Reviews for Il Vicolo Della Neve B&B
Review 1:Ok, it was New Year's Eve and we booked very last minute, so prices were a bit up!
Review 2:The location, the room decor, the balcony overlooking the central pedestrian road... We simply loved everything!
Review 3:A bit loud for sleeping due to noise outside.
Review 4:Wonderful room. Breakfast was brought to the room during requested time in morning. Very close to shopping, restaurants, water, ferry & walkable to train.
Review 5:The tight narrow stairs were scary initially but we got used to it after awhile
Review 6:We were on our honeymoon. The location was superb. Close to restaurants and harbour
Review 7:Noise from peoples at late night, may be not often. The way to B&B is so bumpy for luggage, try the road near the shore.
Review 8:Room is spacious and clean up everyday, location is good. The resturant recommended is too good!
Review 9:Se got the room that is right beside the reception and it was noisy all the night and in the morning. Tha towels looked like bedsheets, but that was no big deal.
Review 10:Cleaning, appearence of the room, breakfast, cortesy of the staff. Prole were really nice and the room was fantastic!
Review 11:Firm mattress. But with enough wine it doesnt matter ;) Also we found this to be a common theme throughout many places we stayed in Italy
Review 12:Perfect location. Lovely hosts and super helpful! Great stay for two honeymooners on foot, looking for a comfortable clean romantic spot, with excellent and delicious breakfast! Thanks so much!!!
Review 13:Parking is not at the hotel, which is in a pedestrian street. You'll have to carry your luggage for a while through ancient narrow streets.
Review 14:location
Review 15:In the weekend the nearby restaurants may get very noisy until late in the night....
Review 16:The apartment is very nice. The area is very good; apartment is within walking distance to the train station and it's in pleasant shopping area. Salerno is beautiful and offers a great base to explore Amalfi coast. Paula - the person in charge- is very nice and so is the boy who helps with the luggage and the cleaning. We definitely recommend Salerno and this apartment.
Review 17:I loved the location as we used it as a launching pad for our trip around the Amalfi coast. I enjoyed taking ferries rather than driving (nearly impossible for non-Italians; taking busses is a heart attack waiting to happen). It was CLEAN and small. VERY modern room- quite hip.
Review 18:The place isn't easy at all to find. We were located in a separate building and there was no possibility of having breakfast, even at an extra charge...
Review 19:staircase impossible for people with walking difficulties. steps are approx 8" high and 8" deep. had to leave the place and look for other accomodation.
Review 20:My single room was too narrow, no cupboard, and the bathroom too - too narrow. The worse thing is the many stip stairs - we left the hotel after some nights and moved to anothe - suffered from the steps
Review 21:the locations if great, the staff is very freindly
Review 22:No lift and steep, narrow stairs to the rooms. Nothing owners can do about this but worth considering if mobility is an issue.
Review 23:Good wifi and excellent shower. Helpful staff and very clean rooms. Do yourself a favour and try a meal at "
Review 24:They said that checkout is at 10 am but they kicked us out about 9 a.m. We came back from a morning walk about 9:15 a.m. and our luggage was outside and they said we cannot use the room as it is already clean....
Review 25:Very steep stair access. Incorrect info on website re:"Private parking on-site". This is incorrect. Parking is NOT possible on-site. You are advertising incorrect info on your website. * Internet wouldn't work on arrival. Required significant (& willing) staff input to get it to work. No cold cuts available at b'fast.
Review 26:Interior design taste.
Review 27:The host and the service are very great! And this hotel also has free wi-fi and nice breakfast. It's not too far to the train and bus station, quite convenient~
Review 28:There appeared to be mold on the ceilings and walls of the bathroom, the stairs were very narrow and steep so if you are older may not be the best choice abs we prefer to go down for breakfast when it is convenient for us and not have to choose what we want to eat and at what time the day before.
Review 29:The location was very good the room was a good size and was well appointed and clean.
Review 30:The stairs leading up to the room were very steep. But the staff helped carrying the luggage though.
Review 31:The staff was very polite and helpful. The room and the bathroom had a tasteful design. One could have extra coffee or tea in the lobby. The fairly simple but sufficient breakfast was served in the room.
Review 32:Really steep stairs. However they did take the luggage up thank goodness.
Review 33:Lovely room. Very nice staff. In a good location in the old section of the city.
