of all major tourist attractions. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great views from 'rooftop' restaurant.

Review 22:Great central location, walking distance from all major sights - St George's church, St John's church, the mosaic centre. Our room was large, spotesslessly clean, newly furnished with high quality bed linen and a very comfortable bed, balcony. Omar, the hotel manager, couldn not have been more helpful and welcoming.

Review 23:The noise in the neighborhood especially late at night. The price of drinks in the bar is quite expensive

Review 24:The staff at the reception was excellent especially Taleen....

Review 25:The parking lot could be improved and we had an difficult time finding the hotel.

Review 26:Beds were great. Staff was friendly and helpful.Restaurant was enjoyable.

Review 27:Super friendly and accommodating staff. They even packed our breakfast for the road to the Baptism Site early morning before the kitchen opened! Whatever request we had (among them a blocked sink), it was taken care of promptly. The location is right in the middle of all the sightseeing attractions and good restaurants. The rooftop restaurant might have the best views in all of Madaba. We'll come back for a third time.

Review 28:Breakfast a bit boring. No tv chanels. Pros. far outweigh the Cons.

Review 29:Friendliest staff ever, couldn't do enough for us. Lovely rooftop bar and restaurant.

Review 30:For some reason there was an extra single bed in our room which meant we couldn't access wardrobe or safe. Was ok for us as only 2 nights & at end of trip. Couldnt get TV to work, again OK for us as we were out touring mostly.

Review 31:Lovely outdoor terrace for breakfast, drinks, dinner etc. we had a tasty lunch there. Friendly. Good check in welcome.

Review 32:Nothing

Review 33:The staff is wonderful : very helpful, they explained us everything, they made phone calls for us and gave us free bottles of water The view on the roof is beautiful Nice breakfast and nice restaurant Nice rooms, comfortable and very clean We went back to this hotel a second time during our holidays, an it was perfect again

Review 34:no complaints at all

Review 35:VERY friendly staff, good wifi, nice breakfast Perfect place to stay if, like us, you have a late flight in and head to the Dead Sea the next day. Even though we were only there from 1am-10am they couldnt have done more for us.

Review 36:Nothing, everything was perfect.

Review 37:Friendly staff, awesome location, free Wifi. Omar and Yazeed really careto make you a perfect night in their Hotel. I totally recomend thisplace to stay in Madaba. It was the best hotel that we had in all ourweek in Jordan.

Review 38:nothing

Review 39:this hotel is open 24/7 just between the two churches of Madaba (five minutes by feet) with safe parking, lovely rooms, perfect and adorable staff : a special mention for the breakfast on the terrace : just magical !!

Review 40:the internet connection is terrible and our beds were previously used by someone so we had to ask for change.

Review 41:The hotel is perfectly placed. Just 1 minute from old christian church where you might remain of old Maadaba, and around 5 minutes walking to old orthodox church (mosaic). Hotels itself is too expensive for the service its provide (no value for money)

Review 42:As with many buildingd and hotels in the middle east first immpression from the parking lot--dirt and lots of holes first thought could have been....oopsy! However, being aware of this fact we reserved judgement and were very pleasantly admitted into a modern, fairly expansive foyer, tiles and glass everywhere, and above all a very friendly and welcoming staff who throughout our three night stay were helpful beyond expectation. Rooms clean, showers hot, elevator working. Dining room with small bar. Terrific views of the city. Right next to a beautiful mosque on one corner and a splendid church on another. Outdoor eating areas available and rooms with terraces. Prices excellent and in full view at reception desk. Advice for first timers: If driving just aim for the church spire with the cross on it to find the hotel---highest point in Madaba. Overall excellent value for money. Highly reccommend.

Review 43:It is not exactly square of Medaba but city is so small and in 5 min on foot you will be in the center... When we were there i think we were the only guest whom stay in the hotel, it made us feel alit strange....

Review 44:Extraordinarily helpful staff especially Mr. Omar is very helpful Good value for money In Medaba where is enough to stay one night, you should prefer this hotel

Review 45:It was a little difficult to locate/navigate to the location of the hotel via my own vehicle, but that is more due to the map data available on my GPS/SatNav. The location itself is very convenient and parking was not a problem once I arrived.

Review 46:I really liked this hotel. Conveniently located and fairly modern with an environmentally conscious touch, which didn't take away (even enhanced), from the quality. They provided a complimentary beverage from the mini bar, nice room facilities, and an excellent hotel info packet with extensive detailed information in the room. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and genuinely very nice people. It was a pleasure to stay here. Great personal breakfast, too!

