Review 1：The beach could do with a clean up, but the resort is in great condition for its age.

Review 2：Great property and far better value than then Shangri-La Rasa Ria. Rooms are bigger and are closer to the ocean with better views. Sure Rasa Ria probably has a nicer pool complex and the Orangatuns, but couldn't fault Nexus. Food awesome and lots of variety, staff very helpful and always happy. nice long beach,

Review 10：Poor maintenance of facilities. No Wifi in the room. Reception do not say thank you and I am sorry when they had to. Isolated and ripped off since there's no choice. Dirty swimming pool. Garbages here and there along the beach side. Priority to group guests rather than individual guest who pays more and stay longer.

Review 12：Buildings and rooms in poor conditions, price too high for the quality. Pools swamped with kids (no adults/kids pool area separated). Expensive food and poor quality. Much better go to the city for a good meal (except on Kingfisher restaurant). Too far away from everything, and compared to other resorts, same prices for less than half of quality. Looong beach, but DIRTY! Although this is a problem of the entire island, not Nexus fault here.

Review 13：Huge resort, and the best of this place was THE STAFF. Great people doing their best with what they have. Every single person was kind and attentive.

Review 14：we found overall the food very average and the service and possibilities limited. Only the Olive restaurant was good food, but you could only get one type of wine by the glass??? Rest of restaurants were really not ok and could be much better. Breakfast was the only thing which was good. New years eve party was horrible (too loud, bad free drinks, bad atmosphere). overall it looked like it lacked management and somebody to look at finishing touches etc. there were also several staff sitting around to play cards, and even looking/relaxing at swimming pool etc. It is a shame that in a beach bar f.e. you can only get such limited medium type of food and snacks. For the location and the price, I normally would have come back, but due to the food and drinks I will most probably not.

Review 17：We had the best time here even though just for one night. Our rooms were free upgraded to Royal Villa thanks so much Nexus Karambunai!! The villa is amazing!!! We will definitely come here again next time. Breakfast spread is awesome, the beach is really comforting despite red flag, we spent hours by the beach.

Review 18：The front desk staff ( kate) who greet us was impatient n she did not bother to answer our queries n not helpful at all. However the rest of the staff are most friendly n helpful. The cleanliness of the room was not done properly upon check in.

Review 20：Lovely setting surrounded by jungle. Beautiful warm water and uncrowded beach. Casual atmosphere. Once you can get your head around the facilities and activities (or lack thereof) you can have a great break here

Review 21：1. Not so friendly front office. We had our extended family of 10 adults/youngsters and 4 children in 5 rooms for 3 nights. Kate who checked us in on 24 Dec even lied by telling us they only had 4 rooms left on the ground floor and that one room had to be on a different floor ie 5217. But when my sister experienced faulty aircond, they managed to move to room 5105 around midnight. So 5105 on the ground floor was indeed available. Anyway I had to check out from room 5117 early at 7.30am on 27 Dec to visit Pulau Mantanani. I settled the bills for all 5 rooms before I left. But I had arranged for late check out at 2.00pm for the remaining family members in the other 4 rooms ie Room 5118, 5102, 5103 & 5105. Later I was told the front office called one of the rooms around noon telling my family members to check out of the rooms immediately. Those from room 5117, 5102 and 5103 ie 6 children/teenagers and my 4 elderly parents and parents in law (who are 91,88, 81 & 80 years old) panicked and obliged and had to wait in the lobby until my sister & her husband completed their treatment at the Borneo Spa before checking out of room 5105. That was terribly unfair and inconsiderate. 2. Litters / washed ashore rubbish uncollected/ not removed on some parts of the beach 3. Some parts of the resort are a bit run down. Great if the presidential villas can be refurbished.