Review 34:Although the rooms are very comfortable, you hear quite a bit of noise from the street. This could be a problem if you are a light sleeper.
Review 35:Very nice b&b with comfortable rooms, very friendly staff and an ideal location for visiting the Amalfi coast, Capri and Salerno.
Review 36:The bad was the stairs you had to climb to get up to accomodation The ugly was the outside noise from the street below that went on All night .The people are very loud.
Review 37:Staff and accomodation we're very good .i give them a five star.
Review 38:No pick up service from train station and it's a very long walk with all your luggage and no bar fridge in the room.
Review 39:Loved the spacious room and breakfast brought to your room every morning bang on time. Helpful staff & great location for restaurants and bars.
Review 40:We stayed at this hotel on our return from honeymoon. We choosed it upon the location & great reviews. They certainly werent lying. It was the perfect spot if you are on foot. Justt 4mins in taxi from the port, or 15 min of pleasant walking (from the port). It's situated just around the corner of the main pedestrian street of city centre. Plenty of shops & restaurants around. Typical Italian & a very helpful staff. They made a research for us on train trips and had a solution for everything. Also the complimentary breakfast had several choices you could make from a list since a night before, with a room service. Very clean and super comfy.
Review 41:dont take room No.1, you hear every word spoken at the reception and any coffee taken from the coffee machine. This experience unfortunately although I asked (asked for already at the booking) for a quiete room. Not for people with walking disability as there are many narrow steps and no lift
Review 42:very friendly, beautiful room and bathroom, directly in the center in pedestrian walking zone
Review 43:Yes our breakfast very nice and delivered to our room!
Review 44:very helpful staff...room and accommodation very clean and comfortable....and the breakfast is first class brought to the room....excellent !
Review 45:The B&B features a very central though noisy position. The area is full of typical shops and restaurants
Review 46:No breakfast
Review 47:Almost everything
Review 48:Very Clean and neat. Excellent location.
Review 49:The Manager spoke English very well and was extremely friendly and helpful. She helped a lot to make our stay very enjoyable.
Review 50:Very steep stairs
Review 51:Lovely room and bathroom. Friendly, helpful hosts
Review 52:Nothing.
Review 53:Very very nice bathroom and really new, comfortable room. We had nothing to complain about.
Review 54:The stairs to the top floor and noisy at night
Review 55:The room had a balcony, big bathroom with a good shower, breakfast in the room.
Review 56:-nothing
Review 57:-clean -stuff speaks English! That is superpower in Intaly -good breakfast
Review 58:Location, design of the rooms
Review 59:all was ok
Review 60:the location was perfect, very close to the train station and local shops.
Review 61:The rooms were beautiful and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was brought to the door upon your request and the food was great, better than any breakfast we ate at any restaurant.
Review 62:Quality of the bed
Review 63:Staff was very helpfull and understanding of ones needs regarding restaurants, swimming areas, transport etc. Nice interior / shower / bathroom.
Review 64:The only negative is the noise. You have not only some street noise but also noise from the reception. I was in room 1 (right next to reception) and you could hear every word. Reception closes at 8pm so that noise is not a problem at sleep time. The street noise is worst on Friday and Saturday nights. Maybe an investment in double glazing may improve things. It shouldn't stop you from coming, just be aware of it especially if you are a light sleeper. A minor annoyance was the WiFi only worked in certain sections of the room and could drop the connection at times.
Review 65:This B&B is superbly located to explore Herculaneum & Mt Vesuvius, Amalfi/Positano/Sorrento, Pompeii, Naples, Capri and of course Salerno. The B&B is about a 20 minute walk from the train station (straight down the main street) - also where you catch the Sita bus to Amalfi, 10 minutes from the Ferry to Capri, 2 minutes from the waterfront and amongst lots of restaurants. Beware that Google does show the B&B in slightly the wrong place but it's not far off. The room was secure, spacious, very clean and well presented. The room included a flat screen tv (not that it was used) as well as free wifi. A basic breakfast is provided (from a set menu) and served in your room. The staff were excellent. Hernani (Nani for short) in the mornings and Annapoala in the evenings were both fantastic. Both always friendly and always helpful.
Review 66:There was nothing not to like!
Review 67:All the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. We could help ourselves to water, coffee, etc whenever we wanted. The location is excellent, in the heart of the old city, and there are some excellent restaurants nearby.
