Reviews for The Loft Hotel
Review 1:Significantly more expensive in comparison to the added value in terms of luxury.
Review 2:Comfortable bed and good amenities. Internet was stronger than most other hotels in Myanmar.
Review 3:The porters are very helpful and friendly, however the reception staff don't seem to know exactly what they are doing apart from the manager who is a little heavy handed. We were forced to take 3 rooms although there was plenty of room in 2 rooms for the 5 of us. I know this is hotel policy but it is a little inflexible and ended up very expensive for us. Two of our children were ill in the night with very bad food poisoning from a nearby restaurant (stick to hotel restaurant if you can) so we ended up in just 2 rooms anyway. The Loft is a fantastic hotel but to be really excellent needs to offer flexibility on the rooms The hotel was origionally managed by the French manager now in Inle. The Loft would benefit from having him back.
Review 4:The Loft was like an Oasis for us in Yangon. It is beautifully decorated and has high quality materials and bedding. The breakfasts are fantastic and the hotel is very comfortable and always a pleasure to go back to after a busy day sight seeing.
Review 5:It seemed a little pricey for what it was and where it is
Review 6:Staff very helpful and friendly, good location to walking around, room comfortable and breakfast good
Review 7:Nothing we did not like - would stay there again without hesitation.
Review 8:Staff super friendly and helpful. Hotel was spotlessly clean. Excellent restaurant for breakfast and dinner. We were delighted with this sanctuary in the middle of the heat and busy-ness of Yangon.
Review 9:The window in the bathroom looks into the main room. In the duplex, when you are coming down the stairs you can see someone if they are sitting on the loo. Not ideal! They should use opaque glass.
Review 10:Location, staff and restaurant
Review 11:Unfortunately, the Internet didn't work when we were there. It wasn't the fault of the hotel though.
Review 12:Great location to go explore downtown. Loved the decor.
Review 13:Did not really dislike anything
Review 14:This is a very comfortable hotel. It is quite new, very modern and with well appointed spacious rooms. The breakfast is made to order and also very good. Staff are extremely helpful.
Review 15:Not much. There were frequent short (<20 secs) brownouts, but this is probably normal anywhere in Yangon. They do have back up lights anyway.
Review 16:The staff are amazing people. They always make sure you feel welcomed at this hotel. The interior design is quite modern and cool as well, and it is located in good location.
Review 17:Food wasn't great and it's quite expensive (although most hotels here are to be fair)
Review 18:Very friendly and helpful staff, nice rooms and in a very good location
Review 19:Staff in the newly opened restaurant could be better trained. Service is good but robotic. Not natural.
Review 20:Location, management and hotel staff are great. Design is functional.
Review 21:After each power outage (which is something that happens frequently in Myanmar, of course not within the control of the hotel), all the lights in the room will switch on. At night time, this is rather annoying!
Review 22:Very nice hotel, friendly and helpful staff, nice rooms and good location.
Review 23:Far too expensive for the Quality and service you receive. Dirty room, broken glass in the Shower, Lavatory broken. They try to make money on very need you have… the worse hotel in my 12 days in Myammar.
Review 24:location and Breakfast
Review 25:Just could believe bed in attic and ni toilet. It troublesome n dangerous to get down to pee in the middle of night
Review 26:Nothing good in the hotel deserve any good review. Its a dangerous room configuration with bed in attic with no facilities
Review 27:Nothing bad to comment. Nothing is perfect but our stay was beyond our expectations.
Review 28:The hotel organised the airport pick-up for us and they were waiting for us at the hotel. He room is bigger than it looks on the pics, and every detail is preciously selected. The smell of the whole venue is really comforting and nice. The breakfast is also extraordinary, as well as all the staff: polite, caring and respectful. Nice location too, 10 mins walking to downtown and around 25-30 to te pagoda, although taxis are available almost every step, which makes it easier to move around the city. We highly recommend the hotel to everyone visiting the city
Review 29:1) Over price for this small hotel. 2) They don't allow request for 2nd room key. 3) Management only provide one bath towel. 4) Worst breakfast 5) Wifi is slow like turtle.
