Reviews for Grand Hotel Madaba
Review 1:For a fairly new hotel, there were too many clunky things, like my room door would not close without being slammed, and the water pressure was not at all good. Little things, all.
Review 2:The bed was great, the decor delightful, and the people were very helpful.
Review 3:The ac is different from most of the hotels and nobody has explained us how to use it.
Review 4:The location is good. Easy to reach Airport with new connection.
Review 5:The toilet in our room was dirty. If we hadn't just arrived from a long car ride, I would have called to get someone to clean it, but I really needed to use it. It had clearly not been cleaned since the last guest - neither inside or out. I used some of the shampoo to clean off the seat... Our traveling companions' room had food and trash left behind the door to the room, so obviously not well cleaned either. Strangely enough the cover on our bed was for a smaller bed and didn't even reach to the sides without people under it - I'm guessing a twin size futon for a queen size bed. Yes, we should have called to get it changed, but who makes a bed up with the wrong size comforter? We only spent one night there, without much time in the room, and we were leaving at 4:30 in the morning - so calling the front desk to take care of these things was just not done.
Review 6:We enjoyed the pool and deck area very much after spending the morning in the desert and then a long drive in the car. We left very early in the morning so didn't get to experience the breakfast buffet.
Review 7:Room was more or less clean according to local standards. We'vebeen to better rated and much dirtier places. Walls between rooms arethin, so we could hear our neighbor's tv during the whole night. But you won't find easily a quiet place to stay in Jordan and wehad much worse experiences at other places. Generally I do notrecommend Madaba as a destination. It can be done as a half-day tourfrom Amman or the Dead sea.
Review 8:Quiet surrounding, but far from city centre (and not a nice walk tothere). Room is big, staff is nice.
Review 9:The room was not well cleaned or maintained - floor under the table was very dusty; some tissues and plastic wrapper inside a drawer, broken closet door, lamp did not work. Booked a room with King bed and ended up with a room with two beds - not useful and kind of crowded for one person. Breakfast was basic.
Review 10:Polite and helpful staff. Room and bed was comfortable and the location is quiet but still walking distance to main sites, and with close restaurants / shops
Review 11:The swimming pool and terrace around it. Good music, also excellent food. We asked for flavoured shisha (hooka) and had a bucket of ice with our beers in it to keep them cool. The bedroom was good, and looked recently renovated. Management even offered to keep our luggages safe even after we checked out. I would recommend this hotel to any travellers looking to explore an ancient city with lots of heritage, but also looking to have a modernized stay.
Review 12:I thought the breakfast was very average. A bit more variety with cereals/pastries would be good. The coffee was however very good.
Review 13:Very helpful staff. Room was extremely clean. Lovely outdoor area to sit and enjoy the weather.
Review 14:A bit far from the city center by foot ( more than 10 mn) Breakfastterrible... Dry bread, and 30 mn later comes the coffee...and the coffee(turkish), was terrible too ( not filtered, half of the cup filled withcoffee powder..i could not drink it). Staff cant speak english
Review 15:The bedding The fact that the wifi is free, so rare in jordan Thekindness of the girl at reception, the only competent person in thestaff
Review 16:Smoking in hotel and lifts. Where table and chairs moved in room, floor not clean.
Review 17:Good staff. Connient location for town. 25 min from airport. Nice meal at night, even though the only diners - lack of tourists in Jordan.
Review 18:Wifi connection keeps on disconnecting on the fourth floor. If you want good internet connection go to the lobby.
Review 19:On a very cold night in January, after sleeping on the benches of the airport waiting for our delayed flight, a couple of friends of mine and I could not travel as our flight got cancelled. We had to go from the airport to Madaba, and the only hotel available was the Grand Hotel Madaba, we stayed there for a night, and it was such a relief. It was very comfortable and the staff was very helpful and nice. I would definitely recommend the hotel as it is also very close to markets.
Review 20:Everything on the dinner menu was not available. The promised early morning call did not happen! The breakfast boxes did not materialise.
