Reviews for Hotel The Royal Snail

Review 1:I gave a "Hot stone massage" as a present to my wife, but it was terrific, not adequate at all to the price paid for it.

Review 2:Courtesy of the staff

Review 3:There was a problem with the room that was initially assigned to us, but after a simple phone call, they gave us a different room.

Review 4:Very confortable bed. Quiet rooms. Friendly staff. Within walking distance of Namur city centre.

Review 5:a little noise from the traffic when your room is on the street side, due to a broken window lock, but no real issue

Review 6:Great value for money, friendly staff, nice little bar, nice and clean modern rooms.

Review 7:The rooms are a bit small. However, it is Europe and the location and how nicely the room was laid out make up for the size.

Review 8:Staff was extremely helpful and efficient. They knew the local area well and gave helpful suggestions for food and entertainment. Can say enough positives about the staff.

Review 9:Ridiculously small room which was overpriced. Very slow internet. Very dark corridors and room. Dangerous clear glass bathroom door which if left open could easily be walked into. Spiders and cob webs on bottoms of inward opening windows. Corridor from room to lift full of housekeeping clutter making it difficult to manoeuvre cases. Grumpy female staff member at breakfast.

Review 10:Food. Leaving.

Review 11:We booked a deluxe double room with a river view. The room was very small and very dark and the windows were covered with a white fabric that was stuck to the windows meaning you could not see out of the windows let alone see a river view

Review 12:Restaurant at the hotel was very good though it took 3 and half hours for the meal to be completed. Too long I feel.

Review 13:No cupboard space would have made it less than ideal for a long stay. The BLACK breakfast room is not the right colour to wake up with.

Review 14:Wonderful restaurant!

Review 15:- Hard matras - Small room: Around the bed you have around 70 cm on each side and thats it. No couch or chair. - Garbarge can was not emptied - Bathroom gets wet while taking shower, due to half open shower - No real swimming pool, it's more like big fish tank --> In general not worth the money

Review 16:- Friendly staff

Review 17:I'll begin by admitting that young families are probably not this hotel's target market. The restaurant and bar seemed to be highlights of the place and we didn't use them because we were travelling with a baby and only making a one night stop over on a long journey (again, I admit that this is not the kind of stay the hotel is really designed for!) Although the room was large, the shower room was a little cramped and the separate toilet seemed rather pointless when there was no wash basin in it - you had to go into the shower room afterwards anyway! I was disappointed by our 'terrace' which was really just a small rectangle forming part of a pathway that led to and overlooked the room opposite rather than the garden. It had only one chair and seemed to be almost always in shadow which I can imagine would certainly be a disadvantage for the hotel's intended market of couples hoping to enjoy a luxurious summer morning or evening. The only window that could be opened was the door to the terrace itself meaning that we couldn't leave a window ajar overnight for ventilation and had to use the airconditioning which needn't have been necessary on a fresh, damp summer night. Having to go to reception to request a wifi pin code now seems a little inconvenient and outdated these days. I might stay again but only if travelling as a couple and would certainly not pay extra for a terrace room.

Review 18:We had a large, comfortable room and enjoyed a tasty and beautifully presented meal from room service. Breakfast was likewise of good quality and offered plenty of choice. Decor was stylish and the bar and restaurant areas had genuine sense of atmosphere. Staff were friendly and very helpful, organising for an out of hours doctor to come to the hotel shortly after our arrival because our baby had been ill during the journey.

Review 19:The dinner was slightly disappointing. The sink was very small so difficult not to waste water on the floor.

Review 20:The room with balcony. The friendlyness of the staff. The location near the old town an the citadel. The breakfast.

Review 21:Pool was a bit small, balcony had not been cleaned. Asked for two seperate beds but that was not arranged (in all fairness I had made our booking without knowing if that was possible).

Review 22:Great shower with losts of water. Free parking in front of hotel. Everything nice and high quality. Castle and centre on about 1 km walking away.

Review 23:A lot of noise! In the eventing a lady above us and in the monding at 7 a clock the music of the terras. The bed was very hard.

Review 24:The hotel is very nice and clean. The staf is very kindly

Review 25:We found the hotel engaging and distinctive - but if you're looking for a gastronomic experience, check before you book. We actually had a correspondence with the hotel about its restaurant, and after seeing the enticing and exciting menus they sent us we booked a table and had high expectations - heightened by the menus we found in our room on arrival. It was only when we sat down at table that we were told these menus were not available for two months in the summer. The (much more modest) substitute menu was unambitious (steak and chips? ho-hum) - although the excellent meal that arrived was a tantalising glimpse of how brilliant the kitchen must be when it's fully functional. VERY disappointing that we weren't told we'd be missing out.

Review 26:The sheer, joyous chutzpah of advertising the stylish glass-walled swimming pool with underwater views of the bar - without mentioning that it's only slightly bigger than a bathtub.

Review 27:The wifi. Why provide it for free if it doesn't work?! I need it todo my business, and then it is important that I can rely on it - get abetter wifi provider and charge for it instead - quality is moreimportant than getting it for free! It worked every now and then but wasvery slow.

Review 28:The interior is quite cool, and the view from the hotel room is nice(river view). Not much noise from the street.

Review 29:Wifi was intermittent. Breakfast could have been more substantial for 15 Euros. Swimming pool was tiny - no hope of actually swimming.

Review 30:Good location and generally friendly staff.

Review 31:rooms were not very clean, a little bit dusty all over, in additions rooms are painted in black so this allows you to see more dust than with white. The Tv was not working properly and wifi is not very good, but ok! The worst was the service at the restaurant, they are veeery slow and not very nice to customers. It took loke 20 mins to get a bottle of water, and food was not that good either.