Review 68:Our stay was exceptional. The room was comfortable and spotless and the staff was welcoming and very helpful. We loved having breakfast delivered to our room. We would definitely stay there again.
Review 69:Experienced some issues with laptop internet connection which had not occurred elsewhere. No issues with tablet wifi. Street noise on Friday & Sat nights was excessive.
Review 70:Room was excellent, Annapaola was very friendly & helpful. Nany did a great job keeping the room clean and delivered breakfast right on time in the mornings.
Review 71:The shower was in the bedroom and not near the toilet/sink. Not a problem, just an unusual setup.
Review 72:We enjoyed our time at Il Vicolo Della Neve. We were in a separate building than the main B&B with self-catering breakfast. The wifi wasn't great, but otherwise we really liked it. Breakfast was typical Italian breakfast (croissant, sweets, yogurt, bread). They had a coffee machine that you could use whenever which was nice. The room was really comfortable and large. Annapaola was extremely nice and very helpful. The location was right in the city center.
Review 73:Weekend evenings when the locals are out on the town can be loud, but i slept right through it. Room can be cool in winter, so bring warm pajamas. Steep interior stairs not for disabled/elderly. However all three items really do add to authentic charm.
Review 74:Located in the old part of town, on winding footpaths, and near the water, this is a great location to explore a less touristy experience in italy. Staff was very nice.
Review 75:PARKING! We were there right after Christmas, the town was packed so there was NO easy-to-find parking. While the hotel provided a map ahead of time, it was not clear so even with two excellent navigators, we couldn't find the parking. If you're driving in, call the hotel and set a time/place to meet up with someone from the hotel who can get you to the garage.
Review 76:The location is incredible, the room was fresh and modern with a comfortable bed and a huge bathroom (and Eco friendly toiletries), the breakfast was just right and delivered to our room on time, and the staff was extremely helpful (thank you again Lucia!).
Review 77:ATTention art history/ archaeology visitors: my sole purpose in traveling south was to visit the temples at Paestum. I stayed in Salerno on the advice of a popular travel guide, but will opt for a location closer to the site next trip. Brkfst: coffee is from a machine, pastry maybe from a bag, juice a processed sugary bev. Healthy-types better off foraging for self!.
Review 78:I arrived at 2.30 a.m. after an 8-hr train delay from Roma; staff kept in touch w/ my progress by ph, greeted me in street as I arrived, hauled my suitcase up steep flts of stairs. "Cute, clean, and a sweet mattress," are my priorities and all three were satisfied. My tiny dog (2.5 kgs) was welcome w/out extra charge. Salerno is a city of neighborhoods, and local restaurants/bars were good references.
Review 79:The location will sometimes be noisy in the evenings (not traffic, just people passing by) as the hotel is in the pedestrianised area, so very central, but this is also part of the charm and definitely to be experienced.
Review 80:Location right in the heart of the old town was excellent for sightseeing and absorbing the atmosphere - also for seeing the wonderful Christmas lights, which were everywhere, even down the narrow lane leading to this hotel! The staff were very helpful and polite. There is no dining room so breakfast (which you have chosen the night before) is brought to your room, very relaxing. The room was clean and the shower was excellent.
Review 81:Might be a bit noisy if you get the room next to reception (but reception closes at 8 pm)
Review 82:Good location in the old part of Salerno, close to the Duomo. Good space with clean/big bathroom. Tasty breakfast - at check-in time you select what food you want for breakfast the next day (sandwiches are present not just croissants)
Review 83:A little noisy at night from the street but not complaining as that's to be expected with the location.
Review 84:The showers were the best showers I've experienced in any hotel! Very clean and comfortable.
Review 85:Very friendly staff, very friendly atmosphere. Excellent location right in the historical part of the city. Btw. Most beautiful receptionist I have ever met :-)
Review 86:noisy neighbours in this central B&B square of about 6 units. kept partying until 3.30am so not much sleep. very noisy and people tended to slam the gate into the square at all hours on their return. security lights on until 6am.
Review 87:staff very friendly and helpful. had a split level B&B apartment separate from main building. comfortable enough.
Review 88:Steep stairway. Pillow was lumpy.
Review 89:Friendly helpful staff, located amongst real Italian lifestyle away from touristy gimmicks. Modern decorations. View overlooked small square, extremely charming and authentic. Excellent value. Close to ferries to Is of Capri, Positano, Amalfi or train to Pompei, Naples or Rome.