Review 23：What we dislike is Staff and restaurant. Can you imagine the flies everywhere in the restaurant. When we get our soup, the insect is inside the soup. Before change, the person Incharge mention this "the fly not die yet.... It is not from the kitchen"

Review 27：I check in to the hotel on Christmas eve. Room 8401 and room 8402. Room 8401 air conditioning is not cold. I complain twice to the reception and the technician came and did some checking, but the result still the same. I was sweating sleeping during the night, and cant really get into sleep becoz of the room temperature. Its ny wife bday on Christmas day. I ask for special decoration for the room and i got an email replying to me saying rm100 will be charge to my room if i wan the special decoration for my room. Isnt a 5 star hotel should do everything they can to satisfy their customer. I am renting 2 rooms and paying rm2300++ when i check out. But the money that i pay, doesnt worth it.

Review 31：We enjoyed everything at Nexus Resort and Spa, the only thing I would say is to add more amenities in the bathroom such as a comb and maybe toothbrush and toothpaste like other 5 star hotels. Also some of the food was very overpriced for a resort, especially after paying a nightly price for a 5 star to stay in the hotel. Breakfast on Sunday was restricted for westerners also.

We could not believe how bad it was so we order some other regular dish like sweet and sour chicken... still very bad. Do yourself a favor eat at The Pengu. They don't have too many option of cocktail because lack of alcohol option...

Review 48：Perfect Beach getaway: 6km of white sand beach, clean and warm water. It was our Anniversary and they surprise us why a cake. Thank you!!! We book the sea view room. The room was big with a nice balcony. The Pool was good and clean. The service was average+. I will go back

Review 53：The hotel is located quite far from kk itself. The lagoon water park,which is for residents of the hotel only, is very basic. We had fun butit's really expensive for what is actually on offer and you have topay extra for most activities. The hotel restaurants are expensive andthe food is not good. A lot of the time any item we asked for wasunavailable. Go into town to eat instead - even with the taxi fareit's cheaper and better. The trips which can be booked at the hotelare very expensive. Some of the staff were friendly but others not. Thereception area is nice but the public areas, in particular the toilets,could do with more regular cleaning.

Review 54：The rooms were clean and spacious. The pool area, when open, is nice andthe pool itself is clean. Duty Manager Justin was very friendly andhelpful. Kids club was good, my girls really enjoyed painting theirbatiks, and we learned how to weave coconut leaves.

Review 66：The hotel is very quiet and has its own huge and nice beach which wasn't packed. The neighborhood is beautiful as the hotel lays in a big park and surrounded by hills which are covered with jungle. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and cleaned two-three times a day. Staff was extremely friendly, attentive and customer-oriented. The choice for breakfast was large to serve everybody (Western, Chinese, Japanese, Indian).

Review 76：Resort feels like it needs a bit of work in places. The main building is impressive, and the rooms were lovely (apart from no wifi in rooms). The grounds were however not as spotless as we would have liked. Its a shame there weren't more people there when we stayed, as the restaurants were empty and no matter how good the food was, atmosphere in the restaurants was a bit lacking. Unfortunately on one of our days, there was a displeasing smell around the pool, which when asked, the staff reported that it was from a nearby compost factory. We moved closer to the beach to get away from the smell. Unfortunately horse trekking was not available.

Review 77：This resort has the potential to be great as the location is perfect with a beautiful, huge beach surrounded by rainforest. The staff are exceptionally friendly also.

Review 78：Although the beach was big and spacious and private, there were still litter on the beach. And there's sandfly - we came back with sandfly bite marks all over unfortunately. Although the hotel staff is friendly and attentive, one made a not so nice comment (in their own native language - which they didnt know i understood) to us while serving our food - that i thought was not so nice.

Review 79：The room we had (Seaview Deluxe Double / Twin Room) was very spacious, even the bathroom was spacious. The hotel (property) was spread out nicely, giving each guest their own space to enjoy. Food at the chinese restaurant was good, followed by Penyu restaurant, the rest was so so. The beach sand was very fine & ocean water was really clear.

