Reviews for Hotel Europa
Review 1:The breakfast was very good but we missed the vegetables and the fruits.
Review 2:I liked the location of the hotel, right near the bus station, the room which had a large balcony and the hotel staff which was very helpful.
Review 3:Could be more updated. Only Italian TV. TV was impossible to turn on without owners assistance. Breakfast is ideal for pastries and sweets lovers. Would be nice to have some fruits. We lived on the second floor and it was hard to bring a luggage up without an elevator.
Review 4:Location. Cleanliness. Changed towels every day. Provided all bathroom supplies including toothbrushes.
Review 5:not suitable for 2 people room was on main road shower over toilet infested with ants checked out next morning had to pay the full weeks accommodation for all 3 rooms reserved, didn't mind paying for first night but not happy to pay for all rooms for the full stay booked disgraceful can you see if we can be reimbursed or credited with some money back but not at that hotel thanks paul flynn
Review 6:nothing
Review 7:Tragic room, tiny, dirty, noisy (like we were sleeping out in the road). Impolite staff, tiny parking for 10 euros per day. The staff were shouting between them all the time. It is an absolutely bad room to stay. It is a pity...
Review 8:Very good breakfast with many choices. Good location 5 minutes by car from the centre of Amalfi.
Review 9:Very noisy, as on the main road. Breakfast options were all sweet cakes. Room and bathroom were quite small and difficult to move around in.
Review 10:Close to the beach and the SITA stop is right outside.
Review 11:There were no lifts to bedrooms, only lots of steps. which may be a problem for slightly inferm people. Communication was difficult, as English is not spoken. However, staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Review 12:Bus outside hotel to the Amalfi coast. Easy walking to sea front on gentle slope to shops and eating venues in this delightful ancient city of Minori. Bedoom had a separate bathroom, and a balcony, and a good breakfast was included.
Review 13:Exceptional location in Minori, friendly staff , rooms with all you want, breakfast home-made , calmness in the night . Thank you, dona Narcisa Maria Giuseppa !
Review 14:Opposite to bus stop, nearby the beach. Breakfast is awesome with lots of options and good food. The lady is loud and intimidating but actually a very nice person :D
Review 15:Breakfast coffee: probably the worst I have had in Italy.
Review 16:Own balcony, plenty of hot water and towels. Very helpful manager/receptionist. Close to shops and restaurants.
Review 17:I would recommend to change the breakfast menu. There are almost only sweet and packed things in it, which I personally do not like much. But, you know for this price...
Review 18:I am so happy I stayed some days in hotel Europa. The price is really cheaper than many other hotels that I had checked. So I saved some money, but my vacations were still cool. Well, the hotel is quite old, I have to confess. But I did not care, as long as my room was clean and nice. I felt like the staff tried to do everything they could with these facilities to make the room look nice (put a magazine to read, small stuff like toothbrush, toothpaste, shaver etc., which were not used, but still it was nice). The stuff of the hotel consists of 3 people: the owner, her mum and brother. Actually his dog as well. They were nice and helpful, gave the schedule of the buses, tried to recommend something to see. Important: the bus stop is really, really close to the hotel, just in front of it. This was a strong advantage for me.
Review 19:Owner - ( in true Italian fashion ) seems like she's constantly shouting ....even thought she might not be. Her English in OK Her Mother is too old to be waiting tables and cleaning room Her brother and his dog work in the kitchen .... you get the picture!!! The place need a revamp. Can be a fantastic place if someone injected some money into this place. The shower in our bathroom was in the middle of the tiny room - water everwhere.
Review 20:Great location in Minori Good coffee Cheap
Review 21:The hotel is surround by a road and there is no noise isolation. So Its like you sleep next to the road letterly. You need earplugs or music to put down the noise.
Review 22:Location is the best! Its like 200 meters from the beach.
Review 23:Rude staff. VERY old, outdated and run down. Very small rooms. No pressure in the shower. Stupidly noisy. No air conditioning. This is low budget accomodation and nothing else.
Review 24:Plenty of breakfast selection - appealing if you like lots of cakes at 8am. Good coffee. Great location just a couple of minutes from the beach and restaurants.'
Review 25:The bathroom was dirty. The internet didn't work at all in the room as advertised, only in the lobby. The hotel is located right on a tight bend of the road and all the busses honk their horns as they approach it. There is often a build up of traffic stuck there going in opposite directions, making it a noisy spot. We paid for parking but the parking area was full, so we were informed that the car would be parked in another area down the street. Later that day we asked for the keys of the car because we had left something inside but they could not find the keys, we insisted they search for them, then they informed us that the keys were with the car and that the car was actually parked in the next town.
