Reviews for Dai-ichi Takimotokan

Review 1:The hotspring area was excellent. Totally awesome with great view especially the outdoor spa. Too bad it didn't snow that period we went if not it will be perfect.

Review 2:Bathroom typical size in Japanese standard but very small if you want to take a bath inside...

Review 3:Daichi Takimotokan is very historical - right at the forefront of the Noboribetsu onsen, as can be seen from its location as well. Location: right next to the valley where onsen comes out (good for sightseeing, hiking, and hotel gate right facing shopping street). About 10 minutes walk from the bus station. Room: we stay in south wing Japanese tatami room, comfortable and clean, big enough for 2-4 people, decoration kinda old, but toilet is super small though - for shower it's just better to do it at the public bath. Onsen: perfect, very big and spacious, various types of onsen, water is really hot, has outdoor pools too. Really relaxing after a cold day. Even though the hotel is huge, the bath is not crowded at all when we go around 4pm or 8pm. Food: we had in room Japanese dinner, the service is great. There are various price of sets, ours is more like standard so food is good for the price we pay. The breakfast buffet is great, nice restaurant environment with plentiful western and japanese breakfast items. Service: overall very friendly staff, heartfelt service, something you typically can't expect from such a big hotel. Highly recommend

Review 4:The living room was a wonderful atmosphere for me to spend leisure time in this area but it was closed all the time of my stay because of the strongly smell of cigarette even there was an air cleaning machine.

Review 5:The setting is proper for long staying. The room size is big enough for 3 persons. The meal are reasonable. Onsen is wonderful.

Review 6:The dinner buffet (included in room rate) was below expectations and a disappointment. There was a limited variety of foods. Soft drinks were not included as well.

Review 7:The location, the property, the staffs, the onsen pools

Review 8:Service was really good, the room I got was really big and had its own shower and bathroom. There were many onsens offered and I really enjoyed the outdoor ones.

Review 9:This was our 2nd time staying in this hotel and staff seems unable to cope with too many guests. Service in buffet restaurant wasn't as good as before and dishes weren't refilled after emptied. There are no nonsmoking rooms in this hotel. This time we could smell strong smoke in our room.

Review 10:This hotel onsen is very big and food is good. Good location, next to the hiking trails of Noboribetsu onsen and shops and restaurants down the road.

Review 11:The in room meal wad not good. Food was not hot enough and the taste was not yummy. Would be better if customers can choose menu. No wifi in guest room. Not that convenient.

Review 12:Hotel staff are very helpful and with good English. The hotel shuttle is convenient.

Review 13:Too short a stay. Not much snow when we stayed there.

Review 14:Nice room and good food. 7 onsen baths are enjoyable and relaxing. Short waking to Jigokdani (I am not sure of the spelling^^). Shuttle bus service to/from Sapporo Bus Terminal (adjacent to JR Sapporo station south gate) with some charge (500yen for one way per person - needs prior reservation). Well organized staff.

Review 15:I book a room in a very high price. End up I got a room at Secount floor with is windows open facing a wall ( concrete wall) Is bad bad bad. Pay the price about 300USD with the room with this view. NONONO. That's many other hotel over the town and the price is must cheaper and I'm sure you get a good room. Some more staff tell us dinner buffer 7:00 by time we reach at 6:45pm is alreday full if guests and I think there alreday start at 6pm. Why the staff have to say at 7.(bad) Please go other hotel when you visit this town.

Review 16:No wifi in the room

Review 17:Great service and onsen! The dinner is superb!!!snow crab is really tasty! Shuttle bus from sapporo station at only 500yen. The jr bus to Noboribetsu station is just in front of the accommodation. Very convenient!

Review 18:Dinner buffet was terrible. Food was not fresh especially the sashimi. One of our travelling party had food poisoning after eating the raw prawns. Dining time for big tour groups can be staggered. Dining hall was messy, crowded and noisy and made eating very uncomfortable. Petty front desk wouldn't give a 30 min extension for a slightly later check out as one of our member was ill. They asked to charge by the hour. 1000 yen per person per hour. Main building has no lift to the 2nd level. The poor staff (young helpless girls) had to lug our luggages. Poor things.

Review 19:Japanese hospitality was great. Location was fantastic. Onsens were great.

Review 20:The staff were not very warm. Carpet & room a bit tired looking & smelled of cigarettes and the towels were bright pink! Staff English was not very good.