Review 30:Staffs are friendly
Review 31:For the price it really lacked facilities; no gym, no pool and when we first stayed the restaurant only served breakfast. Though a few days later it was open for dinner there was no room service at all - really difficult when you're looking after a baby - and we had to work hard on the kitchen staff to make a simple breakfast smoothie for our 11 month old daughter. At first they told us there was no blender! The dinner menu in the restaurant - kind of French Asian fusion with haute cuisine prices $US45-50 for a steak) seemed weirdly over the top for the style of hotel. They also charged us an additional $US50 for a late checkout which other hotels in South Asia often give free, though we were very grateful to them for shuffling rooms around so we could have that late checkout. Essential for baby afternoon nap. This is a lovely boutique hotel with some serious kinks to sort out I would definitely NOT recommend it for families with young kids.
Review 32:Funky loft rooms with Francis Francis coffee machines, wifi, interesting photography on the walls and friendly staff who were very good on booking taxis and efficient with check in and check out. Loved the location, and breakfast room was cool though I thought the breakfast pretty lack lustre.
Review 33:The bathroom door, toilet paper holder is apparently not so well designed. The aircon was a particular problem as it did not reach the upper storey of the loft so it was rather warm at night.
Review 34:The room was classy and spacious, breakfast was unique.
Review 35:Unfortunately, the hotel is located on a street that links two major roads and thus is always teeming with traffic. However, most of the city is a gridlock during the day, so we took the opportunity and walked to where the roads were marginally less congested and jumped into a taxi there!
Review 36:The Loft is an amazing find in Yangon, considering most hotels are either larger chains (Shangri-La, Park Royal, Novotel) or much dodgier accommodations. While slightly pricier, it's well worth the extra dollars - very comfy (and clean!) beds, spacious rooms, welcoming staff and really good complimentary breakfast.
Review 37:shower stall floodSo due to poor drainage... earlier reviews have also mentioned this issue. expensive... probably get similar for half the price in bangkok but then this is yangon, I guess
Review 38:convenient location in the downtown area. taxis easily available. railway stations and restaurants/food outlets nearby room comfy, clean and equipped with the usual amenities but see Cons Staff very helpful
Review 39:Almost the same price as Park Royal, but no fitness center, no pool, no bar (although bar is coming).
Review 40:Rooms were both stylish and comfortable, very clean. Good proximity to downtown and restaurants.
Review 41:Can't find one thing bad to say
Review 42:I have nothing but praise for this hotel. The staff is professional. The rooms are immaculate. Hey pay attention to detail. Even the choice in soap products is 5 star. The restaurant is great for breakfast . The wifi is the best we had in Myanmar .
Review 43:Looking forward to the time when the full restaurant and bar is up and running - then it would get full marks from me!!
Review 44:Everything about the ambience, the food at breakfast, comfort of room, especially the bed, and the L'Occitane bathroom products all made for an excellent stay. Very comfortable and well appointed spacious rooms.
Review 45:Staff didn't understand all request or executed them incorrectly. Price is therefore a little bit high, also taking in account small missed details in the room / hotel. If you take taxi from hotel please bargain, saved half of the price for taxi to airport.
Review 46:Confortable rooms and bed.
Review 47:However, the hotel has no facilities at all: no swimming pool, no gym, no business center. And it's very much overpriced: around 200 U$ a night is really too much. The property can enjoy extra profit due to the current touristic boom of the country. For the same price of one night here, in Bangkok you can survive one week in a hotel of the same category! And, when you check out, have care not to put in your bag the nice fabric sleepers, which you would like to keep and are complimentary all over the world, but not here. They will ask you to surrender them over the counter, just for only 200 U$ a night, quite ridiculous.
Review 48:The Loft is a new small hotel, very near to Parkroyal. The rooms are really excellent, well decorated and clean, with complete amenities of L'Occitaine, which you like to keep for collection. Wifi internet most of the times is working properly, and you can even use Skype, sometimes it's down due to local instability. Breakfast is served in the restaurant at the Ground Floor, a la carte, there's no buffet, but the choice in the menu is good enough and it's being served quickly, with fried eggs cooked at perfection.
Review 49:The duplex suite had an open (see through walled) bathroom so some guests may find this not to their taste. The coffee machine was tricky to use with no instructions. The hotel is in soft launch mode, so this would account for some unfinished areas/amenities but it didn't cause any issues for us.
