Reviews for Stanley Village
Review 1:Having to leave.
Review 2:Exceptional cleanliness Excellent attention to details Fabulous food at restaurant Friendly , attentive service Bonus Little (Fairy)Penguins outside at night !
Review 3:First impressions count and the room is beautifully appointed with the added gifts of chocolates, specialty tea right down to ear plugs just in case the Penguins get too loud. The owner was quick to deal with a noisy room and certainly looked after us. The breakfast is good both price and quality. Close to town with great views that overlook the water or the Nut which is behind.
Review 4:We couldn't fault anything.
Review 5:We had a lovely 2 night stay at the Stanley Village in mid October 2015. We had a good sized twin room with beaut sea views on one side and awesome views looking directly up The Nut from the other. The room was clean and tidy, well presented, and chocolates were left on our beds the first night. Should you wish, it is an easy walk into town seeing many houses on the 'historic walk' along the way. The staff were delightful and we had many laughs together. Unfortunately the Hursey's seafood outlet across the road was closed for renovations but would be open now and would be sporting a new restaurant. We ate at the hotel’s restaurant, Stanley’s on the Bay, which is built of stone and was originally a (storehouse for VDL?). This was the second best meal of our 3 week trip – really very good quality and with wine by the glass enabling us to taste various types and vineyards. Restaurant bookings are recommended. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to others. We wished we had booked in for 3 nights as there is so much to see and do in the local area.
Review 6:People professional, welcoming, cheerful, helpful, and accommodating. Yummy dinner, excellent service, and atmosphere superb. Lovely "room with a view." This was definitely the highlight of our two-week tour of Tasmania.
Review 7:The only thing we would complain about is the fact that our stay was not long enough.
Review 8:Our experience was top class from arrival to departure, our rooms were upgraded and had that wow affect, the view was amazing, our host was exactly what you would wish for. Any-one who is lucky enough to visit this beautiful region in Tasmania, do yourself a favour and book your accommodation here, its beautiful....
Review 9:Bed not comfortable at all. No floor mats to wipe shoes at any entrance, restaurant was closed, lounge chair to small not comfortable.
Review 10:Clean and tidy modern feel, location and views very nice.
Review 11:The standard of accommodation was impeccable and sparkling clean. The location superb overlooking the beach. Linen, appliances, furnishings were all of a high standard. The owners/managers were welcoming, friendly, caring and could not do enough to make one's visit a complete joy.
Review 12:The Penguins outside the room were great, the food in the restaurant was lovely, the views from the room were superb but above all the staff were terrific.
Review 13:The view was sensational both back and front of the room, sea out the back and the Nut out the front. There was. A laundry available for a small cost so that we could catch up on such domestics and a clothes line where they could dry in the sun and the wind.
Review 14:The bed was not comfortable, mattresses were hard and a bit worn out, pillows poor quality and the quilts weighed a ton!
Review 15:Great location and friendly staff. Nice old fashion touches like chocolates on the pillows. Overall a very pleasant stay.
Review 16:could not open door but attendant fixed with WD40. Aircon controller had flat batteries
Review 17:comfortable and very large bed. Very spacious room with spa bath.. Very quiet location
Review 18:We arrived a little early but a great effort was made to quickly ready our room. Very comfortable accommodation with very good en-suite facilities. Restaurant dinner was excellent served by an attentive host..
Review 19:The view was wonderful, the service was friendly and welcoming and the room had every thoughtful inclusion that could make your stay very special. The meal at the restaurant was one of the best that we have had anywhere.
Review 20:Wifi was hit and miss and timed out long before out time was up. We did not raise this with reception so did not give them opportunity to fix it. Was too pretty a place to spend time on Internet anyway.
Review 21:We stayed in Retreat cottage which was absolute ocean front, completely self contained and private. Bed was so comfortable with crisp clean linen. Bathroom was full size with a spa bath, what a treat. Kitchen was good, only suggestion is that the one hot plate bench toaster oven was a bit limiting for cooking a meal but everything else was great. Location is just amazing, we had Little Penguins walking around in our front yard whilst we sat and watched them. Beautiful place and memorable stay.
Review 22:Bedrooms were a little dated. One room had a bit of an odour and the other had a leaking toilet.
Review 23:Great location with a very good restaurant on the same site.
Review 24:weren't advised about the login details for accessing wifi and when we went to login reception was closed and we were unable to get the password etc. few rattles around the place with the wind made it a little noisy at times
Review 25:Big thick towels, nice toiletries and coffee supplied, views of the ocean,
Review 26:the room was very welcoming. all the little added touches really do make a difference(chocolates, robes). a very cosy room with the added benefit of seeing the penguins outside the window on the night we stayed
Review 27:Having to leave!
Review 28:Love the view and peaceful location,we liked being able to park the car and walk everywhere, the little penguins were a treat.Breakfast was fresh and plenty of it.Nice hot shower with good water pressure. The Mor toiletries are a nice touch.Friendly smiling staff
Review 29:The only thing that let it down for me was the shower in the bath, sorry but I don't understand this as it is not a family room BUT the power of the water was excellent
Review 30:Excellent place we will definitely be back, everything, the position, room, breakfast, bed, staff weather :-)
Review 31:Some maintenance needed, a few things didn't work properly. Don't let that put you off. Hard to find veggie food locally, not many options but some places closed while we were there.