Review 26:There was a large selection on offer at breakfast but mainly sweet things
Review 27:great location
Review 28:great location, good breakfast, free toiletries and free aircon which was great. thank you!.
Review 29:Poor customer service and room noise with outside traffic
Review 30:The location was quite good. But the room was noise!
Review 31:Service
Review 32:Price and availability
Review 33:Staff, parking space, Horrible uncomfortable bed.
Review 34:Location, great balcony, good breakfast.
Review 35:The noisy environment- big traffic passing by.
Review 36:The location, the cheap value, the friendly though a little bit noisy attitude of the staff
Review 37:Value for money
Review 38:Noise from the street,
Review 39:Breakfast ok, some ham and cheese plus good assortment of pastries, excellent coffee
Review 40:Room, too small, bathroom small, decoration and furniture is old. Not value for money.
Review 41:Location, breakfast
Review 42:Too noisy, old window, staff don't know how to boil water to make a tea.
Review 43:Nothing.
Review 44:For this price is good but unfortunately noisy.
Review 45:Good breakfast, wide variaty, close to the shops, nice stafe
Review 46:location is pretty far from the amalfi center. u need to take the bus to there. we spent over 30 minutes to wait for the bus every single time..
Review 47:breakfast very nice. staff very nice and helpful tho they know limited english. the room is cozy. good value of money. easy to find. it is very near to the bus stop.
Review 48:the hotel Europa is well located in the hear of the Amalfi Coast, close to supermarkets, restaurants, 100 metres walk from the beach and has a bus stop right in front of the door so it's perfect for sightseeing the whole Coast.
Review 49:The owner(?) and her mother(?) had very often very loud altercationswhich sounded like verbal fights. I can't say for sure they foughtbecause I don't speak Italian but it sounded like it. Actually itwas very funny to listen to them once we got used to it..
Review 50:The location near a bus stop. It was easy to explore Minori by foot fromthe hotel. The breakfasts were very good.
Review 51:The breakfast wasnt nice-pastries and more sweet stuff, weird cereal.Staff can be a bit rude at times.
Review 52:I liked that I could change my room cuz the first one was a shoe box and the second one had a decent view and not as loud.
Review 53:The water preasure in the shower.
Review 54:The willingness of the staff to make sure that I was completely satisfied with everything. I was not able to get wifi in my room and Maria called the technician twice to have the problem fixed. The breakfast is really good: Maria's suggestions on places to see and eat were very good. We had a wonderful terrace off our room. Anytime we asked anything from the front desk, Maria was always willing to get us.
Review 55:The room was a bit grubby and not well furnished. The staff was only moderately helpful.
Review 56:The hotel is centrally located with parking. The bed was rather saggy.
Review 57:This place is great. It's got an old style that we appreciate very much. Colorful bathrooms, the breakfast area is really peculiar and stylish. I totally recommend it! Good place to stay while visiting Amalfi Coast.
Review 58:The heater is rather noisy and not heating the room evenly.
Review 59:The owner is very friendly. The breakfast is super! So many variety and the choices for cakes itself is almost mind bogging! No complanit tho for the yummy cakes.....:)
Review 60:We have no negative comment at all.
Review 61:An amazing family run hotel, offering excellent service and a breakfasttable to write home about. The hotel is within very close distance ofmajority of shops and easy to reach any area needed. The bus stop isdirectly in front of the hotel.
Review 62:We were a British group so the breakfast that dividers on cake wasn't 'to our taste - but that's really our shortcoming!
Review 63:Great location in a very interesting town thatmakes a fine location for any stay near Salerno.
Review 64:Coffee and Tea at breakfast weren't great (cold cappucino and weak tea) Hotel is situated right on a busy, noisy hairpin bend The parking area is next to the entrance on the bend and is very small with room for only 5 cars. Getting in and out of our parking spot on the bend was a little nerve-racking but the owner was adept at stopping the traffic for you.
Review 65:At first the Hotel owner comes across a little abrupt but we warmed to her. She was generally helpful and spoke reasonable English. The location in terms of locality to the beach is good (about 150-200 metres) but the hotel entrance in on a busy and noisy hairpin bend. Minori is a lovely small resort. The Family Room we had (104) was spacious and clean but very dated. The bathroom was a little small but had WC, Beday and half sized bath and a decent shower with a shower curtain. Due to the traffic noise we tended to keep the shutters and the inner wooden door closed at night.. Our room did not have air conditioning but that was our fault as we had not requested this in our booking. We did however have a fan which did help. There was plenty of choice at breakfast (yogurts, cheese, ham, bread, various cakes and pastries, juice and water. We pre-reserved a car park space for our two night stay. For what we paid it was OK as we only needed it as a base.