Review 50:We loved the location and the style of this hotel. The staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive and we were greeted and checked in efficiently with a cold iced tea and towel - nice touch! We stayed here twice - before and after our travels to Bagan - so stayed in the duplex suite first which was roomy on two levels with a separate bedroom, living room area and terrace overlooking the street. The second time we stayed in a regular studio which was also very nice and in my opinion better value for money than the duplex. The L'Occitane toiletries were a nice addition and the wifi was speedy and easy to connect. Would highly recommend this hotel for a nice change to the larger chains in the city.
Review 51:Not sure if the see through bathroom facilities are to everyone's taste! Price-wise, it was a bit expensive for what it was and beware there is a 3.75% charge for credit card payments.
Review 52:Hotel is very stylish and was in its soft launch phase which accounts for some of the missing amenities such as the dining facilities. There is a great cafe down the road called '365' which is open all hours. The location is great for the city centre, lovely and helpful staff with an easy check in process (a very welcome cool towel and iced tea). We stayed in the duplex suite which was nice and roomy on a split level with L'Occitane toiletries (nice touch). There is a decent breakfast and overall it was a very comfortable stay.
Review 53:After travelling around Myanmar for several weeks, it was a welcome reprieve to stay in this beautiful and comfortable hotel. From the moment I walked into the foyer I was met with the welcoming smiles of the staff, and the beautiful aroma of lemongrass oils. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The shower was hot and powerful, and I loved the complimentary L'occitane products. I was on the first floor and was not bothered by the street noises. By comparison to other places I stayed at around Myanmar, this place was definitely the quietest.
Review 54:The nightly noise outside can be very loud at times. Dogs / cats and people noises at night can be disturbing.
Review 55:The hotel is located in a very centralized part of the city that allows for walking to many of the great Yangon sites. The staff was extraordinarily nice and helpful. We called a couple of times for assistance in our room and they showed up in less than a minute. The front desk, concierge and other members of the hotel were wonderful. The hotel is very new, clean, great design - if you like the boutique style hotels. We typically like boutique hotels over the mega-building hotels so it fit our needs. Free and fast WiFi was a great addition.
Review 56:This hotel is an excellent choice and made our stay in Yangon so comfortable! The location is great - City Center, very close to the Market and to Sule Pagode. Shwedagon is also in a short distance. The service personel is awesome and really helpful. There is nothing to complain about!
Review 57:The breakfast was not good. I hope they can do better than that. Since this hotel s located in the middle of downtown, there s no view.
Review 58:Easy access to the center by foot. We stayed in very stylish duplex room.
Review 59:The Loft Hotel The Loft Hotel is like finding an oasis in a desert. It was as fantastic find amongst the over touristy and overpriced hotel options in Yangon. As with most other places in Myanmar, the staff is exceedingly friendly. You can expect perfect and timely service. Here are a few key points: Safety: There are two guards on watch at all times outside and the rooms have a good safe, along with a great door lock. (If you require such things) Food: They are in process of building a restaurant but there is a free breakfast if you selected that option which is quite pleasant. You have a good selection of typical western options. Omelet, yogurt, smoothie, etc. Location: You're right down the street from the market and a few blocks away from the Sky Bistro (20 floors up and good for lunch). Overall, this is a fine location and taxis are always ready and nearby. Room Quality: PERFECT. Contemporary with an awesome shower and fantastic lighting in the bedroom. A+ The overall verdict is if you want a super nice place to stay in Yangon without having to pay way too much then go ahead an book a room at the Loft. It won't disappoint.
Review 60:International telephone dialling capability would be good.
Review 61:If you have business meetings in downtown, you need to be within walking distance, or else you will spend hours in taxis in traffic jams. The Loft is in a relatively quiet street with a selection of local restaurants.
Review 62:The room and facilities were excellent. A real designer haven. I stayed in an Executive Suite with separate living and bedroom. The location was great with several restaurants nearby. A short walk to the the downtown with many more restaurants and attractions. The staff were excellent, spoke English and were helpful with advice on nearby restaurants, activities, and arranging Taxis. Breakfast was a-la carte so no waiting around for egg dishes or picking over a tired buffet. There is currently no Restaurant but one was being fitted out during my visit to open shortly. A small and very welcoming Boutique hotel.