Review 21:Nice large room with tea and coffee facilities
Review 22:We booked this for our last day of our holiday. We wanted to stay by the pool for the day but found the pool was drained and the area just had some upright chairs and no loungers. Hotel not branded Best Western, so spent a long time looking for it.
Review 23:Rooms spacious and clean and bed comfortable. We arrived in the morning but was given the room early.
Review 24:The pool was closed. The staff is not particularly friendly. The furniture is rickety. The breakfast was of poor quality.
Review 25:Good location near the center and relatively calm. The deluxe rooms are spacious.
Review 26:The only negative was not bringing any family members, or friends, along to enjoy the stay as much as I did. It was excellent, really.
Review 27:Thought the food, quality and speed of service, as well as friendliness of staff was off the charts. Would do it again without a doubt!
Review 28:breakfast was poor pool out of service , despite the temperature over 30C because already in autumn WIFI signal low , often disconnecting
Review 29:It is a few minutes walking from the centre of Madaba ,very good location to visit the city Rooms are quite big
Review 30:Bed leg broken, dirty linen and glasses, staff in lounge - lunch was an hour late according to the time indicated at entrance; guide couldn't find hotel due to difference in names: Best Western Grand Hotel is the Grand Madaba Hotel.
Review 31:Decor, view, location, staff at front desk, food (dinner, breakfast)
Review 32:i did not like the food, the swimming Poole is too deep for children and no life gard available. there is no night club
Review 33:not much may be just the hotel low rate
Review 34:little pricey, at night some staff member smoke at the reception and they dim the lights!! asked for a taxi service from the airport and was told ok but then they did not arrange one! booked two rooms, but in their data base they booked only one for me although they had the info for the other one!!!
Review 35:staff is extremely friendly, very clean hotel, room service is amazing, breakfast was very very good, not very far from amman which is good too
Review 36:Room terrible. AC not work properly. Toilet broke. Shower flooded.
Review 37:Nice lobby
Review 38:bathrooms uncomfortable beds room was too cold in wintertime
Review 39:great location friendly and helpful staff
Review 40:The wifi was always down and the bathroom leaked most of the time
Review 41:The people were very pleasant
Review 42:Helpful efficient staff
Review 43:Room 215 is amazing
Review 44:Very friendly staff
Review 45:The staff is nice and helper.
Review 46:Most of all, we liked the charming and kind staff at the reception and in the breakfast room, very helpful, offering good practical suggestions
Review 47:There were fairly major road works in the centre of town which made it a little tricky to find ... but hey ... that's Jordan!
Review 48:Staff, bed, room
Review 49:WIFI service is free but very good
Review 50:Great value with friendly staff and easy parking
Review 51:Breakfast not much varieties
Review 52:Clean
Review 53:Nice staff, very comfortable, quite good location.
Review 54:Staff Room Food
Review 55:Close but not too close to the town centre. Easy car parking. Plenty of local places to eat and shop at reasonable prices.
Review 56:Good quality of the hotel and good food. Wide room and very quiet.
Review 57:I have to put the password for the wifi each time I want to use the internet in my phone.
Review 58:It's nice and clean. The breakfast is good.
Review 59:Actually, there is nothing not to like. I was really lucky to choose this hotel and I will definitely visit it again. I recommend it to everyone.
Review 60:Madaba Grand Hotel was an excellent choice, everything you need was available and the food was delicious, staff were friendly, shish was super, location was perfect and the rooms were very clean and comfortable.
Review 61:I really can't remember anything that I didn't like.
Review 62:The Hotel was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. very friendly staff. comfortable environment. great food. amazing rooms.
Review 63:great location and very friendly staff.the room was well cleaned pool view which i recommend, the breakfast had a wide range of varieties &free WiFi
Review 64:that there is no more hotels like this one. :(
Review 65:best hotel. everything was perfect. STAFF WAS AWESOME !!! we arrived to the hotel in the night after along day in the desert, the staff was very kind, give us drinks, help with the bags, open the restaurant and make a very good food, make the reservation quickly, the rooms was very clean, and comfortable. absolutely we will come back.
Review 66:Not fully open and unprepared for serving dinner. Lack of attention to detail, i.e. dirty fork from dinner on breakfast table!
