Reviews for Hotel Montestella
Review 1:The bathroom was poorly designed. I took down a towel, all the towels fell. I turned on a faucet, the water sprayed over the basin! Given the small shower, the huger shower head is ridiculous! Why doesn't the hotel have moveable shower heads. The room was also -- I don't know -- dirty or, rather, not completely redone from re-construction. And the price! It wasn't worth 100 Euro. In Naples, I stayed at a four star hotel that was 76 Euro, and it was elegant.
Review 2:The staff was nice.
Review 3:The room, corridors and the breakfast area looked quite tired (mainly repainting). A/C is very noisy. No shower head!
Review 4:The staff went out of their way to help us, especially when the wi-fi did not seem to work and when I needed a quiet place to take care of some last minute work on the day of departure. Excellent bed linen and towels!
Review 5:The hotel was lacking love and care are lacking all over the place, apart from the reception area. Our room was smelly.
Review 6:Location is fine, breakfast is quite good.
Review 7:This hotel met our requirements for a four day stay, there was nothing we did not like about it.
Review 8:The room was very clean, comfortable and the staff helpful. If you are a shopper this is the place to stay, close to the railway station, situated in the new highstreet and 3 minutes from the old town.
Review 9:No bad experiences for us.
Review 10:The nearby old town was charming, and the people were friendly and helpful. The hotel staff, especially the breakfast crew, went out of their way to be of service. Close to the train station and the ferry terminal.
Review 11:I really liked the location and the assistance of the staff. The street music and activities were most enjoyable. The hotel was quiet from any noise.
Review 12:Breakfast started at 7am but not all food was out and ready by 7am, had to wait for at least half an hour for bacon and eggs or bread but this was the only minor thing. The place was great!
Review 13:Location, very friendly helpful staff, great, clean, spacious room and bathroom, nice breakfast, great hotel! So happy with it!
Review 14:Too bad the day we arrived there was a storm in Salerno. All the power was down before we arrived and the lifts were down. The wifi coverage in our room was limited to our room door. Worked great in the lobby though, which suited our needs.
Review 15:Very well located, friendly staff and a comfortable and clean room. The breakfast on the top floor with a great view to city, sea and mountain was great.
Review 16:There was no parking, so we had to park the car in a parking nearby which costs 20 EUROs per night.
Review 17:Perfect hotel! It's in the center of the city, clean, rich breakfast, the Wi-Fi worked just fine. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful.
Review 18:Early departure necessitated a breakfast 'to go' be packed. It was appreciated, but no spoon for yoghurt available, and one apple for two? Staff did make us a hot drink though.
Review 19:The wifi inside the bedroom is too bad. We needed to go out to the corridor to surf the Internet.
Review 20:The breakfast is very plentiful and delicious, especially the Cheese!!! There are 3 varieties of cheese. Its good to have a try on them! Also the location for the breakfast has a good view, so we recommend others to pay more time to enjoy it! The appearance of the hotel is also nice.
Review 21:Wi-Fi in my room was very weak Room was quite dark No in-room safe
Review 22:Great breakfast with a view Really helpful staff Excellent location close to transport and attractions Large and clean room with a good shower
Review 23:The room was a little outdated compared to the first floor reception area.
Review 24:The front desk was very accommodating and helpful. They gave us a fabulous restaurant recommendation and we had one of the best meals of our trip in Salerno!
Review 25:Well located if you are travelling close / walking distance to train station, port for Amalfi and Positano ferry and the historical centre - lots of trendy shops along this street too.
Review 26:It was too warm in the rooms and the heating could not be turned off, as it was centrally controlled. We asked the reception to turn it off, they said they would, but they did not. We resorted to keeping the windows open overnight, but that meant it was too noisy to get a good night's sleep.
Review 27:Rooms were very spacious. We had booked a quadruple and got a suite with two bedrooms! Great location in main shopping area, 8 minutes walk from train station. Friendly staff and very good breakfast with something for everyone.
Review 28:Can be noisy if you have the windows on the Corso.
Review 29:By far the best breakfast during our Italy trip! The breakfast was at the top floor in a very pleasant and sunny atmosphere! The staff was helpful and very efficient!
Review 30:price reasonable. Staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good. Location a 10 minute walk from train station and 15 from ferry boats. In middle of shopping district with nearby variety of restaurants.