Review 32:The view of the sea and the Nut from the room is delightful. Very comfy bed.Good facilities with a little kitchenette. No cooking of course but fridge, sink, crockery which is rare in hotels.
Review 33:Leaving
Review 34:Just about everything particularly the room comfort and the outlook over the water, the friendly people and the adaptive reuse of an old railway station in the complex. Tasty breakfasts too.
Review 35:This place ticks all the boxes, large rooms with the best view in Stanley, comfy bed, very quiet, very helpful staff and lots of little extras - loved our stay highly recommend!
Review 36:It is a up stairs down stairs place which is ok , but the older folk would have a problem, as the stairs are steep and they are outside so if the weather is raining you will get wet getting to the room.
Review 37:the room was spacious neat and clean, the little touch with the chocolates on your pillow is nice, I liked the small kitchenette idea. It was quiet no road traffic. Breakfast was nice and the people were friendly, will recommend it to others
Review 38:The owners and staff are excellent, could not fault the service in any way
Review 39:No restaurant service because of Xmas break

Review 65:The bed was too soft for us personally.
Review 66:We stayed in The Retreat which was lovely, with great facilities.
Review 67:no window which can be opened Windows exposed to a public walking area- no privacy
Review 68:location Breakfast
Review 69:Friendly staff, beautiful views, clean modern room, bed was really comfortable.
Review 70:Could not be faulted, great restaurant on site. Helpfull with travel advice. Lots to see & do close by. Could have stayed longer
Review 71:the comfort of the bed
Review 72:One night wasn't enough.
Review 73:We were so surprised at the quality of the room for the price. We have stayed at a lot of places and Stanley Village is up there with the best.
Review 74:Staff were not particularly helpful or accommodating when our plans changed. Whilst sticking to the letter of stated conditions is their legal right, a small quantity of flexibility or even genuine apology for having to apply restrictive terms would go a long way. Instead it leaves a poor impression and we will seek accommodation elsewhere in Stanley from now on.
Review 75:Good location and well appointed room
Review 76:Location, looking out your window the water's edge was onle meters away, the room was clean and tidy the staff friendly and helpful and the resturant was beautiful, great place to stay.
Review 77:Best Compliment we can make is we would stay there again - it was excellent accommodation and food and We would refer our family and friends Stanley is a great place Duncan & Yvonne Christie Brisbane
Review 78:Can't say there was anything I didn't like.
Review 79:The Location was superb and the accommodation was brilliant. The standard of the facilities was wonderful. Would definitely stay again. Seeing penguins in the back yard was an added bonus
Review 80:Very costly for the size of the room. No room service when required eg.breakfast not available till after 7.30am. when I am on business I am gone by this time
Review 81:location
Review 82:The heating was barely adequate and at times some cooling would probably be needed. The exterior door rattled all night but admittedly it was an extremely windy night.
Review 83:The setting was gorgeous. Overall the room was comfortable, very clean and spacious enough.
Review 84:No problems.
Review 85:Pleasant location, comfortable room with extra nice treats. Restaurant not open on our first night but had an excellent meal there on the second night. We really enjoyed our stay regardless of the wet weather.
Review 86:very few amenities in room. Not able to even make a sandwich let alone breakfast. The most expensive of 7 nights in Tasmania and the least facilities. Poor value for money.
Review 87:steps up to unit door very hard to lock and unlock.
Review 88:really comfy bed and pillows. spa...great. breakfast...adequate chocolates on arrival..,.,great touch.
Review 89:Nothing, apart from the cold blowy weather at the time of our stay!
Review 90:Warm, friendly, informative hosts. Really went the extra mile to make our stay a great one. Great room, with a lovely view. Comfy bed, lots of treats in the room, chocolates, nice coffee etc. Very well equipped. EXCELLENT food and wine at the onsite restaurant. Great breakfast too. Nice beach around the corner, great place to visit. Highly recommend.
Review 91:Not a lot of choice for meals in village area. Restaurant was closed at Stanley Village. We had a ground floor villa due to my elderly mothers needs. You can hear guests upstairs, showering, talking and TV. not condusive to the peaceful area of Stanley.
Review 92:I liked that the whole village was accessible by foot.
Review 93:It was a shame that the restaurant was closed. Having to call some-one from outside the venue to open the laundry was a minor inconvenience.
Review 94:The view from the room was amazing and the spa bath was really nice.
Review 95:We were not advised until the morning after we booked in that penguins come up at night in front of complex. If we knew we could have gone outside and viewed them. Disappointing staff were not more informative.
Review 96:Location and room interior.
Review 97:Not a thing. It was fabulous.
Review 98:Everything. Great room, view, great walks around the town and to The Nut from here. The owners are great. Book into the restaurant when you book a room. You mustn't miss a meal there.
Review 99:It was all wonderful!
Review 100:we love Stanley for its quaint village, beautiful water views and proximity to other attractions. The attention to detail, close proximity to the superb restaurant, coupled with the very efficient and friendly staff made our stay a memorable one.
Review 101:We stayed in the self catering one bedroom cottage. The bathroom was adequate but very dated.
Review 102:Good location, comfortable accommodation. Very good restaurant with amazing food and friendly service.
Review 103:Interior lighting system is better to be brighter in particular in the kitchen area. if lighting intensity is adjustable that will be perfect.
Review 104:I stay in the cottage for a nite and really love the frontdoor seaview and the sound of wave.
Review 105:Location was excellent, great bathroom and facilities.