Review 63:The neighborhood is not great. It's dirty and full of street vendors (and their associated smells). It is close to the main market, which is good. But be wary.
Review 64:The wifi was great for Myanmar standards. The hotel itself is nice and modern. Breakfast was good, although a bit slow since it is not buffet.
Review 65:The street is fairly narrow and sometimes congested. Walking from here can be difficult in some directions too.
Review 66:The hotel is on the edge of the downtown area, and very near the market. Also not too far from the Shwedagon Pagoda. It's a new hotel with big comfortable rooms. The 'loft' rooms have access to a balcony overlooking the street. The staff are very friendly and helpful. If it's in your price range, and you want to be near the city and market, this would be a good choice.
Review 67:We had an infant child and the hotel does not provide infant beds/cots which was inconvenient.
Review 68:Friendly, knowledgable staff always at hand to help. Nice apartment New York loft style rooms well stocked with quality refreshments. Excellent location with the heart of the city in walking distance. Fantastic a-la-carte breakfast to start each day.
Review 69:The hotel is still in "soft launch" phase so the restaurant and spa are still being built/prepared for opening. Also our room (a junior suite/duplex apartment) had some snagging issues - shower cubicle leaked and flooded the bathroom, there was a random wire (sealed) sticking out of the floor in the bedroom, & the bed creaked quite a lot.
Review 70:This boutique hotel is very stylish, has excellent reception staff & great free wifi. Its also in a great position for the train station and downtown exploring. When the hotel is ready to fully open, it will be a great place to stay.
Review 71:I think the price is a bit too high for what you're getting, especially in Yangon.
Review 72:We had a really nice 2-night stay in The Loft Hotel. The rooms have a very cool and comforting style. Great lighting, nice bathroom and comfortable bed.
Review 73:The last day our friends in another room discovered a bedbug on the chair, and one of them had had suspicious bites the previous days as well.
Review 74:Our perception of this hotel was excellent - good comfort, very clean, nice breakfast - which is we were very surprised to hear about bedbugs in our friends room.
Review 75:The restaurant is not yet open so the price is quite steep given that room service is not available. There is no gym either.
Review 76:The location was very good on a quiet street and a short walk to downtown.
Review 77:The breakfast area wasn't great and while they're expanding the dining area and choice, it isn't there yet. The breakfast choice is limited.
Review 78:The Staff were all excellent, obliging and most welcoming. Good location and nice atmosphere.
Review 79:Doors were thin, allowing lots of hallway noise into room.
Review 80:Stylish, comfortable hotel. Great breakfast - not buffet but actual entrees. Helpful staff - helped me get train tickets, taxis, phone chargers, etc. Location was fine for me. I could walk anywhere in downtown Yangon, though others might think it is a bit far to Sule Pagoda, etc.
Review 81:The only thing what I did not like was that the wooden floors were to polished that one can easily slip with socks on only. This can be dangerous especially for older people. Otherwise this hotel is great and I will stay there again when coming back to Yangon.
Review 82:Central location of the hotel Lots of shopping and restaurants around. Great staff, friendly and attentive Bathroom, shower all clean, modern and spacious.
Review 83:Nothing. It was perhaps a bit pricey, but its also a Boutique Hotel, and for a young couple, it was quite an experience! Thank you The Loft Hotel!!
Review 84:As soon as we arrived, the staff at the front desk had been expecting us. After the booking formalities had been sorted, our bags were taken, a wake up call and a taxi to the airport for the next day was organised and we were shown to our room. The night staff were delightful. We also got a personalised letter from the owner explaining the works to the restaurant. Very impressed!!
Review 85:The payment was requested in advance for all four nights. On top of that they requested hundred dollars as a deposit. The staff was friendly but not very experienced. Water supply is a problem as well as wifi. Breakfast was OK, but still served a la carte.
Review 86:The location was convenient in downtown Yangon, close to restaurants and places of interest. The room was large and had the facilities of a four-star hotel. Wooden floors was a plus. The industrial feel of the hotel sets it apart from many other hotels.
Review 87:Very small portion breakfast with limited choice. No toiletry refill or incomplete refill. Bad minibar inventory.
Review 88:Love L'occitane toiletry, comfy bed, good room environment. Nice and friendly staff.
Review 89:The entrance is a little inconspicuous and we almost missed it.