Review 67:Clean new hotel with lovely rooms
Review 68:They had a wide variety for breakfast. If you have an early tour, they will fix you a to-go breakfast box with sandwich and fruit. The staff was very helpful. The manager, Maher, was very professional in making sure you were very comfortable. They arranged pick-up from the airport. My driver was Fakhrey and he was my driver during my entire stay.
Review 69:We had a room on the street which was a bit noisy because of building work in the street. To be fair to the Hotel though it wasn't their fault.
Review 70:The staff was extremely helpful and welcoming despite us turning up at 1am!
Review 71:I booked a "superior king room"what I got was a large room with 3 beds and no balcony! Quite what they thought a single occupant would do with three beds is beyond me! Although the hotel was spotless and the breakfast varied, it all felt too clincal and there was no atmosphere. Also my booking was supposed to be prepaid but for the second consecutive time via booking.com, it wasn't. Very frustrating. Not sure if this is a hotel issue or a booking.com issue but frankly it amounts to little more.than false advertising; even more aggravating when the exchange rates change so it costs more!!! Oh and my airport shuttle was booked for the wrong time; it was only a little thing but along with the items above made me wish I'd stayed at the Mariam next door.
Review 72:Warm welcome from staff on arrival. Choice at breakfast.
Review 73:Nothing
Review 74:This was the best hotel we stayed at in Jordan. Although it is a chain, which I usually avoid, it had much more personality than most. Friendly staff, great pool, good breakfast and very handy location for the sights of Madaba. Well recommended and very good value.
Review 75:Nothing as such, only wifi signal strength was not cinsistant. The children were disappointed to know that the swimining pool is closed, only opens from 1st of May
Review 76:The room and facilities were excelent. We realy enjoyed staying there. The staffs were very helpful.
Review 77:nothing bad....
Review 78:best hotel, best staff, best food, it's a perfect hotel. we arrived to the hotel in 22:00 after every long way in the desert, the staff welcome us with drinks, and was very professional and kind. the hotel is very clean, the restaurant cheep and have a very good food.... absolutely recommend on this hotel.
Review 79:Reasonably convenient for Amman and the airport but maybe not as much as we had been lead to believe by other reviews on here.
Review 80:Helpful staff, meals were good, complimentary ticket to museum. When we left too early for breakfast, the hotel prepared breakfast boxes to take with us.
Review 81:The pool was closed, which was disappointing, as we have 2 children.
Review 82:We liked the convenience of the hotel and the Ayar restaurant across the street! The staff were very good and emailed me before our stay to confirm a parking space for us very kindly. You could walk to many places in the city and that was nice.
Review 83:Toilet didn't flush when we arrived into our room and plumber had to be called to rectify this. The safety deposit box in room was shut and staff could not unlock it. Manger had to be called to use key to unlock it. Following day our room was not cleaned. When we complained about this there were several excuses given - one that they had knocked on the door and thought we didn't want to be disturbed when there was no answer (that was because we were out seeing the sites), the second excuse that we had told one of the staff not to clean the room - not true because we had a baby with soiled nappies and as you couldn't flush the toilet paper down the toilet we certainly wanted the room cleaned every day. There was no Do not Disturb Sign for the room. Then we couldn't sleep on our second night because there was a problem with the door - the alarm kept going off all night. Then one of the staff told us when we made a complaint that they had a problem with it before. When we mentioned this to the manager, she said it was with another room. The standard of the hotel was not up to the standard of a 3 star in Europe and was old and poorly maintained. The swimming pool looked like it was never cleaned. We complained to the owner on our last day and he took some notes and we were given a 20 % for our last night. It was an expensive place to stay in considering the trouble we had and the standard of the hotel. It looked like we were given a room that was not used very often and that the hotel had problems with this particular room. Yet they were not full and could have given us a better room instead of giving us the worst room in the hotel. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone and it would put me off staying in a Best Western Hotel anywhere else.
Review 84:very little, the negatives completely outweigh any positives
Review 85:We were woken up in the middle of the night by a large group of very noisy guests arriving - noise went on for about 30 mins - shouting and slamming doors. Not sure it was the hotel's fault but maybe some thought as to how to keep big parties arriving in the early hours away from other guests' rooms?