Review 47:As an Australian Citizen our comments are --We like their hospitality. It's unbeatable. We have traveled near about 40 countries. We have not ever seen this type of hospitality from other countries. This hotel is fully exceptional than others. There is a guide whose name is Ashraf. He is a really a nice guy.Every one should take him as a guide. Each & every one knows good English in this hotel. Again thanks all these hotel staffs. See you again. B-y-e from Q. Zaman.

Review 48:Asking for our marriage certificate before allowing us to check in

Review 49:The hospitable staffs and owner of hotel who made effort to give us the experience of our stay. The room is clean and comfortable. We also enjoy the rooftop restaurant with wonderfull view over madaba.

Review 50:The breakfast needs improvement. The hotel is hard to find, it does not exist on any maps. The hotel ddoes not accept credit cards.

Review 51:The location is fantastic with walking distance to all the sights. The top terrace has a fantastastic view over the city. The rooms are large and comfortable.

Review 52:Breakfast could be better

Review 53:The staff is young, perfect, very kind and ready to offer a perfect accommodation. Room large and clean. The location is great. Free parking very close.

Review 54:We love everything about the hotel especially the staff.

Review 55:Even before we arrived we were offered a late checkout without charge since our flight was past midnight. Taleen the front desk manager and Omar the General Manager were most pleasant and helpful throughout our stay. They went out of their way to find information for us. We felt so welcome at the hotel and it really made our trip so much more memorable.

Review 56:The hotel is about a year old and can be hard to find at first. Heat was not working, the staff looked at it and offered to move us, however, since we were only there at night they gave us a space heater and we pressed on. These things happen and the staff attempted to correct the problem.

Review 57:Staff was great, rooms clean however a little cramped, but we used it as a place to sleep between day trips. Despite a small inconvenience we had a great stay and would go back.

Review 58:The shower basin was slightly clogged but not a big deal. Nobody came to clean the whole 3 nights we stayed. Normally it wouldn't be a prob but there were stains on the bed sheets when we arrived and would've liked to have the replaced but wasn't that much of an issue the fact we just left it.

Review 59:Friendly staff, great location only mins walking from points of interests and restaurants, the first place in Jordan that we stayed where there's continuous good wifi connection. Breakfast buffet with local fair of breads, hummus, meat, eggs and other pastry with options of western breakfast such as toast and jam and cereal.

Review 60:After my friend and I had an unfortunate accident, the staff went above and beyond to help us. They were so efficient that we still had plenty of time to see Madaba!

Review 61:We didn't get room service once inthe middle of our stay even though we requested it. It was difficult to get dry clean towels. The shower drain was poorly draining resulting in a mini pool up to the ankles.

Review 62:The views from the terrace were breathtaking. Room was comfortable and clean and staff very helpful, accommodating and friendly. The restaurant food was very good and the staff there very nice.

Review 63:The hotel offer you a effective and fast service of transport, but it is more expensive than the public buses and the shared buses (with these buses you can go for much less money to any place at any moment of the year). The hotel does not provide you that information if you don't insist. They tell you that is more practical to use their service (and maybe be true if you have money and you can) because it is effective; but if you don't have much money and you don't have problem of taking buses and to talk with local people, this option is better due to the price. We didn't feel less safe in that buses (as the staff of the hotel insinuated at some moment). You must to insist since the staff can book places for you at these buses. Anyway, you can do it by yourself: by Internet (looking for the companies that operates there) or by to the buses's office.Anyway, you can do it by yourself, by Internet or by the buses's office. You will need a taxi to go to the buses but the price should not be expensive, it is not too far.

Review 64:The restaurant is really beautiful! One girl from the staff really kind. Fantastic breakfast!

Review 65:not in main street but still ok.

Review 66:Very nice roof restaurant with bealtiful city view and deli local cuisine. room with balcony, close to St John church and Museum. friendly staff. breakfast is also very good.

Review 67:the breakfast was poor.they only served arabic breakfast.the double room was quite small.

Review 68:Τhe location of this hotel was very good. Very near to the sites of Madaba. The staff at the reception and restaurant were helpfull and they even let us keep the room for another 10hours without charge.the beds were extremelly comfortable.and the hot water was always available.

Review 69:Noisy room due to a wooden door seperating from a connecting room.