Review 21:Great location, the hot springs within the hotel, hell valley next to hotel & public bus stop in front of hotel & shops just down the road.

Review 22:Nothing

Review 23:Staff were amazing, hot spring is amazing, food is amazing, everything is amazing. There are several cute shops beside the hotel, and great view from the window, great view from the hot spring.

Review 24:Nothing much

Review 25:Awesome room and superb half-board in-room dinner (except that desert and green tea should be served after, not together). The breakfast buffet was splendid. Best breakfast I've ever had in my entire life. The public bath onsen was really great too! Place is near the hell's valley too

Review 26:After check-in you need to wait for hotel staff to take you to the room, in my case I have waited for quite sometime many people that check-in after me have already been guided to their room. After asking staff for two times, they finally send a staff to gave us the keys and guided us to the room.

Review 27:Variety of onsen

Review 28:Friendly staffs, a nice big onsen with several different baths, nice meal. The entire facility was not new but neatly maintained. This hotel is very close to Jikokudani.

Review 29:- We were only given packets of shampoo in our room. For the price we paid for and compared to most hotels we have stayed in Japan which usually provide shampoo, conditioners and body shampoos in big bottles, this was quite unexpected.

Review 30:- Strategic location. If you're staying at this hotel and driving by yourself, you can just park at the hotel and walk to Hell Valley - saves your parking fee! - Great onsen! Possibly the biggest I've ever seen so far! - We had chosen the restaurant as our dinner option and buffet for our breakfast. Both were great!

Review 31:The car parking facilities are not very good. The TV does not have English language programmes nor CNN, BBC. Staff speak only little English.

Review 32:The service and staff. The staff is very helpful but would be better if they could speak English more effectively.

Review 33:Buffle Food with not that much traditional Japanese food, insufficient bucket at each onsen side to rinse off the previous left over before immersion (quite surprising for this tradition not available), onsen temperature is not that enough, staff for onsen is insufficient(in consider such large onsen hotel) so lots of rubbish/towels found in showering area, the room floor is not that clean

Review 34:Good location,sincere staff

Review 35:It so near to the attractions. Within walking distance especially the Hell Valley where we could climb up the mountain on both days of our stay. If dinner not in package would be preferred. The first shop from the hotel serves very good fresh cheap seafood.

Review 36:- I choose to stay in main building and it's quite far from onsen. - We order Japanese style breakfast but hotel serve us western style - From JR to hotel you have to take a bus but hotel locate far away from bus station around 500-600m and it's up hill. If you have big luggage it's may not easy to do that

Review 37:+Very close to Jigogudani +Onsen with Hell valley view +Huge onsen(Public bath)

Review 38:The onsen was great, the food was absolutely fantastic, however if you've never had authentic Japanese food before, you might not like it as the food prepared are very traditional and less towards the mainstream methods of Japanese cooking these days. 3 minutes walk away from the main attraction, Jigokudani.

Review 39:Nil

Review 40:Centrally located to shopping and the places of interest such as the "Hell Valley". The hotel has the best onsen facilities I have ever come across. Lovely experience for me and my group members.

Review 41:1. There is no free wifi provided in the guest room. 2. It is better to provide both western-styled beds and Japanese-styled beds in the guest room. So that the guests can choose what they want. 3. No coffee is provided in the guest room.

Review 42:1. There are many spa pools in the hotel. Excellent! 2. The venue is excellent to tourist.

Review 43:Room for 4 persons are using the room for 2 actually. Will not recommend this hotel to anyone. The bathroom is so tiny compared to other japanese style hotels

Review 44:Good Location and huge Public Bath

Review 45:waitress service in restaurant...nobody clean up your dishes after you finished first round of meal...This is not acceptable. (Since it's a buffet style of meal...if nobody clean up the dishes which make you so disappointed)

Review 46:Too crowded during breakfast. In-room dinner is average. No free pick up shuttle bus as other onsen hotels have.

Review 47:Close to Hell Valley. The onsen with Hell Valley view

Review 48:Staff are very professional and friendly, especially the lady who set up our dinner for us. The onsen was clean and huge with many different types of water for different purposes. The food served in our room was very delicious and beautifully made. The buffet breakfast spread was good with a mix of Japanese and continental cuisine. The location is superb, just a stone's throw away from Hell's Valley and near to a small street for shopping and eating. Takes about 20 mins bus ride from the JR station but the bus stops are directly in front of the hotel.

