Reviews for Residence Guidaloca
Review 1:Very cosy bungalov, We stayed there three nights traveling around Zingaro, Erice. Breakfast we had very was delicious - wide variety of items, from scrambled eggs to croissants. Very pleasant hostess and staff.
Review 2:Nothing
Review 3:Walking distance to beach. Friendly amenable staff. Last minute booking. Spacious accommodation. Lots of vegetation giving sense of privacy
Review 4:The wifi didn't work, but who needs wifi when you're in such beautiful surroundings :)
Review 5:A great little haven in an outstanding olive grove. We were so glad to find this place... besides being extremely close to the beach, it's a refreshing alternative to the touristy bnb's in the village of Scopello. The breakfast was absolutely delicious.
Review 6:The accommodation was igloo like and air con so noisy impossible to keep on and cool, so it was like being in a giant pizza oven. Internet didn't work from room.
Review 7:Good breakfast in nice communal area. Friendly staff/ family. Comfy bed.
Review 8:It is a complex that was probably built many years ago and could very well do with a renovation. Our room was too hot, without air conditioning. Bed was old, appliances were old. We had to discoonect the fridge at night because it was very noisy. Too many cats around.
Review 9:Very well located at walking distance from the Scopello beach (you have to walk by the roadside, so not too safe). Owners are really lovely, extremely helpful and generous. This makes up for som of the defects. Quite nice setting. Parking on site, free.
Review 10:- Poor wifi - Extremely small shower - Far away from "city" center (it is better to reach both Scopello and Castellamare del Golfo by car) - Bathroam could be cleaner
Review 11:- Accommodation is simple but offers everything you need for vacation and your own food preparation - Very nice terrace/garden for a breakfast and nice surrounding of the bungalows - Nice staff - Quite close to beach, ca 7 minutes of walking
Review 12:The tax on the breakfast: we only took breakfast on 1 day and we had to pay 8 euro tax on top of the 12 euro (6 euro * 2 persons). It is normal to have ants and other insects in such a surrounding, but the accommodation would benefit from window screens to keep mosquitoes outside.
Review 13:Lovely igloo houses and beautiful garden with smell of rosemary. Close to the beautiful Zingaro natural park and to the authentic village Scopello. Good bed. Option to have breakfast (combination of sweet and salt). Another option is to buy bread and croissants from the baker that passes every morning. Nice owners. Our son (2.5 years) loved to ride on the toy car and some other available toys.
Review 14:Nothing. Perfect stay.
Review 15:We loved everything thing about this property. Everything was catered for from the fresh bread and croissant delivered in the morning right through to the daily washing down for you. Much appreciated when there are kids! The owners are very welcoming and the location next to a very nice beach cannot be faulted. A perfect stay for our family. Thank you!
Review 16:I'm assessing 2-person bungalow: ants in the room!, air conditioning, wifi not working in the room, old-fashioned (nice pictures of rooms on booking are for apartments, not for bungalow so I was little bit dissapointed of the bungalow), small boiler with hot water
Review 17:I'm assessing 2-person bungalow: spacious bungalow, kitchen in the room, free parking, nice garden, clean, late check-in
Review 18:This is a family run residence and they are most helpful. The accommodation is wonderful and is set in a fabulous location. Very clean and very comfortable. Perfect.
Review 19:Shower and sink had no grate over the drain and the soap disappeared.
Review 20:Bed was comfortable, nice surroundings. Quiet and within walking distance to the beach
Review 21:Nothing, cannot fault it.
Review 22:The location was beautiful overlooking the sea from a distance and friendly staff. We stayed in number 10. It was set away from the rest. Beautiful view of the sea and greenary. Quiet location with short walk to a cute pebble beach. I love that it was not a tourist filled place. Got to see how the sicilans really live. Wish we stayed longer. Good price too!
Review 23:Rather simply equipped bungalows, especially self-catering facilities. Overall sufficient but minimalistic.
Review 24:Friendly staff, very good breakfast and nice beaches close by.
