Reviews for Grand Hotel & La Pace Spa

Review 1:Interior "spa" is a joke with one pool and one steam sauna. It was shocking to see a young couple at the breakfast table with their own brought cereal and squezzed juices. But soon we realized what was it for: Breakfast was disappointing with cheap juices, tasteless omelette, and also with low budget cold cuts.

Review 2:Nice room. Nice building.

Review 3:Waiter charging us 8 euro for small dish of fruit on top of 10 euro at small salad bar as it was not clear fruit wasn't included in salad bar at restaurant lunch poolside. Also waiter was very unfriendly. Also man at desk gave us wrong info as to hours of thermal baths. We walked over there but they were closed. A front desk person should have hours for services town is famous for.

Review 4:Comfy beds. Nice pool.

Review 5:Well we stayed there for our year anniversary, the night staff Maurizio had absolutely no class and was a horrible little man with no clue how to do his job it was sad to see him represent such a place that we had so much expectation as we arrived at the hotel that we thought they would have offered a much more memorable time for us,,we will never return and warn anybody to not expect the same as some of the other famous hotels have to offer at this one,and the hotel is locked down in traffic limit zone all around the hotel with big fines that come with them "that's the Italian way"as Maurizio explained it

Review 6:Well stayed there for our one year mariage, the night staff Maurizio had absolutely no class and was a horrible little man with no clue how to do his job it was sad to see him represent such a place that we had so much expectation as we arrived at the hotel that we thought they would have offered a much more memorable time for us ,,we will never return and warn anybody to not expect the same as some of the other famous hotels have to offer at this one,and the hotel is locked down in traffic limit zone all around the hotel with big fines that come with them "thats the Italian way"

Review 7:Spa opens late and close early, so you have to choose stay in hotel for spa or going out. The last chance to go to spa is 6 pm.

Review 8:Good breakfast, perfect location and elegant ancient hotel. 5-star for sure.

Review 9:Wifi very slow

Review 10:Location location. This trendy hotel has been operating for over 100 years in this beautiful town. Rooms are large and comfortable beds. The piano at the lobby in the evening is a plus. Bellinis cocktails are delicious and served with great snacks. Breakfast plenty and free parking.

Review 11:This is more like a 3* - very tired in decor. Pool area needs keeping tidier as grass overgrown and looking rather shabby. Breakfast was not very good either, not much choice - big basket of croissants or bread that was handled by everyone. Felt like we were stuck in time back in 1930s. The bed was really uncomfortable and rolled in to the middle.

Review 12:Large rooms, the location was excellent as just 5 mins walk to train station to get to Florence / Lucca etc. Lovely bath towels.

Review 13:The prices of the drink and the food at the pool were too expensive, €7 for a bottle of peroni was too much! So we tended not to drink and eat by the pool but headed off to somewhere more reasonable.

Review 14:Loved the room, the Staff were excellent and the pool divine. We really enjoyed our stay in the hotel and would certainly recommend our friends to stay too!

Review 15:The SPA is good and well kept but too small for this hotel.

Review 16:The unique old style, Art Nouveau (Liberty) style, the old style room, wooden floor, upholstery. One room different to the other. The garden and park.

Review 17:Dated, shower over the bath leaked badly as screen was too small. Bar atpool closed at 5.30pm and served no snacks during the day only a buffetwhich started at 25 Euros for a salad buffet!

Review 18:The staff were very helpful. Parking facility. Central location.

Review 19:It has been 20 years since I last stayed there and very little has been done in terms of maintenance and upkeep. Very disappointing experience.

Review 20:The luncheon buffet out by the pool was quite good in terms of the quality of food as well as the selection of items.

Review 21:can not do your own irnning in the room , we have an irn but the voltage of the electrcity is very bad that every time the power is off in the room,

Review 22:the city and the hotel location is good

Review 23:Everything is perfect

Review 24:Outstanding property. Colonial Royal.

Review 25:Rooms where dated and in need of refurb

Review 26:Air conditioning in room very poor. Gym did not open until 10 am which is far too late. Need mossie spray.

Review 27:Good location and pool

Review 28:Location,big rooms, very clean, big near attraction and restaurants

Review 29:Very slow service at breakfast

Review 30:Good room service

Review 31:House keeping

Review 32:Spa menu

Review 33:the friendliness and help from the front desk

Review 34:Everything's a bit old fashioned - except the spa which is new, but pricey

Review 35:It was good 20-30 years ago, and has been updated - but not enough.