Review 31:I am a Senior with bad knees and the step up into the tub was a bit difficult.
Review 32:Good and friendly staff, very helpful. Nice room with fridge, comfy beds. Great location (terrace ) for a very good breakfast.
Review 33:1. Room was small and dark 2. Mould all over the bathroom (hot water good) 3. shower very small 4. No way to get a hot drink during the day only at breakfast (breakfast OK) 5. No in room safe 6. Rooms not very clean. 7. lots of street noise 8. They always seemed to be sort of staff 9. More like a B&B than a 3* hotel. How it got 3* I really don't know.
Review 34:Just the location in centre of Salerno but where it ends. So many better places to stay at
Review 35:Its in a very good location, spotlessly clean and the hotelier went out of his way to open up the roof terrace so guests had a bird's eye view of the annual Saint 's Day procession from the Duomo.
Review 36:No wifi connection, at least not in the room. i saw people stay standing at the hallway to get internet.
Review 37:In the main street, closeby has pretty a good seafood restaurant, close to train station! Basic and practical for the price. indeed not fancy, justify by the price you pay.
Review 38:Wi fi on floor 4 inconsistent, but excellent in lounge
Review 39:Breakfast on balcony was great. Balcony room great. Staff very helpful. Good access to railway and port. Close to Amalfi coast, which is great.
Review 40:Wifi in room unusable. Also hotel must be in some sort of reception blackspot as my Italian mobile barely got a signal either.
Review 41:Close to old city and also bus station for early morning transfer to Naples airport. Staff happily made us a breakfast bag as we checked out early
Review 42:Were unable/unwilling to allow me a late checkout (but did keep my luggage for me)
Review 43:Great location, affordable and well-appointed
Review 44:Shower cabin has small doors not for men or rubens women
Review 45:Everything OK!!!
Review 46:Good hotel!!! Good location!!!
Review 47:Ideal location between railway station and city center, breakfast on the roof terrace
Review 48:nothing
Review 49:Location, in the old town area by shops and not far from cruise port. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Review 50:Little bit noisy from street
Review 51:Place, room, close to the train station
Review 52:the double bed and sheet is uncomfortable for 1 person, the chair is absolutely unusable
Review 53:the staff was very helpful
Review 54:Ideal location!
Review 55:rooms/hallways need updating (paint, worn carpet); the lobby is very nice; hotel was built in 1913 per the front desk staff
Review 56:location, staff
Review 57:La colazione sul terrazzo e' stata spettacolare
Review 58:Location and service are good, breakfast is great
Review 59:Having to leave.
Review 60:The staff and the terrazzo breakfast. The closeness to shops and transportation.
Review 61:The Reception and breakfast staff were very friendly, and helpful. We loved the roof terrace for breakfast.
Review 62:the staff were absolutely fantastic. really loved this hotel.
Review 63:Squeaky bed.
Review 64:Location in main walking area. Close to station and old town. Great restaurants in area.
Review 65:Clean, good location, friendly staff. Rooms decent size. Staff helpful and friendly.
Review 66:comfort of bed
Review 67:WiFi was not working in the room. Breakfast was very disappointing.
Review 68:Roma are on streste are very noisy, poor breakfast
Review 69:Very Goodyear location
Review 70:rooms are old and unfashioned
Review 71:situated on main shopping boulevard
Review 72:bit jaded but other rooms were being updated
Review 73:near railway station very central location rooms ok
Review 74:Excellent clean hotel with lovely staff. Comfortable and great location on Main Street
Review 75:The price is too much for what it is. The staff were not too friendly, on my second day the wifi went so i had to use a room downstairs where the receptionist and another man had an argument for about 1 hour which was uncomfortable. The sheets were scruffy and torn. The elevator was broken. The facilities in general were not well maintained. When i asked if i could have a receipt for my bill they looked at me as if I was crazy. I would not stay here again.
Review 76:I liked the location as its close to bus/train station and all the shops
Review 77:The breakfast choices wern't great and the toaster was extremely slow. Service in the breakfast room was also quite slow but very polite. It was also very annoying that I couldn't get wifi in the room. I had to go down to reception to connect to wifi.
Review 78:The receptionists were all very helpful and their English was perfect. The room was nice and comfortable and the cleaning was excellent, done on a daily basis.