Review 25:Cold in April, no air condition, only one small and poor heater. It is located far away from the city, so you need to have your own car.
Review 26:Bungalow with kitchen and bathroom. In front of the house you have table and chairs (under the roof) for your private usage. Very close to Zingaro Reserve. You have private parking in fenced area. Stony beach is about 20 minutes by walk.
Review 27:-
Review 28:If you like to have your own space instead of a tiny hotelroom, this is what you´re looking for. The kitchen provides anything you could ask for to be independent of restaurants. We have only stayed for one night and it was a perfect place to relax at your private terrace under olivetrees. I can´t tell about the breakfast for we had to leave too early. Personnel was very friendly. Thanks!
Review 29:Igloo style of accommodation was more restrictive than we imagined. Our apartment was close to main house and staff we're using it as thoroughfare so lacked some privacy. Wifi very slow and could not use Card to pay.
Review 30:It is easy to find and in nice area. Attractive setting for complex.
Review 31:If you don't have a car the busses to get here are infrequent so make sure to plan your transport ahead of time. The transfer to the airport we requested was quite expensive. We were told that the walk to Scopello was about 1km, but it's 3.6km, and the beaches are also a bit of a walk, although we didn't mind but it's worth bearing in mind.
Review 32:A really lovely place to stay with very friendly owners and a good breakfast in a lovely setting. We booked through eBooking and found that it was good value for money. We felt quite secluded as our little bungalow and veranda were surrounded in olive trees etc. The facilities are good and the area is beautiful, especially if you like walking and swimming. There's a grocery store a bit of a walk away with a good selection of fresh produce so we cooked each night and ate on our veranda which was really nice.
Review 33:plates and cups too small as we required internet it was hardly available and poor when we pointed out about not having good internet with the older lady she told us the problem is from our laptops not from them . we had three brand new lap tops and surely it was never from our side.
Review 34:very large kitchen living combined room enough to party, bed rooms are nice and very comfortable beds and very clean and a safe private car park
Review 35:I ordered a bungalow but it was an appartment for 2 person (i can understand this point) But the appartment we had was close to the laundry so during the day we had the go and back of maids (very polite though) and the noise of the laundry and discussion of staff wasn't helping to rest. Moreover our terrasse looked to be a way to reach the laundry and an other point of the residence, so we were often bothered by people passing through. The appartment was very dark and the confort wasn't what we expected from a 8.2 rating on booking. We visited 3* hostels which were far better than this one.
Review 36:Maid and Staff are really nice.
Review 37:Comfortable accommodation, very clean, large kitchen with a living room. The landlady Emanuela was friendly and speaks English. Every day you can buy fresh bread from the baker in the residence.
Review 38:Nothing at all.
Review 39:Lovely location amongst olive trees and flowers. Clean and comfortable houses, and the owners and staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely return for another stay.
Review 40:The photos on booking.com were a bit misleading as they are not of the actual Igloo (for 4 people). It got a bit stuffy as the Igloo is too small for 4 people. WIFI connection was very poor and limited.
Review 41:The view is exceptional, and in a really good location. Really enjoyed our time in the BBQ area as it includes all the necessary accessories. Nice and relaxing atmosphere.
Review 42:The location shown on the booking.com map was very misleading since it showed the place as being right by the sea when it was actually quite a long way inland, close to Villa Anna, which you could only discover if you enlarged the map considerably. Kitchen equipment was very basic.
Review 43:It was peaceful, with a good atmosphere.
Review 44:Excellent apartment equipped with everything you might need. Couple of nice beaches - some better for swimming, some for snorkeling. As the beach is 500-700m we had to use a car to go to the beach as we had a senior person travelling with us. Very good market some 1,5 km away.
Review 45:The AC system
Review 46:The bus stop to many beautiful beaches in right in front of the main gate. The bedrooms are cleaned everyday, towels changed every other day and even your laundry is washed 4 u - magic! If asked, the owners will prepare a very good Sicilian salad!
Review 47:Nice park with nice bungalows. The owners were very friendly. The small beaches of Scopello were als in the near.