Review 49:The quality of the buffer dinner seems to have dropped since my last visit, though that was almost 10 years ago.

Review 50:The different onsen makes the trip worthwhile.

Review 51:Very good value; hells Valley was a 5 Min walk away. Pools and onsen were fantastic. Buffet was good quality, wide range including both western and Japanese cuisine and delicious. Staff were very polite. We wished we could stay longer.

Review 52:No wifi at room

Review 53:Hot spring is relaxing, decent buffet dinner and breakfast with lots of choices, nice experience to live in Japanese style room with tatami and futon

Review 54:There was no indication when making the booking that those with tattoos can only use the baths after midnight. There is only WiFi available in the lobby. For a well known venue the staff couldn't understand us (English) well and made little attempt to try.

Review 55:The place was very traditional and was a great experience. The banquet had a good selection of vegetables and a mix of western food and Japanese food.

Review 56:nothing in particular

Review 57:The location is great! The hot spring facilities are huge and well equipped! The buffet is another excellent place for us to spend time at while indulging in the variety of food offered.

Review 58:Door frame is too low, hit head tow times...

Review 59:Onsen is excellent with great view of 地狱谷 (from male onsen). 5 mins walking to 地狱谷. 间歇泉 is just front of the hotel. 3 mins walking to 7-11.

Review 60:Onsen not vented well so it was steamy. It was a lilltle difficult to navigate without glasses which tended to fog up. There were many large tour groups.

Review 61:There were a variey of baths in the onsen with outside views. Dinner and breakfast buffets were also very good.

Review 62:Small bathroom in room, but that would be no problem if you use facility in Onsen.

Review 63:-Onsen is so great, outdoor and indoor onsen are perfect. -Delicious Food -Very Close to Hell Valley and Walking street

Review 64:Old hotel with very small and slightly smelly toilet/bathroom, though the onsen offsets the need of the bathroom. Hotel staff were slightly below average only when compared against the typical Japanese hospitality and other Japanese hotel staff. If compared with Singapore's service, its above average. Wifi only at the lobby.

Review 65:The massive 7 types of onsen available and other facilities available.

Review 66:Nothing. Everything about it was amazing

Review 67:Everything! Daiichi had great staff, wonderful facilities, and amazing food. My partner and I stayed in a ryokan style room, took advantage of the yukata they provided, and opted for the more expensive meal. It was so much food that we were full to bursting (we're big guys, too) and the quality was stellar. Their onsen? Top notch. Breakfast buffet was amazing too!

Review 68:No Wi-Fi access in the room but that really doesn't matter to me as I was spending most of the time out and about!

Review 69:- The traditional sleeping place - The onsen experience - The dinner and breakfast buffet

Review 70:The staff were very friendly. Liked the location, meals, and onsen facilities. We felt it was really value for money and would definitely stay there again.

Review 71:Wifi is not available in room.

Review 72:Its my 3rd time staying here and I still will if I ever travel again to noboribetsu. The 24hrs onsen is such a winner if ure travelling on free schedule as u can avoid busy tourcrowds.

Review 73:None

Review 74:I was so impressed in the staff here. I had to catch taxi at 5 AM in the next day. and of course it's too early to get taxi. At first he can't find any taxi for me. But I really need to go that time. Finally, he find some car to pick up and it's not taxi. I don't know maybe it's the staff's car or not. And he take us to the station for free.. But I pay him because I feel so thankful. It's really impressive for me, thank you very much ^___^ - Dinner buffet [ in the package i bought] was delicious. I love big crab and shrimp sashimi - The outdoor onsen was cool ! - Not too far from Noboribetsu Onsen station. You can walk only 5 minutes. - Big room with nice futon.

Review 75:We had on old room at the 2nd floor, there was a sulfuric smell. The property is 150 years old already.

Review 76:Buffet was great, there were lots of choices. The servers were attentive, and were all courteous. I also liked the hot spring and shower area, the hair and skin products are all interesting.

