Reviews for Antico Borgo Petralia
Review 1:This is a wonderful place to stay. Close to Mt Etna and other sight-seeing possibilities. The food is wonderful. The staff just can't do enough for you; they are great. We highly recommend this place.
Review 2:Staff and service provided, in particular by Sarah was superb. Brilliantly clean efficient and welcoming villa, surrounded by the family and countryside. A real treat. We were given excellent tourism advice and recommendations for one evening's dinner in Milo, and enjoyed a home cooked meal at the villa the night before.a welcome drink / aperitif was a thoughtful gesture.
Review 3:Nothing
Review 4:Me and my wife are experienced travelers, but we’ve never been in such a wonderful place for that price. Owners are awesome! They behave in a way that constantly lets you feel like a most welcomed guest. Our GPS got lost on our way to the place, but when we called the owners to get directions, they simply came to pick us. Upon arrival we were welcomed with tea and cake. We were allowed to choose from three different rooms – one better than other. The backyard, the swimming pool, the view – everything was amazing. We’ve chosen a room with three windows, giving you amazing view to the Etna on one side and view to the seashore on another side. It was awesome to wake up among all this beauty! The place was exceptionally clean. Breakfasts were great. You can also order dinner – and we did that number of times. All the food was very fresh and tasty. The location is very convenient, it is easy to get to Catagna, Etna and Taormina. Thank you for the great vacation! I highly recommend this place to everybody visiting Sicilia.
Review 5:Nothing.
Review 6:A friendly and hospitable family run business. Nothing was too much trouble. Incredible location with views from the ocean to Mt Etna (when not in cloud). Excellent home cooked meals. Great facilities including pool.
Review 7:It rained, but not for long
Review 8:A brilliant location between volcano and sea. Beautifully restored buildings with stunning views. Restful and calm and relaxed AND a great swimming pool. Above all the family (Petralia) who run the hotel are helpful, considerate and always attentive. Fantasticissimo
Review 9:Slightly on the expensive side, but worth every penny in reality.
Review 10:Staff are extremely friendly and will try to accommodate your every request. Food is divine, especially the home-made cakes prepared by the property owner. Spotless room and facilities. Great views. Relaxing atmosphere.
Review 11:The directions on Google Maps and from Booking.com had us going on roads hat were almost undriveable so ask hotel for directions. Beds were quite hard.
Review 12:The setting and buildings are magnificent both in terms of design and the views of sea and Mt. Etna. The staff could not be more lovely and accommodating. The food was delicious and the fresh warm cakes in the morning a treat.
Review 13:Finding it! Needs a few more signs directing you to reception as well as en route to it
Review 14:Sara front of house very welcoming on arrival , we had fresh lemon drink mamas almond cake .then we had a swim in the pool which was "fresh"! Dinner was first class Al fresco on terrace as was breakfast which was lovely.
Review 15:The owners of this family run hotel are very welcoming and do their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The breakfast with its regional products was one of our highlights of the days we have spent there.
Review 16:This was one of the nicest places I've stayed. It's family run and everybody was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. It was about 15 minutes drive inland and was an oasis of calm with beautiful views down to the sea on one side and up to etna on the other. The pool was perfect and never crowded. Breakfast always included delicious home baked cakes and dinner was well cooked and good value. The property has been beautifully renovated - if you do visit ask to see the film showing the ruined state before the family did it up. Everything has been finished to a very high standard. I would recommend Antico Borgo Petralia to anyone visiting the area. You won't be disappointed!
Review 17:What a Gem an amazing hotel owned & run by the most charming helpful local family. The home cooked food was out of this world all cooked by Mama and team on site. Sarah (daughter) was front of house and was exceptional - a charming stay - I do not hesitate to recommend as first class in every respect.
Review 18:The location is amazing, on one side the mediterranean sea and on the other the Etna. This is a family business and they treat you better than in a 5 star hotel. You can also have dinner enjoying the cooking of the owner, la cucina di la mamma! Everything homemade and vegetabgles from their own garden. All the facilities are very clean and they take care of all details, you can even ask for towels for the swimming pool. The staff is extremely helpful, giving tips for travelling around and helping you as much as they can. By car you are 40 min from Catania's airport and once you reach this hotel Zafferana is 5 min by car, where there are shops and restaurants.
Review 19:A beautiful hotel in a spectacular setting on Mt. Etna. The family is hands on with the Mother in the kitchen, daughter Sara at the desk and the father overseeing the hotel. We were so impressed with the quality of the food and attention to details at the hotel.
Review 20:I loved everything - the location (watched Etna erupt from the outside seating area) - the staff (Sara was the sweetest person ever!), the rooms were functional and comfortable, both dinner and breakfast were delicious and expansive (made by Sara's mom who even gave me a hug after breakfast!). My entire family loved this place and begs to go back!
Review 21:The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The food was delicious with fresh produce used daily. The grounds and swimming pool were in excellent condition.
Review 22:Nothing!
Review 23:Sara, our host, made us feel most welcome and couldn't do enough for us. Her mother's cooking is fantastic and dinners really good. Spectacular views in both directions, wonderful pool
Review 24:not easy to find.