Review 90:Be aware that you should not try to drive the old city. The streets are for locals only.
Review 91:Lucia was very welcoming. A real professional with a great personality. Met us and guided us to the B&B. Recommended one of the best restaurants for an excellent dinner. Provided us with info on the area. The B&B was very charming , very comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. Everything was very clean and up to date.Enjoyed watching the local daily life, laundry flapping in the breeze, renovations being done across the street, from balcony window. The narrow old streets were charming and exactly as we would hope they would be. Enjoyed seeing the daily routine unfold as the day wore on, smelling fresh bread, local traffic etc. Very convenient location to access transport to all the sites on our list. Lucia arranged parking offsite for us. I must not forget the charming and very helpful Nani. Each morning , he arrived right on time with our breakfast choices, fresh cold juice, hot cappuccino etc. He carried our luggage up & down the stairs and went out of his way to walk with us directly to the parking garage.
Review 92:we loved this b&b. very nice room, good breakfast, helpful staff. located 20 min from the central station. We rented a scooter and traveled along the Amalfi Coast.
Review 93:The noise, dirt, and bad air of Salerno. The Amalfi coast is nothing but a big Tourist trap as compared to other charming coastal towns of Italy and we were terribly disappointed. We had expectations of the Amalfitano from the old films and were saddened by the negative impact that mass tourism has had on this part of Italy.
Review 94:We liked the layout and design of our room . The staff was very helpful & friendly, especially Lucia.
Review 95:Wifi didn't work at all in the rooms but it was kinda nice to get out and socialize. Just might be a good idea to specify for some guests.
Review 96:Great location, right next to the harbor and plenty of shops and restaurants. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, especially Lucia and Erani, sorry if I messed up spelling of names.
Review 97:What a surprise was hidden behind old external gates and walls. The interior was bright and airy, well-lit and spacious. Breakfast arrived on time, hot and delicious!
Review 98:Extraordinary friendly staff, the breakfast can be compiled at your own requirement the evening before. Ausserordentlich freundliches Personal, das Frühstück kann man sich am Vorabend nach Belieben zusammenstellen!
Review 99:The upper floor is little bit difficult to use, but that's about the only thing
Review 100:Great location near the center but still at a quite and lovely place. Very clean and good service. Loved every moment
Review 101:We came with a car, and it is really not possible to park on the street near by. We ended up using the private garage recomended by the B&B which was fine, but cost 25 euro per 24 hours, so an extra cost to be aware of if coming with a car.
Review 102:Fantastic location right in the heart of the old city, and walking distance to great restaurants, shops and feries to Amalfi, Sorrento, etc... Newly renovated modern facilities and friendly staff.
Review 103:The room was dirty, there was visible dirt on the carpet and on the washroom door, like it hasn't been cleaned for years.
Review 104:The staff was really friendly. The room was really big. Located in the old city, close to shopping, and relatively close to the marina for day trips to Amalfi, Positano, and Capri.
Review 105:The staff was very friendly and helpful. Getting breakfast served in the room every morning was very nice! The room and bathroom was in high standard, and always clean. Location was great, close to restaurants, the coastline and train station. Down by Porto Concordia you can take a daytrip by boat to Amalfi, Positano and Capri. Ticket from 7 Euro.
Review 106:a bit noisy with opened window at night
Review 107:Nice Hotel, very clean bright rooms, located in historical centre of Salerno, close to Porto Manfredi 5 minutes on foot to Porto Concordia 20 min on foot. Train station in 15 min. on foot. Good located to all restaurants and caffe, shops. We enjoyed our stay in the Hotel. Breakfast was served at room on appropriate time. Free wifi, free coffee, water. You can fill like at home. Staff very helpful and friendly you can get all needed information there.
Review 108:We travelled in Italy for 2 weeks and this B&B was by far the best we stayed at during our trip! The lady who checked us in was absolutely lovely and very helpful and made us feel welcome. The room was very luxury (the only one during the whole trip that had an actual double bed and not two twin beds put together), had a lovely new bathroom and the breakfast was brought to the room in the morning. We enjoy our stay and will come back next year! Definitely recommended!
Review 109:The wifi didn't reach our room, which was on the top floor, so we had to come down to the lobby area to use it. But given the view that we had from our room, we didn't mind too much.
