Reviews for Hotel La Royale
Review 1:My room smelled of chemicals SO BAD, that I had to ask for another room. Some other rooms did not have a door to the bathroom, which is strange, to say the least.
Review 2:Friendly staff and convenient location near train station
Review 3:Room was dark & basic. No mirror in bedroom only one was in a tight corner of the bathroom. Brasserie was being totally gutted & refurbished and we were not warned in advance.
Review 4:Great location. Clean comfy bed.
Review 5:Fungus smell in the bathroom Cheap interior of the room Very small room Price is too high for this single smelly room
Review 6:Location Breakfast Friendly staff
Review 7:No coffee and tea making facilities not even a kettle. Very disappointed I wouldn't of booked knowing this.
Review 8:Location was good. Rooms clean and modern
Review 9:the shower was very small and equipped with a curtain which sticked to the body while showering
Review 10:good location near the station, the bathroom was kind of big, but the shower itself very small
Review 11:The first day when I came for breakfast there was no hot food and the staff did not want to prepare anything. Only after the intervention from reception I have got eggs and bacon.
Review 12:The English woman at the reception desk and other staff was very frrendly and nice!
Review 13:The shower did not maintain a constant temperature; I had to adjust it every 15 seconds.
Review 14:The staff at reception went out of their way to be helpful. The hotel is well located, just across the street from from the train station and a 10 minute walk to the very centre of the city. Even though my room overlooked a busy square, the room was not noisy. If you are looking for a basic hotel, this is a very good choice.
Review 15:Lodge tries to preserve the original character of the Hotels. (See the nice terrazzo floors) The noise isolation is somewhat basic and my bathroom was functional and clean, but not impressive. If you're looking for a luxury place, you'll be deceived.
Review 16:The location near to the train station is very good for a stay in Leuven. If you're looking for a functional hotel for a night, this hotel is a fair deal
Review 17:Awful bed, did not sleep well at all. More generally, the room needed updating. Overall, it was greatly overpriced.
Review 18:Beautiful old hotel at great location. Friendly staff
Review 19:This property has two main problems: (1) The walls are not even close to sound-proof, and the noise coming from the corridor is terrible. As soon as someone coughs there will be a reverberating echo; (2) There are hot water issues. The first room I got didn't have any at all in the sink, but the receptionist kindly agreed to change it (a downgrade to a much smaller room but it doesn't matter). The flow of hot AND cold water in the new (downgraded) room was, at best, about a quarter of what you normally would expect (as an example, it took 12-13 seconds to fill a small plastic cup). The water flow in the shower was fine, on the other hand. Finally, I had to pay more for the downgraded room than for the much better room that I had booked online!!! The breakfast room was severely understaffed when I had my breakfast, but the breakfast itself was OK.
Review 20:The location is fine, comfortably in front of the train station.
Review 21:The location was great, the hotel was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and filling, and the staff were very helpful and courteous.I would choose this hotel every time.
Review 22:a little expensive, but understandable at Rock Werchter time of the year. WiFi was a little weak in the room but OK in the lobby.
Review 23:Location is amazing, right outside of the main station.
Review 24:the wifi dosen't really work in the rooms. also, after 11 the gates are closed and if you've left your key at reception, you will need to wait for a receptionist (we had to wait for quite a while)
Review 25:the hotel is very comfortable and located in a very central location
Review 26:Overpriced during festival days.
Review 27:The location is just 2 minutes from the train and shuttles to the festival, breakfast is good Facilities are ok, not more, but it's a lot more comfi than camping on festival grounds.
Review 28:We were hoping for a good night's sleep to set us up for our second long day's drive. But no such luck. There was lots of shouting in the early hours and then again before 5am. Staff I thought!
Review 29:Breakfast was good. Room was very basic but good shower.
Review 30:* the facilities and particularly WiFi could have been better * small window looking out on building corner
Review 31:* excellent service (staff) * very good localisation
Review 32:The location opposite the station and within walking distance to the centre of town. The breakfast with fresh fruit and real (not industrial) pastries.
Review 33:Excellent place to stay. Staff were all very helpful, it is in a great location, and the breakfast was wonderful. It was not a luxury hotel but I don't require much and it was clean and comfortable.
Review 34:Breakfast could contain more vegetables. Door to the rooms should be noise proof as any whispering from corridors can be heard, but people not always whisper.
Review 35:Very well located just next to train station short walk from downtown. Room was microscopic as historical building permits ( Single bed and less than 1 meter from sides). Room was othervice clean, bed comfortable enough to sleep well.