Review 25:Very friendly reception. We had a late arrival around 22:30 and nevertheless therecwas still a meal available. The food was excellent.
Review 26:a lilttle hard to find without a GPS
Review 27:very comfortable rooms, great home cooking at a reasonable price- cooked by Mama to our specifications. Sarah- the owner's daughter was warm and attentive, ensuring that we were well cared for and happy. HIghly recommended!
Review 28:Stay too short
Review 29:Amazing attention to detail and staff ready to accomodate. Their restaurant changes menu on a daily basis and serves very fresh produce. Most amazing meal in etna area. This borgo is family run and offer true geniune hospitality.
Review 30:Need a Sat Nav to arrive easily. We seemed to appraoch the Villa from a different direction each time - do not underestimate the labyrinth of roads locally.
Review 31:Food was excellent value and mostly without fault. We ate in every night for ease. Lovely pastries and eating in was a pleasure. Staff were really lovely and could not be more helpful. Easy to access Etna, Taorima and even Syraceuse. We were given a choice of rooms too.
Review 32:The food was copious but was not to the same standard as the welcome and accommodation.
Review 33:The staff were charming and very attentive. The views down to the coast were fabulous. The restoration and fitting out of the buildings has been done with considerable care and attention.
Review 34:The B & B Antico Borgo in Zafferana Etnea, is an outstanding lodging conveniently located near one of the primary roads to Mt. Etna. I highly recommend this beautifully restored borgo without reservation. The inn itself has attractive comfortable rooms. The grounds are exceptionally well landscaped with pleasant outdoor eating and socializing areas. It is a family run lodging. The wife is an outstanding cook and baker, serving delicious breakfasts and evening meals. The meals were the best we had in Sicily and her pastries were the fresh and delicious. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and the owners, and their daughter, go out of their way to make you feel at home.
Review 35:If we had to be really picky, we travelled by public transport and found the hotel rather difficult to reach, although the hotel do arrange transfers on request.
Review 36:This family run hotel is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle. The staff were really friendly and really went out of their way to ensure our stay was the best it could possibly be. We did not have an issue with the wifi, it was fantastic during our stay.
Review 37:Choose the hotel because of reviews and I wasn't disappointed. Well positioned for Etna,Taormino, etc. Tricky to find as TomTom doesn't recognise the number given. Google maps slightly better. Family run and very friendly.
Review 38:The family and staff made real effort to make our stay enjoyable, being both friendly and very helpful. We were particularly impressed with the food, freshly prepared every day. breakfast was invariably a magical experience and the fact that we ate in every evening indicates that we really did enjoy the food! The whole setting of the accommodation was wonderful with views up to Etna and down to the sea. The grounds were immaculate and the pool refreshing.
Review 39:WiFi was not always stable but yeah your on vacation so just let the internet be the internet for some time ;-)
Review 40:Antico Borgo is a splendid accomodation if you are exploring the east of Sicily! The phrase 'underpromise, overdelivery' is 100% applicable. The food is fresh and good, the rooms are great, the service and kindness of the family running it are unmatched even in service oriented tourist places like New York.
Review 41:Friendly staff and personal reception with homemade cake. Clean and comfortable rooms and beautiful garden and swimming pool. Near the sea and near the Etna, both can be seen from the property.
Review 42:It was a bit difficult to find. If you use GPS, use coordinates instead of the street address.
Review 43:This facility is in one of the most beautiful settings I have ever seen. Below is the Mediterranean, above Mount Etna. The facility is gorgeous, the staff unparalleled, the food without equal and all at a reasonable price.
Review 44:If I really had to be picky, the locality especially coming to the place itself is quite neglected and a bit dirty. Wi-fi was a bit dodgy sometimes and the a/c works to its potential during parts of the day. These are very trivial issues which when compared to the overall stay, you'll definitely forget all this!
Review 45:Everything from the staff being super friendly and getting out of their way to make sure that all residents are comfortable and having a great time, to the lodging itself, surrounded by amazing views, with a large pool, restaurant etc. Anyways one true gem, which finally I found a place where I will definitely return!
Review 46:The hotel is at a wonderful spot with amazing views of Etna and the sea. All the members of the family running the hotel are very gentle and helpful, and all services provided are up to the standard.
Review 47:The sign might be a bit bigger of better lighted, because we missed the gate when we arrived in the evening.
Review 48:Antico Borgo Petralia was a great start for our Sicily trip. We had a spacious room, great food, there's a relaxing pool and it's located near the Etna. Also the staff is very friendly and helpfull.
Review 49:wi fi problems.
Review 50:lovely location.wonderful sara who spoke good english and couldnt do enough for us.unbelievable breakfasts taken under the warm sicilian sun.beautiful pool and hotel.to be highly recommended.would hope to return some day.
Review 51:Nicely renovated, comfortable, the view and location, breakfast buffet, great swimming pool, free wifi, friendly staff....perfect! Stayed here twice....will come back.
Review 52:If you arrive after dark, the entrance sign to the borgo is poorly lit.