Review 66:All a bit chaotic with friendly but noisy and overworked lady on desk doing everything unably assisted by grandma and Grandad. Noisy setting on a corner and no Aircon but for a cheap place to stay for a night or two it was clean and good value.V limited parking and took us over an hour to get the car back from their offsite 'valet parking'
Review 67:Cheap clean rooms close to beach
Review 68:I don't even know what to begin with. The hotel was terrible, I wouldnot stay there again, even if it were for free. It's not a good valuefor the money, even if the hotel was quite cheap. The hotel staff wasnot friendly at all. The woman at the reception, who I assume was themanager, was constantly screaming at an older woman (her mother) andalso at the guests. Having breakfast there in these conditions was anabsolute nightmare. The room was less than basic, the sheets looked asthey hadn't been changed/cleaned for weeks (E.G. full of stains, hairs). The access to clothes shelves was blocked by the wardrobe, making themtotally useless. The wardrobe didn't contain any shelves so we ended upwith using the coffee table to keep our clothes. The towels were so hardthat they could hurt your skin. The WiFi did not work at all. When wereported that at the reception, we were told that they are having someproblems with it. But we stayed there for 5 nights and during thatperiod they weren't able to fix it. The sink was in the room, as thebathroom was too small to accommodate it. The bathroom very old, dirtyand there was a constant smell of sewage, which you could not ignore. The view from the terrace was scarry enough. From our room the onlything we could see was an old building we were expecting any moment tofall down. The breakfast consisted only of coffee, cereals, sweets (allkinds of cakes) and a few slices of ham and chees. And every day you hadthe same things. I noticed that if some cake was not eaten one day, theywould bring them again the next day and the other, until they werefinished. We ended up eating a sandwich on the beach instead of havingbreakfast at the hotel. Minori is not a nice resort. It is very smalland you can't do anything there. We always went to Maiori or Amalfi tohave lunch/dinner.
Review 69:By far the worst hotel I stayed in my two weeks vacation in Italy. Ifyou can afford any other hotel on the Amalfi coast, just run away fromthis one. It is extremly noisy at night with the main road going on bothsides, so it doesn't matter what room you get you will hear day andnight all the cars, motorcycles and busses passing by. Be carefull atbreakfast as we found broken drinking glasses and the next day anotherguest found dirty plates mixed with the washed ones. The hotel is familyrun and has nothing to do with any basic customer service you wouldexpect from a decent hotel. They have confirmed a room with aircondition but have been asked to pay an extra 6 euro per night when Ihave arrived. Best advice I can give you, spend the extra money and geta better hotel.
Review 70:There are only 4/5 parking places. Parking the car on the pavement withlorries and coaches passing within an inch of your car on the streets isconsidered their parking and a good parking. You have to pay anyway.Room had no air condition. Temperatures close to 40, only one fan and the only window we could open, led with the same level with a street with cars passing and horns honking. we ended up shouting to communicate. Besides we had no net to stop any insects from coming in. Room was very old. That did not bother us. However floor was dirty, my feet were black after a minute of walking within the room. Besides that within the shower had standing water below the shower carpet. On one of the walls we could see something disgusting the size 1cent euro which I have no idea what it was.. The staff must think they are the only ones with a hotel. She ran out of the building literally yelling how I should park my car on the pavement of her hotel. she must have been trying to be helpful but that is no way how to talk with people you just met.. let alone tourists at your hotel. He clothes were dirty. Moreover I asked her if I had to pay for the parking since it was on the pavement on the street and obviously she said "why not? That is my property!!" We skipped breakfast completely. So I cannot comment about the food. The price was very cheap. However I have been to other hotels which were far more decent than this for the same price. I mean I was not expecting super service, but definitely a least a clean room with a net to keep out insects... jeez
Review 71:Basically nothing! Except for the fact we had proper working wirelessinternet connection without any hassle.
Review 72:The staff's english isn't great, even though they tried to be as helpful as possible. Note that the price is not inclusive of air-con which costs an extra 6 Euros a night. Eclectic and homely design throughout the hotel.