Review 36:There was a strange smell in the bathroom and the noise from the ventilation when using the light. But did not disturb too much.
Review 37:The hotel is situated in a very convenient location, close to the center, train and bus stations and free parking place for a car nearby. The personnel was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant provided with tasty food, no need to search for a place to have dinner. The breakfast was good with fresh and divers bread.
Review 38:- room sizes differ dramatically; - food smells in stairwells and lifts.
Review 39:- breakfast was good; - beds comfy; - clean towels every day; - easy check out and luggage storage; - great restaurant attached to the hotel.
Review 40:Room was a little too warm and we had some problems getting enough air circulation as the window overlooked a closed shaft. Looking at some other rooms while they were opened for cleaning did not appear to have the same problem. Breakfast was ample and varied, but the scrambled eggs were extremely overcooked!
Review 41:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean. Breakfast had everything I would expect. Great location if you need to be in close proximity to the train station as well as the city centre, which is within 5 minutes walking distance.
Review 42:Shower very primitive and leaked onto the bathroom floor. Overall a poor impression. Small bed in single room, feels like a servants room. Much too expensive.
Review 43:The view from the room, cleanness. Location on station square.
Review 44:First room we got was like a prison cell ,windos blacked out,v dark ,skinny bed white sheet like hospital bed,,told no other room,,magic when said wasnt stayin in that room found us another was tiny with 1 bed when.i had booked twin bed,,not place to relax ,,then.we got stuck.in lift ,,terrified ,,wouldnt stay again
Review 45:Not much ,,location good,,
Review 46:Nice hotel, fantastic location, bar closed very early. Check parking out before you arrive. Staff are excellent very helpful rooms clean and comfortable. Great value hotel in lovely place.
Review 47:The room needs an overhaul, new paint and improvements. The smell in the corridors is not nice. Considering the price one could expect a better environment.
Review 48:The hotel is in the centre near the railway station and shopping area. It has a nice restaurant and bar inside. The room is OK
Review 49:Noisy, street noise plus hearing everything from other rooms.
Review 50:Location is the best in this hotel. Good value for the money, compared to other hotels in the city.
Review 51:You've got to remember this is a 2* hotel and so it is a little old & tired when it comes to decor. This would have been my only did'nt like, but don't let this put you off. I would stay here again
Review 52:Right next to Rail & Bus stations. Restaurant & Bar situated on ground floor. Free internet for all devices. Friendly staff and clean room
Review 53:Our room overlooked the busy square by the railway station but there was no noise to contend with. The centre of Louven was within a 10 minute stroll and didnt disappoint.
Review 54:very dark rooms - after turning on all lamps (four lamps) it was still too dark to read!
Review 55:great location nice building quite tasty breakfast free wifi nice staff
Review 56:Restaurant/bar closed quiet early (10.30pm) so not so convenient for late arrivals, however, there are other bars/restaurant in the vicinity
Review 57:Good location close to the railway and bus stations, interesting architecture and decor
Review 58:The room was rather small and there was not enough lighting at night. There was a bit of noise (both from the inside and the outside of the hotel) due to poor isolation. The mattress was over used and the pillows very small. The cleaning was basic since I did find a few hair and dust on the bed...
Review 59:The hotel is located across the train/bus station and even close to the town centre (10min walking). The breakfast was excellent. The wifi was working perfectly during my stay and the stuff was rather helpful. The bathroom was well sized. It's is ok (although rather basic) for a couple of nights only.
Review 60:The heating of my room did not work and the room was cold. I asked to change the room but instead I was given a heater. It become warm with the heater but the room was tiny and the heating also took some place which made walking around the room little difficult. The location of my room was exactly in front of the elevator and I can heard guests' movements and communication in the corridor easily.
Review 61:The location is good right in front of the train station of lovely Leuven. It is only 10-15 minuets walk to the center of the city, although the city is not a big one.
Review 62:No tea/coffee facilities in room. Space in room a bit confined.
Review 63:Location really excellent with very good breakfasts, comfortable beds, wifi throughout, very clean, good bathroom and friendly staff. Reasonable value for money
Review 64:= there was no hairdryer in the bathroom
Review 65:= the room was nice and clean = the breakfast was perfect = so close to the bus- and trainstation and the square was very nice
Review 66:Would have loved tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Found the pillows rather small and uncomfortable. Some drawer storage space for longer stays than overnight.