Review 48:Smell evident from gas leakage .
Review 49:Comfortable large accommodation
Review 50:no wi fi during our stay, too short beds
Review 51:quiet place
Review 52:Many cats on the outside (but sweet), Wifi connection worked only outside
Review 53:Very nice & helpful staff, nice outside area
Review 54:No basic condiments offered (eg salt/pepper)
Review 55:Great bungalows set among old olive grove
Review 56:Horrible shower.
Review 57:Good breakfast! Nice bungalow with excellent bed.
Review 58:Awesome staff, Maria was a sweetheart and the hotel was great!!
Review 59:The place was excellent and the beaches nearby deserved the visit. Excellent beaches at walking distance
Review 60:Big comfortable very clean apartments; perfect breakfast; very friendly staff
Review 61:Small and not ergonomic shower
Review 62:Perfect sicilian breakfast, nice location in the olive garden, nice terrace.
Review 63:Size of the unit. Poor internet. No airconditioning.
Review 64:Location, cleanliness, quiet.
Review 65:Missed sign near beach, so some difficulty in finding property
Review 66:Superb breakfast served on terrace with views of mountains.
Review 67:Didn't spot sign post near beach so difficulty finding.
Review 68:Very comfortable bed. Superb breakfast on terrace with views of mountains.
Review 69:Breakfast, beautiful garden
Review 70:Modern and clean apartment, great view
Review 71:Charming place, beautiful view, good breakfast. However, the shower was out of hot water after 3 minutes on a chilly morning... A bit disappointing.
Review 72:mosquitos
Review 73:private bungalow close to scopello and the zingaro reserve - but you need a car! guidaloca beach in walking distance.
Review 74:really nice place - also perfect for a longer stay!
Review 75:There was written sea view......if you look very well through the bushes you could see some blue. Bugs everywhere, felt like a dirty place
Review 76:-our bungalow was in shadow all the time (what is good when its warm but not in the morning) -it is a bit more distant to sea than the map suggested
Review 77:-privacy (with own patio) -kind staff -bungalow concept ("igloo") -full equipment
Review 78:Sitting out at night watching the moon and listening to the birds enjoying delicious Sicilian cooking, wine and hospitality. We couldn't have stayed at a more perfect place
Review 79:Bathroom could do with a deeper clean as a bit of a background odour.
Review 80:Love the location and layout of the dome shaped apartments and environs. Breakfast in a lovely location.
Review 81:It was a little hard to find and the bed was a little hard.
Review 82:The grounds were well maintained and very quiet! Perfect location near Scopello and a great market. Wifi great and room large.
Review 83:Iglu shaped rooms are a bit akward, but not a big problem...Can't get much light in the rooms. Not enough toilet paper. Real drawback : if you're not coming in summer (our case), can't get much hot water in the shower. Enough for one, but not two showers in a row.
Review 84:Very peaceful, perfect for a rest. Great location and cost/benefit.
Review 85:WiFi was not so good in the lowest bungalow. I had to go outside and up a little bit to have connection.
Review 86:Small space, but very smart designed, with lots of places to store your stuff , haidryer an stiring iron included.
Review 87:The bungalows are situated very closely one to another (it was not an issue in April however it is difficult to imagine how it is during the summer). We didn't like the breakfast because it is not a buffet and there is no menu so you have to ask for everything.
Review 88:Good starting point to visit Zingaro national park. The house we lived was spacious enough to host family of 5 people. No problems with hot water as we had in other places in Sicily. Very nice small supermarket lokated in Scopello can provide you with nice selection of meat, cheeses, fruit and vegetables.
Review 89:Do not be misled by the map on Booking.com this property is half a mile from the small beach.
Review 90:Interesting pod design and helpful staff.Very peaceful setting.
Review 91:In very beautifull garden, near by Erice, Trapani, San Vito lo Capo, Palermo and ather interesting places. The apartment with 2 bedrooms very comfortable.
Review 92:The location is very nice, close to the sea,the appartments are big and clean with nice bedrooms.Living area is also very spacious with well equiped kitchen. The terrace is wonderful.
