Review 1：We had a lovely, upgraded, room, with a bath and a tea and coffee making facility. Excellent bed, followed by the biggest choice of breakfast I have ever seen. The receptionists were all very friendly and easygoing.

Review 2：The room was really old, bad and awful. The bathroom is a scandal: old, small and smelly. There is not any noise isolation and you can hear everything from the sorounding rooms. I seriously don't understand how this structure can still remain open with all the problems that has and I understand even less how it can be rated as a 4 star hotel. Part of the staff is ok but part is really rude and not welcoming at all.

Review 3：The only good thing about this hotel is the restaurant Pecora Nera. All the rest needs a serious restoration.

Review 4：The downside is that some of their rooms are absolutely horrible and not at all like their pictures. BEWARE of the "classic" rooms (particularly on the 2nd floor) that are so dated and dirty, you'll wish you had stayed home. The walls and floors are stained, scuffed and look filthy. They have a bathroom the size of a closet, with ugly old tiles. Thankfully, the receptionist was very kind and was able to find us another room that was lovely. I know times are hard, but if I owned a beautiful Grand old Hotel like this, I would not rent out a room until it was refurbished (to avoid embarrassment). No one wants to go complain about their room and no one should put a guest in that position. If they hadn't been able to find another room we would have left with our Christmas holiday ruined. As it turned out, I would love to go stay there again sometime (now that I know what to avoid). I hope the management realizes how outstanding their wait staff and reception staff are!

Review 7：Good location and great hotel however the morning scrambled egg wasn't the best, to say the least, however other food ok as for free breakfast. And staff helpful .. So would definitely forgive the chef!

Review 8：More to the point, what didn't we like. This hotel was such a surprise for us. The old world charm , the massively high ceilings, decor, and you must try the restaurant at night. We were both thoroughly impressed with the Chef's menu. Presentation was also second to none. During the meal, the owner would walk from table to table to confirm that all was fine with the food etc. We would have preferred to have a gym at the premises, but that's our thing, so not everyone would have an issue with this. Well not really an issue for us either, for that matter. The little town of Montecatini is absolutely delightful. What a gem ! We really didn't expect the place to be unique.

Review 30：Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Rosi, who took extra time to recommend places to visit during our stay and assisted us with queries prior to our arrival. Hotel made for an excellent base to explore Tuscany with easy access via train to: Florence, Lucca, Pisa and Pistoia. Also took part in coach trips to Siena and Cinque Terre. Hotel was just 2 min walk from train station. We had a superior twin room with balcony, which provided breathtakingly beautiful views of hilltop town Montecatini Alto, (I would highly recommend requesting a balcony when you make your booking.) Cannot recommend this hotel enough!! great locations, amenities and overall level of cleanliness.

Review 38：The windows are old with one single glass and they do not provide any soundproof. You can hear anything from the streets, which are very noisy until late in the night, especially in the summer. No parking. If you arrive late you will find eventually a parking place far away from the hotel. You can hear the people from other rooms when they flush the toilet or take a shower. Very bad soundproofing.

When we called the hotel excuses were made but it seems as if the hotel had forgotten the booking.They gave us a bottle of local bubbles in our room but we could have done without the stressful start to our holiday.