Review 32:The hotel is very nice, small and very well located. Rooms are ok sized. The best of the hotel was the reception person they day we areived, his name is Thierry, and he was the best of all the hotel. Very nice person, attentive and open to help in anything we needed. Despite some bad issues, it is not a bad hotel at all. It is very nice.

Review 33:Paid Breakfast could be better, for some reason block before arriving on the Bank card money, when you take out the full payment, but the money came back in a few days.

Review 34:Modern design, comfortable rooms with balconies and terraces

Review 35:Breakfast could be better for the price - €15 and nothing hot. Good selection of cold meat and cheese though. Very clean

Review 36:Staff very friendly and helpful Interior very nicely decorated Hotel very quiet even though on the main road, no traffic noise - excellent soundproofing. Location is nice, river view and 10 minutes to the city centre walking. Very clean and professional and cost less to stay here than at the Ibis the previous night :)

Review 37:Late check in. Will prefer early check in, maybe around 2pm will be great.

Review 38:I liked everything about our stay at this spectacular hotel. It's one of the best design hotels I have booked so far. The location is superb, easy to find, clean, food is great, it has got the romantic flavor and excellent customer service. It's got it all you look for when booking a first class hotel.

Review 39:None

Review 40:The room, the location, and the staff were all brilliant and really helpful. Our room (4003) was spotlessly clean, very well designed and equipped with everything we needed. Very very impressive!

Review 41:We had dinner in the restaurent.... The price did not match the quality but I think they were over busy. The same sauce seemed to appear on many different dishes

Review 42:Clean room, interesting plan of the room, minibar. Wonderful breakfast... Really well thought out. I would go back

Review 43:Room was a little bit small and cramped and the price was a little on the high side because of this.

Review 44:Good location. Good wifi. Free parking outside. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 45:It should be somewhere more interesting than Namur! But it is brilliant

Review 46:Everything. High style and haute cuisine - plus valet parking. Silliest swimming pool on earth.

Review 47:I had to pay 15 € for a Hotel car parking space. Hotel just parked my car on the street in front of the Hotel. Rooms are very small!! Wrong room assigned at check in ; not according to booking.

Review 48:The room at the front was small. If road noise bothers you may be better at the back

Review 49:The hotel is very chic and comfortable. Staff were helpful when I had a problem with my tyre. Too cold for the outside space which was a shame as this was a lovely area

Review 50:Parking was a bet hard to find if your traveling with the car.

Review 51:It was a great stay at The Royal Snail as the location was great, beautiful where we had a view on the Maas river. It was close to the city center and restaurants. Friendly staff, clean hotel as it is a design hotel.

Review 52:I'd like to have the possibility of having coffee in the room. And I think the wellness area should be included in the price.

Review 53:I liked the design and the room. Everything is very clean and new.

Review 54:- basically no choice on restaurant except their very sophisticated menu - cleaning wasn't really so good (dust on tables) - position

Review 55:-Design - helpful staff

Review 56:- breakfast area too noisy and quality average. - quite expensive for a small town like Namur.

Review 57:- very quiet room - style of the hotel - Comfort of the bed - Staff very helpful

Review 58:Just personally I didn't like waking up in a room painted black, seemed to give the day a negative feel.

Review 59:liked the individual design and quality of furniture, fixtures and fittings. So refreshing not to stay in a formulaic, predictable hotel.

Review 60:Nothing - apart from the initially offered room, which would have been uncomfortable and inconvenient. If you book, ask for one of the larger rooms - worth the extra.

Review 61:Our allocated room was very small, with little space for luggage or personal belongings. The staff were very helpful in resolving this, offering us a much larger room at a bargain price. This room was spacious, with lots of space for luggage etc, a large bathroom and separate toilet, immaculately clean and with "interesting" decor - the whole hotel is decorated in modern but artistic and tasteful dark wall and floor colours with modern art. The room opened out on to the hotel gardens, on a steep hillside with several seating and looking levels. We didn't have time to try the small pool but it looked inviting; likewise the restaurant. The location was excellent, just across a small but busy road from the River Meuse, and a short walk into the town centre which is very pretty and with a wealth of street restaurants and cafes. The Namur citadel is also very close but we would recommend driving up as its a very tough climb on foot.

Review 62:Nothing.

Review 63:Everything is great at the Royal Snail from the staff, the rooms, the amenities, food, and location. I travel to Namur frequently for business and I always stay at the Royal Snail.

Review 64:I can't fault the hotel or the service we received We didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food

Review 65:Great location, on the riverside and close to the centre Contemporary design Excellent wifi (free!) Comfortable rooms Friendly staff

Review 66:The hotel appears to have been completely redone since the photos in Booking.com were taken. The interior is black - black carpet, drapes, walls, etc. Very "goth" although I suppose it is intended to be hip and edgy. It is just dark and depressing. Not very clean. The restaurant was dreadful - micro food, little dabs of foam that were either tasteless or pure salt. The meat with the main course was OK until they added the "sauce" which was just pure salt and destroyed any inherent flavor in the meat. There is no parking.

Review 67:It is reasonably close to the Citadel.

Review 68:The pool location, you are viewable from the restaurant and bar, and the fact that the sauna is so expensive.

Review 69:The hotel was beautiful, the location was great, the staff were exceptional and the rooms are absolutely incredible, best shower and bed possible from a hotel.

Review 70:Rooms were a little too hot.
