Reviews for Hotel Metropolitan Nagano
Review 1:Nothing!
Review 2:Located just near to Nagano station (station + shopping center + cafe/starbucks/groceries). Perfect then to travel around Nagano. You need though a 20-30 min walk to the Zenko-ji shrine (bus available). The room was clean, and quite big compared with other Japanese hotel room! I haven't tried the breakfast nor the restaurants in the hotel building...look a bit expensive to my mind.
Review 3:If you're travelling by train you can't beat the location as the hotel is effectively part of the railway station. We were able to enjoy a quick snack and sake in the beautiful food court that is between the hotel and the rail lines. Loved the welcoming foyer. Loved the fact that buses to the snow were a matter of meters from hotel.
Review 4:- No aircon during winter. Rooms were too warm for us, and to cool it down we needed to open the windows - which was ok in the day time but not when we were sleeping because it was right next to the train tracks and you will hear trains pulling in and going off + the announcements. - no English TV channels - pay TV: the TV remote controls had 2 buttons for changing channels. One of which was for pay TV. I accidentally turned the channel using the pay TV button and there was porn on the TV! Fortunately my son wasn't watching and I turned off the TV very quickly
Review 5:+ Large Size of room by Japanese standards + Sound proof: hotel is right next to the train station but with the windows closed you cannot hear any sounds + Transport Hub: JR Commuter Rail, Shinkansen (bullet train) and the subway. Just walk through the Midori Mall to reach the station without getting outdoors + Restaurants / Eateries: lots of eating places within the station or just across the road from the station + Shopping: Right next to Midori which has a supermarket on the basement, a food hall on level 2. It also houses Muji and Tokyu Hands. Across the road is the Tokyu Department Store; and a 5 min walk will bring you to a large supermarket called Seiyu + Tourist Information: very helpful tourist information is located on the 2nd floor of the JR Station. They speak English and have adequate brochures in English. (Do also ask for the free wifi password)
Review 6:everything was great ! Excellent staff , Delicious restaurants on site, and literally next to the station perfect for anyone traveling around Nagano for the first time . Centrally located near zenkoji temple and perfect for easy access to the snow monkeys via the express bus or dentetsu line from Nagano station (≧∇≦)
Review 7:Sticky about check-in time, we reached at 2.30pm but front desk insisted check-in only after 3pm. No bottled bottle available in room.
Review 8:It is well connected to Nagano JR Station. Exit the JR, go to the right side and look for the Midori (Shopping Area) entrance, go through the entrance and it will lead you to 2nd floor of the hotel. Front desk is at the 1st floor escalator/elevator down. Room and toilet is very clean. Front desk staff can speak good English, very helpful and polite.
Review 9:Check in at 3 pm is too late especially for family with young children.
Review 10:Location, staff is helpful, friendly, breakfast is very good, room is comfortable.
Review 11:I always choose to stay at the Hotel Metropolitan when in Nagano! It is difficult to fault ... the location is perfect especially in bad weather as you have direct access from the train station via a food hall and the rooms are spacious, extremely clean, comfortable and very well maintained. Staff are always very helpful and will go the 'extra mile' to ensure your questions are answered and your stay is as perfect as it can be. Breakfast is also very good! To be honest, I am already looking forward to my next visit to Nagano!
Review 12:Check in time was strictly 3pm
Review 13:It's by the nagano station and is very convenient for food, shopping and supermarket. They also have a washing machine
Review 14:Hotel a little dated. But it's extremely well maintained. No signs of it being old and overused.
Review 15:Bigger than average Jap hotel room. Excellent location.
Review 16:I wish there is coffee in the room. There is tea bag, though.
Review 17:The location! It is right next to the Nagano station. Breakfast is very good for Japan 4-star standard.
Review 18:The smoking room was really bad. I hope they ban smoking in the rooms and have a area for smokers. I have slept in smoking rooms before. This is the worst odor.