Review 79:Website says a rooftop terrace is available. It is, but only at breakfast time. The rest of the time it's locked. Website also states wi-fi available in all areas. Not so. Any "area" not on the ground floor doesn't have internet access. I found this misrepresentation particularly annoying and would not have booked if I had known the true position. Also the breakfast was somewhat haphazard and prone to run out of staples (like butter!). The breakfast room has, in my opinion, the worst toaster in the world. When asked about roof terrace and internet, staff were completely uninterested.
Review 80:Rooms were clean, good sizes and well furnished. The beds were clean and comfortable. The lobby is freshly decorated and is bright and welcoming.
Review 81:The wifi signal inside the rooms is very bad, however it's good in the reception and allies. It would've been better if there was a safe in the room.
Review 82:It's very close to the train station (5-min walk). It's a good deal for the money. The staff are really helpful.
Review 83:Once you go in the elevator you feel dissapointed, it looks dated, the carpet looks old the hallways are dark and in general the hotel it's worse than it looked in the pictures. The breakfast it's only ok and the parking is very difficult to find and reach. I would not stay in this hotel another time.
Review 84:The lobby, as soon as you enter you have a pleasant image, a modern hotel with a nice bar area.
Review 85:There's no sign or anything on the outside that tells you where the hotel is. The entrance was renovated while the rooms were quite dark and worn. The breakfast was nice but quite small range - bread and cakes along with coffee, juice and yogurt.
Review 86:The hotel's location is very good, just a few minutes walk from the railway station. Reception staff were pleasant and polite. The rooms were quite big and clean. Nice to have breakfast on the terrace. Good value for the money.
Review 87:We had a hard time finding it. We actually walked past it three times before asking somebody. It's undergoing some renovations so no sign was at the front to distinguish it. Was very surprised at the carpeted floors in the room. Didn't feel clean.
Review 88:It was on the main walking mall and close to the sea
Review 89:no other TV programs for non Italien speakers. it is a pity that there was no sitting possibility in the balcony
Review 90:breakfast the small balcony friendly receptionists the white big dog!
Review 91:Toiletries were a bit scarce and would not allow for two showers in the same day
Review 92:The quiet and the location, the comfort of the simple bed, the breakfast on the terrace
Review 93:Wifi is not available on your room and we had problems with the key. They ended up transferring us to another room after we had trouble a couple of times.
Review 94:Convenient location to train, other transportation, restaurant and shopping area. Great breakfast area with adequate food selection.
Review 95:Non-existent WiFi above the third floor. If you need a connection ask for a room no higher than the second floor. Fortunately we knew where the hotel was and what it looked like as there is nothing on the street to tell you the name of the hotel.
Review 96:Recently renovated this is a smart 'boutique' hotel on the main pedestrian precinct of Salerno. The room was of a fair size with a large wash/shower area and an adjacent lavatory with a dividing door. A pleasant and airy lounge down stairs. The roof terrace was a delightful place to eat a typical Italian breakfast. Excellent value for money.
Review 97:No English TV-channel, no information leaflet about the facilities of the hotel in written form were available in the room.
Review 98:Morning breakfast on the terrace, wifi is great, a good location for daily trips around.
Review 99:Hotel is unmarked, it has no sign, so know what it looks like before youarrive so you can find the entrance.
Review 100:Close to the train station. Good European breakfast. Close to the portto take ferry to Amalfi and Portafino.
Review 101:Long wait for hot water to arrive.
Review 102:Excellent base for exploring the Amalfi Coast and Pompei. Staff were very helpful and provided extra service with laundry arrangements, bus schedules and WiFi connection. The hotel is part way through refurbishment but was still very comfortable.
Review 103:The hotel is going through renovating and the room we stayed in hadn't been completed. The bed was not very good. For a two night stay these were small items and overshadowed by the positives. This place will in time be a real jewel.
Review 104:The location was near the train station and easy walking to vibrant areas for nightlife and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help and provide suggestions and advice. One in particular was fabulous.
Review 105:No English TV stations.
Review 106:Location was excellent and the staff all very friendly and helpfull. Huge bonus coming in November with Xmas light display. A must see.
Review 107:On the main shopping street.
Review 108:Walking distance from Salerno train station and ferry. The brekky is included and usual ham, cheese, croisants, yogurts, some fruit with fresh coffee served by waiters.
Review 109:We weren't allowed to use the terrace except at breakfast and there was nowhere else close by to sit comfortably outside. Wifi didn't reach our room.