The view is not that good because of the trees before the building. The shower is very nice. Our flight was at the end of the day and they arranged that we could shower in the spa.

Review 90：There are 4 things i did not like. 1. No wifi in my room. I know that you do this to keep it quiet, but it was inconvenient. 2. When your Resort was empty it was quiet, however late at night it was loud and some guests were really noisy. 3. Your Chinese guests were really rude and did not care about other guests and several times cut right in front of me for lines at especially breakfast. 4. I wish the shuttle to the base was free. It's a 10 minute drive and drop off and the driver could not take me all the way to my destination.

Review 92：Pleasant resort hotel, with golf course and magnificent beach. Very comfortable , friendly and attentive staff. Couldn't fault it any way, excellent choice for our purposes. Chose the Malay buffet option for dining, very pleasant. Large comfortable room on top floor, be prepared to walk a long way, the resort is huge , nice swimming pool area. Slightly faded in some places, but all in all a good choice.

Review 106：Because it was out of main season a couple of the restaurants were closed and being refurbished, which meant the choice of restaurants was a bit limited. Also, the snorkel boat tour for a half day is a bit of a waste of time. Would recommend just going to the pier yourself and booking onto a trip from there.

Review 107：We went in March which meant the place was very quiet but the weather superb. The staff are fantastic. They were so attentive to my girlfriend's allergies, even preparing gluten-free bread and bringing coconut milk with breakfast!

Review 108：Rubbish on the beach - this is partly the visitors' fault, but the hotel staff should comb through the beach area early in the morning and 2 other times throughout the day and once again before sundown. There were a lot of broken lights along the pathway making it a bit of a challenge to move around at night. Please invest in a proper coffee machine with good coffee beans. Please.

Review 109：The location, although a bit secluded and far from KK town, but i guess that's why we liked it. It was quiet and far away from the busy city life. Clear blue water and soft sands! Yummy food all the way! Spa was ok (average I would say) but the spa building is nice, it'll be better if the masseuse had been better trained. Oh! And the hotel ground is huge (including the long long long sandy beach)! I like that because it means not all visitors will congregate at one area.

Review 111：The staff make up for any shortfalls at the hotel. Every single staff member greeted you as they crossed your path. How to make a guest feel welcome! I mentioned it was my wedding anniversary while we were there. Not only did they send a cake but also a lovely card which staff members had signed. A much more personal touch. Pools were great. my son loved the kids club and we enjoyed the spacious grounds.

Review 112：The staff assigned us a room which is already occupy with guest. The guest was very shocked when i entered the room. I told the reception about it & i got a room upgrade. However, the aircond was not cold. I dont want to alert the hotel as it was late i.e 3.30am.

Review 122：Been there quite a few times in past years, facilities getting old and require significant of maintenance work to be done, especially their pool side bar, restaurants and water sport facilities. Until then I may no pay visit this resort again.

Review 123：The aircondition in the room is slow despite of the fan is on high and temperature was set low. The bicycle should be properly maintained and should provide bicycles for people who are tall. Should provide variety of food in view that the resort is located quite far from KK city.

Review 127：The whole resort had been left to age and showed poor maintenance, with many things broken (in-room safes, leaking bath, tv controls etc.), leakage stains in ceilings throughout, musty smell in rooms ... generally needing a total revamp.

Review 128：The location was a consideration for us many years ago for our first stay. The main lobby was beautifully constructed and still shows it's former glory.

Review 129：I feel that I am being watched by too many people-the security guards, the people on the rescue tower, the people manning the sports facilities. I think the hotel should have more choice on its room service menu. Simple but delicious items can make a lot of difference to some people. On top of that, quite a lot items sold at the hotel's 'sundry shop' is over-priced. I know, the location is far away from the city, maybe that's the reason. I also hope newspapers can be provided upon request. The Wifi needs a lot of improvement. Guests have only their smartphones to communicate with friends and colleagues and they need a good Wifi system. The welcome drink is a disappointment. For a 5 star hotel, Nexus should be wary of its prestige. What we got was a very basic and low cost drink. That's a let down. Lastly, I hope the waiting time for food delivery, both at the restaurant and for room service can be reduced. I suspect the hotel didn't have enough staff. One last note: maybe the hotel can place mosquito traps near the hotel blocks.