Review 19:The breakfast is excellent. The Hotel is very accessible from JR Station.
Review 20:No bad experiences
Review 21:The location almost within the station was brilliant. No dragging suitcases through streets! And as we wanted to travel to areas close to but outside Nagano it was super convenient
Review 22:none
Review 23:location was excellent, the staff top the service, they were really nice, smelly and we felt always welcomed. The breakfast offered big variety to choose, all were wonderful.
Review 24:Room was ok, \nothing real special, but clean and totally ok for our one night. Food in their Chinese Restaurant was good, but pretty pricey, since the Restaurants in the Station were really good and less money...
Review 25:Great location, Hotel is actually connected to the Station, which has stores and Restaurants. Hotel is huge, with tons of facilities and a great little cafeteria.
Review 26:Hotel was located next to train station and close to many shops. Perfectly located for travelers. Room was comfortable and large. Bathroom was really nice and staff were helpful and really friendly
Review 27:The hotel is attached to the train stattion. We used our time to explore around the area and it wwas so easy to board the trains from our hotel. The rooms are clean and the staff are excellent.
Review 28:perfect location near to station that will take you everywhere with local trains/shinkansen/jr line, great staff, lovely neighbourhood filled with great restraurants and bars
Review 29:Restaurant closes at 9pm and not open until 6 am I arrived 9:30pm andleft at 6am, not the hotels fault though.
Review 30:Large room for Japan would meet specifications for a us Hotel room.Right next to jr Station, 1 block.
Review 31:We would have preferred the two rooms on our booking to have been on the same floor and one room wasn't ready when we came back well after the allocated check-in time of 3pm
Review 32:Connected to the JR Station so very convenient if you are using a Rail Pass. There are a lot of places to eat nearby and it is a short walk to Zenkoji Temple. The rooms were a good size, clean and comfortable. They gladly looked after our luggage until we could check-in.
Review 33:This hotel was next to the JR train station. The front desk lent us umbrellas and held our luggage until check-in time. We were treated very well by the staff. The beds were great. It was clean
Review 34:The location was perfect! Right next to the train station, close to restaurants, shopping and a direct leisurely stroll to the famous Zenkoji Temple. The staff were extremely attentive and many spoke flawless English.
Review 35:Nothing at this time...
Review 36:Excellent breakfast, very professional services, nice entrance hall, very helpful staff, great location for trips (rail/bus station, shopping next door)
Review 37:noisy atmosphere when window opened (tracks are right underneath the hotel windows) Japanese breakfast ok, western style dishes very poor!
Review 38:Very comfortable bed, but n
Review 39:None
Review 40:perfect location. just next to JR Station and there are MIDORI and Tokyu Dept store nearby. The price is also very reasonable. Highly recommend this hotel.
Review 41:Smoking floor smelt pretty bad, I know I booked a smoking room(due to availability) but it def impacted the feeling of cleanliness
Review 42:Great spot and fairly good size room.
Review 43:I can't fault this hotel. The location was great, we'd travelled from Hokkaido overnight and much of the day so being able to walk straight into the hotel without going outdoors was a bonus. The staff were exceptional, access to CNN was most welcome and the restaurants were great for dinner.
Review 44:room on smaller side compare to US. Good enough for 1 night stay.
Review 45:Good value for the money. Convenient location. Next to train station. Beck's cafe in the station has $3 breakfast. Ideal for the first/last day of a skiing trip.
Review 46:Nothing.
Review 47:Lovely hotel. Very friendly staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. Ideal location right beside rail, bus and taxis. Lovely walk through town to Zenkoji Temple. Good local bus service.
Review 48:Confusing definition of room charge - says Double room BUT with single occupancy. Better to call it a Single room. I was made to pay an extra surcharge for the additional person and hence the price was misleading
Review 49:Gd location
Review 50:We only stayed for one night en route to Nozawa Onsen but that made this hotel's location ideal as it was a short stroll (1 minute!) from the train station. The room was clean, elegant and spacious and very good value for money when you consider how much a similar hotel would cost in larger cities like Tokyo. The mattress was on the firm side which we liked.