Review 93:poor and limited kitchen equipment shower was a desaster; 2 minutes hot and than ice cold, staff could not fix it.
Review 94:close to Zingaro Nationalpark quiet
Review 95:the bed in the bungalow no 10 - mattress needs replacing, wifi signal was rather poor,
Review 96:definitely value for money if you plan active days and stay out of the concrete igloo, nice, mostly clean, warm inside thanks to elec heater, a bit short on hot water supply (small capacity tank).
Review 97:The worlds smallest shower
Review 98:Pretty location a bit off the beaten track. Wonderful breakfast served by friendly staff. Quiet little iglo with an interesting view of a farm below and a lovely patio. Parking was easy, easy to get around to sight see
Review 99:Cosy residence with exceptionally pleasant and very helpful Owners. Delicious sicilian cuisine. Lovely & quiet place. Beautiful sea & beach. Fine weather. Everything perfect. Worth recommendation !
Review 100:no swimming pool, and it was impossible to swim in the see after raining as all the dirt from streets and hills was running into the see, very dirty water, so for days like this we really missed to have a swim in the pool. 6 euro per person for breakfast...a bit pricy . bear in mind you'll have one egg, a glass of juice, 1 or max 2 slice of bread and butter or jam for it, and one fruit. so if you are a family of 3 0r 4 than shop at the nearest supermarket and for about 20 euro you'll get much more for breakfast which will last you for couple of days.
Review 101:we liked the welcome of the owners, a bit noisy as our windows faced the road, and there was a dog barking at midnight, apart from this the accommodation itself was OK, everything you need for a self catering holiday. beautiful and peaceful beach at the natural reservation only 3 euro per person but worth the walk, take water and food with you as there are not any shops or cafe, and enjoy the day. shoes for beach with stones throughout all Sicily are strongly advised
Review 102:The locatin was nice and the house was funny. We had a very nice place outside. The location was very good for visiting the area. The staff was very helpful.
Review 103:The bungalows are not that close to the village of Scopello, so its good to have a car to get there and back.
Review 104:Guidaloca was a great place to stay and it is close to a lovely beach. The design of the lodges with a large amount of igloos was pretty cool.
Review 105:The residence is located about 700 meters from the beach which ensures peace and tranquility. Accommodation is mostly in objects like an Eskimo igloo, which have a living part with kitchen, sleeping area and bathroom. Everything is simply yet functional furnished. Each object has a shaded terrace where you can comfortably sit. Every morning a baker arrives in residence with fresh bread. The staff is friendly and very helpful.
Review 106:we liked how quiet it was, that you could walk to a beach, that it was centrally located to multiple places, that our kids could play safely, that it was pretty and we were not bothered by management.
Review 107:Hot water in the shower only for two people in a row, then we have towait 15 minutes and so on.
Review 108:Really liked the rest. Unusual and attractive accommodation . Friendlyowners who are ready to help make your stay unforgettable. Excellentratio of price - quality
Review 109:Fantastic location. We had an appartment, nice and spacious, - with view to the sea. Great beach! NaturePark "Lo Zingaro" close to (need car). Amazing walks and beaches. Loved it, and would like to go back!!
Review 110:The iron supplied gave an electric shock. We found the cable was frayed and the live wire was visible and had given a shock. Replacement iron also had a damaged cable - we didn't use it!
Review 111:The accommodation was very nice, peaceful and well situated. Nice beach nearby, pebbly, with a little slope going into the water, which may be difficult for some people. But water is lovely and clear. Staff are very nice and friendly.
Review 112:The hot water tank barely had enough water for one shower so we had be strategic with our washing! We were a group of 5 and luckily we hired 2 bungalows for 4 and 2 respectively so one of my sons shared with my mum as the 4 person bungalow would have been a bit of a squeeze if you pulled out the 4th bed.