Review 73:Great location in an old rustic town on the amalfi coast. 15 minutes from Amalfi and on the coastal bus route. You can walk to the beach in minutes. The staff gave us printed timetables of all the buses which was very useful. They have a huge selection of things for breakfast - lots of lovely local cakes and Italian coffee. Each room has it's own balcony where you can sit out and look across the town. Not luxury but excellent value for money. Eclectic and homely design throughout the hotel.
Review 74:They put off the free Wifi fairly late in the night ,but same isavailable by 7.30 am for the whole day.
Review 75:Maria is incredibly friendly and helpful. For the price you pay, thehotel provides you with almost 5 star amenities. We stayed as a couplein a room which could house 4 people. The geometry of the room and theattached bath was not the best--however it was clean and had everythingyou could reasonably expect with a big balcony thrown in.The best thingabout the hotel is that it is right next to the sita bus stop--so takingpublic transport is like taking a Taxi. The breakfast spread is huge bycontinental standards and Maria's mother makes sure you start the daywith a full stomach. All in all,you cannot do better.
Review 76:I really don't like having to write negative comments but I think it is important people are informed - especially families and non-smokers.Immediately on entry to the hotel we were overwhelmed by the smell of smoke - family members of the owner smoke inside the lounge which is immediately to the right of the reception and through which you must pass to enter the external steps to the rooms. On the other side of the reception is the breakfast area so the smell of smoke filters across. Our family with two teenage children (12 and 17) stayed in the smallest quadruple room I think we will ever see again - luggage had to be stored on top of the wardrobe and the table - or outside on the balcony - there was quite literally not enough room to 'swing a cat' and the comfort factor of beds was average at best (linen was clean). The bathroom was old and the shower in the middle of the toilet and bidet was impossible not to overflow. These things can be overlooked if you are on a budget but the total turnoff was the putrid smell of stale smoke combined with the strong perfumed electric deodoriser used to mask the smell - it quite frankly made us all feel sick - and we were locked in to enduring this for two nights! What was interesting was we requested a non-smoking room - and there were non-smoking signs in the hallways and yet there were two ashtrays on the small table in our room???? I note many comment on the 'amazing' breakfast and on first glance it looks impressive but it had us wondering what on earth they do with the huge amounts of cakes, pastries, meats, cheeses, etc when it seemed we were the only people in the place to eat them - it was not possible for the food to be fresh and for this reason we stuck to what we could eat from a packet on the first day and left without breakfast on the second. In addition the coffee was below average (and it's rare to get bad coffee in Italy) - and if you like milk - go without or have black.
Review 77:Contrary to so many reviews I did not find the noise a problem - and I am a very light sleeper - this perhaps could be attributed to the fact we stayed off-peak - early January. We stayed on the first level in a quadruple room. The owner (?) was very helpful with tour information and assisting us with locating our credit card we had left in an internet cafe - her English was good - and other staff (family members?) were friendly. Small parking area for maximum four vehicles (so book ahead) - we had a nine seater so it was difficult to fit but we managed - cost for parking is 10 euros per day which in retrospect is probably not bad considering how difficult it is to park anywhere on the Amalfi Coast. Location was good and I'm sure a lot cheaper than in Amalfi/Positano however....and here I'm afraid comes the negatives....
Review 78:The room was basic, Paid car parking but was not obvious at time ofbooking. Small rooms... Shower shocking as the nozzle had to behand held.
Review 79:Location and breakfast
Review 80:Location is excellent. Just a few metres away from beach and from main attractions. Excellent location to visit rest of Amalfi coast. Breakfast was great and had wide selection. Room was with large balcony from which beach can be seen. The owner was very helpful and made sure we had a nice stay. Unfortunately we just stayed for a night but will surely visit again in September. Also it has parking which is quite limited in the area. I surely reccommend this hotel. Good value for money.
Review 81:BUS to amalfi always full. sometimes it doesnt even stop
Review 82:The hotel building is nice and the staff is great.
Review 83:Too noisy.
Review 84:Convinient traffic
Review 85:not convenient to attractions
Review 86:not fa from beach, near the wery beautiful plases, good beach, kind people, freandly atmosfear.
Review 87:Unfriendly staff
Review 88:Good location
Review 89:I would suggest they change the sheets in the bed half-way through the week
Review 90:good location, friendly staff, good quality breakfast
Review 91:It was literally 20 m from bus stop and was cheap. Also breakfast was yummy (a lot of cakes :)) and big considering the price.
Review 92:Friendly Staff, clean, low price and cool neighborhood!!