Review 51:No wi-fi! :( The hotel felt a little dated and could use an update/renovation. We looked at the restaurant in the hotel but everything seemed too overpriced. Skip the video on demand card as it only offers what's playing on three low-quality channels. There wasn't much to do in Nagano compared to other cities, since we didn't come for the winter sports.
Review 52:The best thing about this hotel was the great location, right next to Nagano Station. The attached winery shop offered lots of free samples of crackers and dips, and we picked up some soba in familiar shapes (rotini, fettucine, etc.). The hotel is within comfortable walking distance of a whole host of restaurants, izakaya, and shopping (including some of my favorite secondhand stores--Hard Off, Book Off, and Mode Off).
Review 53:I will hightly recommended this hotel if for short stay in Nagano, thehotel is just next of the Nagano jr station, & there are a lot ofchoices for eating & shopping, etc. Staff of the hotel are very nice& helpful, even they are not speak fluent english, they tried theirbest to help & comfort the hotel guests. Rooms are big enough, sospacious under such resonable price. Highly recommended !
Review 54:I wish they would have the onsen.
Review 55:The location is great - just a short walk from Nagano station. The room and bed is comfortable and spacious. The amenities in the bathroom are well provided.
Review 56:The hotel does not have a direct link with the JR Nagano Station.
Review 57:It was quite comfortable in the room. It is located near the JR Nagano Station, and within walking distance of many restaurants.
Review 58:Excellent position next to railway station. Old style hotel with large rooms, good size bedroom, but extremely hard bed (no pillow top mattresses here!). Can walk easily to temple, restaurants etc even in heav snow.
Review 59:The bed is a bit hard (for Western standards) and they only give you one tiny, flat pillow per person. Oh! And just so you know: if you're traveling with children, don't let them touch the TV. The first channel is an old infomercial kinda thing about the area: very nice, very informative. The other channels? Porn. Porn at 3 PM in the afternoon. Be warned.
Review 60:The location is perfect! The cleaning staff was great and the amenities were lovely. The place is really nice!
Review 61:Nothing
Review 62:I knew the hotel was close to the station but didn't expect it to be only a stores throw away. Loved the value for money and the lovely lady at the reception who helped me get to the Zenkō-ji temple at the last moment. In the morning I left my luggage with the reception and when I got back I wanted to get to the temple before it closed. I told her I was trying to get a taxi to the temple but was not able to. When I told her I was not sure id make it in time to the temple to get my Shuin-Cho ( stamp book) stamp, she called the temple for me on her own initiative and asked for the closing time. I thought it would close at 16:00 hours but because she called I found out that it would close at 16:15. After that she called a taxi and thanks to her I made it in time.
Review 63:In room TV has/broadcast both English and Japanese on the news channels at the SAME TIME, I wish we could select one or the other. News is important for people away from home.
Review 64:Location, Breakfast, Room cleanliness
Review 65:No wifi in the room, just in the hall. The TV doesn't have a lot channels, in fact just three.
Review 66:It's really close. Just next to the building of the JR station, so it's really convenient. Another thing really impressed me is the crew speaks very good English. The room is 20 square meter large as Japanese standard.
Review 67:No time to have breakfast
Review 68:Comfortable, cozy bed.Felt like I am staying at resort hotel although I visited for biz trip. Will come back again.Hospitality smile also made me relaxed.
Review 69:There was nothing not to like. There was a notice about night works at the station which did concern us but we were not affected.
Review 70:Immediately outside of the station. Great when arriving with luggage. Nearby many restaurants and close to the bus stop as well.
Review 71:perfect location!
Review 72:None.
Review 73:Just beside JR station and bus stops.