Review 70:Good location in the center of Madaba. Nice room. Great breakfast and view from the terrace.

Review 71:Now that they have built a great hotel, their efforts should be to create a great neighborhood. Their visitors will appreciate and witness such vision.

Review 72:The family that run this new hotel in Madaba are to be commended for their excellent hospitality. The location of this new hotel is a novelty, at the top of the old city. We had a great time, and a well-extended check-out to get us late to the airport. This will be a new, affordable center for tourism in Madaba!

Review 73:Breakfast was very basic and dull.

Review 74:Location was good although difficult to find a first. Staff were friendly and helpful. Taxi arrangement was reasonably priced. Mini bar was provided for free.

Review 75:The hotel is excellent and everything is new and in great shape. There's only one minor caveat: It's on a one-way street and not yet known by out-of-town taxi drivers.

Review 76:The location is perfect - in close proximity to the orthodox church and the best restaurants in town. I had to get to the airport at 12:30 in the night. The hotel was quiet enough for me to get some sleep before the flight and the drive to the airport took less than half an hour thanks to the taxi driver the hotel organized and his knowledge of some unusual roads.

Review 77:This has nothing to do with the hotel but the city itself is not very nice, except mosaic related places which are really great.

Review 78:Very good hotel; close to Amman airport(~30Km). Can be a good base for exploring central& north part of Jordan. Big & clean rooms. Good breakfast with local specialities. People at the hotel are very welcoming & friendly. Overall good value for money.

Review 79:wish I could stay longer

Review 80:nice staff, good location, tourist sites and streets within walking distance, clean room and bed, strong showering water, nice view of the city from the sky bar.

Review 81:No tea or coffee in rooms. Poor water pressure in the shower. No glasses in the room to drink beverages from. A funny smell in the corridors.

Review 82:Staff there to greet you as you pull up in a taxi. Very Friendly, helpful, polite staff. Soft drinks in Bar refreshed every day free of charge. Big rooms. Comfy beds. Location. Taxis provided at a good price (Ask for Ash) Friendly locals

Review 83:One extremely good surprise, the beds are fantastic. The staff is very attentive and helpful. The restaurant was really good with a great service. Next time I travel to Jordan my first stop will be there. A place where you feel as relax as if you were at home.

Review 84:The wake up call from the local mosque - my room was at the back ofthe hotel.

Review 85:Friendliness if all staff and enthusiasm and food from the newrestaurant manager.

Review 86:We had small issues related to Eid (travelling during public holidays can be an issue everywhere) as there was no hot water one evening. Everyone was celebrating and the delivery of gaz was delayed.

Review 87:I would recommend this hotel as it has everything - the location is perfect, staff is friendly and helpful, breakfast is lovely, there is rooftop restaurant available (great view to Madaba), beds were really confy and we had the best sleep in Jordan there. We booked one day trip with them and our driver was really lovely.

Review 88:nothing, would highly recommend this hotel if staying in madaba

Review 89:nice restaurant, staff extremely helpful and very genuine, rooms are modern and well equipped, tastefully decorated to a high finish

Review 90:Humm that's a trick question as everything was quite the way i wanned to be ..plus that anything I suggested thy try to fix it immediately for me and other guests so nothing really

Review 91:So here it goes .. well first of all i got to say the I'm really happy with my tiny vacation i intended to stay for one night but everything was so perfect that I staid for another night.. 1. Staff veeery friendly and helpful and accepts any recommendation and they are trying their best to make you comfortable 2. Rooms are very clean and very comfy bed 3. I asked for a hair drier and as soon as i got their it was in the room already 4. Restaurant "skybar" delicious food and great service... all are helpful but when you don't know what to have just ask the service manager Nabil and blindly trust his choices 5. Reception.. 24 hours always there when you need any help both of them 6. Events, i attended their first bingo and karaoke night.. which will be every Saturday and it was amazing they offer a free meal for every bigo paper you buy and I'm guessing the drinks as well .. 7. Manager .. he's so kind and friendly and keep checking if you're happy everynight at the skybar.. and what i loved about him is that his passion for Madaba in general and his absolute love for the business he's running!! I loved everything about it and i would love to visit it again in the future

Review 92:Had a minor problem with the shower. WiFi should have a stronger signal... but it worked well enough, just slower than we were used to.

Review 93:Pretty much everything about St. Johns Staff always went overboard to please. Breakfast meal was excellent.