Review 77:Japanese style room for 4 people is too small. It is good for 2 people

Review 78:excellent location, just a few minutes walk to hell valley Excellent onsen. There are seven kinds of onsen ponds to choise, I like out door onsen most. Fascilities in the drssing room are very giud Good buffet, even there were many tourist groups, management were very good

Review 79:lots of tour groups, very noise at night during our stay, staff less attention. If any staff could stop people from shouting at public area at night will be good. 06/02/15 we were staying in level 9 south part, there were couple of drunk girls crying in the hall way till near 2 o'clock. ╰_╯

Review 80:Many kinds of nice big spa. lots of varieties of the buffle food.

Review 81:This was a second stay with my wife after 6 years. Very spacious and well-managed public bath and comfortable room with a good view from the window. Shuttle bus to and from Sapporo JR bus terminal (yen500 per person, one way) was convenient. Buffet dinner was also satisfactory.

Review 82:Rooms and some facilities are showing their age Wi-fi is limited to the lobby

Review 83:Service very good standard, extremely polite Bath facilities also very enjoyable In-room meals very high quality

Review 84:the hotel is a little bid old, but is acceptable. It would be much better if they can offer shuttle bus service. The transportation to Noboribetsu was making us tired

Review 85:a big hotel, with many different facilities, 24 hours public onsen bath. the buffer breakfast and dinner is good. The swimming pool is a great fun for kids. Good for family trip.

Review 86:The musty smell of the room..due to the hotel's effort to deordourise the smoking room we were checked into..but it's bearable

Review 87:1. Hot baths 2. Breakfast n dinner, good spread 3. Tatami mats n futon bed were comfortable 4. The paid pre-arranged shuttle service

Review 88:cant think of any!

Review 89:staffs are extremely courteous and welcoming, you really feel like okyaku-sama. (the same don't applies everywhere in japan, believe me) tatami room is so well maintained, so was the facilities we are pleasantly surprised, and with seven onsen heaven, what could top it? and location is perfect, just a short walk tio shops and restaurants.

Review 90:location is far away from JR station, have to take a 15-min bus, and you have to check the JR timetable, because quite few trains pass by and I end up spending 2 hours waiting in the station for the next train to come. WIFI is also slow, it upsets me

Review 91:variety of onsens, especially the outdoor onsen, really nice in cold weather; the Japanese style room is spacey and sophiscated, half-board meal is also good

Review 92:Description of each pool only in Japanese, would be nice to have some English wordings but typical of Japan. No big deal really

Review 93:Location great, right next to Hell Valley. Excellent onsen, best I have been so far with many different types of pool but not your traditional Japanese version. Onsen had a heated pool and a water slide. Rooms were decent, comfy and clean. Food was quality but quality of food was so so but it's a packaged deal can't do much better. Overall great place to stay

Review 94:the room was a little cold

Review 95:dinner and breakfast were included so didn't have to spend extra money. good location for the famous hell valley and no.66 bus takes you directly to the hotel from the airport.

Review 96:Location,transportation is poor, bus is only one you will miss the plane in Chitose. We must take the taxi of ¥24,000-one way from hotel to Chitose.

Review 97:Onsen

Review 98:Didn't enjoy the buffet dinner and breakfast, too many tour groups. My luggage was not delivered to room despite checking in earlier during the morning.

Review 99:Excellent location for winter with attractions and amenities nearby. The baths are huge and numerous, beautiful. They also provide a shuttle bus to Sapporo.

Review 100:A little run down with not much renovation.

Review 101:In-house onsen comprises a number of pools with varied type of spa,a sauna and steam bath.Real spoilt for choice.

Review 102:The bathroom in the room is extremely small. Please check with Booking.com before if your room is in which wing. My room was in South wing which is the old building and it had bad smell from smoking.

Review 103:The Onsen area is really big and open 24 hrs. The Japanese room style was great.

Review 104:I stay in Non smoking room but smoking room is next 3 room so smell come to my room all day&night. Please separate floor or building.

Review 105:Dinner buffet

Review 106:The many hot spring pools in the hotel, especially the outdoor baths. Location to Hell's Valley and hiking trails.Nothing really.

Review 107:The temperature in the room is a bit warm. I can't open the window or the birds might fly in. No wifi in room makes it a little inconvenient.

Review 108:I enjoy the experience of a Japanese style room and its culture. My very first experience too with the onsen. It was wonderful.

Review 109:the room facilities is under our expectation compare to other facilities in the building no shampoo and shower cream in the room

Review 110:nice hot spring bath many facilities in the building near the bus station

Review 111:Hotel room is relatively old and smell bad, check out time is 10am which is too early. No Wifi service in room but only in lobby.