Review 130：The beach was gorgeous. Clean and well-maintained. The beach is also exclusive to hotel guests only, so it's not too crowded. The hotel surrounding is also conducive--quiet, calm and safe.It's good for those who really wants to escape the busy life. The staff were helpful and courteous.

Review 131：The distance from the city is far and transfer rate should readjust for guest plying to and fro to the city and also transfer to airport

Review 133：The air condition shut down after mid night. Check with the maintenance, they said they shut it down to reduce electricity usage. For a 5 Start hotel, I cannot understand why they do that and most important point is they never inform the hotel quest.

Review 134：I do find the check in and out process are quite slow. Since it was my first time here, I'm not sure whether it was normal or it was due to the peak season/ Christmas week. One more thing, this is sort of our mistake but we just want to inform as a reminder to everyone. We ordered 2 items from the swimming pool bar and my husband signed the bill without checking it first (he was confident that the listed items/price was correct). While checking out, we realized that we've been charged on additional items that we did not ordered from the swimming pool bar. Oh well, it was a silly mistake that we have to pay. Lesson learned for us and a reminder for everyone to check their bill before signing.

Review 135：Warm welcomed by the staff when we arrived. They were friendly and helpful. We were treated with cold towel before check in process starts. Check in was done smoothly except that our room was not ready so we were advise to go for lunch first. The resort is huge! Good for family with kids. Large compound to hang out and run around. Big swimming pool and ocean was on our doorstep. Within the resort, there are golf club, spa, games room, convenience store, gift shop, dessert cafe, bicycle rent etc. There are also a few restaurants that you can choose from. The food is good. Plus so many activities and tours to do (extra charges). There are no reason for you to go out of the resort as everything is provided within the resort. In case you're bored, there is a shuttle service to town and a few shopping malls for your to explore (RM24 return trip per person). We booked the hotel with an intention to rest & relax after a long trip visiting the Borneo rainforest so it was really good stay for us. The hotel room is spacious and the view is ocean view is breathtaking. we love listening to the ocean sound while sleeping. We also love the hotel bed, it's comfortable. Privacy is good as the resort compound is large. Even though it was during peak season/Christmas week, we don't feel it was too crowded except during breakfast hour only. My personal highlight would be the Borneo Spa! Had the best massage there and the facilities are excellent. Interior of the spa is very nice and relaxing. Not forgetting the resort resident in the ponds, the monitor lizards. Beautiful species :) Additional note: The resort is 50 minutes by taxi (RM75 per taxi) from Kota Kinabalu International airport.

Review 136：Pathway along Borneo wings are not so bright. No wifi in room sadly. Seems like less time for the cleaners to clean the stairs and walkways.

Review 137：We like the privacy. Staff were very helpful and friendly, was not expecting Nexus resort would surprise me but they did by sending me a birthday cake. It was a sweet surprise.

Review 138：-playroom for the kids, gym and playeroom for adulta were closed too early -far away of everything. You always need a taxi or shuttle -hotel advertised for example xmas dinner which never happened. Other same kind of incidents also -price level is way too high compared to local level -basically everything is closed after 22.30

Review 140：The pictures of the blue beautiful water is false. The water has rough waves and is completely brown from the sand. Luckily, it was warm otherwise we would have not swam in the sea. There wasn't anything to do on the resort for guests that we didn't have to pay for. As guests who already paid for the room and all the food except breakfast, we thought maybe they would accommodate us in otherwise but they didn't. We even had to pay for a game of pool. It would have been nice to have some activities included.