Review 86:Breakfast; helpful reception staff
Review 87:Our room and the hallway outside was in need of a vacuum cleaner there was a cigarette butt in the hallway outside our door for the entire stay and I dont think the towels were clean.
Review 88:I had a meeting in Madaba, I found this amazing hotel on Booking.com and saw that they have a meeting room. I was very glad to have my meeting over there, the meeting room was big enough, the staff was friendly and helpful, later on at night we had dinner at this hotel and the dinner was amazing, you have a lot of variants, special salads and appetizers were offered during the meeting, which was very kind of the hotel. I had to spend my night at Best Western Grand Madaba Hotel, all I can say is that I felt very comfortable and like at home.
Review 89:The hotel has a great Wi-Fi, the staff is amazing, the owner of this hotel made me feel at home. I ran out of coffee in the room, the hotel gave me a lot of complimentary coffee and tea bags, it was very kind of them. The bed is very comfortable and the room size as well. I was happy to find an excellent safe box in my room, where I was able to put all my valuable things. The breakfast next morning was very delicious, I enjoyed it so much! Thank you my dear hotel.
Review 90:The street is kind of depressing and dirty but it was quiet compared toother streets in Madaba.
Review 91:Nice room. Staff was very helpful and professional. Great breakfast.Rooms were clean and spacious.
Review 92:everything was perfect in this fine hotel (staff, room, breakfast), after our visit to Jerusalem the perfect stay our for next-day-visits to the st George Church (oldest mosaic map) in Madaba, Nebo, Baptism site and Dead Sea before driving to Petra
Review 93:Ask for a room with pool view, balcony is too small and too close to the street on the other side of the hotel.
Review 94:Good hotel, walkable distance from all sites in Madaba, swimming pool, friendly receptionist/manager. A very pleasant stay.
Review 95:Very difficult to find, location map is useless. Had to move rooms due to air conditioning problems but new room had similar problem. Breakfast quite basic and sadly lacking in quality.
Review 96:Helpful staff. Nice pool.
Review 97:The lack of choice interms of food availability possibly due to it being Ramadan. Breakfast was not worth paying for, stale bread no pastries etc. Bed was very hard causing back ache after two nights.
Review 98:the staff very friendly and accomodating.
Review 99:The AC in our room didn't work and when someone came to look at it they told us it was a big room and would take time to cool down. It never cooled down. The AC didn't work.
Review 100:The staff was friendly and helpful.
Review 101:The staff really went above to help and assist us. We did arrive while they were in the middle of a power outage, but that did nothing to lower the opinion of the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to others.
Review 102:We were very pleasant surprised by the very friendly staff, especiallyMr Asaad Mustafa (the best associate we have met in jordanie!!) we haveenjoyed the nice pool, the rooms and the breakfast. But mostly the staffmade our stay perfect.
Review 103:The beds in our room were comprised of 2 box springs and not a mattress, I am guessing that other rooms had 2 mattresses assuming they were purchased as sets for this hotel. Does need to get straightened out
Review 104:Beautiful facility and terrific staff, food was GREAT and we were very happy with all of the staff and accommodations
Review 105:Lack of consistency in room keeping (sometimes no shampoo reintegrated, sometimes no coffee or tea). Bathtub was badly installed (wrong side inclination) so after a shower water was pouring our of the two sides. Had to put towels to block it.
Review 106:Breakfast was good, room was comfortable and clean. Staff was kind and helpful.
Review 107:The hotel's 3 day cancellation policy is too much and an inconvenience.
Review 108:The hotel is brand new and very sleek. There is free wi-fi in the rooms, which is great.
Review 109:all the taxes should be included in the price. also, the hotel's cancellation policy of 3 days forced us to alter plans slightly because of this inflexibility.
Review 110:Easy to find, great staff, wonderful owner/manager who helped me with minor problem. Brand new hotel, very clean.