Review 110:Central location, big room, good breakfast selection and terrace. Desk always manned.
Review 111:Nothing, it was good.
Review 112:Very clean, well positioned, big rooms. We even had a very big terrace. Also, it's nice to have breakfast on a terrace at the 5th floor, nice view from there. Good breakfast and very friendly and well prepared staff. Also, they have a beautiful dog :)
Review 113:breakfast is poor (not any hot food).
Review 114:Very good location (at the main street). Nice and helpful staff. A free beach about 1 km from hotel and good not free beaches. Many not really expensive restaurants and bakeries. Good coffe at breakfast. Very nice place.
Review 115:Quite empty, our bathroom was dirty and had not been decorated in a while. The staff were nice but not really on the ball for tourists. It would not take much to make it into a good place rather than average.
Review 116:Breakfast was very good.
Review 117:The room was big and comfortable. Every afternoon when we returned our mess had been nicely put in order and the room was shining clean. The breakfast had everything we wanted and could be enjoyed on the roof terrace. Davide who takes care of the breakfast is very friendly and helpful. Really good staff at Montestella. The location is straight in the city centre. Railway station, day trip boats etc. are all nearby.
Review 118:The room a bit dated compared to the main entrance. But very clean andthe beds are very big.
Review 119:The location is in the centre of town and 5 mins to the sea. Breakfastis served on the veranda lovely location. Breakfast is very normaltypical for Europe, great coffee / tea. The breakfast waiter is veryattentive.Salerno is a great place to stay if you want to stay cheap. Its good as a base to visit the coast. Bus and train station 5 mins away. You can go down to the small ferry and go to all the islands great way to see the coast and so cheap. The food is really amazing.
Review 120:This is one of the wise hotels I have stayed at in Italy. I like the staff. My TV had only 2 channels, after they try to fix it the TV was bad still. Wifi was none. I asked if they can help me to fix it they said since my room was at the corner of the hotel it had no reception. I need the Internet for my business I chose this hotel because of the Wifi , needless to say I miss my whole business day. When I asked them to help me with it all I got was "well there is nothing I could do to help you" the morning after I compliant to the front desk and they didn't care :( I will never recommend this hotel not will I ever go back to it.
Review 121:Nothing
Review 122:People running the hotel were very polite to change the room, to give an early breakfast.. We enjoyed the location, the center of best shopping location and the train station. Good choice for the reasonable price. I recommend it to other. Travellers.
Review 123:The shower, the water had a very low flow.
Review 124:The hotel is located in a central street of Salerno. The staff was super helpful. I have stayed in this hotel three times, it is going through renovation and the downstairs facilities as well as the breakfast terrace is great.
Review 125:The room we were in was a disgrace. The bathroom ceiling was covered in black mould, the shower was blocked, peeling paint around the shower, toilet seat was broken, tiles around the basin had come off, peeling wall paper, holes in the sheets, internet was offered but unable to connect in the room.We requested another room but were told there was not another available. Very hard to find as there was scaffolding all over the building with no signage giving the name of the hotel. Reading previous feedback the renovations have been going for a long time. I would not recommend this hotel. We were away for 3 weeks and booked all our accommodation through Booking.Com and the rest were good to fantastic, Hotel Montestella was not a good hotel and a big disappointment. To be fair we complained to reception and said that we would be posting negative feedback
Review 126:The public areas have been renovated and look great, the breakfast restaurant was very nice and an adequate breakfast.
Review 127:Beds were firm but obviously close to new, room was short of the little things like tissues for example and a room safe
Review 128:spacious room and shower, quiet as requested, good breakfast on terrace or inside as you wished, attentive and helpfull staff, not too busy. Close to port, old city, restaurants, chinese too, shopping precinct and transport
Review 129:The wifi didn't work that well, I had to stand in a certain place in the room for the wifi to work, but this is only a little negative as i wasn't there to surf the net.
Review 130:We loved the location of the hotel, just a 10 minute walk from the train station, very easy to find and was not noisy at all and we are light sleepers. We had breakfast one morning at the hotel, they have great croissants with Nutella and the view on the terrace upstairs is nice. Hotel was clean and the front desk was always very helpful if we were looking for a place to eat.
Review 131:Room was clean but small. Hotel had two computers available for guests. Hotel is about a 10 min walk from train station and about 15-20 min walk from good restaurants and the cathedral.
