Reviews for Hotel Villa Romana
Review 1:Lack of proper toaster- what was provided was more like a grill pan. No instructions in how to use spa bath.
Review 2:Well located for bars, restaurants, shops, buses and beach. Lovely colour palette of white and grey. Excellent breakfast choice Dining room very unusual with it's overhead vine. Helpful ,pleasant staff.
Review 3:The only thing I would change is the size of the room. It seemed bigger on the website.
Review 4:The people at the hotel were very friendly and willing to help. The breakfast and dinner were lovely !!!!! Overall , this hotel is perfectly situated and full of character .
Review 5:"Americano" Style coffee was terrible, but ask for a fresh cappuccino from the bar.
Review 6:the pool was beautiful, the poolside chairs incredibly comfortable. The rooms were a crisp white and very clean.
Review 7:When you book a 4 star, with the price of a 4 star, you expect what you have paid for. This is a good 3 star hotel, breakfast is a 2 star
Review 8:See at walking distance, small cute town.
Review 9:There was no ventilation in our bathroom.
Review 10:Reception staff very helpful and approachable especially Roberta. The private pool is a pleasant change to the beach
Review 11:The location was great, literally a two minute walk to the beach. The pool was great, just closed too early. The owner was very nice, you would see her sitting in the lobby smiling and talking to all the guest making sure they were happy. Nice little lady!
Review 12:I would have liked a bit more info provided in the room - like the usual folder with hotel/local info. there was a notice board and the staff very helpful but it would have been nice to browse at leisure. Also we would have loved a kettle/tea making facilities in the room.
Review 13:The location of Villa Romana is great - especially if you have small children like us as it's close to the sea and flat compared to most towns on the coast here. The staff were really friendly and helpful, nicely decorated rooms and very clean, nice pool/area too - not huge but pleasant with areas for eating and light lunches/snacks/drinks served.
Review 14:The staff were all really helpful especially Roberta on the front desk who arranged tours and a fixed price taxi transfer for us. Also the pool man was really helpful and worked hard to make everything perfect!
Review 15:Quite a cramped pool area. Also, the boiler broke while we were there so we only had freezing cold water on our last night and the morning that we left. We realised there was a problem in the late afternoon so spoke to the receptionist - we were told to wait a little while as it was being looked at. This went on for about 3 hours which meant we were very late in getting ready and getting out for dinner. There was no apology for us being given the wrong information. Such a shame as we did like the hotel.
Review 16:Lovely location. Minori is very quiet - not full of tourists but there are still a good selection of restaurants to chose from. Antonio and Midnight Sun bar was brilliant. The hotel room was pretty and clean. Loads of choice at breakfast.
Review 17:The rooms were a little stuffy at night. But this was minor.
Review 18:Villa Romana is very well located. The rooms are fresh and lovely and the pool in particular was well worth the stay.
Review 19:Photos are very overstated. We arrived to no air conditioning and a veryhot and dark loby for our honey moon night after booking sight unseenfrom the us. Unfortunatly the front desk manager would not even workwith us on the cancellation fee even though we were there a day inadvance of our reservation. That night we had to pay for two honeymoonsuites because management would not even lower the pricing for us tocancel. We didn't even have a full length mirror in the room or onebed (two beds pushed together). Very discouraging. We were only askingfor some type of understanding due to the situation and received nonewhat so ever.
Review 20:Wifi connection very poor, rooms with small balconies to the road side little bit loud.
Review 21:Excellent location, private garage with vallet service, very nice restaurant, helpful staff, very clean rooms, nice pool.
Review 22:Balcony not great because of street location.
Review 23:Nice rooms, all white decor and bedding! Very clean. Nice buffet breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Beautiful pool ! Overall a nice comfortable hotel for the value on the amalfi coast.
Review 24:Room was very small, even for an economy room. Receptionist from the morning round was not polite. The staff are putting conditions, instead of trying to help and solve the problems of the guests. The car park service isn't worth the money, because we had a situation where our car was parked on the street for a longer period of time (more than 2 hours) with the driver window rolled down and car keys right above the steering wheel, without supervision. As if they invited someone to take the car for a drive. When asked the receptionist, she lied to my face. Also breakfast was not up to standards, the food was not so fresh, found mold on marmelade.