Review 111:Breakfast was awful and we had to ask for fruits to be served. Scrambled eggs were rotten on one day. Internet wifi was poor and I had to come to the lobby for access. No water was available on the last day of our hols and we were told that only teh first day was complimentary and we were served water for 6 days with no issues!
Review 112:Ahla and Samer were helpful. Cleaning of the room was done well.
Review 113:Lacks the character of the locally owned and run smaller hotels nearby.
Review 114:The staff are helpful and attentive. Nice pool and surrounding area. Very clean.
Review 115:They upgrade my room to superior room, the staff and the management were very helpful, they even arranged my transportation which I found very useful with a good driver and reasonable prices. the breakfast was up to standards with some arabic food
Review 116:It was hard to find.
Review 117:Staff were really nice. The place was clean and well kept. Room was comfortable, but the bed was a bit on the hard side. Enjoyed our stay.
Review 118:I loved the hotel itself a lot! Very new and modern, lovely tours, lovely staff. The room is very comfortable and fully furnished. I had a great time at this hotel, thank you for giving me this chance to really enjoy a stay in a hotel. I would definitely recommend it to everyone!
Review 119:Very very hard beds. The hotel has only been open for a few months, and there are still lots of things that need sorting. No one had done a proper clean after the builders had left - there were paint spots on the bathroom floor, dark varnish stains around the door frames and blobs of cement near the beds. There was even an off-cut of tile left under the sink. The floor tiles needed a really good polish. In the bathroom, the washbasin tap was very wobbly, and the plug mechanism did not work whilst the shower had a strange drain with a central spike which hurt if trod on. Breakfast was very basic.
Review 120:Good shower and nice new bedding, especially the sensible thickness duvet. Coffee making facilities (once they had repaired the kettle). Quiet A/c. Staff were friendly and helpful. The location was OK - handy to the centre but away from its noise and chaos. The road outside was busy during the evening but went quiet at night. No noisy mosques nearby!
Review 121:Bar in hotel was very expensive! It cost 18jd for 2 glasses of beer. That is the priciest beer we have ever had anyplace!! -Housekeepingneeds a bit of work. Overall very clean however we had a dirty glass, used soap in the shower, dirty refrigerator and no toilet paper betweenour 2 rooms. Also a bit dusty. -Breakfast could use some fruit andyogurt but otherwise the hardboiled eggs, cereals, cheese toast andsalads were good and included in the room price which was nice.
Review 122:The manager and staff were very nice and even met us in town at 10pmwhen we were lost. They also brought in an extra bed for our 3rd child.Hotel was very close to St George church and vistor center. Also offeredfree wifi which was great. The rooms were spacious and had a nice tv aswell as toiletries and a kettle.
Review 123:It is newly refurbished so expect a few teething problems, but they do state this clearly on arrival and welcome feedback.
Review 124:Location very good, close to other Madaba hotels, good restaurant across the street. Nice pool and outdoor area. Spacious room, newly refurbished.
Review 125:Hard bed. Noisy noisy noisy!! Street and hotel noise till early hours ofmorning. Breakfast not ready at 7am.
Review 126:Staff very helpful even before my stay. Organised my brilliant driver -Mr Fawwaz fawwaz_qadoura@yahoo.com meant no stress for my holiday. Safe, fridge and tea and coffee in room. Modern bathroom. Close to 'citycentre'.
Review 127:The hotel was off the beaten path. There was no signs to find it. The king size beds were extremely hard, old furniture, but the bathroom was up to date and lovely.
Review 128:The staff was friendly and helpful with directions to sites. The owners was very kind, personable and accommodating. They upgraded my room. The place was close to Dead Sea, and Mount Nebo.
Review 129:For a new hotel, it feels like it needs refurbished. Location incorrecton map. Got lost. Had to search around for it. Shower head too high andunable to adjust for kid height. Shower drain blocked causing flood.Staff fixed quickly but didnt clean up. Beds hard+. Room not clean.Sticky rings on bedside table and dusty. Bathroom felt unclean as well.No toilet paper. Breakfast supposed to start at 7am but late to start7.20! Not good if you are travelling. Food ok. Overall felt tired anddisorganised.
Review 130:The staff were very friendly and tried to be helpful.