Review 94:Initially we had no hot water, but instead of hiding the truth from us, the staff told us what was going on. (The diesel truck hadn't arrived yet after a holiday-Eid)

Review 95:We liked the clean rooms The showers were clean and didn't leak all over the floors The Sky Bar on the top floor was a perfect place to watch the sunset after a hot busy day The staff treated us like family This is a quiet and reasonable alternative to staying in Amman

Review 96:The beds were the best that we had during our 2 week vacation in Jordan. The rooms were spacious and freshly painted and decorated. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Thanks to Mr. Salman, Omar and Nazir for a very pleasant stay.

Review 97:Breakfast was a little poor, could be improved

Review 98:Staff was very helpful and made us feel very welcomed. Location is perfect. Would stay there again for sure.

Review 99:This is the best hotel in Madaba. The General Manager was so friendly and made us feel so welcome. Our room was lovely and had a great balcony and view of the city. I would highly recommend this hotel to any visitors to the city. A+

Review 100:cold water in the shower WiFi signal in the room was bad to non existing

Review 101:nice location with private parking friendly staff nice clean rooms really good beds great roof top terrace for breakfast or a drink in the city centre of Madaba so easy to see Madaba by foot

Review 102:Most of days I had good night sleep, but Sun I was woke up by the mosque morning prayer and bells of two neighbour churches.

Review 103:The room was a good size clean and comfortable. There is a room for improvement of breakfast.

Review 104:It's very simple.

Review 105:Excellent location in the heart of Madaba on the top of a hill. Top floor restaurant provides panoramic views. Extremely friendly and helpful staff.

Review 106:Breakfast could have been better..But quite happy with what was served. .

Review 107:Staff are very helpful. The hotel front desk manager Omar helped us with getting around in madaba as well as get a reliable taxi to Petra via the kings highway. Breakfast was ok. The rooftop restaurant has a good view of a nearby mosque and is a nice place to hangout in the evening for a drink and dinner. It's open till midnight and has outdoor seating. Room is a decent size and we got the one with a balcony. Clean bathroom with basic toiletries. . There is parking space available next to the hotel. We had a comfortable stay and would definitely recommend this place for budget travellers.

Review 108:Unclean - our bottom sheet filthy (huge yellow stain, a lot of hairs and bits from feet!); they moved us to a second room - still wasn't convinced bottom sheet clean, but too tired to move again. TV didn't work (both rooms) and they provided scales ....but glass top really filthy and again didn't work. Tiles on floor really dirty around edges. I think their cleaner is cutting corners! Should have been a great hotel...but an air of carelessness.

Review 109:Location, restaurant and views. Staff nice, as well.

Review 110:Our stay at the Saint John Hotel in Madaba was great. Amazing staff, big comfy rooms, great value for money. The restaurant on the top floor is really nice too, with a pleasant view

Review 111:There were some noices in the neighbourhood what disturbed us while sleeping - thats why the director gave us the night for free!!!! thanks for that

Review 112:Stuff was very warm and friendly, a lot of good energy in this hotel. Also Ladie´s are working in this hotel, which is very very nice. Restaurant is excelent and also the brakfast is very nice. The hotel has a cooperation with a taxi driver who is a piece of gold and heart - we were so happy to meet him - he always tries to find a solution for us and all did care a lot for us!!!!

Review 113:Great value, new eco-friendly hotel. The rooftop bar/restaurant overlooked Madaba and happily served food late into the night. Staff are extremely welcoming and hospitable. Parking was found in the empty allotment next to the hotel.

Review 114:Breakfast and restaurant are really OK, but don't expect a five star choice. If you want early breakfast, make clear arrangements with the staff.

Review 115:This hotel is definitely good value for money. Manager Laila and personnel is extremely helpfull. Special thanks to Omar. We stayed her for 9 days to explore the north of Jordan. Rooms are very clean and we enjoyed our breakfast at the rooftop terrassee restaurant, which was really fine. For your day trips, do not hesitate and go by taxi: ask for Ashraf: he is honest, speaks good english and is very good company. To eat out, go to "abbey road" restaurant (just round the corner) their chef worked in Italy, food is excellent and reasonably priced.

Review 116:Everything was just great especially the proprietor Omar's attention to all my needs. I am more than greatful!!!

Review 117:The staff/owner are very very friendly and helpful (especially Omar, Jazeed, Talin, etc). It makes me feel like home

Review 122:Wifi not working in the room