Review 25:The location of the hotel was good, approximately 250 meters from the beach and the hotel pool was very nice when not very crowded.
Review 26:The room was quite small but very clean. A good choice at breakfast. All staff were very polite and friendly particularly the pool attendant who was extremely helpful.
Review 27:Wi Fi inconsistent
Review 28:Excellent village location 2 minutes walk from beach, near to bars, shops and restaurants. Hotel staff extremely helpful and housekeeping excellent.
Review 29:As a young couple, the location was pretty bad, there is nothing to do in Minori. The hotel is situated on a littel road, it is used also by big cars and it is very noisy. That is a problem because the majority of the rooms are orientated to this road. Also the entry door is not sound proof so the noise comes from all directions, nogo for late sleepers. Breakfast was avarege.
Review 30:The rooms are clean and spacious. We liked the style also. The staff was very motivated and attentive.
Review 31:The location, Minori, is a very small place, also there is no free hotel parking area, only against 20 euro per night.
Review 32:Very clean, staff was very nice and helpful.
Review 33:It was nice hotel (looked better on the booking.com photos than in reality), but for price I expect a slightly more attentive reception staff and more comfortable bed.
Review 34:Good room, be it on the small-ish side, very clean and has all the necerarry facilities, spacious and well equipped bathroom. The bed wasn't the most comfortable, but acceptable for. The breakfast room and the actual breakfast were great and the waiting staff friendly. Be awear of the parking charges - 20euro per day! Also the Reception staff were friendly but weren't very good a given advice about the local restaurants or giving advice on the sights of interest in the area. Wifi was a little on and off.
Review 35:We booked thru booking and checked the option of wanting 2 full size beds. When we checked in, we were told this was not possible. The director and reception started arguing in front of us and it made us extremely uncomfortable. They finally just gave each of us our own room. While they fixed the issue, it still made me uncomfortable for the remainder of the trip. Then to get to the airport in time, we had to leave before 6am. It would have helped to have someone at the desk that knew how to check us out. He was confused and we nearly missed our bus.
Review 36:The rooms were comfortable. The staff was accommodating. It was close to the boardwalk and shops.
Review 37:We purchased discounted room which had scaffolding outside the window. Otherwise there was nothing to be displeased with.
Review 38:The hotel was well maintained and very clean and tidy. Mimmo was very attentive and gave very good service. The breakfast was of a high standard as was the meal prepared for us for dinner. This hotel is a good option for your next holiday on the coast.
Review 39:Tea, coffee and juice came from a machine! Overall the evening meals were mundane and very limited choices. Dining room was like a canteen. The hotel lacked atmosphere Absolutely not a four star hotel.
Review 40:Hotel clean and nice décor. As we had room at rear of hotel it was quiet.
Review 41:Parking in Minori is a tourist trap. Public parking rules are only posted in Italian and different rates apply on holidays and off-season. On top, at the coast-side parking you pay until 2:00 a.m. The hotel charges 20 EUR/ day, but we managed much cheaper by parking at the small square 75 m downhill from the hotel. I asked a police officer for advice on the rules, when we were visiting (early October). It was max 1 hour (0,60 EUR) and only from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Making daytrips out of Minori e.g.to Pompei it was not a problem to refill the meter a couple of times in the evening.
Review 42:Nice courtyard pool area still open in October. I was the only guest bathing and came after sun had set behind the hills. This was only 30 min before pool closing time, so they had already collected the towels (probably only a scandinavian would go bathing after sunset) But no problem, they willingly got me a towel and stayed beside the pool for safety until I was done. Good service! Breakfast is quite good vs Italian standard, but don't expect a culinary experience.
Review 43:Garage for the car was 20 euros for the night, a bit expensive we thought.
Review 44:Room was very clean and airy. Facilities were excellent. Breakfast was fantastic.
Review 45:Head waiter was very friendly but he insisted on seating us at the side or back of the restaurant at every breakfast and the one time we had dinner there. We felt as a family we were made to feel like second rate citizens, not being allowed to sit where we chose. If a hotel doesnt want families in their restaurant then they should not be offering family rooms.
Review 46:Reception staff, hotel pool, location, general correspondence. All correspondence with Roberta on reception was great.