Review 113:We loved our stay at Residence Guidaloca. The little white 'babapapa' style bungalows were thoughtfully set out to give each bungalow its own semi-private outdoor seating area set amongst the olive groves. The whole place felt really relaxed and safe. Our boys loved making use of the ping pong table. We took up the optional breakfast on our first morning and it was so good we decided to carry on. Really friendly family run place. Sad to move on after a 3 day stay. Great location near Zingaro nature reserve - lovely coastal walks. Segesta & Erice within easy reach and well worth visiting.
Review 114:From the pictures it looked much more open , spacious and pretty. We had requested a bungalow with a view, which we did get, but the bungalow which is like a little igloo with practically no windows, was tucked down the side of a hill and completely enclosed by tall trees, making it very dark and for me, depressing. I couldn't bear to stay at the site during the day. If one thought of it as camping then in those terms it was comfortable. Otherwise it was very basic with only enough hot water at any one time for one short shower. You then had to wait for the water to heat up, which it did do but it took a while as it was electric. It was further from Scopello than I had understood, so you had to drive everywhere. although I believe there was a beach in walking distance..
Review 115:I didn't like it. It wasn't as I had expected from the pictures, although the staff were nice enough and we had a heater in the bungalow which was an absolute blessing as it was unusually cold. It was however listed as a four person bungalow. There were only three of us and I have no idea how a fourth person would have fitted in.
Review 116:Owner were nice, friendly and helpful. The place was really beautiful, with palm and olive-trees and plenty of pot flowers. Good start point to car trios to interesting places. Car parking inside the residence. Quiet place.
Review 117:The beach is just down the road, but walking down is not recommended asyou have to take the rather busy main road which does not have afootpath. Not a big problem, but you will need a car. Also, the gpscoordinates provided appear to point to the campsite at the beach, wichis not were Guidaloca is located (it's a bit further up the hill).
Review 118:Nice little bungalow in a quiet location. We would stay here again.
Review 119:We have staying in bungalow. They are completely equipped and stylish.Every second day there is a change of linen. Small patio in front ofbungalow is surrounded by olive trees. Each breakfast and dinner werefestive; grilling area helps us to create something unusal to it. Thehosts are very friendly and willing to help, but the help is not neededsince everything is wonderful! We spent each day in Zingaro Reservewhich is only in 6 km far from Guidaloca. It is impossible to describeZingaro; Gooogle to help you. In 2 km from Guidaloca (towards toZingaro) there is a supermarket with all necessary goods and market withlocal vegetables, fruits and fresh sea food. It is wonderful holiday -all day long you are in silent place and under fresh air. Nice detail:each morning little bird woke us by knocking at the window with itsbeak. It said: "Enough sleep, will be a good day!"
Review 120:Easygoing and friendly personnel; cozy bungalow for a couple; nice countryside; 10-15 min drive to Castellamare del Golfo; 5 min drive to the National Reserve Zingaro; unbelievably beautiful sea shores.
Review 121:Not enough toilete paper :)
Review 122:Wonderful location in one of the nicest parts of Sicily. Confortable bungallows! Would recomend it for all who wants to descover Scopello and Zingaro natural park. Also good for night visits of Castellammare del Golfo.. Rent-a-car is a must!!!!
Review 123:Old & pretty cheap equipment, would need definitely some freshening up (looks like the houses were built 25 years ago and nothing has changed since...). Everything is minimal : house is for 4 persons, so there are strictly 4 knives, 4 spoons, 4 forks and 4 plates... Doesn't appear on pictures : the houses are packed next to each others (2m between each house).
Review 124:Funny round little houses. Outside terrace Kind and helpful staff Quiet environment
Review 125:The water heater was too small to give enough hot water for a long shower. The shower cubicle was very small.
Review 126:The igloo apartments are original and well-equipped and set in lovely grounds with lots of trees and bushes. The owners are available on site and very friendly and welcoming. Very quiet and well situated for Scopello and the Zingaro nature reserve.
The Fine Print
Please note bed linens are changed weekly. Towels are changed every other day. The accommodations are cleaned at the end of the stay.Daily turn-down and linens change are available upon request, for an extra fee.