Review 90:Great location and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Love the decor and rooms were spacious. Wifi was much better than I expected in Yangon. Breakfast was also good. Loved the location, central and with a good feel of local neighborhood and culture.
Review 91:Nothing really. Things will be great when they open their restaurant & bar.
Review 92:The atmosphere was very friendly & the staff were extremely helpful. Particularly when negotiating a good price for a cab.
Review 93:Hotel not finished. No spa and no restaurant although this is advertised on the website. No room service. Loud drilling and banging noises. Our request for staff to provide a contact for an English speaking guide to see the sights of the city was ignored. The hotel didnt even have a map of the city so that we could orientate ourselves. Bathroom flooded every time we had a shower. Resented paying full price when there was no way we could have proper enjoyment of the hotel. Would not recommend anyone else to stay there. Didnt enjoy our time in Yangon much.
Review 94:Clean room. Nice decor. Staff polite but clueless.
Review 95:Everything at the Loft was great from the staff to the rooms. Not 100% ready yet as some of the rooms and the restaurant are not done yet. That said, spacious comfy rooms, and a very attentive staff make this a nice alternative to the big chains.
Review 96:Bathroom was built poorly-water was not able to be drained out fast enough when showering. Water jet of the tap was too strong too. Noisy room, street traffic was very audible.
Review 97:Very new boutique. Great lo'cattaine amenities. High quality of stay that was unexpected in Yangon. Walking distance to jade market.
Review 98:Pricing steep when consider have no restaurant except for breakfast (still being finished) or other major hotel facilities such as pool/gym etc but I'll be back
Review 99:Still in 'soft opening' phase - lift now working, staff service improving. Modern rooms, terrific location. Walk to Bogyoke Market, art galleries, heritage buildings and Shwedagon (20min). Lote of shops and market stalls close by
Review 100:Quality of construction, poor quality of staff with obvious lack of training, no management presence, WIFI worst in Yangon, rooms noisy,
Review 101:Location was okay and attempt at boutique design was noted but amateur
Review 102:They need sound proof windows on the street side.
Review 103:Staff and location were great.
Review 104:Staff were amazing, went above and beyond at all times which made it a very special experience and a great start to our Myanmar visit.
Review 105:The sewer pipes must be choked. Room has a bad stench of sewer waste.
Review 106:temporary lift breakdown
Review 107:location & staff
Review 108:Woke up by birds early each day. No black out curtain
Review 109:Windows in room facing street were pretty thin so noisy
Review 110:The beds are excellent and they served great breakfast with excellent coffee
Review 111:poor wifi in the room way too much expensive
Review 112:good geographical location near the Bogyoke market and Yangon train station nice room friendly staff
Review 113:Friendly staff, excellent breakfast, nice rooms.
Review 114:Great staff and a fab location for exploring Yangon.
Review 115:Loved the design n layout of hotel. Very cool place. Superb service. Loved the resident doggie.
Review 116:Overcharged for a taxi to / from airport
Review 117:Beautiful room, friendly staff, great location in downtown Yangon
Review 118:Limited food menu. No travel desk to help book tours
Review 119:Friendly staff. Rooms were very good and new.
Review 120:Internet a bit hit and miss!
Review 121:Location brilliant in relation to traffic chaos in Yangon. Staff so friendly. Breakfast amazing
Review 122:The hotel charged 10% more than what was quoted on booking.com
Review 123:Very comfortable bed
Review 124:Clearly overpriced & not value for money, even in low season.
Review 125:Location next to market
Review 126:The room is really beautiful. Thé service is more than perfect. And the breakfast was incredible.
Review 127:Pricey but high quality.
Review 128:Comfort of room. Friendliness of staff. Style of room.
Review 129:-Lots of short power cuts during my stay
Review 130:-Very good WiFi -Good location
Review 131:Surcharge on credit card use Creaky floor Housekeeping sometimes didn't replace amenties
Review 132:Comfortable bed Good location Bathroom products
Review 133:Water in the bath room is not hot and very wesk
Review 134:Breakfast and wifi
Review 135:The generator took some time to switch on when power was cut. Room had a dark corner.
Review 136:Breakfast was great!
Review 137:Friendly and professional staff. Comfortable, spacious and quiet room. Great breakfast. Convenient location for downtown.