Review 47:They were fully booked and we could only stay one night ...really wanted to stay longer....
Review 48:This hotel is so lovely..couldn't believe how nice it was just gorgeous with extremely helpful staff. If you are staying in Minori this would be the best hotel the others do not come any where near this standard..Much care is given high class and very reasonable rates via the internet. It says it is 4 star but is like 5 Star...
Review 49:I have no complaints.
Review 50:Excellent location to get around the coast and around town. Friendly people and good service. Wonderful pool. Awesome fruit at breakfast but be sure to ask them to make you a cappuccino instead of using the instant machine.
Review 51:This hotel is in the small village of Minori which is around 15 minutes to Amalfi and 40minutes to the town of Positano. It might not work for those who have just a day or two or the weekend to visit the Amalfi coast. Driving is stressful and a bus ride can end up disastrous with more than possible capacity of tourists and locals packed like sardines. If one wants to relax and make short trips to Amalfi ,Atari or Ravello then Minori as a base is more suitable. Another thing- we ended up paying for parking our car @ 20€ per day which was on the more expensive side.
Review 52:This is a lovely little hotel in Minori, a much smaller town compared to Amalfi or Positano. The room we got for our family was big with a clean large attached bath. Though we didn't have a view of the sea we didn't mind as we were out most days. The breakfast was very nice in their sunny bougainvillea covered courtyard and we loved the all white furnishings and decor. It was in keeping with the Mediterranean feel and pleasing to the eye.
Review 53:Nothing.
Review 54:Super family run hotel in centre of lovely town with nice restaurants and 5 mins walk from beach. Great attention to detail and excellent staff especially Dominic in restaurant. Nice pool area. Would definitely return to Minori and happily stay in this hotel again.
Review 55:Nothing to not like.
Review 56:Central in a real Italian unspoilt small town. Fascinating back streets and alleys to explore.
Review 57:Cleanliness
Review 58:Location Breakfast Room size
Review 59:Great location and excellent service. Nice Swimming pool and relax location but still close to nice restaurants.
Review 60:Bad location. Looked very different from photos online. No hot water.
Review 61:Nothing
Review 62:The free WiFi was very poor
Review 63:The location and cleanliness.
Review 64:the sunbeds, was a bit difficult for the mature person to get up from....
Review 65:everything
Review 66:Air conditioner was very noisy al night
Review 67:Best location
Review 68:Swimming pool, facilities and sun terraces were just what we needed.
Review 69:Saubere und grosse Zimmer. Freundliches Personal und ein gutes Frühstücksbuffet. Gerne wieder.
Review 70:The lack of any decent view from the balcony and the small size of the balcony
Review 71:The hotel is lovely and comfortable
Review 72:airconditioning to cold
Review 73:Breakfast, Quiet room, Staff
Review 74:Very noisy street in front of hotel. Very small, but very noisy ((
Review 75:Location in the heart of Amalfitan coast, nice city, good restaurants
Review 76:Breakfast and parking
Review 77:Amalfi coast...
Review 78:Everything was perfect.
Review 79:I had a pleasant and comfortable 11 nights at the Villa Romana Hotel, in Minori. Very helpful, charming staff and management. Clean, white and spotless bedding, towels and room plus the central location in the heart of the Town. Will be going back without any failure on my next visit.
Review 80:The staff were very unhelpful for example when trying to get taxisaround the area. They left us waiting for half an hour at one point anddidnt tell us there were no taxis were available until we asked. Therewere construction works going on during our stay which we weren'tinformed about and this kept one of our party awake and made it veryhard to relax by the pool. When asking the staff how long it would becontinuing for they just shrugged their shoulders. The breakfast wasvery basic and not enjoyable.
Review 81:The location was good as it was close to the beach andrestaurants/bars.
Review 82:Liked everything.
Review 83:Location near beach, near all shopping, had swimming pool, very clean bathroom and room.
Review 84:Some local restaurants expensive.
Review 85:Minori was charmful. Not commercialised in any way. Ideal base to travel around the coast without the crowds.
Review 86:The hotel was being renovated--very,very noisy from 7.30 in the morning
Review 87:The staff were lovely. I really liked the food.
Review 88:The pool area was awful. The head waiter was not very pleasant or helpful.
Review 89:One particular girl at reception was very helpful.