Review 67:Extremely helpful pleasant staff. Very close to the train station which was perfect. Direct walking route from the hotel into the centre of Leuven. Very adequate and enjoyable breakfast. Light airy bedroom.
Review 68:The WLAN is a nightmare. It worked in the morning, but is terribly bad in the evening (for all three days)
Review 69:Located close to the station on a lively place with many restaurants. Only 15 minutes walk to the city centre.
Review 70:Broken light in room Wifi was tempermental No parking
Review 71:Friendly, professional staff The breakfast The old-world feel but modern, clean facilities
Review 72:We should have heeded the good advice and park our car behind the station, as it got towed. Our fault... It looked as if the hotel was on a main square but it's a short walk to the center, albeit on a shopping avenue.
Review 73:We enjoyed the very friendly reception and being able to choose a room by seeing a few. We loved the uniqueness of the top floor corner room with its great view. The restaurant at night and the breakfast were great, too.
Review 74:Noise at front of hotel until early morning. Double glacing should reduce noise but on a hot night the lack of AC necessitates open window
Review 75:Comfortable largw bed. Good breakfast
Review 76:No double glazing so a LOT of outside noise (room 208) , No airco even though theres plenty of space above the wardrobe to fit independent unit, no decent TV channels...Wifi signal poor and intermittent
Review 77:Large bedroom with HUGE bed and full bathroom with decent toiletries , lift , breakfast included in price
Review 78:Room was rather small with one tiny window, but minor issue given all the great things about this hotel
Review 79:Was lucky to get a last minute booking for 2 nights when the airline lost my bags with all my camping gear. All staff were great especially Alexandria who saved my life by taking messages from the airline and making sure my bags were waiting for me when I returned from the festival. Hotel is in a great location directly across from the Leuven rail station. Room was small but reasonable price given everything was fully booked that weekend due to the festival. And the free breakfast is probably the best I've ever had at a hotel. Can't say enough good things about this hotel.
Review 80:Near the mainstation, good breakfast.
Review 81:Breakfast room was a bit crowded
Review 82:Execelent location
Review 83:The location is in the heart of Leuven, staff was helpfull, breakfast was so delicious, I liked this hotel.
Review 84:Little nociy bc of traffic and poorly soundproof rooms.
Review 85:Perfect location! Nice breakfast!
Review 86:Poor wifi
Review 87:Really small room with beatiful view from window
Review 88:Breakfast from 7 am (I had to leave earlier), and smell of smoke in the room.
Review 89:Position for the station
Review 90:Cobwebs on the ceiling Room needed a full length mirror
Review 91:Great location Very comfortable beds
Review 92:The room. At the backside.
Review 93:The location
Review 94:Room was a bit cramped for space
Review 95:Friendly staff, convenient to train station

Review 97:Not have hair dryer
Review 98:the location of the hotelwhich is near the train station
Review 99:Badly situated. Lot of Noise from outside traffic and parties. I got a room in which I got the noise from the stair case as well. Not recommended.
Review 100:The room was a little smaller than expected, but not uncomfortable.
Review 101:The staff were great and friendly.
Review 102:The only negative thing was that the room was situated towards the train station and there were quit many sounds from that area early in the morning.
Review 103:Very close to train station, nice old building 1923, close to anything nice in the city
Review 104:the room
Review 105:the breakfast
Review 106:Super polite, kind and helpful staff
Review 107:None
Review 108:View from the hotel. Friendly staff. Easy access to hotel rooms.
Review 109:The noise of the buses ...
Review 110:The room had a little bit of a musty smell when entering the room.
Review 111:Wifi was not working, the room at the front was already in the sun from 06:00 in the morning and during a heat wave became very warm
Review 112:No air-conditioning
Review 113:Location
Review 114:The room
Review 115:Curtains in the room were poor.
Review 116:Location, staff
Review 117:Bathroom was a bit smelly.
Review 118:A bit old room. The floor sounds heavy.
Review 119:Near the station. WiFi is OK for Mac. Nice breakfast.
Review 120:nothing
Review 121:Got upgraded to a double room. Nice breakfast
Review 122:The show was no nice.
Review 123:Rather antiquated lift with no inner doors. Room was smallish for 2 people and the lighting was very dim.
Review 124:Very handy for the railway and bus stations.
Review 125:Very convenient to the railway station, at a good price.
Review 126:My only complaint is poor shower pressure, otherwise a supburb place to stay.
Review 127:TV in room was a very oldfashioned and small one and displayed unclear pictures.
Review 128:Perfect location because of just in front of the station