Review 112:This hotel has a very big hot spring facility with really good quality of hot spring which I have never seen. Hotel staff is very nice, I book a room with both breakfast and Dinner, when they learned I will arrive late, they cancel the dinner for me and lower down the price proactively. And also sent me details of directions before arrival, very good service. Hotel is very closed to Hell Valley

Review 113:The wifi is only available in the lobby, but not inside the room.

Review 114:My children love the slides in the watermark. My parents love the hot spring. The facilities are excellent. The buffet is also nice.

Review 115:N/A

Review 116:-Conveniently located near other sightseeing places such as jigokudani, and Sengen park with natural geyzer. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel, so you don't have to walk up hill with luggage and all. -The breakfast and dinner buffet were great! -The onsen facility was nice. There's indoor onsen with view of jigokudani, and a very refreshing outdoor onsen with a nice garden view. -There's a small automatic puppet show "Momotaro" at hotel lobby.

Review 117:The restaurant we had for buffet dinner and breakfast, food wasn't bad but the ambience was just like a canteen hall

Review 118:Big variety of different hot spring pool, very clean and nice room.

Review 119:The hotel provides buffet breakfast and dinner - the food is pretty much cafeteria style and average for Japanese standard. Would be much nicer if they refine the food a bit.

Review 120:The room is very clean and comfortable; the onsen is large and impressive with lovely views of hell valley and the mountain.

Review 121:When we asked the front desk what is it to see around after we checked in, the staff only did the usual stuff, took out the map of hell valley and told us to follow the route. He did not mention about the fire works at Jigoku-Dani that night, which only happen during certain days in Summer. We saw from the window at the restaurant people walking towards Hell Valley. By the time we knew about it, the event was over. Though they put up a poster near the concierge, we don't understand Japanese and didn't even notice it as we only stayed there for one night.

Review 122:We stayed at main building Japanese style room. Quite impressed when a staff in kimono served us traditional Japanese tea after she brought us to our room. The room rate booked on line is quite a good deal as it was inclusive of kiseki dinner and breakfast (which u can choose from Western or Jap style). The onsen is facing Jigoku-Dani, the Hell Valley. There are many types of onsen pool, in door or outdoor, which is very impressive.

Review 123:It too quick check-out time because breakfast time is 7.00-9.00AM and you need to check-out this hotel at 10.00AM. I think this is big hotel, It should has a shuttle bus from JR Noboribetsu station to this hotel because this is a little bit far from Noboribetsu onsen bus stop. but overall I still comeback for relax at this hotel.

Review 124:I love onsen at this hotel good location for travel Jigoku dani. All staffs have a good service mind. Buffet for dinner and breakfast which is delicious not waste more time to find a restaurant around here.

Review 125:Hotel is too old and has musky smell as you walk around. Onsen should NOT have cleaning and repair work in the day. I was told to leave the outdoor onsen as workmen were coming to repair. This is RIDICULOUS!!! I paid for my stay! The staff disrupted my peaceful soak and I was feeling furious and unhappy!!! What can Booking.com do about this???

Review 126:The buffet spread is decent for breakfast and dinner.

Review 127:Extremely friendly staffs. Free bus and discount tickets. High quality dinner buffet. Wonderful onsen. Nice room, great view from the room and onsen. Close to all attractions.

Review 128:It was considered that it would be nice if the hotel could provide free shuttle service to collect and deliver customers to the nearby JR station as the public bus service in the area was not convenient.

Review 129:I really enjoyed the public baths there and the buffet offered by the hotel

Review 130:No secure door locking system - male staff entered room around 4pm to prepare futon bed for the night when I was taking a nap on the tatami. Awkward :-/ Perhaps the hotel can assigned female staff/s to do the task for rooms with only female guests.

Review 131:Onsen haven!! Onsen bath is HUGE and overlooking Jigokudani. 5-min walk to Jigokudani and the shopping street just in front of hotel. Am very glad that all request made upon reservation was fulfilled. Thank you.

Review 132:The onsen was great. The buffet dinner was worthwhile. As we stayed for 2 nights, we were served plates of premium sashimi on the 2nd night.

Review 133:nice spring with delicious food.

Review 134:Hot spring