Review 53:Antico Borgo Petralia is excellently run by an Italian family. They make you feel as if you stay in their home. They will do absolutely everything in their power to make you feel at home.
Review 54:Tricky to find but a GPS worked fine. Pool too cool to swim for us.
Review 55:Amazing breakfast buffet. Brilliant staff. Homemade pastries & cake. Old style welcome drink & cake. Dinner was exceptional.
Review 56:There's nothing not to like.
Review 57:This small family run hotel is perfect in everyway. The family & staff are exceptional, so helpful & friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is beautiful as are the views, which makes for a relaxing atmosphere away from the hussle & bussle. Breakfast provides a great selection, especially the home baked cakes! Dinner is also home cooked, delicious & good value. We will definitely return to this little piece of paradise.
Review 58:Wonderful place! A perfect place to relax. An oasis of calm and relaxation. Friendly, family atmosphere. Owners meet all customer needs. Clean, comfortable rooms, high speed internet, delicious, homemade breakfast and spectacular views of Mount Etna and the sea. Place which will surely come back and you do not forget.
Review 59:We stayed for four nights at this wonderful hotel and can only recommed it wholeheartedly. The owners have transformed a small hamlet into a beautiful hotel village. They have obviously poured their heart and soul into this enterprise and the attention to detail is amazing. The buildings are set in a landscaped garden with several terraces and a beautiful pool. At night you can sit on these terraces and have a grandstand view of Mount Etna spewing lava, while during the day these same terraces afford a panoramic view of the coast between Taormina and Catania. Practicalities: Your car is securely parked behind a locked gate. Your room in the village is of a good size, well-equipped and spotlessly clean. You have excellent wifi everywhere (the best we found in Sicily) and good satellite TV. The bathroom is functional and stylish. Food: The buffet breakfast caters amply for northern (savoury) and southern (sweet) tastes. Every morning there are several freshly baked cakes. For dinner you always have a choice of extremely tasty dishes, mostly with a local background and always with fresh local ingredients. There will always be one or two free tidbits thrown in. Service: On a very friendly island the Antico Borgo's staff still manage to get the friendliness award. This warm welcome has to be experienced to be believed. They are genuinely concerned to ensure you have the best time ever. And we did. All the other guests we spoke to were full of praise for this hotel. One couple had only wanted to stay two nights but ended up spending their whole holiday here. Out of the eight hotels we stayed in in Sicily this was the best. Just a wonderful experience. We will always remember sitting on the terrace, glass of wine in hand, with bats fluttering in the garden and Etna glowing high above us.
Review 60:Rooms a little small (but plenty of patio space outside). Swimming pool was very clean and well maintained but not heated.
Review 61:The location is stunning, the layout of the buildings are beautiful. The site is constructed with fine attention to detail. The beds are comfortable and the plumbing is good. The staff are a family and they make you feel at home. The food is excellent with fresh home baking every morning and a lovely homestyle meal on offer in the evenings. A perfect base to explore Etna.
Review 62:Beautiful place. Fab views. Delicious breakfast. Lovely pool. Just so sad that it wasn't not fuller as the family put so much effort into it that they deserve to have it totally full now at this time of year. Perhaps it is a little too expensive even though the rooms and bathrooms an d breakfast and gardens are impeccable. It is still only an agriturismo and perhaps people are not willing to pay that much.
Review 63:Everything was really lovely. The grounds are superb, the rooms really comfortable, the owners a real joy to meet, the food fabulous! I would happily recommend to anyone and if in Sicily again would most definitely return.
Review 64:Beautiful peaceful location, amazing view, clean and nice rooms, but not only these things made Antico Borgo one of the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The nice family has provided something special which I call SERVICE. We felt like to be in their home, where they always try to give us the best of everything. Don't miss the dinner they provide! It is really worth it! Eating home made Sicilian food, drinking local wine (the pasta and the risotto is unbeatable) in the garden with a view of the sea and Etna... WOW
Review 65:Very friendly and helpful staff, with good English. Accommodation was well presented. Location excellent (though tricky to find without a good map).
Review 66:made to feel at home, nothing too much trouble, friendly staff, good food very reasonable priced food and drink

Review 101:I like everything
Review 102:Very friendly staff
Review 103:Very friendly service, great food, fantastic views and architecture, good pool,
Review 104:It is a bit of trail from the main motorway. You need to get very detailed directions from Zefferana onwards, and to be alert or you might miss the gate. We stopped in Zefferana for lunch and got directions from tourist cabin staff that were very precise. Found gated entrance easily.
Review 105:Peaceful. High standard of accomodation and fittings. Plenty parking space and shaded. Very attentive family owners with one daughter who spoke fluent English and was efficient and charming as main contact. Family provided breakfast and dinner. Good food and very fair prices. Close to Etna and easy drive for walks.
Review 106:Very little, although there is nowhere else within walking distance to eat as an alternative.
Review 107:The family who run the hotel work made us feel very welcome, nothing was too much for them. The views are great, the gardens are well kemp, lovely and peaceful. More suited to couples, food good and a very relaxing place to be. Breakfast was good, nice to be able to sit outside.