Review 110:We only stayed at Il Vicolo Della Neve B&B one night, but I wish we could have stayed longer! The location in Salerno was just perfect- in the heart of the historic district and right across the street from a fantastic restaurant serving traditional southern Italian cuisine. Our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the neighborhood, where we enjoyed a delicious breakfast, which was brought straight up to our room. The room was really lovely- modern, chic and comfortable. Nonni and Lucia were very friendly and helpful- we would definitely recommend this place to adventurous travelers looking to experience the culture of old Salerno!
Review 111:Noise from the surrounding restaurants but it was part of the ambience.
Review 112:A bit difficult to find but just had to call Lucia and she cane to meet us out on the main street. historic part of Salerno but reno done really well. Great stay.
Review 113:No WiFi in the apartment, only outside in the courtyard. The bathroomwas ok, but small and could have been a little bit cleaner.
Review 114:We stayed in the split-level studio apartment of this B&B, which islocated 100 meters from the actual B&B. The apartment is spaciousand modern, has a separate bathroom, fridge, wardrobe, tv and airco. Itslocation is perfect; in the middle of the centre of Salerno, close toshops, restaurants and the sea. It's a 15 minute walk from the train-station. The apartment is in a private courtyard which makes it, despitebeing in the centre, a very quiet and safe location. Staff at thereception was kind and helpful. Breakfast served in the room was adefinite plus!
Review 115:It is a small place and we lived on the top, 3rd, floor. The stairs up to the room were very steep and narrow. For us, a young couple, it was no problem. I would not recommend this hotel to an elderly couple however. Other than that, all was great.
Review 116:Great atmosphere with incredibly helpful staff. It's a small B&B, 5 rooms plus a suite. The rooms are spacious and everything is in very good condition. Breakfast is served in the room each morning, and you can choose yourself what you want from the menu. The staff helped us with many things, their English was very good so there were no communication problems. I would definitely stay there again!
Review 117:Note that the location is slightly further from the train station, 15 minutes leisurely walk.
Review 118:- New apartment that was recently opened in 2013. - Spacious, new and contemporary design - Excellent staff members who are always willing to help.
Review 119:It was too noisy at night. They definitely need double glazed windows.
Review 120:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The ensuite was very nicely done and very clean.
Review 121:As I stayed on a Friday an Saturday night, it got quite loud outside. Other than that no complaints.
Review 122:Fabulous staff! Lucia was so helpful with planning my day trips and always greeted me with a smile. Rosario, the owner, was very kind as well. The other staff were willing to help me out when needed, from walking me out to the street to show me where bus stops were to helping me carry my luggage up the very steep steps. Breakfast was served in the room at the time of your choice and was very good. The room was very clean and spacious. Water, coffee and tea available at any time.
Review 123:Our room #1 is immediately adjacent to the front desk and located on the small street behind, thus is very noisy.
Review 124:Location, staff, breakfast, extra large bathroom and shower, Coffee machine in the lobby.
Review 125:The steps are very steep and Wi-Fi did not work well in our thirdfloor room.
Review 126:The staff was extremely helpful and kind. The housekeeper wasamazingingly friendly. The rooms were modern yet classic Italian. Myhusband and I enjoyed our stay at this lovely b&B. The location wassuperb as well since we wanted to be near the action of Salerno.
Review 127:Is a bit farther from the station than we expected but it is located inthe historical center so very comfortable for visiting the city. Just ifyou wanna take the boat to amalfi coast you should consider the time forwalking to the harbor.
Review 128:The room is bigger than we expected, very clean, and with a lovelybalcony. The stairs are a bit narrow but we didn't carry bigluggages so not a problem for us. The breakfast was nice too. The staffwere helpful and very friendly but not everyone of them speaks english.
Review 129:We liked everything. We loved the noises from the street below and the lady across the street hanging out her laundry. (If you're a light sleeper, you might bring ear plugs.)
Review 130:Staff was extremely helpful. Breakfast was brought to the room each morning. This is one of those places with a little first-floor balcony that you that you see in the movies and say, "We've got to go there!" Its in the heart of the old town, at the intersection of two narrow streets teeming with Italian life, surrounded by quaint restaurants and gelato shops. Two blocks from the bay; three from the Duomo. This place is Italy!!! Fortunately we were able to extend for one extra night. On our next visit to Salerno this is the first place we'll try to book.