Review 36:Location , big garden , big swiming pool

Review 37:The spa - Staff very frosty, you have to arrive wearing your dressinggown from your room (this meant a walk of shame through the restaurantfor us!) after I had been in the steam room, the 2 therapy showers whereimpossible to turn on....i then noticed no towels. When I asked for atowel I was told I should have bought it from my room? I am standingthere dripping and starting to shiver, I explain I havent got my toweland do not want a facial in a soaking swimsuit so after a 5-10minutewait I got a towel and charged me 5 euros for it! 90 euros for atreatment and charged for a towel! Treatments 'O.k' but you willbe left for 10 minutes or whatever your treatment requires rather thanthe therapist using the time for a head or hand massage etc. some of therooms are brightly lit? Shame, some serious training and customer carerequired in this area. The couple who left ahead of me, dripped throughthe hotel in soaking wet dressing gowns and wet slippers leavingfootprints....It's actually quite funny writting this, it was like afaulty towers spa.

Review 38:Reception staff amazing, fabulous recommendations, incrediblyhelpful and efficient . Warm and friendly. The hotel has a fadedglory charm about it.

Review 39:The hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment and a well executed refreshment. Granted attempts have been made to modernise but it does not balance well. Im sure the hotel would have been cool in the 50's and 60's but overall it left me cold. 5 star rating probably from the 60's. Breakfast was 2 - 3 star quality.

Review 40:Newly renovated bathrooms. Location.

Review 41:not enough loungers around pool, indoor/spa area only accessible at extra cost and when prebooked

Review 42:interconnecting rooms offered instead of quadruple room pianobar, nice cocktails, also alcohol-free, breakfast in patio area

Review 43:Air conditioning could be a bit more effective. The hotel is still using the box on the floor on the floor. Maybe the units against wall might work better. It gets very hot in Montecatini

Review 44:The most friendly reception and the real interest even while very busy to make sure one get what u want

Review 45:There were some groups, some of them were too noisy at public areas. Would appreciate more variety at breakfast (everyday all the same). Coffee was not always good.

Review 46:Wonderful staff, Sergio, Irina and whole team are doing their best to ensure guests are fine. We had very spacious standard room, yes it looks old but very charming, ceilings are very high, a bit of tiny repair and they could sell it as junior suit!

Review 47:The breakfast was very average. The orange juice was certainly not freshand the choice was quite limited but of reasonable standard. The indoor swimming pool is small and one can not go for a swim spontaneously, since it has to be pre-booked. The pool opening hours 11-19 hrs are quite restrictive. The room was quite noisy-noise from bottles being put into recycling skips, kids hanging around outside with motorbikes being revved up.

Review 48:The room had great views and balconies, even the bathroom had a greatview. It was spacious and very clean. What really makes this hotel arecertainly not the facilities or the food, but the excellent staff whowere helpful friendly and exceeded all my expectations. Especially thereception staff were an absolute joy and made many helpful suggestionsfor destinations of interest.

Review 49:Refined and understated luxury which brings to mind a byegone era. Webooked very late - actually on the day we wanted to stay as we did notlike the orignal hotel we had booked and decide to change. What ablessing that we did as we might not othewise have experienced thischarming place. Breakfast was excellent and the poolside lunch superb. We didn't have time to experience the spa treatments as we were onlythere two nights but we will definitely return to do so.

Review 50:Old hotel + Old fashion service + Poor quality swimming pool + Not enough lighting + The Worst experience it is a Fungus bath curtain (like it never been clean a year) and very tiny bath room + old furniture and not charming hotel at all. This hotel need 100000% renovation. I would not reccommend anyone to be there. NEVER Again for my opinion

Review 51:I didn't like the pillows- very thin and hard. But the main thing is avery high audibility. Because of very thin & I believe wooden wallsbetween the rooms you hear tv and even your neighbours conversation!

Review 52:The location is wonderful and certainly the fact the hotel was builtseveral centures ago impresses. The food was very delicious and theservice was excellent. The park around the hotel is also very good.

Review 53:Everything

Review 54:Gave us great experience ! Especially we can take outside breakfast and Montecatini area is very beautiful .

Review 55:The hotel needs a make over
